NOT airgun related but....VERY Important

The nut shell version, if you own Apple products there is a VERY important update for your Macs, kernel level flaws are fixed, also flaws in the iOS of iPads, iPhones and iWatches. More here.. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/202...ted-security-bugs/?comments=1&comments-page=1

My source was a very high level security guy that use to work for Apple, I guess is his friends still left there warned him about it.

At least they haven' broken Strelok Pro...yet.

I'm wondering if the fixes will protect against the FX Borg, I tend to doubt it.

Legality and / or responsibility?

Have a member who wishes to purchase an air rifle form me who resides in New Jersey. The airgun in question would violate legality in New Jersey. The member has expressed the desire to meet me in NY and buy from me direct so I would not have to ship it there. does this render me free of legal issues? The member is fairly new but seems to be building a good reputation. This is actually a rhetorical question, I've sort of already decided, but want forum input. Even if this person had a FAC or jersey's equivalent. They would still be breaking the law the moment they drove back over the bridge.

Best Weihrauch for a first time springer shooter?

Getting into air guns. Wanting a weihrauch preferably in 22. Uses would be mainly target shooting on the front porch. And some small game hunting. Squirrel, chipmunks, pest birds and maybe the occasional coon.

Which model will give me the most enjoyable shooting experience. Maybe the most forgiving in new pellet shooters hands.

The Titan Submarine Imploded Due To Micro-Cracks In The Carbon Fiber Hull - Has A Carbon Fiber Bottle Broken/Exploded On Anyone?

I heard on the news that the Titan Submarine that was exploring the Titanic was made of Carbon Fiber and they warned against using that material because micro cracks would be exacerbated by the frequent pressure changes, so the more the sub was used, the more potential for catastrophic failure. The pressure at 12,500 feet below sea level is about 370 to 380bar, so this is very much in the range that we are playing with.

This would lead one to believe that the CF bottle is a little like a balloon that gets weaker the more it is inflated, so if you have a very regular shooter that is filling many times a day, this would exacerbate this problem and there may be failure before the expiration date on the bottle.

What are your thoughts??

Traditional Rifle  SOLD HW30S .177 with Steve Corcoran Walnut Stock

Up for grabs is my last springer in the house.
I bought a new HW30S last year. Shortly afterwards, I lucked upon a gorgeous Steve Corcoran Claro Walnut stock. (These stocks are not easy to come by).
Factory HW stock has been sold.
Gun is like new; scope mounted, but never shot. Every few years, I read about how fantastic these are, and pick one up, but don't end up using it. Some day I'll learn. Some of Steve's pics of the stock are more orange in the light. His pics that are deep brown reflect the stock's true color. Scope is not included in sale.
I paid 550 for the stock, and 340 for the HW30S. That's 890 that I have into it.
$700 shipped, insured, signature req'd. PP f&f, others payments considered.
Check my years of feedback; it's all good.

Chicken coop defense

Hello all,

I will be building a chicken coop this summer, probably starting next month, and I would like to get a PCP that is adequate for predators up to coyotes. Shots would probably be inside 50 yards as the coop will not be more than that far from the house, and my shooting would be out of an upstairs window with an infrared scope. My nearest neighbor is about 1/4 mile away, but is a grumpy old man who has complained about people in the area shooting during daylight hours, and who thinks hunters are mean. I would want something fairly quiet to not bother him with any night time shooting.

A .25 shooting a heavy projectile with authority would be my first thought, as I already have a few moderators in .25 that should do the job. I am not looking for a premium airgun, although if I could find a Taipan Veteran Long in .25, I would be sorely tempted. A refurbished Seneca Eagle Claw might work well, or an Air Venturi Avenger with some of the inexpensive mods like a power plenum.

My second thought would be to get a big bore, as I know I will want to scratch that itch eventually. If I got a 45, something that could be turned down to shoot a lighter slug at lower energy, it certainly would do the job on anything trying to get into the coop. I could justify spending more on something in a big bore that I could take big game hunting. The Western Bush Buck/Pig looks interesting as it has the low power cocking option. The Airforce Texan also has some tunability, but not sure how much, to shoot with lower energy. I am guessing the noise will be much more substantial with one of these, even with a good mod.

Anyone have thoughts/experience on a higher FPE .25 for coyotes?
Anyone have experience using a .45 at lower FPE for racoons, foxes, and coyotes, and are they still pretty loud even at lower FPE and moderated?
Is there a strong case to be made for going to a 30 or 35, maybe a Gauntlet?

Have a good one,
-pg

FX Impact barrel cleaning. Which direction?

I have read most of the threads regarding cleaning the fx m3 barrel. However, I have yet to see anyone address what I feel is pretty important. Which direction is best? I tried my home made patch worm and fed from the breech end. As I inserted, I kept having a feeling that I might be poking some internal o-ring and doing damage. Then I thought I would push a cleaning pellet from the end of the barrel toward the breech. That had me thinking if there were any o-rings then I might be pushing them out. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

Impact M3 22cal question

Hello,
I am looking for info on this setup in pellet only. I am wanting to play with it for EFT and possible N50 and hunting. I just want to shoot pellets. What kind of energy can I get with a 600 or even 700 barrel? FX shows fpe but with slugs, I want what you guys are getting in the real world with pellets. Can I get 50fpe?

Thanks
Jon

I am now selling the new Evol-FX upgrade knob kit!!!

Now you can have it all with my patent pending, brand spanking-new, EVOL M3 FX’ed twisty, clicky knobs!! Guaranteed to be 33% more clicky than any other knobs on the market.

Do you sit at work all day dreaming of clicking knobs on your Impact? Of course you do. We all have. Now with the upgraded Evol equipped with remote knobs you can do just that!! Simply leave the Evol at home and slip a couple of the remote knobs into your pocket. Make every needed adjustment you can dream of throughout the work day and when you get home your Evol is still shooting great!
Sold in sets of two, but I will give discounts for multiple sets if you contact me with your personal twisting-clicking needs.

Do most vendors charge sales tax on shipping?

I just placed an order at Pyramyd Air and was surprised to see that they charged (collected) tax on the shipping costs. I can’t remember the last time I placed an order at Pyramyd that I didn’t buy enough stuff to get free shipping, but that was the case today. Sales tax in my zip code is 7%; I bought $101.94 in goods and services and there was $13.33 in shipping charges. They charged (collected) $8.07 in sales tax which is 7% of $115.27… the full amount of my ordered items and shipping. It’s not a big deal but it did come as a surprise.

edit for accuracy.

Tuning  FX wildcat mk3 bt softer valve spring to increase power?

Hi,

I watch Matt Dubber's YouTube video about tuning for high power airgun.

He mentioned that he uses a weak valve spring in his 22 cal Impact Mk2 with very high reg pressure to achieve 70 fpe with 34 gr slug.

I wonder if we can use that same concept on our guns. In my case, changing the valve spring to a weaker spring, hoping that the valve will close faster on lower rear reg pressure and less hammer for my 22 cal wildcat mk3 bt to shoot 27 gr HP slug at 1000ish fps.

The current settings are 160 bar rear reg pressure and 12 gram hammer which makes the gun quite violent.

I'm hoping to use the 11 gram with weaker preload and lower the rear reg pressure, while having the weak valve spring to close the faster to get higher speed.

What do you guys think? Workable?
