AEA  Just so ya know...

New to me Element Max, I'm at the gun range, going to try out a few slugs. I take 3 shots, fill port starts leaking air. So for the rest of the time there I shot teathered or at least with the fill probe plugged in.
I get home, remove the gage, remove the tank. Valve is in the assembly on the gun. Make up a special screw driver & pull the valve out. Measured everything up as best as I could and ordered some orings and replacement parts from The Pellet Shop.
Orings got here first, cleaned everything up, installed oring amd aired the Max up to 1200 to look for leaks. So far so good.
Had to make up a special screw driver, has a slot to clear the valve stem. Orings are
5mm OD, 1.5mm tkns, 2mm ID. The original oring was so hard I thought it was molded nylon.
Let me know if you need an oring, I have 49 left. 🤣

PCP Rifle  SOLD **SOLD** Huben .25 K1 custom Shortened to 28" by Krazcool - $975 shipped

**SOLD**

There are thousands of almost identical Huben K1s in use. I've had a couple of them and they were excellent for their size, dependable semi-auto action, and easily adjustable power. Last year I asked Kelly at Krazcool airguns to customize a .25 K1 by shortening it by about 4 inches from the standard length.

The resulting shortened K1 is just under 28 inches in overall length. The modification turned out to be unexpectedly complicated due to the internal design of the shroud and barrel. All of the controls and the function of the shroud remain the same as before. I only did a brief power test on the K1 after purchase.

The price is $975 and includes shipping within the continental United States.

Here's part of a note I sent to Kelly at Krazcool shortly after getting the rifle;

"On a quick test the shortened carbine (produced) ~71fpe with ~160 on the reg and using 33.96gr King Heavies.... The snap of the report at that power level is still acceptable..."

I didn't compare higher regulator pressures or different pellet weights to determine the highest FPE combinations and never had the opportunity to check for accuracy. This was a custom build and I trust the quality of Krazcool's work.

I hesitate to sell it because of the amount of time, planning, effort, and expense that went into the modification of the barrel, shroud, air cylinder, and fore-stock. It's a unique K1 and it fits me perfectly. I shot a few targets when I got it and then it went back in the box. I still look at it once in a while and am very proud to own it, but the fact is that I'll never actually shoot it.

It will ship in the original box, along with a fill probe and a small bag of misc parts. No other items are included, the pictures show everything.

One of the pictures shows the K1 in the foam cutout for the larger standard model.

This sale is about owning something unique within a sea of generic K1s.

One of the attached pictures shows the shortened K1 next to standard length K1 so you can see the size difference more clearly.

PM with firm intent to buy and I'll send my PayPal address.

Thanks for looking!

Kral Arms  A question for you "Unregulated PCP tuners"

In reference to my Kral Super Duty project.
See: Kral Project

Lightened the hammer, changed hammer spring and some minor trigger work sense last time.

Here is what the shot profile is looking like with a 1500 psi spread going from 3000 down to 1500 psi.
* Actually done on a fill stopping at these pressures and chrony testing.

1500 psi is 849 fps
2000 psi is 903 fps
2500 psi is 880 fps
3000 psi is 845 fps

So we have an ES of @ 55 fps in this unregulated 1420 cc capacity air beast as currently tuned.
I'm thinking for the quantity of shots there is going to be that it is very doable for an open field 100's of shots per day squirrel whacker !!!

So for you unregulated guys .... how is this tune ? ( I'm a regulator tuner and this was very time consuming )

Thanks,
Scott

Umarex  Zelos Question

I made a stupid mistake , and ruined my .22 cal Zelos beyond repair.
I just ordered a .25 cal Zelos from PA'S birthday sale. Here is my question.
If I wanted to use the .22 cal parts I have on hand " Which is everything except the receiver " could I use the .22 cal barrel , probe ect in my .25 to convert it to a .22 when I wanted. The only thing I'm not sure of is the transfer port alignment. When I get the .25 I was going to pull the barrel , and use my micrometer to see if was doable , so would anyone who might know before hand let me know if it is possible. Thanks OV.

FX  FX Impact M2, M3, M4 POI shift when installing moderator

Hi, wan to get your opinion how you deal with this issue.
When I go out shooting in the woods, I carry my M3 700mm barrel with no compensator, when I shoot on my backyard I put on DonnyFL YOKOZUNA, point of impact shifts with compensator on it due to barrel sagging, as you can imagine, shift is about 2MOA, my backyard shooting range is 40 yards.

Now, I would like to hold same POI at all times, so I can go back and forth without re-zeroing.

So I looked in to this, there are few solutions.

  1. Bottle to barrel clamp - I got one, did not like it, just because if I need to switch bottle, it messes up POI pretty bad, big time re-zero, that clamp pulls barrel way off, so, this option is not an option.
  2. Barrel tensioner - I keep watching videos about them, FX one seems to be best option, BUT people complain how loud it gets without shroud, AND will that keep barrel straight with or without compensator, no sagging? I did not come across any videos or posts confirming that.
  3. SaborTactical TRS rail with barrel support - many reviews, some say it's working great, others saying that it's not, also I don't want to add lots of extra weight to my M3, walking the woods already heavy enough, don't know how much rail weight is, can't find that anywhere, but I imagine it's little bit extra, but the BIG questions, will it do for what I need it to do?

Any other options out there, or I just put that DonnyFL on and keep it on all the time, but again, go in the woods, that barrel gets little big longer, little bit heavier, I rather walk without it.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciate it, how do you deal with this?
Thank you very much!

Brocock/BRK  BRK Ghost Slug gun

Ok guys I was able to get to the indoor range after work and I got some initial numbers and some groups. This was just an initial shooting to see the velocities and some short range groups. Range is indoors and was shooting at the pistol range which only goes out to about 20 yards. So nothing extremely far by any means, but I was after some numbers to start with, and something to grow from. Barrel is a 3 Groove from TJ that Thammer did up for me. Also using one of Orions mags, and I am really enjoying these! As they have the last round stop and they are stupid simple to reload.

20250519_180457.jpg

Now for some numbers..........

Base line I used the FX 25.4 grain pellets

Fx Pellets 25.4 grains
Power wheel at 12
Average 976 FPS
Spread 7 FPS
STD 2.1 FPS

A heck of a "standard" if you look at the numbers, but then looking at the group it isn't anything to be upset at. This is the group in the center of the target.

Then we went to slugs to see what would happen. I will say that all of the slugs went into the barrel MUCH smoother than they did at the last outing. Who would have guessed that a breech seal would make things much nicer!

Javelin .218 26 grain slugs
Power wheel at 10
Average 964 FPS
Spread 25 FPS
STD 7.7 FPS

Javelin .218 30 grain slugs
Power wheel at 10
Average 892 FPS
Spread 44 FPS
STD 12.1 FPS

Javelin .218 30 grain slugs
Power wheel at 12
Average 911 FPS
Spread 19 FPS
STD 7.1 FPS

Corbin 34 grain ( these are the slugs that I am shooting out of my HM1000X )
Power wheel at 12
Average 847 FPS
Spread 38 FPS
STD 12.2 FPS

Corbin 34 grain
Power wheel at MAX
Average 874 FPS
Spread 39 FPS
STD 11.4 FPS

Corbin 27 grain
Power wheel at 12
Average 905 FPS
Spread 97 FPS
STD 31.1 FPS

I didn't like this one. And while I was sitting and talking with the RO it dawned on me.... I went from MAX power down to 12. So I went ahead and did another string of 10 shots to see if this was a fluke or actual numbers

Corbin 27 grain
Power wheel at 12
Average 932 FPS
Spread 30 FPS
STD 8.9 FPS

Much better, but I still think that these will be able to do better with some more tuning and playing.

Corbin 25.5 grain X-Punch Flat Base
Power wheel at 12
Average 957 FPS
Spread 11 FPS
STD 3.5 FPS

Again these were all shot at around 20 yards, so nothing long range about them. But it was able to give me a good enough insight on what the barrel is doing. I am also going to play with some weights as well to see if I can't get an EXACT weight for the slugs. Thammer did say that he was shooting around 26 grain or less slugs at 940 fps . I did go a little higher to see what will work, and I am glad that some of them did.

As soon as the rain settles down up here I am going to get some 50 yard and 100 yard groups from the barrel.

Attempting to rescue a bad barrel - the SPA M25 in .35 cal

Well I finally got a chance to revisit the .35 cal SPA M25. It's been mothballed for a while....when I set it aside, it was still producing poor groups after having taken a first pass at correcting the poor factory crown and working the bore with a cast lap. That history is covered in this 2023 thread if anyone is interested:

My lingering suspicions were with the threaded stub at the muzzle:
00 the suspect.jpg

Pushing through a pellet, I could feel it relax a little right at the end, which is a pretty typical byproduct of removing material from the OD for the threading operation.

Some the available options to deal with this problem are:
  • apply a choke - I just haven't had much success with this in the past.
  • lap the bore - it's one thing to pour a cast lap and work out a tight spot, but when the tight spot is 98% of the length of the barrel, no thanks!
  • chop off the offending threaded portion - this approach is the easist solution, except that I want to retain the factory shroud and LDC.
  • replace the barrel - probably the best option in terms of odds of success, but I'm just not inclined to spend that kind of money and machining time, at least not until I've tried addressing the known deficiency of the OEM barrel.
So out came the hacksaw...
01 chop barrel.jpg

And then on to making an adapter that fits over the end of the barrel and provides the threaded feature for attaching the shroud and LDC. A few operations into turning it from a piece of 1" aluminum rod stock:
02 adapter.jpg

For a novice like me, single point threading on a manual lathe is a bit nerve-wracking but I like this method. Mount the cutter upside down and run the lathe in reverse so the carriage is autofeeding away from the workpiece. Easy peasy.
03 adapter threaded.jpg

Here's the end result.
04 adapter installed.jpg

The attractive machined finish is gone because I did some final shaping on the OD with an emery wheel and files. Why? Well, I wanted to use grub screws to secure it to the barrel, which meant I needed the wall to be thick enough to thread...but that meant it would barely fit through the shroud, blocking rearward airflow and rendering the shroud ineffective. So what I did was thin out the wall everywhere except in four little anthills where each of the grubscrews is located. It ain't pretty but it works, and thankfully no one but me will probably ever see it.

Back to the barrel itself. In the lathe, faced off the end to get rid of the rough hacksaw cut. Then applied a crown with the brass screw method:
05 barrel crown.jpg

I don't care how many times I see it, there's just something satisfying about a crisp crown.

Then poured a cast lap:
06 lap freshly cast.jpg

And proceeded to work the bore:
07 lapping fixture.jpg

Even with a fairly aggressive abrasive, the work goes slowly. A generously long lap is good for maximizing the scrubbing action:
08 cast lap used.jpg

While I had it apart, I looked over at the hammer spring and decided to see about addressing the annoying hammer bounce with a simple SSG. Started by taking a piece of scrap stock and making a spring retainer. Simple stepped part dimensioned to the spring ID and OD, center drilled and tapped. Parting it off in the lathe:
09 SSG spring retainer.jpg

Threaded a piece of 4mm brass bar stock on each end and drilled a clearance hole in the end cap. The parts laid out:
10 SSG exploded.jpg

Dry fitted together:
11 SSG assembled.jpg

Back into the gun:
12 SSG cocked.jpg

Then making room for it in the stock. Took a 24" long 1/4" drill bit and bored out a hole for the SSG, followed by some hand shaping a bell mouth with a carbide burr:
13 stock prepped for SSG.jpg

Again, zero points for pretty.

Then some trial and error getting the preload tweaked for the velocity knee:
14 chrono.jpg

Ahhh, the flatulent hammer bounce is gone. But the burning question is, will it group now or will it continue to make buckshot patterns? Well, here's the first 50yd 5-shot group:
15 first group Hades 50y 0.88in.jpg

I mean, it's not a great group but it's the best group I've gotten from this rifle to date (0.88" at 50y).

Could just be a fluke but I'm hand pumping this beast so I decided to try one with the JSB domes:
16 second group JSB 50y 0.56in.jpg

That one measures 0.56" CTC...flirting with MoA. I'm definitely going to have to do more testing but these early indicators suggest a barrel of a very different character.

That's about it for now. My hope is this pictorial will provide at least a teaspoon of inspiration to someone to tackle a stubborn barrel and whip it into shape. This was a long post so thanks for reading.

N/A  EXPLODING PCP???

I've often wondered about PCP air tube or bottles exploding, but I thought that I was overly paranoid, as I've never heard of this danger before.

Well, today I received pictures from a friend who purchased a new well regarded PCP. He sighted it a few weeks ago (I have to check our texts) and it was MOA at 75 yards so he was happy.

He is an experienced PCP and piston airgun owner of many years and is a mature, seasoned, and meticulous outdoorsman.

Today at home, there was an explosion and the PCP's airtube literally split in half wide open from one end to the other with two half cylinders mangled. The force was so high that the barrel bent, and the gun case was shattered along with different parts of the gun. AND some other hunting equipment nearby was also broken.

This is stunning, and I'm not sure what to think. If he were holding it, I believe that it would have taken his arm or hand out, and possibly blinded or deafened him, or worse.

Has this happened before elsewhere?? How dangerous are PCPs to such explosions?

I'm not mentioning any brands for now as I don't want to the focus to be on a particular brand, but the safety of PCP itself.

Thanks

Optics  SOLD WTS Nikko Sterling Diamond 10-50x60 Rifle Scope $500

SOLD

This is a nitrogen gas-filled scope.
The main tube is 30mm.
The reticle is Mil Dot, perfect for long-range shooting.

This scope would be an excellent bench-rest scope, and it’s also great for long-distance shooters who use tripods. (That’s how I used it, actually.)

Now, it’s a bit heavy at 2 pounds 13 ounces, which is a plus since it’s so well-made. But if you plan to carry your gun all day, it might be a bit heavy.

The scope comes with a sunshade, large range wheel, and a large elevation turret. You can write yardages on the ranging wheel so you can get the distance by looking through the optics and seeing when the target becomes clear at high magnification (50x). Then, set the vertical turret (you can also create a custom label for this large turret) to the exact distance to have the point of impact right in the center of the crosshairs.

If you know your ballistics well, you can also use the mil-dots and not touch the vertical turret at all.

These scopes when new were around $1000

I will absorb the PayPal fee, and you pay shipping.

The shipping box will be 26x8x8, and the weight will be approximately 3 lbs, so you can estimate shipping costs accordingly. Given that it is a scope, I'd recommend adding insurance for the purchase price.

Just Introducing Myself

Hello everyone. I'm just posting to introduce myself. I am a 47 year old avid airgunner from Corpus Christi, TX. I fell in love with airguns as a young man starting with a Crosman Phantom break-barrel rifle shooting .177 caliber. I remember the first time I shot it and my passion for all things airgun was born that day. Since then I've moved on to high end PCP pistols and rifles such as the Huben GK1 to the Daystate Delta Wolf just to name a few. All truth be told I have way too many now and may be selling some off in your communities Classifieds section in the coming weeks so my wife can stop telling me I own too many. :p

It was a pleasure to say hello and I look forward to the wonderful community you have here. :)

PCP Pistol  WTS Barely used, excellent condition .25 AEA SS Tac Pistol

Really fun to shoot. But I also have an AEA SS Plus all decked out that I use and this one is just collecting dust. Fired maybe 200 shots out of it. I installed a brand new valve pin as well just to "reset" its life expectancy (easy to do if it ever fails). No leaks, wear, or issues. Tiny scratch at the end of the barrell is the only sign it's used. Shoots slugs no problem. $300 plus shipping. Shipping from Florida east coast. Zelle or Venmo. Once you agree to puchase, I will get a shipping amount from US Pak-N-Ship right down the street here.
Comes with:
Gun
2 11-shot magazines
2 picatinny rail adapters
1 fill probe

I'll respond to DM's very quickly.
I know I haven't been very active on here, so if you have any credibility concerns let me know what I can do to put you at ease.

air gunners logo ideas-04 - Copy.jpg

Oklahoma City Had their 2nd N50 match of the year. We would have had an April match but we got just a little rain here! Actually a lot of rain!!
It was a nice day to shoot temperature wise but a little switch wind. The wind stayed around 5-7 mph but was really switching from all direction making it tuff to read. We had 17 shooters show up and shot the first match. And 9 of those guys stayed and shot the second match! We all had a great time shooting N50, as we always do!!!😍. Here are the scores and photos.
Thanks to all that help setup and tear down for the matches. Cannot do it with Y'all.....
