AirArms S500 XS Problem

I have a brand new S500 Carbine XS, which I bought from PA about 2 years ago. Only shot maybe 10 pellets through it, when it first arrived. It worked perfectly and on high power it was shooting properly. Now I pulled it out after a year, still holding air fully all the while. But with a full charge, on high, it barely pushes the pellet out. It's now running 200 fps via both chronys. I shot about 20 pellets to see if it needed to settle for some reason but no, still barely shooting. Any idea what might be happening? Of course I'll send it right back to PA as soon as they will answer, but I've waited on hold for service now for several days now and haven't yet reached anyone.

Ideas?

NLA Kalibrgun Cricket 2 Tactical 60 .22

I bought this off of the forum because of the SC stock. It was stated as shoots “very well” however after receiving it appears that the pellet port was massaged to the point of where pellets try to drop thru and it there fore jams. Since I have no interest in a slug only gun I wish to recoup what I can and move on. The gun does shoot but as far as accuracy I have no idea. Comes with what you see in the pictures. Pictures appear to have thread protector on barrel but it does not.$1150 shipped. I have someone interested in just the stock so will sell for $875 for just the gun if that deal works out

Sparrow issues made difficult by gramma!

I’ve got sparrow problems, and it’s only because of a 80 year old gramma that freaking loves all birds.
Long story short I have put up swallow nesting boxes and successfully defended them from all comers, starlings and sparrows.
You can see the male sparrow on the wire near the pole.
They have displaced two families of swallows so far, and there’s only six boxes.
For three years I’ve made it possible for the swallows to gain a foot hold here.
Then the dilemma… the landlord’s parents have moved in next door.
And the mom doesn’t understand that invasive species are decimating the song bird population.
I shot a starling and she went ballistic… have you ever been the target of a stream of F-bombs coming from gramma?
At one point she briskly walked up to me like she was going to slap me lol.
I asked her if she was going to hit me and she said “ someone should “
I have full permission to do what I want here as far as pesting, the landlord loves shooting and so I’m pretty safe.
The mom has dementia and is driving everyone nuts, including family.
So I’m being extremely careful about sniping the sparrows to not disturb her if possible.
So a few minutes ago I saw her go into the house and I quickly and quietly RedWolfed the female of a pair of sparrows!
And got it into the dumpster without being discovered.
Successful pesting is so satisfying!

Yep…Weihrauch is better than Air Arms…sorry not sorry

So after owning both a Weihrauch HW98 + 2 HW95s and an Air Arms TX200…I can conclude that after seeing the internals of both and their firing cycles+accuracy…the HW98 is the better rifle. My TX200 has a smoother action sure (it’s got a V-Mach kit and all polished internals with a brand new seal from ARH)…but it really doesn’t matter to me since the design is plainly less desirable to me. My HW98 is practically stock aside from some Krytox. In my eyes the Weihrauchs are built to last while the AAs require the aid of their lifetime warranty. I wish this not to be slander…I’m just speaking from my own experience. Yours may differ. If you’re stuck between an HW98/HW97K or an Air Arms TX200…then go with the Weihrauch. I give you my word that no stock TX200 can outperform a stock HW98 or HW97K in accuracy. Only thing the AA will outperform the Weihrauch in is no spring sound and a smoother shot cycle. Then again a small bottle of Krytox will take the spring buzz noise away and is only $20. The TX200 goes for $700 without tax while the HW97K is selling for $500 total on Krale. You can be the judge of which one is worth it.

Edit: I should mention that there is a reason why Steve from AEAC asked to keep the blue laminate HW97 he reviewed but did not do the same for the TX200 he reviewed. Don’t quote me on it though.

Fx maverick and competitors

Not entirely sure this avenue has been spoken of. Now based on my friends physical liabilities from a stroke, he can only operate a right handed side lever and I’m looking for a 30cal pellet package. The tactical design is crucial, he struggled with bigger, stocks , such as taipan and cricket platforms, I have it narrowed down to raw hm 1000x chassis, maverick, dreamtac . There has to be others. The prophet 2 has left side lever- out. The dreamtac has longer length and less top power stock than the maverick. Which leaves the raw hm1000x chassis. Any feedback on these over the other and any other models. - mag fed , multi shot, so no air force. I’m listening! 👍

Results  XFT Phoenix, June Night Match-2022

Ben hosted the second XFT night match at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club this past Saturday night and it was an absolute blast!!!

Colben and I arrived at 730, just as the sun was setting (no daylight savings time here in AZ ;)).
sunset.jpg

I was more than a little concerned watching the shrubs and trees blowing around in those last few miles of the drive, and the flag at the sight in range was whipping pretty good. But it settled down quickly and laid down to the point that I personally feel like this was the XFT match with the least amount of wind to account for, at least of the ones that I have attended. Granted, I still held when I didn't need to a time or two, or didn't hold off enough here and there, and other shooters reported the same.

We had a total of 9 shooters, 7 shooting pellets and 2 shooting rimfire.

Unloading back at the range...

That secondary parking area sits above some of the course and it was super cool to look out and see all the targets lighting up as Ben was getting all the lights on (this next one was taken at twilight and it was actually darker than it appears in this photo).
course at twilight.jpg

Here's a short un-edited video showing the main graveled foot path and the shooting stations and how Ben went about lighting them. He went through some trial and error prior to opening this up to the public. In that testing he found that too much light right on the rubber mats that we shoot from was creating glare in the scope, so the lights right by the shooter are quite dim. The lights along the main footpath are staggered on either side. There was plenty of light to get around safely. In fact, the only time I needed auxiliary lighting of my own was dialing turrets, marking the scorecard, and making sure the pellet was pointed the right direction prior to shutting the cocking lever. Somebody made the comment that the city light pollution actually kept it from ever getting completely dark. I had no problems walking safely and otherwise negotiating the course.

Ben set a 32 shot course, lane 9 was offhand but with the reducers completely removed (3 inch killzones). I won't name names here, but one of the 23s would have been a tie with Sandy and I if he hadn't missed all 4 offhand shots. Live or die by forced position shots in field target, XFT or otherwise. Sandy and I each missed one of our far offhand shots, going 3/4 on that lane. Our tie was broken by longest streak.
Only two shooters (Sandy and Wayne) dropped the 100 yard target on both shots.
The three way tie of 23 is in no particular order.
Ben had the best knockdown ratio on the far targets, and that includes the rimfires.

We had Stan join us for the first time and we talked a bit before the match. Cool guy-I hope he becomes a regular.

scorecard.jpg

My take:

What an awesome experience!!! Shooting at field targets in the dark has to be experienced to truly get a feel for how fun and unique it is. The image of a lighted target through the scope is so clear and sharp compared to the daytime. You also get to occasionally see that cloud of lead vapor from the pellet impacting the paddle, which I've only ever seen at night. Words don't do it any justice. Ben asked for suggestions for any improvements and the only thing I could come up with was that it was over too quickly!!!

Generally speaking, this was the first match that I've had the feeling that a clean "perfect" score is possible in XFT. I think the 27/32 (84.4%) knockdown percentage is my personal best and Ben was even closer with a 91%. We're slowly getting there, figuring out how to make this long range challenge work, and enjoying every minute of it!

A note on Ben.....one of the lights went out on a target between the time I walked up to the lane and the time I sat down. I called him and, although I was not even running the match, I had a little anxiety about how we were going to handle a light going out. But Ben had it all under control. He trotted up with a replacement light, walked out, replaced it, and ran back down the trail to continue shooting himself down at his lane. The whole "cold lane" couldn't have taken more than 4 minutes. I was impressed that he had contingency plans in place to ensure that we all enjoyed it. Not only that, all the lights and auxiliary/necessary equipment was purchased out of Ben's pocket. Blows me away all the time what that guy does to share the enjoyment he gets from airguns with others. More often than not he is doing nearly, and sometimes, ALL of the work. And on that note, COME JOIN US!!! You will have a good time, guaranteed. Ben will make sure of it.
