The “Mongoose” strikes… HW 80 -.22 -20ft lbs

Ok, I’ve finished the HW 80 hunter I built (I’ll checker it after a month of drying) . I wanted to keep it stock strokes to try to see what it’s about..

( I’m working on a stroked version as I feel 5 mm more and it might be the best gun there is at it’s power, and stroke to cylinder ratio..more when that is further tested) It is a gun that’s built as good as it gets. When HW changed them front welded brackets witlh a spring loaded machined one that holds the arm tight at battery cocked. Along with the new cocking shoe. There IS NO AIR RIFLE that is as well built . Now it can benefit from some work as I have done. The factory seals are always parachute to support the guaranteed idiocy of the average shooter .
Remember, they are selling to mom and pop for jr. too. Not this type of airgunner.

This Mongoose has been reshapped in the breech block to match the chamber and sight screw holes filled with screws. I’ve welded them ,but you end up with heat transfer lines. I don’t mind the hairline screw lines . The best are the K breech blocks with none. The barrel was shortened to 11 inches. It has been recrowned and mildly choked with a full length shroud and … well it’s not empty in there.
I did do a slight bit of port shaping. Along with a new piston seal I made. (most Hw are tad smaller than 30 mm, 29.89.actually)
The spring is a smaller wire. .135… WHAT YOU SAY.. All them kit makers use .142 to .148 wire In their kits… It is easy to get a stout wire short stacked and tight wound to give a snappy cycle .. At THE COST OF YOUR ARM . Sadly the HW80 has a odd breech block to cocking arm ratio. It’s just out of what I refer to “the golden ratio” [I’ll post on that later, something I’ve found with the best guns for ease of cocking to power ratio. To breech block to arm ratio, THATS WHERE THE EXTRA 5 mm stroke will come into play]

The piston was carbonitrated,At the rear.. buttons are one way to center the piston . You need to indicate it and center the rod and re pin it with slip fit guide and it can’t move. The spring and guide are my own Designs.
The action and barrel have been bead blasted and reblued to a satin finish. It is a hunting weapon
The stock, yes ,I saved that for last.. it is a Venom inspired design from a local tree that was cut 25 years ago.. Its not my fanciest wood but sentimental , Yes.. it is a functional hunter stock. Albeit the front screws look like every Tx ,they are not. They are pillared with metal sleeves just under the wood to let the screws go flush while the metal braces against the machined brackets. (You could never get away with that ,with the welded brackets , they all stripped and you were re tapping and using cups in the stock) I prefer less outside, especially flush, to see the wood not brass rings or stainless steel

It’s shooting 14.66 ftt at 780 fps just a hair under 20 ft lbs with very little recoil. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE SOME,in a spring gun as it’s physics.. You can’t beat it. With the lighter spring cocking isn’t arm breaking like big wire. Trigger is ,well ,Rekord. 1 lb .

One thing I will be doing in the ne’er future is welcoming full open build specs as well as as much help as I can to those who want to try these builds on their own. I’ll tell you EVERYTHING IVE DONE. Remember, I can give you grandmas cookie recipe, not sure they will taste like hers.. 😆
I do not do this for any business or money as a tuning so called master or for profit. Been der done dat. Not worth it
Manny may be offended as they call balk and be offended because they think their knowledge s value, when in reality it’s fruitless . First ,it turns the many younger potential AIRGUNNERS away as they can’t afford these lustful guns. Give them hope and a bit of encouragement and we grow new AIRGUNNERS for the future of the sport..
Second, knowledge Is power, but what is knowledge if it’s not passed on..
Third, there is no money in truly tuning air rifles, the time spent on one gun that gives you fits can tie up a week worth of work.
TO THE GUYS WHO CAN MAKE $ kit dropping and de buring with new seals for $300 go for it..

Air Handgun Recommendation

I am looking for help in deciding on an air gun for indoor handgun practice. I am a long time handgun shooter. I take my shooting seriously, having owned numerous fine shooting handguns over the years including a S&W M41. I currently shoot my Freedom Arms Model 97 revolver, which I dearly love. I also shoot my Diana 5G springer, which I find to be a fine pistol with the caveats that it is a PITA to cock and I find the recoil to be a bit annoying. It is, however, accurate enough for my needs and has a decent trigger and sights. I don't find myself shooting more than about 15 rounds before I become annoyed with shooting it due to its cocking effort. Here are some of my requirements and wish list:
* I do not wish to be saddled with a scuba type tank. A hand pump is not an objection if necessary.
* I would like it to be comparable in accuracy to my 5G.
* Good adjustable open sights are required. Being able to add a red dot such as a Fastfire III in the future would be great. My eyes will not last forever.
* I do not shoot in weather extremes.
* I do not compete.
* Maintainability/availability would be great
I really don't have objections to paying decent money for a good pistol if necessary. As I said, I take shooting seriously. Model 41s and 97s do not come cheap, but if there is an outstanding bargain that meets my needs, so much the better. I hope I am being realistic in my wants. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

PCP Rifle  NLA Edgun Leshiy 2 0.25 Caliber 350mm Long Hi-Cap (REPR) w/ 360cc Bottle & Extras

[No trade offers on this listing please...]

Hello AGN,

I'm looking to sell a very nice Edgun Leshiy 2 Long Hi-Capacity w/ 0.25 Caliber 350mm Alfa Precision Barrel, REPR regulator, 360cc 315Bar CF bottle, 2 BLACK magazines w/ updated (easy to remove) magnetic mag covers, Leshiy Black Out Kit, Jack.K magnetic magazine holder & regulator adjustment tool, magazine speedloader, extended locking pin, Edgun fill probe, DonnyFL Leshiy 2 shroud & original Leshiy 2 box.

This Edgun Leshiy 2 Long Hi-Cap REPR sells for $2,870 plus tax & shipping from Edgunwest.com. It is currently set to shoot JSB 25.39g pellets at ~820fps (which is about 38ft lbs) but I can set it to shoot at whatever fps you'd like within reason (or you could do it yourself, it's very easy to adjust the REPR reg). A DonnyFL w/ UNF 1/2x20 is included with this rifle so that you can swap out the factory shroud and add a moderator of your choice to reduce the report on this rifle (for example: a DonnyFL Ronin or Fatboy 2.0 or Huma Mod50 fit perfectly with this shroud). This rifle is in excellent condition with only normal light wear on the edges at the normal spots like the scope rail, trigger guard, butt-stock, etc. as shown in the photos; the air tubes, factory long moderator and DonnyFL shroud have all been carefully wrapped in an automotive grade carbon fiber vinyl wrap that looks great but can also be easily removed without any residue if you don't want it.

To summarize, this awesome L2 package comes with everything listed below:
  • Edgun Leshiy 2 REPR Long Hi-Cap 0.25 Alfa Precisioon 350mm barrel w/ upgraded 360cc 315bar Wolfiek Group carbon fiber bottle
  • DonnyFL Leshiy 2 Shroud w/ UNF 1/2x20 end cap
  • 2x BLACK 8 shot 0.25 magazines w/ updated magnetic cover
  • 1x Jack.k under the scope magnetic magazine holder
  • 1x magazine speed loader
  • REPR regulator adjustment tool
  • Edgun Leshiy 2 Black Out Kit installed
  • Extended locking pin installed
  • Edgun fill probe
  • 2x extra pucks
  • Carbon fiber vinyl wrap on factory moderator, air tubes and DonnyFL shroud
  • Original Edgun Leshiy 2 box
[Scope and mounts shown in the photos are NOT included in the purchase price...]

As configured with the extras listed above, this setup would total around $3,300 after taxes/shipping . . . so asking price here is more than fair and, therefore, firm.

Price here is FIRM at $2,000 + 1/2 actual shipping

Local pickup is available in the SF Bay Area - otherwise, payment by Paypal Friends & Family is preferred (or add 3.5% if using PP Goods & Services). I have plenty of feedback both here and dating back to the Yellow Forum so please feel free to do your due diligence and know that you're dealing with a reputable trader.

Brocock/BRK  Sloppy Ghost !?!

...I just bought a .22 Ghost HP and found the action lever to be quite sloppy...is this normal for the Ghost...?!?...is there some remedy...???...

...I don't have much experience with these new-fangled lever action repeaters...do most of them have this much play in the lever...???...

...I do have a "Benjamin" Cayden and an Air Maks Caimen, and both those rifles have a lot less slack in their lever arms...

...their combined price much is less than that of the Ghost...

...the Caimen is downright snug compared to the Ghost...

...I am not sure that it is something I will be able to overlook going forward...I would like to think I would just get used to it, but fear it may bug me every time I use the rifle...

...if it were not for the tiny five shot test group AoA produced with this rifle @ 20 yards, I would have already returned it...they tuned it well for JSB 18.13 grain pellets for me...

...AoA has issued an RMA # with no restock penalty...the only cost I would incur would be shipping...Chris @ AoA rocks...!!!...

Crosman  Crosman 2260 IN STOCK??

It *looks like* they are in stock at crosman.com. Maybe they found some in the back. Maybe they're back for another long run. Who knows?

TBH I debated not sharing but I have absolutely no need for any c02 guns anymore. Please buy them all before I change my mind.

Get 'em while they're hot.

Benjamin  Benjamin Marauder Expectations

I have a fairly new 2264LW Marauder and was just curious.

With absolutely no modifications whatsoever, I was able to tune it to get 40 shots starting at 3000psi it gets 801fps with a maximum velocity of 817fps in the middle of the 40 shots. The 40th shot ends up at about 1800psi then it starts to drop below 800fps. H&N Baracuda 18 pellets is all it has ever been fed and I've repeated these results over and over.

Is this normal?

Honestly I don't see many regulated pcps getting these results so I am wondering why I would ever buy a regulated gun unless I am just getting lucky?

This question is for people who currently own a 100% factory stock Gen 2 Marauder only. Please don't muddy the thread if you don't have one to compare. In my experience on forums I have no doubt that someone will totally ignore what I just said but it's worth a shot.

Pest Control Camera $25

Many of you are like me and use your air rifle for home pest control.

I recently updated my camera and want to share it with you.

I have a neighbor with hunting dogs in a kennel that always has dog food on the ground, so I get rats and mice. Two winters ago they found their way in my attic during a cold spell.

Since then I have been using a camera to monitor the area. I was using a cheap home camera connected to a usb battery pack I have a safe shooting location at a bird feeder I put on my fence near the kennels. The fence is re enforces with multiple boards of wood, and there is an oak tree behind that. If its in the feeder, its a safe shot.

This new camera is indoor/outdoor. It is rechargeable with an internal battery. I/O on the bottom includes a slot for microSD, and it is protected with a rubber insert.
I have it set up for motion detection and it will record that activity and alert silently on my phone. It also keeps a log so you can turn that off and just check it to see what time you can expect your pests. It's cheaper than most trail cams i have seen and pretty small in size.

I run an IR flood light in my backyard, so I taped over the IR illuminator in the unit. I haven't found in the setting an off switch for it.

I have been running it 24/7 for the last two days and it is still at 87% battery. I will update with how long it last on a charge.

I bought it for 25 bucks, the price is now 30. Just watch, I am sure it will go back down.

This is the camera I am using

The light I use in my yard mounted on my house 18 yards from the feeder

FX  What should I do with an Impact X?

I have an Impact X in .22 that I bought to try a few different things. The idea was to try different calibers (.30?) and/or slugs and try to gain some understanding of tuning an airgun. In 2022 I tried to order two different plenum upgrades that never seemed to materialize. After several months of waiting I finally gave up on that idea. I have learned some things from this rifle - primarily how to find and fix leaks. The fixes have not been difficult but they can be tedious and sometimes my attention gets diverted while waiting on parts so it takes a while to get back to fixing the rifle. It would still be interesting to try a larger caliber PCP and it sounds like it could be done with the Impact X as-is. The performance would probably be better with the plenum/block upgrades that I couldn't get but I've heard that's not strictly necessary. I don't actually have a use for a larger caliber PCP either. I'm only hunting cellulose and my three other .22 PCPs do that just as well. I guess I'm just not sure where the Impact X fits. Is it worth trying to switch calibers with or without the upgraded power parts? Or would I be better off (save the time and frustration) buying something in a larger caliber from the start?

N/A  Mould on my Hw50S

I was just reading a post about a bad finish on a Cometa air rifle and the particular mention of rust. I only own four air rifles, a Walther Lgv challenger ultra, HW77 stainless, Hw50S and a Benjamin Titan. I haven’t shot my any of my four for a while but I always wipe them down with gun oil before putting them to bed.
We have moved from a hot environment to a hot and humid environment very close to the ocean (about a mile as the crow flys) so I thought I’d open the safe and have a bo peep. Glad to report no rust but the last rifle inspected was my 50S and there it was, mould on all of the checkering. I wiped it off with some furniture polish no pics sorry, but I’ve never seen this before. I think it might be prudent to check my babies more often.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Benjamin Akela .177

I have a Benjamin akela in .177 up for trade. the hammer spring has been cut down, with 10.34 hades on low power the fps is around 750, and on high power I have gotten up to around 20fpe, but I wouldn't recommend going that high on power. the gun will come with 1 magazine (2 if I can find the other one) and shoots very well. I have used it to take care of pest birds past 50 yards. the gun will not come with a scope (open to negotiation). I would like to trade into something that fits me and my shooting style a bit better. I would be interested in a marauder in any caliber, or anything cool honestly. I will only ship within the U.S. let me know what you got!
