Other air gun manufacturers need to innovate or else be left behind by the Taipan.

Earlier this week I found that my HW110 had a velocity drop, so I tore it down, fixed it, and dialed it in with Polymags at ~925 fps. I’ve been itching to try the combo on rats, and tonight I got my chance. Hit this one in the head at 13 yards, and it it was pretty gnarly - lots of flopping, blood everywhere on the fence and ground, just nasty. But what was cool about it was that after the pellet passed through it’s noggin, it hit the backer board behind the bait, and was sitting right on top of the fence, just about perfectly mushroomed. Even had a little chunk o’rat in the bottom of the cavity. Went from .177 to .263 inches. Not bad performance at all!

This year I will be making full use of the swivel shooting table. Last year shooting tethered limited me to the length of the air line and tank resting on a tote I would have to bring.

While these aren't an exact match for the OME bonded sealing washer, they're just closest I could find without contacting GX.
Replaced both on the banjo fitting where one came apart after my cylinder service. Dead head tested 4500psi, then topped off 6.8L tank to 4500. No leaks filling or held under pressure several minutes.
OME is 1.9mm thick x 16.2mmOD x ??ID (can't remember exactly OD of banjo bolt around 9.75ish)
Anyway they sealed and are both pressure and temperature rated.
IMO it's an acceptable substitute. These cost $16.58 w/shipping and arrived in 6 days (including weekend).
No idea what cost or shipping time would have been with GX.

I must add that ANY substituting of parts, seals, or o-rings other than OME from GX are done at your own risk.

I have an FX Crown that I purchased new in 2018. I haden't shot it for 8 months. I purchased a .22 cal. 600mm barrel last Fall, and finally today decided to install the new barrel, replacing the .25 cal 600 mm. After installing the new barrel and reinstalling the scope, I adjusted the front power wheel from .25 .30 to .177 .22. The regulator still showed 120 bar, which is what I was shooting my .25 at. I took a couple shots which were off quite a ways as expected. My tank showed also about 120 bar so I decided to fill it up. When I got to about 200 bar, I noticed the regulator also showed 200 bar, which I know is way too much. I took the air bottle off and dry fired several times until both dials were zero. Then I turned the regulator screw clockwise until it stopped. I reinstalled air bottle, and the regulator dial and air bottle dial both went up to almost 200 bar again. I removed the air bottle and emptied gun air several times till both regulator and air bottle dials were about 150 bar. The regulator dial would never be less than air bottle pressure even though the regulator screw was set fully clockwise to lowest setting, I did shoot the gun several times once the pressure was below 150 bar. both dials are about 120 bar now. The regulator is always following the air bottle pressure. I'm thinking I need a regulator rebuild or replacement, Would a new Huma air regulator be a good option?
Any help is appreciated.

So just now had a Fox in my hen house was too close for dnt tnc225r to range my guess about 6 feet I was laying on ground looking through a 16in square entry door for chickens. That way if Fox wanted out he would have to go through my face lol. The gun Vulcan 3hp .30 59gr zan at 970 fps. So now there's one Fox less

I can charge my M3 to 250 Bar and within a few days, the bottle pressure gauge and the first regulator gauge show 160 bar and the second regulator gauge reads 90 bar. I've used leak detector on all the usual suspects but no bubbles. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

I’ve been kinda in the market for a……looking for a not offensive term……ok, kinda good gun. Considered one of those Pinty things but just not into potato guns. Saw a used Zelos compact and because of all the guys swooning over it and the M60, I figured what the heck. I have spent many hours with it addressing the things that bother me about these type of guns. All I think I have left is the trigger and I’m done. Was going to start a topic but if there aren’t many compacts out there, I’m not wasting my time.

I have 3D printed plenty of moderators which broke in their weak spot.

The weak spot seems to always be right in front of the barrel or the OEM moderator.

The photos show a Umarex Notos moderator where the weak spot strikes again.
In the case of the Umarex Notos mod here, an easy fix was to make the walls much ticker at the point where it broke (right in front of the OEM Notos mod).

I hate airgun manufacturers like Umarex (see Notos) or Gamo (see Urban) who permanently glue their moderators to the barrels.
They only had to add a 1/2-20 thread to the barrel and would have likely cost less.
Then we would not have to spend many hours and dollars trying to add a moderator on top of their crappy OEM moderators.

This Umarex Glock 17 gen 5 MOS features a 21 shot chain magazine and delivers 350 fps with 0.45 g pellets out of the box, which equals 2.56 joules.
This is low, but still within the standard range for a .177 blowback pistol. Its stock performance is below the PPQ M2 Q4 from the same series
that also use a chain magazine, which I own and which reaches 400 fps on the first shot : between 3 and 3.2 joules. So I decided to completely rework the magazine, the valve, and its spring for maximum performance. These modifications increase power by over 2 joules while also improving shot consistency, despite the usual limitations of blowback systems.


The magazine head was fully machined to increase CO₂ volume, with a significant amount of metal removed. The small stock valve had
two very narrow inlet holes and an internal outlet diameter of 2.90 mm. I reamed it to 3.40 mm and greatly enlarged the CO₂ inlets.
A softer and more suitable spring was installed. I now get extremely consistent velocities for a blowback pistol, with a peak of 4.58 joules.
Even higher power is possible with slightly heavier pellets, but the result is already very satisfying.
This is probably one of the most powerful CO₂ blowback pistols in .177 today.


I also mirror polished the plate that presses the chain against the magazine to reduce friction during rotation and improve trigger feel.
I built a quick-piercing system by machining a piece of Allen key and a butterfly knob in carbon fiber, which turned out too fragile.
I then remade it in aluminum and applied a Cerakote finish. This eliminates the need for a tool to pierce the CO₂ cartridge.

Hi everyone,

I have several questions about Benchrest and also a problem I've already mentioned in the PCP airguns section, but I still haven’t found a solution.
I own an FX Crown with a 700 mm Superlight barrel and I shoot JSB 18 grain pellets at 870–880 fps. Accuracy at 30 meters has always been outstanding. About a month ago, I fine-tuned the rifle to find the plateau-knee area around 875 fps, and the consistency improved a lot, very stable with maximum spread of 4-5 fps.
At the same time, I started shooting at 72 meters outdoors. The target is placed downhill, around 5 or 6 degrees from my shooting position. I don't use wind flags.
The issue I’m seeing is that accuracy at this distance is totally erratic. Sometimes I get 2 or 3 shots almost touching or very close, and then suddenly the POI shifts drastically and the group opens up by 5 or 6 cm—like if the scope had moved.
I've tried many things: I reduced magnification to check for pellet spiraling (didn’t see any), cleaned the barrel, changed the barrel, checked the liner spacer positions, changed the moderator, shot without the moderator, switched from rests to bipods and back, changed shooting tables, checked torque on the stock screws, changed scopes… everything. But the accuracy keeps coming and going unpredictably.
On the other hand, maybe I’m just expecting something that’s not possible with my setup at 72 meters. So I’d like to know: what kind of group is realistically achievable at 72 meters by an enthusiast who’s been into this for about a year?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve read about the importance of wind flags and I’m already working on that. Many thanks in advance!

I recently put the side cocking lever from Maple on my Notos. So I can get quicker follow up shots when multiple squirrels are outside. After I did that the accuracy seemed to fall off. I was shooting around 3/8” @25 yds but now it’s spread out to 1” or so. I’ve double checked the scope and tightened all the bolts I see. I did have to take out the hammer spring during that install so that might be where the problem is. I’m not sure what’s going on? I’m pretty lost on this stuff.

I counted the turns when I removed it. When I installed it I verified that it was screwed in the same number of times. Unfortunately the gun is still shooting “loose” groups. I cleaned it too just for good measure. What the heck am I missing here? Currently I have the Hammer Spring 2 turns in from all the way backed out.

This is so frustrating to me. I have some data below for reference. I filled the gun between each shot set from a scuba tank that’s @2900 psi. I stop recording data when the tank reached 2000psi

It seems illuminated reticles are all the rage nowadays. I suspect a lot of manufacturers are putting a lot of advertising $ into making the the illuminated reticles a major selling point on their scopes. For example, in looking at the choices for reticles with the Titan line of Element scopes at one major online retailer, there are no choices for non-illuminated reticles. That makes me wonder if the price jump from the Helix to the Titan level is really just selling bells and whistles and not really much of a jump in quality for an extra $300 to $400. I think Element makes decent scopes. But just like so many other manufacturers, they have to have multi levels of quality and ever bigger objectives and shiny glowing ultra busy Christmas trees!

Which accessories are you adding first?

Nice lite Dreamline tactical. This would be a nice woods walking rig due to its Lite weight. Has a hogue grip and adjustable stock. Currently shooting 18.13gr at 875 fps for 30 FPE with the reg at 110 bar. Plenty of room to go up for slugs.
You can easily screw on your FX bottle to increase shot count for higher reg pressures. A couple small marks on the bottom rail but otherwise in nice condition. Holds air and functions as it should.
