Aluminum under pressure

IMy wife and I was setting in the kitchen when a diet soda exploded in the cabinet, it was very loud, The can was bent all out of shape like I shoot it with a hollow point .
Now I have had a Carbon Fiber 4500 psi tank fail on me and the Carbon bands just let go with tiny little leaks.
Leads me to think the metal tanks when they fail the metal fails, On the Carbon fiber tanks the carbon bands fail and just let go very slow,

I Have A Question For FX Impact M3 Owners

My question is this:
How much of a performance difference is there between a gun with a power block vs a gun without it?

I want a M3 and many nice guns without the block are coming up for sale. I am not a big long range slug shooter and currently have a MKII Impact so my thinking is if I am going to go with a M3 I should get the power block version.

Just thought I would get some factual opinions.

Thanks

Is the STOCK PANTHERA a Bit Underpowered?

Hey guys. I want to love this Pathera but I'm confused. I could not get it above 880 fps with 25.4gr ammo. That's a 4 on the Micro and 115bar on the reg. Turning the reg up does not increase the FPS. Turning it past 140 bar will begin to decrease FPS. No setting between 100 and 180 bar would get me over 700 fps without that micro wheel cranked to 3.5-4+.

My question: Does the Panthera require extra parts to achieve over 43 foot pond in .22 caliber? if so, what parts? A Tungsten hammer? anything else?

Has anyone achived power from this gun, "out of the box"? Is there some magic setting I skipped when I burned $20 worth of pellets? (not a fan of tuning).

350 Magnum

I was was curious about the Diana 350 magnum .22 cal. I’m on the fence.
He’s my problem. My buddy (mentor) tells me it will fall apart in no time. Lucky to get 500 rounds through.
Now I’ve got a few Diana’s. Their power increase is notable and this is what my buddy says is the problem.
I got the 460 and found it to have great accuracy as well. My huge problem on the 460 is again plastic especially the front sight.
I’m Super satisfied with my Weihrauchs, Air Arms and FWB’s. Like the variety.
What’s you opionion on the 350 Magnum premium?

RMAC 2023 and ELR

As of yet, I have not seen any other posts on the Magnum Slug Challenge at the 2023 RMAC match - so here goes. Last year, Dave Wilson got first place shooting my .257 barreled, highly customized Armada. He cleaned the course. So this year, they made the course tougher. This year, there was nothing under 140yds and there were multiple targets in the 250yd to 350yd range. The level of competitors has also gotten tougher over the last three years.

If you want to get right to the results, here is a link:
https://competitions.ultimateballistics.com/competitions/54/rankings

After my second place finish in 2021, and third place in 2022, I finally squeaked by with the win this year. Any of the top four competitors could have gotten the win. Second place and the two third places (tie) all missed just two shots each. All targets were steel silhouettes. Hit anywhere on the steel for a score, or get 0pts for a miss. 10pts for every close (267yds is “close”?) target hit and 15pts for every far target hit. I missed only one shot, but was SO lucky on a couple of the hits as I was probably within an inch of the edge.

Looking at the scores, I see that Martijn Bekema from the Netherlands missed two shots including one of the easier targets, the rectangle at 165yds. Something likely went wrong for him. It might have been a first lane cold bore shot, which can sometimes be problematic. Or it's easy to get off a turn on the turret if you don't keep track. In any case, if he had not missed that rectangle one time, he would have gotten the win. Martijn was shooting a nice looking sporter style rifle. He shot tethered which is allowed at RMAC. I did not recognize the rifle brand, but it may have been a custom or limited production. I seem to remember him saying that is was a .308 caliber shooting 127gr? projectiles in a 1:15? twist barrel.

Cameron Kerndt tied for third and I think he said that he had been off a turn of the turret on one far target. If he had hit that target even once, he would have tied for first place. Cameron was shooting a Texan .308, internally stock, with a regulated bottle attached to forend of the rifle. I believe that he was using 154gr slugs. Dusty powers had tied for third with two misses on a couple of far targets. He corrected and made the second shot each time, so it could have been just a slight doping error (wind, distance, elevation, etc.). I think Dusty was shooting an FX? .30 caliber?

Last year's EBR required a minimum of 200fpe, so I had switched out the .257 barrel and 72gr slugs for a 7mm barrel and 106gr slugs. That's what I shot at RMAC this year. RMAC only has a 140fpe requirement. Thinking that the targets would likely be all under 300yds, I had debated (with myself) about going back to the more accurate .257 barrel. I ended up staying with the 7mm barrel. I did not know until after arrival at the match that we would have targets considerably farther than 300yds. In retrospect, the 7mm was a good choice as the heavier, higher BC 7mm projectile, holds together better past 300yds.

The awards banquet included a raffle for some great prizes. I even got lucky there as I won a portable HPA compressor. I came home well compensated for my efforts.

JTS Dead Center pellets

I had a chance to pick up some demo JTS Airgun pellets at RMAC, and some tins of the .22 caliber in 25.4 grain and the .25 caliber in 33.9 grain, so equivalents of the JSB Monster RD and the JSB King Heavy.

I shot them this past weekend from my .22 Delta Wolf and my .25 Red Wolf in very windy conditions. I must say that performance was every bit as good as the JSB versions. These JTS pellets come in the smaller tins and are very clean and consistent in size and weight. They shot at the same speed as the JSB equivalents, and the BCs were also equivalent since the drop at 100 yards was the same.

I'll do more testing with these in calmer conditions so I can determine accuracy and precision better.... So far so good, give them a try if you have a chance to get a hold of some. So far, I've only seen the .22 cal. 18.1 and .25 cal. 25.4 for sale online...

Pending release from a government agency

I ordered an HW98 .22 from Krale. Been wanting one for a long time. It was supposed to arrive today until I discovered it’s being held up by customs somewhere and the estimated arrival date has been removed from the tracking system. Now all it says is: “Your package is pending release from a government agency.” Don’t know how long I’ll have to wait now and there’s absolutely nothing I can do.

Anyone else ever run into this issue ordering from Krale?

Weihrauch News

Looks like the fifth generation of the Weihrauch family has joined the company. Looks like he is sporting a HW35 Karbine. What a dream job!

How Well Do you Know Your Barrel(s)?

These three groups were shot yesterday during ideal conditions at 30 yards benched...using my Huntsman Regal .20 cal, I realized within a group or two that the barrel needed cleaning...two wet (MP5) one dry, quick 5 minute pull through job, and see the difference, my standard for accuracy at that range. If this Regal was a .177 or .22 I would polish the bore but being a .20 I will just clean as needed every couple hundred shots or so. My Bobcat is the same way every couple hundred pellets or so it will tap me on the shoulder and say "clean me" and that barrel has been polished...my .177 Huntsman doesn't care...it always shoots great...oldest and nonregulated best shooter, polished it years ago...my Veteran doesn't seem to care either clean or dirty also polished years ago, but all do their very
20230626_141856.jpg
best after cleaning...I can always tell after a few shots...I can only envy barrels that yield guilt edge accuracy (to my standard) with out ever being cleaned...not talking dime size groups at 25 or 30 but the pellet on pellet overlap...easy to tell the difference...(pictured example)...Clean barrels have always worked best for me.

What Are Your Top 3 Semi-Autos?

Semi-autos seem to be becoming more available on the market today. However some of these can be pretty pricey. So I thought we could get some board input as to what you consider to be the top 3 semi-autos, on the market today, and why. We can include those with the fun switch if it suits you, as they also incorporate the semi-auto feature. I look forward to hearing y'alls take on this. Thanks.

New "Fat Girl" Moderator

Donny FL has the Fat Boy moderator......So, I made the Fat Girl moderator for my MK 3......:)

I've had this idea for a moderator for a while now and yesterday I decided to go ahead and make it. I machined a sort of monocore with a baffle stack, and machined six K baffles for it. I finished it last night and shot it a few times out my shop door and all I'm going to say is that it works very well, I'm glad I went ahead and made it....It's 1 7/8" round and 6 1/4" long, the outer tube is carbon fiber and ends and the insides are machined aluminum. I'm going to shoot it on my woods range this morning....:)
