SA Tank Bag

I received my new Scandinavian Arms (SA) tank bag today and boy is it sweet! The build quality and materials are top notch. Fits my Omega 74 cu. ft. (6.8L) tank perfectly. You can use it in both the upright or flat postions. It stands upright like a champ due to the reinforced bottom sleeve. The bottom side has rubber feet to prevent rolling. Well padded, well engineered. and great accessories pockets. The two side pockets are removable and even have elastic sleeves inside to hold pellet tins. Heavy duty carrying strap and handle with padding.

This is everything I wanted in a tank bag at a great price. Best tank bag out there by far, IMO.

Crosman  Steel Breech installation

I made a mess of the hammer screw on my Crosman 1322 while installing a steel breach. Despite multiple warnings about stripping the Phillips screw. I ended up having to grind the screw head off.

Surprisingly I did not have to drill out (easy-out) the whole screw. Once the head fell off, the remaining screw shaft unscrewed easily by hand. The old screw head revealed why - the screw was lock-tighted with blue lock-tight compound, but only under the screw head. There was no lock-tight in the screw hole.

Now that I have my new 2240 I want to avoid the screw removal problem. I think that this requires more than just using the correct size screwdriver. Can someone help me out with suggestions?

I have the crazy idea of using a cigarette lighter to pre-heat the screw before trying to remove it.

Toughest Springer Scope, Bar None

We like a lot of things in a scope. Optical quality like clarity and brightness, broad and high power ranges, great side focus, audible and tactile clicks in the turret knobs, great tracking, fancy reticles, and more. But if we forget all of that and concentrate on only one thing, that being ability to stand up to repeated heavy spring piston recoil, what would you say is the toughest scope out there?

Shooter's error?

I got out my .217 NSA slugs to test again. There's was almost no wind and I got a group like this. I'm curious if those smaller clusters show that there's potential and I'm not having a consistent hold, or if it's just because the slugs are the wrong size for my avenger. This is at 50 yards

First Blood With EVOL .30

Got up this morning and let the dog out while having coffee and had a flock of crows surrounding my house. My home is bordered on t2 side by the woods 10 yards away. I grabbed my new (to me) EVOL and belly crawled around between the house and garage and waited for a shot to present itself. Didn’t need to wait long….65 yards, 44 grn Hades and it dropped without a sound but still needed a finisher, tough birds….

Anyone ever shot scorpions?

After years of never seeing one anywhere in this state, my husband and I found three this summer. Two small bark scorpions (the worst kind), and one big desert hairy scorpion. One of the bark scorpions was INdoors.

The bark scorpions are hard to see; the hairy scorpion is bigger, with a large black/dark midsection. I hope these three are the only ones we encounter, but...it made me wonder about shooting one. I assume a .177 will be plenty enough to kill it, at any distance close enough that I’d actually notice one.

Have you ever pelletized a scorpion? I consider this equivalent to killing dangerous insects in or near the home—no legal restrictions apply.

Where to buy quality pellets in SOCAL.

Does anyone know of any places that sell quality pellets in southern Cal ( Ventura county, the valley, and LA)?

I've visited about every sport store in my area, but most of them only carry Gammo, Benjamin, and H&N. I'll been to Joe Brancato's place, which is great BTW, but that's about a 2.5hr drive for me. Looking for JSBs within a reasonable distance if anyone happens to know a place.

Thanks

FX  Which FX

I'm looking to purchase my first PCP rifle. I want a .25, and I've narrowed it down to an FX Impact M3, or a used FX Maverick or a used FX Impact MK2. Both the Maverick and the MK2 come with scopes and a few accessories and are in the $1500-1600 range. The M3 would be bare, and in the $2000ish range.

99% of my shooting will be at birds, squirrels, rabbits with the occasional rock chuck or racoon. I probably wouldn't stretch it much beyond 100 yards and really intend on just sticking with pellets.

Is the M3 that much better that it's worth spending the extra money? Or am I better going used with the MK2/Maverick and getting a few accessories?

Thanks.

HW/Weihrauch  HW 35e 11mm to Picatinny solution from Warne

I ordered this Warne rail a while back for another project & that one needs a 3/8" solution from measuring so I used this Warne CZ rail for my 35e. Angles seemed correct & went at it as this is a 1 piece rail & you have to tap it on as tight fit. I used small oak block & soft blow. small ball peen woulda even worked better with the block. It's not a forced issue as it moves forward each small tap. I don't like to be pigeon holed with rings so I like to adapt to 1913 if possible. I dought mount will move. There made from 7075 t-6 & nicely machined without sharp edges. Just thought to show another 11mm solution. Warne also has another 11 CZ rail thats slightly differant that would work also.

Diana  RWS trigger

I have a problem with my RWS 34 trigger! It pulls from 1 1/2 to 2 3/4 and I never know which will show up. It pulls straight threw the first stage with no noticeable stop. It has a date on it of 02/02,.177,plastic trigger and plastic safety lever and the trigger guard has one hole in it. I"ve seen that there is three different triggers on these rifles.

FX  Crown MkII Superlite Barrel Liner/Shroud Spacers

With the well documented problem of the Crown MkII Superlite barrel wagonwheel liner/shroud spacers being pushed back towards the breech when firing the Crown MkII there have been many solutions offered here to hold the spacers in place. And I saw a solution using a carbon fiber liner sleeve holding one wagonwheel spacer nearest the muzzle, but not using the other two wagonwheel spacers. With that said, here is my question...

Could you buy an FX carbon fiber liner sleeve and cut it into 3 sections, with each section being the correct length to keep its corresponding spacer from moving towards the breech?

For instance, it would be a configuration like this for the 700mm Superlite barrel...

carbon fiber liner sleeve/spacer/carbon fiber liner sleeve/spacer/carbon fiber liner sleeve/spacer

Still trying to sort out how I'm going to manage the wagonwheel spacers before I spring for a Crown MkII Continuum. You would lose the stiffening properties of the carbon fiber liner sleeve, but wouldn't it do the job of holding the wagonwheel spacers in place? Would there be a downside I'm not thinking of?

Thanks!
