Hi!

As an owner of a Weihrauch springer, I'm looking to buy my first PCP. I'm looking for a quiet (neighbor friendly), accurate and long range PCP. After searching I ended up with three options:

1. Air Arms S510 XS TDR or Air Arm S510T Tactical

2. Weihrauch HW100/110 ST.

3. FX Panthera or M3 or Wildcat mk3 bt.

I Liked the Weihrauch HW 110 ST it is the cheapest of them, but I read a lot of reviews of this gun that it has a power drop issue. The wildcat, hw100 and air arms have the same price.

I need your thought and opinions on which one do you recommend.

Note: I need the PCP for target practice only.

Could any one that owns a Feinwerkbau 800 Evolution Top, please confirm if the rear sight is mounted on an 11m dovetail.
Most pictures shows that the rear sight sits on some type of riser bridge, although no details of an 11m dovetail mount.

Ok I ordered my 2nd air rifle yesterday, the HW90 in 22 cal from Krale in Holland.

I have an Hw35E 22 I've owned for a grand total of a month and shoot it fairly regularly. I mainly shoot it out of my work building (at paper) when I take lunch breaks during the day

It's a pretty potent airgun for what it is, but I wanted something "more' powerful to scope up for some experimental fall hunting. I had bid on a Kodiak in 25 cal but lost out, so in the end I decided to try the Hw90.

I have read here on AN some claims of 30+FP with a 90 that's tuned with a "vac seal." Is there any realistic possibility in that?
I'm guessing it's hard on scopes, I have some Japanese Classic Weavers and a Leupold 12x to spare as well as a vomz 4x w druganov reticle that I kind of like...Anyone have experience with life expectancy here?

Yes, I know, it's the classic rookie mistake to buy a hot magnum air gun up front, and complain about accuracy later. I'm game to try it though.

I haven't chrony'd my 35e but It does have enough oomph to put a Crossman pellet through 1x pine. I do notice the skirts on the pellets are blown out/expanded fairly heavily. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be a better pellet for both of these rifles?

Argh.... desire....argh.....must resist temptation.....temporarily anyhow. Just bought an Omega Air Charger (could've been called an Omega Creditcard Charger). This will power my 10 pcp's for an initial cost of only $150.- per gun. Heck, I spent more on a scope. If the compressor lasts a few years without too much tinkering that will bring the cost down to less then 50.- per gun per year. My plan is to get a few more guns, thereby lowering the cost even further! What could possibly go wrong?

I'd like to know, what are in your opinion the best budget or low mid-end springers out there, that have good out of the box accuracy and that are capable of maintaining that accuracy for the first 1000 rounds, without the piston seal getting chewed up or significantly worn out, or the mainspring getting too weak or even bent for that matter. If you personally have the mentioned airgun in your collection or inventory, then please also explain what you found particularly well made or otherwise above average on that gun. I'd also appreciate, if you could tell me what was going on with the gun, after you've put 1000 pellets through it... How much accuracy did it lose, if any? Did it destroy any of your scopes? Has it lost a lot of power?

These things in particular are what interests me. Now, with that out of the way, I should also explain to you, that I recently made an error in the title of the article on the review of my Gamo Big Cat 1000, by entitling it with the term "Mid-Tier"... I now realize, that gun belongs in the budget tier of springers and not into the mid-end one. However, the accuracy it delivered out of the box with .177 JSB Exact pellets (with 4.52mm heads), was actually pretty good, at least in my opinion.

Have a look at a couple of groups, that were shot at 15 and 25 meters, which the Gamo served me with:

I had the gun fitted with an UTG-Leapers 3-9x42mm scope. This is the kind of accuracy I'd be expecting from a good, budget to low mid-end springer.
So, are there any out there with proven track records for maintaining accuracy through the first 1000 pellets?

Looking to buy a 700 Panthera for bench shooting 50 to 200 yards. No competition. Need your thoughts please on a 25 or 30 caliber. Slugs only. I have owned several quality pellet shooters in both calibers and always seem to default to 30 caliber. No particular reason. I understand the 25 may have an edge on BC. My local dealer has a 25 in stock but making sure I do this right the first time

I have a Hatsan Blitz and the accuracy is horrible, about 1meter/yard spread at 100meter/yards. I've seen many youtube videos and it seems it should be about 30cm/1foot spread at 100m/y.

I have no idea what's wrong with mine but I've been thinking about swapping barrels. I think buying a lothar walter barrel and installing it shouldn't be too hard but what about a FX barrel? FX uses a liner and housing system, how hard would it be to make it so you could install it on any other airgun?

Another thing I've been considering is buying smooth lothar walter barrels and then threaded sections with rifling inside it. This would basically create the smooth twist barrel where you could change 1 part to swap twist rate. Is this a good idea or would it not work because the engineering would have to be too precise for it to actually work?

Does anyone know how long the rifled section of the smooth twist is? 10cm/4inch? Shorter? Longer?

Just ordered .25 HP Ghost and have to camo it its what I do.....not sure what parts can be easily removed for shrink wrap paint or cerakote any examples would be greatly appreciated pics please

Despite the cancellation of the Boerne Field Target Club’s match(es) due to an uncooperative mother nature, I managed to squirrel out with the folks at Tenacious who still found some perfect Texas shootin’ weather to fine tune some air rifles and practice for AZ next weekend.
Following the ruleset of TexTreme’s benchrest silhouette comps, but on paper, Derrick and Gail held an impromptu match, a classic matchup of both shooters and rifles. Derrick Wall with his Delta Wolf and Gail’s FX Crown, both tuned by Tenacious. Too good a capture not to share early.
Below is some pre-release footage and pics. Just an FYI, Gail shot a perfect score during one of the rounds! Both shooters scored 33 and opted to shoot for a quarter sized circle at 92yds as a shoot-off. 33gr jsb’s mk2’s at 900 fps in both Derricks DeltaWolf and Gail’s FX Crown. Winds were crazy, shifty, swirling at times. Both missed their first attempts, putting on some pressure. Heck of a practice session for next weekend, should be some great competition! Best of luck Derrick!

Hi everyone;

Those who frequent this section of the site are mostly aware that I've been working on design and implementation of a CF (carbon fiber) and PETG 3d printed moderator for about a year now.

The design is complete. The testers are happy. The device works and has been tested to about 80 foot pounds. It is a good moderator. It functions as a suppressor and as an air stripper and testers are reporting better accuracy with the device installed than without. It could be quieter but that would add cost and or degrade accuracy. It is a good compromise that stands on it's own beside the best names in the business.

It is available in .17, .20, .22, and .25 calibers and lengths between 110mm and 170mm. It is 30mm in diameter. The moderator features a helicoil insert in the plastic attachment. Getting that helicoil to be concentric in and parallel to the axis of the attachment and then getting attachment to do the same in the tube required the design of a number of (also printed) tools. I can now say that I can confidently build devices which do not clip when mounted on a barrel whose threading and bore are concentric and parallel even in runs as long as 170mm, possibly more. I can do that without additional machine shop tools. All the tools are also printed except the taps used and the metal parts of any jigs needed. The design and the process lend themselves to lost plastic casting. The tube could easily be replaced by a metal tube and a much more robust device then produced and costs could still be kept very, very low. That is a topic for a different forum as that product would certainly be NFA regulated. In other words the process itself is material agnostic and the device can be built with hand tools.

I have worked out the costs for all parts and materials (using FDM and plastics) and can build these moderators at costs which will allow me to sell them in quantity for prices between $45.00 and $60.00 shipped anywhere in CONUS. At that price I double my costs. That goes to labor and covers about 2 hours of labor per unit, possibly slightly less. A guy running two printers could produce enough parts for about three moderators per eight hour shift which he could also assemble. One person could easily run six printers in a production environment and produce perhaps ten units per man day.

I have no intention of doing that. I'll make a few now and then and sell them when my time permits. I have run afoul of Ebay (someone has complained (AKA shot himself in the foot)) and they have decided that airgun moderators violate their firearms policy They don't. You can find all sorts of airguns and airgun accessories including silencers and moderators with a simple search but once someone complains, good luck ever talking to a human without sending them a certified, notarized, registered letter ... in process.

I just rescued this poor thing for $25, and a 45 minute drive each way to get it. It looked better in the one crappy pic,,,lol. It was at an estate sale. Today was the last day and they were having 75% off. Thank God. All though it's in poor mechanical condition it looks good enough I wasn't going home empty handed,,,lol.

I think it might have been pieced together. The receiver screws were all loose, the stock was about to fall off, the bolt has no tension, the square loading button is all jerked off, and the the bb chamber button won't budge. Other than that it's in decent shape,,,lol.

So it's all metal, has the screw on sights, the brass bolt, and heavy synthetic stock and forearm.

It was made in Fairport. Is has a 8 digit serial number on the bottom of the receiver, that doesn't fit the chart. It's # 04245425. It also has a 44 stamped on the right side receiver. I think this means warranty work?

It seems like it wants to pump up, but doesn't. After some pumps I get a little puff that just happens with out me doing anything besides pumping. And sometimes I can hear a little click, just from pumping.

So obviously this thing is hurt and needs to come apart. I've watched a video and think I can do it. What have I got to loose,,,lol.

Does this look like it's pieced together? What Has me stumped is on the forearm/barrel cap it has a 93 stamped in it. I think the gun is older than that? Maybe that part has been swapped out?

So what can you guys tell me about this one? Thanks.

New HW30s, maybe under 50 pellets. Had at least 5 times where the safety did not auto set on cocking and still shot the pellet when the trigger is pulled. Is that normal? We are being told that sometimes its necessary to give the barrel extra tug to get the safety to engage. [ thank you AN member comments: Appears holding style by the user allowed contact with the safety on cocking effort ]

I know a guy looking to get into PCP and makes shots of 100+ yards on prairie dogs. I have a sniper magnum xr and about 75 yards is end of the road for prairie dogs with it.

New member here from TN. Been a member of “another” forum for a lot of years but only recently realized what I was missing here. Currently looking at possibly acquiring a .22 to accurately shoot slugs around 200 yards. Been considering FX Maverick or possibly a RAW HM1000x. I currently have a HM1000x in .25 that shoots 25.4gr very well. Can usually shoot 5 shot groups at 70 yards that can be covered with a nickel. I was down at RAW this morning and talked to Martin about it a little bit. He told me to have a regular HM1000x shoot 27gr slugs accurately he would need to increase the velocity. Said it might be best to just have him build one that way instead of buying used and then having it modified. Anyway, what would you recommend? I have other short range options covered so this would be specific for longer range targets. Thx

I have another thread on the rifle but looking for some color ideas. The factory furniture is black painted wood but has almost a bed liner texture that I’m not really a fan of.

I was hoping under the paint was fancy walnut but just plain old hardwood.

So, any color ideas?

I have a question for those really in the know. Why would a gun use 4 times as much air at the beginning of a string than at the end? Is the reg not doing its job and allowing too much air past at the higher pressure ? I can’t make sense of this

Today was planned last Wednesday. Weather called for an end to the rain, clear skies and highs in the mid 50’s. Saturday was given over to going to the ranch and finishing the trailer re-deck. I did manage to sneak out yesterday and knock down a collared dove and 4 Starlings.

But today was my day, all day. I had planned a solo ground squirrel day. This morning I grabbed the M3, 22 slug shooter, The Crown MKII 25 slugger and the Maverick 25 Compact for pellets. Took them all out to the garage and was filling the bottles when the Nomad II did the expected and took a crap on me. Got the Crown and M3 filled but had to resort to my depleted tank to finish The Compact.

Weather failed me. Overcast with a light breeze and at 9:30 it was 36 degrees. Dang! Oh well, stay home and Mrs. Chukar will have chores for me. Head out and go shoot. Cursed the Nomad all the way there and the gods of the hunt smiled on me. Sun came out and it started to warm.
Had to drive back in further than usual because the motocross boys are out in full force today. No big deal. I wanted peace and quiet.

I found a draw that offered some longer shots at small clusters of mounds. The whistle pigs are being introverted and few showing. I manage two at around 90 yards with the M3 and the little 23 grain Zans showed their nasty side. At 970 fps they expanded well and delivered very good terminal performance on these small rodents. These were the first two I have taken with the Zans.

Down the next little draw and quarters are tighter so I grab the Compact and load it up with some 25.39 JSB’s. Take one squirrel at 50 yards, then another at about 35 yards. Then all goes quiet. Time to put the sling on the compact and go for a walk. Always uphill because it makes spotting the little buggers easier against the light versus looking down into the dirt and weeds. Spot and stalk time. Spot a stander and creep, crawl or whatever gets you in range.

The ”cover” out here consists of grass, and this time of year it is all brown and about 6-8” tall. I managed to take 4 in short order before I got nervous about a truck full of air guns and gear sitting out of my sight. Head back to the truck and take stock of the day so far. Having a ball stalking and shooting. Despite the Nomad, weather and shortage of whistle pigs, I am a happy camper.

While I am debating calling it a day, I catch movement up the hill from the truck. Grab the Compact because it is loaded. Mr. Ground squirrel is at 70-75 yards with a cross wind left to right. This compact scope has very little in the way of holdover and windage aids. Find the squirrel, check the parallax and verify distance. Take the shot and he goes down stone dead.

Pee on the fire and call in the dogs. Time to go home and end on a high note.

Nine ground squirrels isn’t much of a score but it was a great day and I missed very few shots.
