Hi,

The short:
Please name some classic break barrels you'd recommend. I would like to use them for quick squirrel shots in the backyard. 25yards max.

The long:
After owning a PCP I figured I would not get a break barrel. But then a friend linked some video about the Beeman R9 and it just looks so neat, classic and accurate. It would be nice to have an inexpensive rifle with an inexpensive LPVO, just ready to go when needed for a quick shot. At the moment my only rifle is an FX M3. It is set up for slugs for my evening coon hunts. It is just an overkill for morning and late afternoon squirrel runs. I can change the tune quickly, but I have found I do need to zero again for bullet drop, even at 15 yards. It is not practical for a quick shot. Another .22 pellet gun would be nice. Just grab it when the opportunity comes.

I started to look. I looked at the Weihrauch HW30 and that is also super neat. Maybe top on the list. It is also on sale now. The R9 is neat of course. Also on sale. I have been looking at a Gamo break barrels too but they look modern. I usually prefer a synthetic stock, but for this rifle wood would be neat. I am sure CZ makes some too but I did not see any. I love products from the Czech and the Germans. I try to avoid products from China except if they are really good (like DJI drones) or that Air Ventury. Alternatively, I was thinking to just get that Air Ventury. It seams to be so damn accurate. But nothing classic about it. Still it would be a cheap gun to grab for a quick shot.

what calibers are best? i have heard .25 and .30? is shot placement different than with a powder burner. i see youtube video's of guys shooting squirrels with 25-30 and they head shoot them?

Sent these after my workday, light was fading fast and the little West Hunter suffers in low light at 12x. With a larger, brighter scope, I believe they can be better. Will soon be putting that to the test when my second Atomic arrives.

Hello everyone! I am quite new to the airgun community (only own a few big bores only for hunting) and I am wanting to make a crossman 2240 HPA bottle build but I have absolutely no idea where to start or how much it will cost. I am wanting to make something similar to this.

Am thinking about painting this one. If you have done a Crosman pistol, please post a picture and let us know how you did it. I did the vent rib on this one for now a really like how it looks. Flat black spray paint is what I used.

Ok been all over the map with thinking and I think I might just plunge and buy a cat BT value priced edition. To start I am wondering from anyone that has bought a new Maverick or BT wildcat what the out of the box tune was in 25 caliber and how good was it? Assuming they would throw a tune conducive of shooting 25.39? I have a bunch of those and hades that I would be shooting. I’m hoping to start by just using the factory tune. Where should I expect the regs to be set from the factory ? Also I have watched Steve’s Maverick tuning video extensively so I would eventually tweak it for optimum efficiency with 25.39 and hades. Do you guys have any good suggestions for settings on the BT wildcat in 25 with 600 mm barrel, everything stock, for 25.39 ? Thank you much.

These groups were shot with JSB Jumbo 15.89 grn Diabolo pellets offhand at 50 yards. There were 2-8 mph wind gusts (diagonal crosswind). Scope used is a Vector Veyron 4-16x44 FFP IR at 6 x magnification.

For a minute I was in the zone. The rest of this group looks like crap.


For comparison this is the only group shot off sticks. My arms got tired because I’m out of shape. This gun is heavier than what I’m used to and it feels front heavy.


This groups is a result of me shooting offhand trying to judge wind with no flags only using plants.

These aren’t great groups and this I why I make it a point to punch paper. I haven’t had time to shoot much this year.

Hey guys , If your having issues with the cocking lever pin , then you need this grooved clevis pin and clip , Its like they were made for this gun a perfectly tight fit . Maybe It will also fit a lot of other under levers .

I have two bipods lightly used. The first is a MAGPUL with an M-LOC. I purchased the MAGPUL bipod last week and I don't like it at all.
It is great if you don't have a sock full of sand or tree stump to lean on.
It is perfect for free and all you have to pay for is shipping. I figured I would wrap the box in some bubble wrap and some brown paper and ship it as is, unless you prefer more packing






Second one id a UTG rubber coated bipod, again its great if its free. I have had this one a few years and I am only looking for the shipping. This one has a picatinny lever lock. It fits in the small POST OFFICE flat rate shipping box, which is $10.20. I take paypal or cash.

I am quite new to shooting, and I am interested in trying rabbit hunting for fun and food. I am in Los Angeles County. I see varying information on the Internet about 22 caliber, being the better pellet for rabbits, but I have also seen information on these boards, indicating that .177 is more than enough pellet to do the job. I am thinking of getting an HW 50 .177 as a starter as opposed to an HW 95. If I become proficient and find a reason for a .22 I am thinking I could add an HW 95 in that caliber later. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't leak after first fill and charged my Shen Yang just fine. After getting tank filled second time (local dive shop) it now leaks air where the big threads go into the valve on the bulk air tank. Sorry for noob terms. Don't know what to call it. I'll include a picture showing where it seems to be leaking as I fill the gun. I did replace the o-ring inside this area with no change in it leaking.

I saw a dinky little break in the trees behind my office yesterday, so I put a 12" gong out there. Here is where it is:

This is as far out as I can go and still have the mountain as a backstop. I have no idea how far that is, but my parallax got really clear just under 100 yards, so maybe 95ish?

This is my most difficult target to see/notice, but once you know it is there, it is pretty easy to hit. Actually it is too easy to hit, so I will probably put a 4" or smaller gong over there.

So, I've got about a 1 foot opening in the trees that will get me out to just about 100 yards. What do you guys have to go through to "reach out" as far as you can?

Has anyone had or currently using any of the westhunter optics..just trying to get a idea of the quality of the product..for the price it seems kinda hard to beat..
