AEA  Challenger Elite.457 Head Aches

New to pcps and here, but lurking a while trying to learn. But this gun has had a steep learning curve.
Got the Challenger Elite .457 about 4 months back, because externally regulated and didn't want to deal a shot bell curve with my 1st pcp.
But it's been a head ache.
First blew o-ring in regulator core, reg kept resetting itself lower after few series of shots and I kept trying to reset where I had it. So eventually turned out to far. Only 2nd day out with gun, boy was I sick.
New reg core, same resetting itself lower issue. This time lowered tank psi, turned reg down, then refilled and readjusted reg. But problem continued.
Afraid to take apart gun at first, eventually removed pressure tank to find it was loaded full of oil. I've always used dual filters with my compressor so not from that. Dealer's tech said he'd also seen a few like that from factory.
Cleaned tank and reg, got to finally work properly 2 weeks ago.
Started with MrHP's slugs but had large deviations across shot string on chronograph. Slugged bore, was .457, resulting in his barely engaging lands. Groove's were .461ish. So got myself for setup casting .460, more $. Experimented sizing .458, .459, and powder coating. Best results just .460 as cast. And absolutely hates powder coated slugs.
Next, last weekend, suddenly started what I thought was valve bouncing, by double firing randomly. Tech support gave possibilities, and sending another spring, not arrived yet.
Less afraid now, took apart gun this morning and found valve pin was hanging up in it's o-ring. Fortunately had already bought the o-ring kit for gun. Replaced o-ring (#42 in gun diagram) and valve pin moved smoothly. 50+ rounds today FINALLY not a single issue.
Also had a older scope go out during all this. But life time warranties aren't any good after the company goes out of business. New scope arrived yesterday but haven't mounted. Today was simply testing and shooting thru chrono.
Now agree with countless post throughout forum, AEA is for those who don't mind working on their gun.
But even fighting the regulator issue, and before scope gave out it can be a tack driver. At 50 yrds I've had 3 and 4 same hole and the other nealy touching those.

Traditional Rifle  NLA Weihrauch HW77 Rifle (not carbine) .177

FS: New HW77 rifle in .177, not the carbine. I purchase two of these years ago. My son and I shot one but this one remains untouched. The rear sight has not even been moved on the rail. This is a full power version at around 14 fpe. If you've ever wanted the full length version this is your chance. I can take other pictures if needed. Price is $600 plus actual shipping/insurance. I am open to trades. Perhaps an HW30/R7 in .177 or an HW50 in .22 plus some cash. It's a fine rifle, the bluing is deep and rich, not a mark on it. The other one we had shot incredibly. I can certainly keep it but I would prefer something that I can more easily use with my grandson. Thank you for your interest. I don't have a lot off feedback here but you can find me over at GunBroker and I used to be very active on the old yellow forum. Please PM with questions and offers. I accept PayPal and US Postal money orders only.

forearm bipod

Hello fellow field target shooters.

Got a question regarding the forearm rest and bipod. I googled and couldn't find a clear answer.

The current AAFTA rules says

  1. Any such aids must rest on the ground and may not be driven or otherwise embedded into the ground or shooting pad, and cannot be attached to the gun: must release from the gun as the gun is picked up, and must not connect to the gun with studs or devices that restrict gun movement. A single stop may be used in front or behind the gun support, but no other anchoring mechanisms are permitted.

So if the forearm has a groove (basically two stops) and you rest that groove on the bipod...is that considered illegal?

Traditional Rifle  SOLD BAM XS25H .22

More clearing out of the gun shelf, this time with a like new BAM XS25H in.22 with the skeletonized bamboo stock. Shooting at full factory specs, this Diana Mod 34 clone is an accurate shooter. The original sheet metal scope stop that came on the rifle had the small bolt sheared off so i have a real scope stop on the gun now to replace it. Looking for $160 shipped. PayPal ff or postal money order.

Reactions: Noladad

HW95n Field Pro arrived yesterday.

I’m liking it overall so far.

So for the bad. It’s the stock, it came with a good ding in it. And it wasn’t done during shipping. It was very well packed. No damage to the box.
To be picky I’d liked one with better grain patterns. It’s still nice. Not really a complaint.

And for the good.
Fit and finish seem very good, shoulders nicely, the barrel weight spun off easily and I just screwed the WH suppressor on. No bluing missing under it.
I didn’t mount the included scope. Rather went with one in already fond of.
It cocks actually easier than I expected. I like it.

The ding in the stock is a definite bummer. But I had already planned on stripping the stock and putting a quality finish on it. So I’ll sand out the dents and all will be well.

PCP Rifle  NLA JTS AIRACUDA .25 STANDARD (pictures added)

Bought Aug 16th 2023 from Pyramyd Air, gun has had maybe a tin and a half of pellet shot thru it..gun is very accurate as in if you can shoot it can clean the know your limits target at 62yds..at 32 yds its one ragged hole with FX 25.4 gr pellets. Comes with 2 magazines both function perfectly as does the gun. Holds air indefinitely. Will ship in original box double boxed.
Wanting to trade for SFP SF scope in the 4x20,6x24,4x12 or ?Looking for reticle that's not super thin/busy going to be used for hunting. Absolutely not interested in FFP.
Wanting a lighter scope. Needs to be same value as gun and in excellent condition, pm me with trade offers and we can swap pics..

Gun looks like any other JTS Standard.

Only reason for trade is I bought a Air Arms S510 XS Extra .25 and will be using it, JTS is just as accurate though.

Airforce  Airforce Condor Doug Noble .224 193 FPE

I was wondering if you can still buy a Condor Doug Noble valve? I just saw a YouTube video of Tofazfou's Adventures with a .224 Noble valve in a Douglas barrel 12 twist. He is saying 45 grain slugs at 1300 fps.in 28 inch barrel. Heavy slugs over 60 grain1100fps. I would like to do same.thing.....Already have a 27.5 inch 12 twist .222 barrel.for my condor... I emailed Doug? Waiting for reply...Anyways Thanks

Snowpeak  Snowpeak M60

So my .22 M60 has proved to be very accurate out of the box. Im shooting jsb exact 18,13 right now due to having a few tins on hand. I am using a discovery HT 1-16x40 ffp scope and as of now have only shot it out to 60 yards. I have taken more than one groundhog at 60 yards at this point. I do plan to buy a few different types of pellets and slugs in the future but as of now I’m pretty content and happy with not having made any adjustments to the gun. While this gun isn’t exactly cheap it’s definitely worth the money I have in it. I also hope we see the airgun community take this gun a bit more seriously and just not see it as a cheap piece of junk. I have had great success in the field since getting this M60 in my hand. 🎯

FX  I finally put LW barrel on my Crown

I have owned my FX crown for about a year and a half and have never been happy with it due to drastic point of impact shifts . I played with it until I gave . up and put it in the safe. It was useless a a competition BR gun . I like the features of the crown with it easy adjustability but in my opinion the barrel liner shroud system sucks . I have been wanting to put a LW barrel on it and finally got around to doings so . I sent the gun to Richard at Airgun Revisions and he put a WL stainless 22cal barrel on it . Richard is a master airgun smith and he does great work a reasonable price and he looks to improve the design however he can to do the best job . I been playing with it and find it to be very pellet fussy but it does like Air Arm pellets . No more POI shifts Here is a target that I shot today at 35 yards . I just cleaned the barrel so it too 40-50 shots on the top of the target to get the groups to settle down . Once it settled ,I shot a pellet at each target and was very happy with the results . I will keep experimenting with the tune to see if it can be tweeked but it certainly shows great potential for a competition BR rig . Here are a couple of pictures
