Update on picking a portable compressor.

In an earlier post I detailed my hunt for a portable compressor, wanted the 12 volt option. My first choice was the GX CS2 Portable PCP Air Compressor 4500Psi/30Mpa Oil-Free Powered by Car 12Vunit. Let me say this is a very nice compact unit, and it worked. But it was a little on the slow side and did not have a cut off setting so I returned it. For the one gun guy this would be a great unit. I wanted a little shorter fill times and the cutoff setting. I did not want to have to babysit the CS2 while it was filling. I wanted one I could set it 300 psi below fill pressure and have it cutoff while loading magazines resetting or rehanging targets and it the cut off failed I would be able to catch it. So I ordered the big brother GX-CS3, it arrived DOA. Fans would fire up but the pump would do nothing. Supplier was out and could not replace it, so back it went. Up next after much research I chose the Toauto it had one design I liked more than the CX-3, it used one button for on and off where the CX3 had a on and off button. So the Toauto comes in and the fans fire up and close the bleeder valve and stats to pump for a minute and the pump shutoff. So I am in to this 3 pumps deep at this point. Mind you I have a YH down stairs that I am trying to find a quick fix for the once in a while fast fill without the frozen water bottles and high output fan being drug out. So now I am going to try one of the VEVOR PCP Air Compressor 12V/110V/220V for Scuba Compressor 30Mpa Auto-Stop. I know someone who has the smaller unit and it has been good for a couple of years. Here's a video of the Toauto dying while still new.. After the first fill attempt (Video is 2nd) I decided to reach out to the company and see about some customer service and see what could be done. That was on Dec16th and still no reply.

  • Question
Parallax error

I don't know a ton about the subject all I know is that it made my shooting much more consistent and my groups half the size but mark and sam after work is where I found the video titled parallax (for a better group) and what I learned is amazing maybe I sound stupid because this is shooting 101 but I've never heard of parallax error until now and I'm blown away by how much of a difference it makes these are 2 of my 5 shot groups from earlier today at 100 yds

M3 impact 30 caliber question

Ok, here goes.
I bought the gun used .
It was an M3 non powerblock 22cal impact compact. I sent it back to FX because reg.#2
Was leaking. while it was there i ordered an 800mm 30cal barrel and tensioner so i called fx and asked them to install a powerblock and that i had the 30cal Barrel and tentioner ready to install so if they could tune it for that setup. My gun is set up as follows.
Reg. 1) 150
Reg. 2) 100
Power wheel ) 16
Micro ) 3
Valve adjuster 4.5 lines
47.2gr. NSA slugs
800mm 30cal barrel with tensioner
The person i talked to at fx said i should get between 900-950fps w/a 62gr Nielsen slug instead I'm getting 732 w/a 47.2gr Nielsen slug that's only 56 fpe
Done!

Was supposed to have been rebuilt, and it shoots strong, 650-660fps, so I have no doubt it was. I had no issues with the rifle. It is as accurate as you would expect. I just do not shoot it.

Complete with sights.

$550 FTF in the Hampton Roads area of VA. The scope, Swift 1.5-4.5X21, and rings can be had for an extra $125

Carm Magazines first impressions.

WOW,WOW and double WOW. Just got some Daystate Huntsman Classic .177s in for Darko at Carm. I buy and sell a lot of better grade knives, mostly autos and folders. The way I judge them is by how smooth the actions are. My favorites are Zero Tolerance flippers that have been tuned, they are butter smooth. Well these magazines are double butter smooth. Here are some pictures and a video of them. They are a fourth the cost od Daystate magazines and custom color offered. The small one is 10 rounds and the larger are 14 rounds. Unfortunately Darko doesn't offer all brands, I need some for my FX 400 but they are not in his wheel house.

Milrad or MOA

Hey everyone I’m looking to get a new scope for my new delta wolf. I am looking at the Athlon Midas tac 6-24x50 for benchrest and if my wish comes true EBR 2023. So for many years I’ve been shooting with no thought of mil vs moa and now as i age ( a little too fast) I’m actually putting some thought into my choices. What do most shooters use Mil or Moa both for field target and benchrest? Also if anyone has an opinion on the Midas Tac based on real world experience I would appreciate hearing from you. I currently run the 4-16 Midas Tac on my fx wildcat mklll.

Are 300 bar bottles worth the effort?

I bring this up because I've been thinking on this for a while, and just filled 7 SCBA tanks yesterday, 3 from 0 to 310 bar, and 4 from 200 to 310 bar. The ones filled from empty are now at about 275 bar due to cooling off, and the ones "topped off" are at about 295 bar. So, let's say I filled to 320-ish, and then set them aside to cool, all 7 of them. Yes, I could go back today and fill them to 310 so that they would have 300 bar-ish when I get to the range or wherever I'm shooting...

OK, now let's look at the new gun(s) that some feel needs 300 bar bottles, or actually will need 300 bar to shoot a match in NRL-22 with the new P. In order to shoot 40 grain .22 caliber slugs at 1050 fps (remember, this is the "revolutionary" thing where the gun performs the same ballistically as the .22 LR subsonic rimfire). I think maybe 12 shots between fills are required for some of the longer stages, correct? So, if the gun (Pursuit of Accuracy video) gets 10 shots from 250 to 190 bar and the reg is at 175 bar with 34 grain slugs at 1040 fps with 250 bar bottle, and a shooter wants to shoot 40 grain at 1050 fps he'll most certainly need a 300-bar bottle. This means he needs to fill to 300 bar between EACH STAGE.

Now stay with me here. Your tank you bring can fill the first fill to 300 bar, since it started at about 300 bar. But what about future fills? How about the 5th or 6th fill (stage)? Certainly not 300 bar, maybe 250 to 260? Now how does the shooter get the shots necessary to complete the stage? Sure, he could bring more than one tank, and cart them around with him, but that's a big PITA. Things that make you go hmmm...

Slugs vs Pellets and Airgun Power vs The Law

I wonder how long before Alphabet org classifies Airguns as firearms. Maybe we should start getting ahead of this before they come after us. If we can identify the lawyers amongst us that would be willing to take on any infringements on our rights and would be willing to represent our rights in court it would be a start to protecting our rights. Would like to hear what others on the forum think.

Beeman HW97K Beauty

Just wanted tp post up a quick little initial post on my New to me Beeman HW97K.

I posted up in the classifieds a while back, looking for an HW97K, a few members pointed me towards Lewis (Lewis Mayfield) .
After contacting him we rapidly became good friends, I quickly found out he is a wealth of knowledge and has a treasure trove of guns...
He is a fellow lefty and has an extensive collection of guns, long story short, after several very long conversations i managed to talk him into selling one of his private stash guns.

The gun has been tuned by Lewis and has his "stank" all through it, he shot some test groups for me before sending it and the gun is ridiculously accurate, so much so he damn near backed out of the deal..

I got the scope mounted and will be zeroing her in today, i'll keep y'all posted on my new venture.

Got to love it 😎

Got him👊

So back in late July of this year I was talking with my neighbors to the right of me one morning. My neighbors wife asks me; so, have you seen the coyotes scaling the walls lately?
To which I replied; no I haven't. What time of day have you been seeing them at?
To which she replied; in the morning around dawn. We're worried about our dog because he's too old to fight.
Most days after that I made it a point to quietly walk out back to see if I could see anything and a couple of days I went out there and saw a pair, scaling the walls. There was a pair living in the yard of the unoccupied house behind my neighbor. At the time I only had a 22 Springer and my FX Dreamline Tactical, also in 22 cal. But I wanted something bigger to really be able to take them out in one shot. Not only to be humane but also because I don't want a wounded coyote running around the neighborhood, nor do I want to have it go and die in someone else's yard and then have to retrieve it there. So I purchased and built up an M3 Sniper in 30 cal with a 700mm barrel.
After having to scare one coyote off one morning as it was charging my daughters little dog, I started taking things more seriously. Now this whole situation has been a learning process, and a process in general. These coyotes were very illusive. Sometimes they would trigger the security light right outside my bedroom, but by the time I got up, looked out the window to see what it was, then grab my rifle, open up the door, they were long gone.
So, I put up motion detecting security lights on my pergola facing the corner of the yard that they were coming over to get in my yard. This would give me a few more seconds look out the window and get my rifle and open the door. But I was still a few seconds too slow. So then I changed my strategy. When the lights would come on I would skip looking out the window and instead just grab my M3 which was right by my door, open the door, chamber a round, then take aim. I was getting close but still a few seconds shy. So, I once again modified my strategy. Lights come on, don't look out the window, pick up the rifle and chamber a round before opening the door, take aim. I was only off by like 3 seconds several times. I narrowed it down to the rifle being too long to get through the door quick enough.

Fast forward to the beginning of this month. I purchased and built up an M3 Compact in 30 cal. Put a Titan scope on it with illuminated reticle because that is essential for low light and night time pesting. FX Hybrids were/ are my choice of projectile for this mission. 2 weeks ago I started dropping 1 collared dove a few times a week and putting them in a specific location in my yard. This was to be able to keep the coyotes still longer and to keep them occupied.
Fast forward to tonight. It was 11:45pm and I got up from my TV room to go to bed. As I entered the kitchen I saw through the French doors that the security lights were on. So I grabbed my 30 cal M3 Compact and headed to my room. The bedroom was dark still and I didn't turn on any lights. Headed to the French doors in my bedroom and saw the damn coyote on the small retaining wall 10 yards away from my door. I chambered a round, quietly opened the door, stepped outside, and scanned the perimeter. The wind was blowing towards me so that was good. I hear the coyote stepping on leaves right behind the bush just 10 yards from me so I wait quietly and patiently. Boom, I see him heading towards the corner of the yard where he usually jumps over and into my yard at. I raise my rifle, it's loaded and the illuminated reticle is on. He looks at me but has a confused look on his face like he didn't really know I was there. The 10,000 lumen light outside my door is also looking at him, making it hard for him to see me.
He jumps up before I can take a shot but his placement was off because as soon as he got to the top of the wall he forgot about the cactus on the other side. He got poked in the face and fell back down in my yard. He looked at me, I looked at him through my cross hairs and sent a 30 cal FX Hybrid right into his chest. He yelped real loud, did a little dance for about 2 seconds, stood real weak and looked straight at me and I squeezed the trigger and sent a second 30 cal FX Hybrid right into his mouth, dropping him on the spot without a twitch. Had this been daytime I would not have needed two shots, but in the dead of night, even with the security lights it was still pretty dark. I'm happy that my daughters little dog has one less coyote to worry about!
There will be more, but now I'm ready and have the process down to a science🤙
