I got invited to shoot with the Orchard Mesa Gun Club guys at their monthly 100y Rimfire match. Everyone there was really nice and very inquisitive about my slug gun. Great group of guys.

They shoot 2 cards at 100y. The first is the IBS Hunter 200y target, and the second is the IBS 100y Hunter target. The 200y target has a 1” ten ring, and the 100y is a 1/2” ten ring.

There were a total of 14 shooters. The wind ranged from 3-8 or 9 at times and covered about every direction except a tail wind. It was pretty overcast, so at least there was no mirage to contend with.

I was able to take 1st place with a score of 488 8x. I shot my Thomas Slug gun using 39 gr slugs at 850fps. I was really happy with how the gun shot and didn’t have any shots that went somewhere unreasonable for the conditions.

The cards were 5 record bulls and one sighter bull. 5 shots into each for score. I had 3 instances where one of my shots went into an existing hole and was a little worried that the scorer would think I only took 4 shots, but he was very experienced and identified them all.

I measured all the 5 shot groups on both cards when I got home just to get an idea of average group size. All 10 5 shot groups averaged .66 MOA. That’s about right for this gun.

I had a good time and it was only 40 minutes from home. Although I normally don’t shoot at 100y…I’ll probably go next month because it was really nice to shoot with others instead of practicing by myself.

I really hate how IG sizes pics , it's terrible but that group is a 10 shot group at 50 yards with a shot string in pics as well.

This is a Beeman P3 which is the rebranded HW40. 177 caliber. Made in Germany. I bought it new when they came out. Removed the sights and added a Sniper 4x32AO illuminated mil-dot reticle scope to it. This is not a eer pistol scope but a rifle scope. I cradled the pistol in my arms when shooting a 10 meter league decades ago. Shot it as well as a match rifle. I reinforced the rear of the scope (see pics) so the downward cocking force did not put stress on the rings-to-rail and could be cocked closed by the top of the scope. Functions perfectly. I live on Long Island NY and it is very hard to shoot here. I had 6 acres and a mobile home in upstate NY with an awesome range set up. It took me several years to make the range perfect for me. We had it for about 16 years but sold it when my kids went to college to help with money and we also planned on moving to Florida. Well after having our primary residence on the market with open houses and lots of strangers walking thru, my wife came clean and said she doesn’t want to move south. So I just made an offer on a 13.86 acre rural property Close to where I was before and near friends. No house, electric, well or cesspool.…..yet. The property is heavily wooded with a huge stream at the bottom. They just accepted my offer after several negotiations. Very excited to have my own property again. Gonna be a lot of work to clean out a driveway and camp area and then a new range. But Im most excited about is the multiple deer runs on the land. I saw multiple coyote and raccoon tracks and some torn up eaten grouse. So it should be a good place to hunt also.

This is a Slavia 618. It’s marked “The Minuteman” and was the U.S import version back in 60’s. Made by CZ of Czechoslovakia. A company well know for accuracy. It’s a youth model but a has a full length stock for adults also. .177 caliber. Been tuned. Refinished the stock. Bluing is original and good. I added a set of Williams aperture and globe sight. Trigger is about a pound. Shoots around 450 fps with Basic 7 grain lead pellets. It’s a shooter. Shot it in a league one night decades ago against some impressive German Match rifles. Enjoyed the look on some faces. Buttery smooth cocking and firing behavior. The sights alone are over $75. $155 plus $15 shipping.

The old- standard diabolo pellets and polymags. The new, hades/atomics and slug/hybrids. does the old still have game? Or are we seeing a passing of the gaurd?

I bought a kral empire xs .25 from krale on 8-13-22 Friday. Let’s see how long it takes to get to Michigan, it shipped 8-15-22 Monday and as of now is in Koeln Denmark. UPS says delivery on Wednesday 8-17-2022 that is crazy in my mind!!! I never had a bull pup and never had anything with a woodstock and there are very little reviews, I wished I could of had a .22 but a .25 will suffice I can’t wait!!! It sure is a looker!!! I'm looking to buy a cheap compressor from Amazon, like $200-300. What are the important stuff I should look for? It looks like some have auto-shutoff, some have a 110v adapter (it seems it would better if adapter doesn't exist and made for 110v instead). Would anyone have a specific Amazon link for one that they use, and that has worked with no major issues?

I was thinking Yong Heng compressor.. but it seems awfully complicated with oils, water, pumps, and hoses and stuff... It sounds like something that would not work, and I wont be able to figure out, or have to spend much time trying to figure out.

I do NOT need to use it using the car battery. I just need something that plugs in, simple to use.

Like new condition, purchased new in may this year, added 1 in 26 twist 30 cal tj barrel, barrel professionally machined. Ported tranfer port, valve, snd barrel to match. Machined custom, Vented air steipper with added 6 baffles and Donnyfl sumo, super quiet. Upgraded ninja regulator, reg pressure set to 3020 psi. Trigger springs replaced and sears shimmed and polished, tuned to Shoot 44 grn at 1010fps for 4 magazine's (28 shots per fill). Shoots slugs very accurate to 180 yards, consistently can hit golf balls at 150 yards. Jsb pellets very accurate as well. 200 griffin slugs and 2 magazines included. Scope not included. 30 cal is too much for my small back yard and I have too many long range hunting guns. May consider trades for pcp in .22 cal for a yard gun. Asking $650 shipped in original box

Bit of a rough start- extended Foster fitting you need for filling was nowhere to be found, & the 0DB moderator ordered with it is a .25 instead of the .177/.22 . No worries- spoke to the vendor & they're taking care of it, new package already on the way. Meanwhile, found a female Foster in my collection that is a hair longer than the others. It's just long enough to connect & disconnect, so all is well.

Couple young bucks showed up to check out the action.


Got the scope mounted & set up my makeshift "bench" to get a rough zero at what turned out to be 30 yards. Top hole is the first shot, the next few bounced around the X as I adjusted until satisfied. Then shot 7 (or 8, lost count) at the "9", pretty happy with that! Should've tried a group at 50 since the wind was almost zero, but was anxious to try some offhand. All shooting with JSB 10.34 tonight.


Shoot a lot offhand, & always worry about how I'll mesh with it in that position when I haven't fired one previously. Happy to report that after a few quick stock adjustments, it's going to work out just fine.


A bit heavier than I'm used to, which is a good thing. 9 lbs 14 oz as shown. Moderator is a Buckrail I have that was homeless. (Compared it to the .25 0DB, & they were about equal in sound- it's really quiet!) Once the correct 0DB gets here & I put it on, along with the Sightron side wheel, will probably weigh in a bit over 10 lbs.


That trigger... oh my. First electronic trigger & it's different, but boy do I like it! Have had the pleasure of owning some guns with great triggers- Taipan Veteran & Anschutz 1712 come to mind -but this may already be my favorite.
Much more "work" to be done...
- Verify my scope leveling job is spot on
- Compare 10.34 & 13.43 (both OG & RD) accuracy on High power
- Test 8.44 pellets on low power
- Chronograph strings
- Fine tune zero if necessary
- Possibly fine tune comb/buttpad adjustments
- Get dope out to 55
- Get parallax side wheel marked
- Maybe try my hand at field target???

First, going to get a tin or so through her as currently set up to get past any settling in period, & to get completely comfortable with the rifle.

Topped off my feeders about 6pm last night, woke up to two feeders half empty,
I hate Flying Squirrels, they are light enough to sit on the Grey Menace proof feeders, they eat for hours, move ridiculously fast, almost demon like, their nails up and down the trees in pitch black is f'n unnerving and they GLIDE!!! WTF..

Cam caught them last night; you can see a feeder swinging in the frame..
