Air Arms  Air Arms HFT 500 - upgrades

I acquired a AA HFT 500 <12 from a forum member a week back and set about creating my personalized version of this airgun.
I currently own 3 of these AA platforms which are all very similar. I also have owned the AAS510XR but it was a left side, magazine loading only model so i sold it for things that are right hand feeds. Why? because in Field Target those big parallax wheels interfere with left side loading.

First order of business was slipping the gun into an Aeron FT Chassis that came with a AA S500 XS carbine model I bought from another forum mbr... I'm using the OEM laminate HFT stock the HFT 500 normally comes with on my AA S 500 XS long version.
I have another AA S500 XS in carbine length which now lives in a GRS field target stock.

Then i changed the AA quirky fill fitting to a Foster QD .... easy peasy.

Added the Rowan slip on moderator adapter but i should have ordered a black adapter but ohhhh well.

Screwed on a Weihrauch moderator... phffft.

Mounted an Element Titan 3-18x50 FFP MOA IR scope on it with 34mm Sportsmatch inf adjust rings.

Added the Rowan 8 shot rotary "right side loading" mag - simplifies old finger fumbling in .177 during HFT matches.

Hopefully this weekend i'll get things zeroed up and post some current pictures.

Last pic is not the current HFT500 but my AA S500 XS - which is to give you an idea of the finished product.... the HFT 500 is much shorter.

Of interest: found it odd that the HFT 500 is a 2700 psi fill and all the other AA S series are 3000 psi fills? guess it has to do with regulated verse not regulated.

Other  Something other than a Weihrauch

Well I have been retired sense October of 2023 and have only had about An hour in that time frame to shoot ☹️ today I decided to. Get to shooting again 😀 On this cool 94 deg evening Pulled out a rifle I had purchased from fly Dragon sometime in 2023 .the Chinese knock off of a Diana model 34 in 22 cal modelXS25S I tell you if it didn’t say chine on it, you would thing you were shooting a Diana 34 😳 I’ve got about 300 pellets down the tube. Just with a little tinkering got the trigger, Some what ok . And it showing promise of being a good shooter . It’s a hell of a lot cheaper than any of my Weihrauchs so far just as much fun to shoot. 😳 so if a person would want to get into springers and didn’t have the budget for a Weihrauch. I think this would be a good gateway into springer s . Just my opinion

Drifting scope in rings question (must be a standard question?)

Last time I was on the range I had zeroed my scope and I was taking shots further and further out.

And then all of a sudden, I lost zero.

At the time I didn't understand what was going on but now that I'm home and have time to look closely at the scope, I see it had drifted in the rings until the rings made contact with a the flared-out end of the scope body.

Other than torquing the scope rings to the correct amount, what do people do if their scope drifts? Is there a reason to avoid a tiny dab of loctite on the scope body or rings?

For context, all my childhood I shot rifles only with iron sights. Scopes are fancy, rich-person handicap devices!

EDgun  Lelya 2 in the house

Got another Edgun in the flock thanks to a fellow AGN member (y) . Put a few magazines through it to sight in the new Arken EPL 4-16. It is tuned for 15g Hades and is very accurate with them. My only challenge with it so far is getting used to handling the plastic mags and the mag disconnect feature, which I really don't forsee using much. The Bat mod sounds differently than I'm used to from a moderator (STO's). No really a muffled sound just a quieter pop and the sound of the hammer/valve doing their thing. Oh, and the sound of lead hitting the rubber mulch target is very distinctive even at 37yds. The trigger has a lot of 1st stage travel but still breaks clean, light and predictable.

HW/Weihrauch  In the eye of the beholder

Yesterday I had lazer surgery on my shooting eye.
A few months ago I kept cleaning my glasses, until I realized it wasn’t my glasses. Went got eyes checked. Cataracts. Right eye , my shooter eye. If I waited much longer I’d be using a white cane.
Today I shot a R9 and a HW98 both .20 cal. Wow WOW Wow. What a difference. Feel like Steve Austin. What a difference.
‘This evening I took out one of my favorite plinkers. HW77 .25.
IMG_8892.jpeg
My glasses are on the table. I was awake and watched the surgery, amazing procedure. Got the whole package, can read as well. Here’s where is gets good.
For years I’ve been cutting cans in half in as few shots as possible. Mushroom size can is the official size. I was at 39, 34, 55. All over, the best for me was 27 at 30 yds.
IMG_8891.jpeg
This can I dropped 21 rounds with Hades and the 77. And 35 yds. Only wasted 2 shots. New record
‘Anyone putting this surgery off, for me, massive difference. Don’t need the glasses any more either.
Lead is going to fly. Crow

Panthera doing work at 80 yds.

I took this shot this morning at work. The panthera has been sitting for weeks collecting dust. So I grabbed it and headed to work knowing the ground squirrels are running around on the property due to the panthera sitting at home the last few weeks. I got setup on a couple barrels that were a little wobbly but steady enough. I had a ground squirrel sitting just outside his hole watching me setup…….bad mistake. I recently bought the vortex range finder with the built in ballistics calculator which makes it easy getting shots off fast. I ranged him and got 80 yds and .9 mil drop. I dialed the mark5 .9 mil and took the shot. The panthera had been sitting weeks and has been handled but not shot even once and even has had a couple bumps to the barrel. Nothing drastic like slamming into a wall but it has been bumped around. No poi issue from the bumps or sitting weeks. The video speaks for itself. Quality is lower since I did this as a short on my phone. The high quality video will make it into my next full video.

Equipment:
Panthera .22 700 mm
H&N .218 34 gr. Hollow point heavies @ 1018 fps.

Utah Airguns Support

So I purchased an air gun from Utah Airguns. Received it and out of the box it was leaking air if filled past 1000 PSI. I was able to call Utah airguns, open a ticket, troubleshot with the rep, and eventually sent the air gun back for them to either replace or fix. When Utah Airguns received it, I got an email stating it was received and will take 3-4 weeks to repair. I find this unacceptable and tried calling in to talk to someone but it seems like it goes straight to their voicemail. I tried calling a few times at different parts of the day but no luck. Are they blocking phone numbers? If they are acting like this, I'd prefer not to do business with them. I'm pretty disappointed because so many folks has recommended them. But none the less, what are your thoughts?
