Since it's the off season, and the garden isn't going yet, I have laid off the squirrels save for one that got in the chicken feeder.

This guy has been living in my maple tree, so I've been leaving out extra sunflower seeds and dried corn. Figure I can fatten him up, and maybe he'll tell his buddies where the good stuff is!

GK1: What Silencer for Backyard Quiet?​

Based on your personal experience:
What silencer would I need to get the GK1 down to "backyard quiet" or almost so?

I understand that bigger and longer gets the gun quieter, but I'd like to stick with the minium length necessary....

...and I happened to notice this picture of the installation of the black inline filter.



I noticed that the filter is installed before the gauge block, not after, and virtually all of the installs I've seen have the filter after the block. This seems to suggest that this is the preferred way to install the filter, but maybe not.

I've seen a similar picture before, maybe on AGN, and I'm trying to find out if the 3D printer file for the filter holder is available. I've looked in all the usual places and I know I've seen this holder before...possibly someone here can help.

I'm a Weihrauch springer fanboy and proud of it. I've owned and shot the HW 97K, 50S, 30S, and 98. All of them are in .177. I like .177 caliber because of the faster velocities, flatter trajectories(at reasonable springer distances), and reduced dwell time.

My primary reasons for owning a springer is to shoot accurately first and to use it for hunting second. For these uses, having a flatter trajectory and larger PBR is advantageous.

The ideal velocity for most pellets is between 8-900 fps...generally. Faster than that and the transonic starts to play havoc with stability and much slower than that and the increased dwell time and exaggerated trajectories are going to become a problem.

A .177 8.64 grain pellet at 850 fps is just shy of 14 fpe...right where the midpower springers shine and can be quite accurate.

I could see a .20 caliber springer being good for those 14-16 fpe power levels because you can maintain reasonable velocities, etc...but .22? Even a .20 at 15 fpe is barely doing 700 fps with the popular 13.73 grain pellet. Especially, for the sub 12 fpe guns in .20 or .22...those loopy trajectories have to be a killer. Am I missing something here?

.177 is the best caliber for sub 14 fpe springers, period. Prove me wrong

As a example will use same bullets flat nose and roud nose .. which number is supposed to be better the higher one or the lower one .. is the higher the number better..? Thank you.

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Labradar (the old version). I'm looking for a chronograph that measures at different distances so I can easily calculate BC. Right now, the way I do it is I measure at the muzzle with the simple Caldwell optical chronograph. I then place the chronograph 30 meters away and measure again hoping I won't hit it. I really like the form factor of a lot of the new ones but one thing that is a deal breaker for me is the built in rechargeable batteries. I can deal with proprietary batteries but I need it to be user replaceable. I only plan to use it occasionally when tuning for a particular projectile so battery life is not a big deal to me.

So far, I only know of the old Labradar that has both velocity measurement at distances AND a replaceable battery. Are there any others I should be considering?

Diamond in the rough...I spent hrs. shooting the last 2 days. This is a blast. Played tin can down for most part at 15- 30 yds. Like it so much I am going to get another that is in mint condition.

I raise Livestok and I have rats in my barn. So I went out and bought a PCP rifle shoot rat the problem. I’m having is at 25 yards. It will not hold a tight group pattern. And anybody who’s ever tried to hunt rats one or 2 inches off you’ll miss it every . I have a.ux origin
I keep it between 15 and 2500 psi while I am target shooting . What can I do to get better accuracy out of this thing. Would different pellets help.
Also I am using a rest when I target shoot

I added a cocking handle and two o-rings to the cocking lever.
Installed my old 8x32x50mm Hawke AirMax scope.

I recently sold a flintlock with the intention of putting some of the money toward an HW50s in .20 caliber. At this point I’ve got one ordered from AOA, but they don’t have a timeline for them yet, which is OK. I knew that up front. My quandary is, they also have some walnut (I love the walnut) HW95’s in both .20 and .22 in stock (at least they did in March, when I was in there). I’m seriously considering spending another chunk on an HW95 too, but I’m thinking .22 just to have a little variety. I really like the .20, but the HW95 in .22 seems to be a better choice for me with a .20 HW50 on tap. I know no one can make the choice for me, but I’m just wondering what others might do in my shoes. Thoughts?

. It’s been around year 1/12 since I ordered the 98 / 20 from krale but it finally arrived after a 2 day shipment wow. Definitely worth the wait for my growing 20 collection. After a thorough barrel cleaning, degreased the scope rail and bkl 263 mount and put a athlon 4x12x40 scope on it. I’m very impressed with its accuracy with jsb 13.73 pellets, not so much with hn ftt 11.42. 20 mph gust. And yes it’s a little twangy but no dieseling!

Hey friends I bought a streamline off the classifieds a few weeks ago as my first FX. After reading through the years of the cult following the royal series has, when this one popped up I snagged it. It’s my first higher end gun and I’m very impressed. It’s sleek, light, accurate, ergonomic and has an amazing trigger. Dare I say it’s probably the best squirrel killing device I’ve ever held.

My question is with liners. I don’t know much about tinkering with the fx guns and there’s not much on here about the streamline. If I wanted a more slug friendly liner can I just purchase one in the correct length and install it? I don’t know about compatibility of parts with the old streamline. I’m not even sure they used liners then, I think they did though. Guess I need to take him apart soon and get more familiar with the platform.

1. LG300XT in LG400 blue universal stock, yes it is an LG300 in an LG400 stock. With R10 pellets, its was shooting at 578 fps with an SD of 2fps for 10 shots, very accurate but I prefer the loading of my lg400. Comes with an original regulator (the installed one is an upgraded mk2 version but still at 6J), a spare hammer and valve, plus some spare springs.
