Like new Notos in box w/papers + tin of premier 14.3 with appx 50 pellets shot. Great little gun. Accurate with these pellets.

So I decided I needed to be intimate with the workings of a pcp. After a few years I’m the sport, I’ve never had the balls to completely tear down, or modify beyond accessories any gun I’ve owned. Well that changed today. I’ve been unhappy with the notos I picked up and decided, with what they cost, why not tear it apart, and put some sweat equity into it to make it better.
Today was tear down day, as well as cutting off the factory moderator.



The crown doesn’t look terrible, but it is a little rough. I’m thinking between polishing up some happier and trigger parts, installing a mod adapter, swapping some orings that look questionable, and polishing the barrel and crown, I think this thing will turn into a decent shooter.

With that, I need some advice on polishing both barrel and crown. I’ve never done it before, and would like some advice moving forward.

Having for some months heard rumblings (from a semi-reliable source ) about possible considerations from one of the top FT rifle manufacturers to produce a new field target pistol, I knew better than hold my breath that it would (ever) become reality. IT'S REALITY!

As the founder of Pistol Field Target, Extreme Pistol Field Target, and (possibly) Magnum Air Pistol Field Target (MapFT), suffice to say "I have friends in high places". That being the case, I am able to now announce my undercover agent at Rapid Air Works just sent this photo of the prototype of their new FT/PFT/MapFT PISTOL! Matter of fact Jeff... I mean the deep-cover agent imbedded at RAW, texted the photo live from the Pyramid Air Cup; where RAW's new pistol is being unveiled to the public for the first time. WHOA!

Of course a phone conversation immediately ensued; whereupon I was able to extract some details. Naturally, I also provided some feedback and suggestions that apparently went right to the source; that being the owner of Rapid Air Works/Air Force Airguns who was over-hearing my conversations with J.C. ... I mean, Deep Cover Agent 007.

Somebody pinch me; I think I'm dreaming!

Some details, and my suggestions- 1) As I suggested when I first saw the RAW Micro Hunter, the pistol naturally evolved from that evolution of their rifles. 2) It falls within all AAFTA, EFT and MapFT dimension parameters. 3) Will be available in .177 and .22 calibers; possibly also in .20 and .25. 4) If so, that covers everything from AAFTA PFT, to Extreme PFT, to (as now conceived but not yet birthed) MapFT. Suffice to say the platform should be capable of the 30 foot pound MapFT power limit in .22 & .25 calibers. 4) Yes, the grip is as comfortable as it looks (and is SEXY!). 5) The bottle is an alloy, 210cc, 200 BAR bottle. I suggested also offering a carbon-fiber 300 BAR bottle. 6) Per all Pistol FT rules, the barrel is within the 15" limit. I suggested also offering the 8.?" Micro Hunter barrel for a more compact hunting pistol; think a .25 caliber, 30(+) foot pound air pistol! 7) Target price is under $2,000; perhaps much closer to $1.5K. 8) Although in my excitement I neglected to mention the obvious possibilities of modular design enabling easy caliber and configuration changes on a single platform, the RAW is a perfect platform for that. 9) This new pistol should appeal to any Pistol FT shooter, as well as many air pistol shooters not into FT. 10) It also expands air pistol hunting horizons.

From my perspective, for several reasons. A) Another great offering in a market segment pretty lean of offerings. B) A less expensive alternative to the very best field target pistol on Earth. C) A next-level FT and hunting air pistol. D) A production MapFT gun. E) Hence, removing a substantial obstacle to MapFT moving from conception to reality.

Feeding the the FX Wildcat mk3 with JSB Exact Monster.177 (13.43gr) is a pleasure. Smacking cans at 100m, is no problem of course.

So i have ben having a couple of really nice days at the range, even if there was levels of wind worth mentioning.
Still my slug addition was put on hold for most of the time and i dispensed about 600 pellets spread over beasts - JSB heavy - Air arms heavy - and H&N Barracudas of the plain flavor.

And all of them flew very nice indeed out of my 700 mm heavy liner, and even more so when i found out that above 950 FPS using 90 BAR regulated pressure i just can not get my regulator to give me flat shot strings.
But below that pressure and my shot strings are even more flat than the topography of Denmark are.

So for all the pellets, even the 16 grain beasts and also later on 13 Zan slugs, well my regulator pressure was very low.
Actually the pressure was as low as the FX regulator would allow me to do, so in my case that's about 40 - 50 BAR. At leas 1/4 more turn and the regulator would not regulate but just be a valve shutting off air completely.
Hammer spring wheel was at #1 ( factory .177 hammer weight and spring )

And that is plenty to push a 10-11 grain pellet to speeds upwards of 900 FPS, and as you can see in the pictures also give a very OK shot string and accuracy ( 10 shot groups )



It was no problem shooting much longer strings, the Spread & STD Dev would remain like that, something i just can not attain or even get near with higher reg pressures ( bout 100 BAR )



Best 10 shot group of the day using pellets. ( just 25 M distance ) i would love to do this at 50 M, but that is not happening with the way the Maverick perform, CUZ pancake flat shot strings, and even a variety of speeds and i still have to click around as the POI more or less constantly change, also more than i feel i can blame on the wind.
You really see that shooting 80 M on a dead calm day, and it annoy the hell out of me.



I wonder what shot count that low pressure would give with the 500 CC bottle i have on the rifle ( 90 BAR being what it was set to from the factory )

I kinda like this economy ( air pressure ) shooting , i for sure do not need 90 / 100 BAR to shoot my 13 grain slugs at their best speeds which is from ´950 FPS and a little past 1000 FPS.

PS. I even shot some 82 M with the JSB Heavys, but due to the wind only about 1 of 3 shots landed on the 2" shoot N see marker, with the rest all over around the marker but spread out to where i would have needed a 6 or 8" shoot N see target to keep them all on that, or at least damn near all of them.

If you wonder what the advantage is with a long barrel, well i assume this is it.

I want to get into BR but cannot afford the rifles I see recommended so I hope to just do the best I can. I see many threads asking for a cheap rifle recommendation but the answers I see are a little confusing to me so I am going to list a few that seem to be accurate rifles, out of the box, for under $700. So far I have decided that for a cheap rifle the following give me the best chance of getting an accurate rifle:

Benjamin Maurader
Crossman Challenger
Umarex Gauntlet

Actually, I only saw one article on -line about a guy who placed well in long range BR with a Gauntlet.

To give an idea on my idea of reasonable accuracy for a low price, I currently have an HW35 and an AA 200T. Both are accurate enough for me for this price range. Problem is I want to keep my 200T equipped with the target peep sights it came with and not keep changing back and forth from that to a scope. I have thought of just getting a second one but they are discontinued and I do not want to gamble on a used one. Problem with the HW35 is that it is a springer and I do not enjoy shooting a springer from the bench, though I know others are capable of doing well with them.

So, which of the 3 listed rifles would you recommend, or is there another I have not identified?

Doubtless the best accuracy on my two rifles is achieved with H&N Baracuda pellets.

Both rifles with those pellets are reliable for hunting purposes.

No JSB pellet nor NSA slug that I have tried with them matches the performance at long distance of the Baracuda.

Been seeing birds at this place for years. Finally decided to drop in and ask FOR Permission. Went in and talked with girl up front and she asked if I had a card. I handed her my card and started my spill, then plant manager came thru door. A “good ole boy” as we say. We hit it off right away and he said week ends are best and have at it. Could not be more excited.

Have no idea why i did not think of this fix years ago !!! With so many modern optics / scopes have FAST FOCUS eye pieces ( Ocular Adjustment ) and few having lock collars,
my fiddling resulted in this revelation Once you find & adjust the ocular focus there is nothing to hold the rotational position ( Unless lock collar equipped ) #1 issue.
With also realizing if you look threw scope and wiggle around the eye piece w/o rotation the RETICLE MOVES !!!! Holly poope not good !!! and found this to be universal across nearly all my Fast Focus ocular scopes #2 issue


My cure was simple enough, tho took fabrication having each & every scope retrofitted specific to there required O.D. / O.D. / Width for a custom lock collar.

Scope is ocular focused to your eye as we all generally do getting a sharp reticle. That's it .. but is it ? Bumps & handling etc and the retical position moves around ( test it as stated above ) Once set MEASURE the gap present, O.D. of ocular tube & O.D. of eye piece as it comes outward.

Make the collar from acetal etc ... & slit saw it.
Back off ocular bell a bit, expand & snap in collar, screw bell back down lightly snug.

Your adjustment is now FIXED to your eye. Which is Super important if an FT shooter using parallax for ranging !!! Bumps and handling won't shift retical and all is now rigid and centered. Check your zero and never fret it again until such time as your eyes age and focus is no longer correct.

Despite EXTREME temperatures and usual brutal winds at Ranchito Robinson, I finally got around to exploring the maximum distances being considered for the new sport of MAGNUM Air Pistol Field Target (MapFT). Torn between a maximum target distance of 75 or 80 yards (yes, with air pistol), I've now explored those distances enough to gain greater insight(s). As Uncle Josh, aka- Master Of Exaggeration And Understatement would say, either was "a pretty far piece over yonder".

Understand you're looking at large extreme field targets that are also heavy enough to be totally rimfire capable. Besides the thrill of knocking those heavy mothers down to 80 yards with a pellet pistol, I sought greater insights into whether to dictate a 16X maximum scope magnification (setting) limit, or allow more magnification in deference to the extreme (pistol) distances. So as any self-respecting Extremist would, I decided to take this deep-dive into air pistol EXTREMES (by any measure) at 16X on my Weaver V-24 rifle scope. Trust me, that 3" triangular kill zone looks plenty small enough at 70 yards and 16X; the 4" KZ at 80 yards not (quite) so much. Perhaps the reason I decided to explore these limits when I did was an inexplicable feeling of Zen-like calm and confidence.

And the recent relentless heat abates slightly about the same time as do the usual brutal winds. Uncle Josh calls that 45 to 60 minute window of opportunity the Happy Hunting Hour; most folks call it dusk or sunset.

As any self-respecting fool would do, armed with two mags (totaling 20 shots) for my RonCo BroCo Gen 2 Convertible, I decided on ten-shot groups at each target! Apparently aforementioned Zen-like feeling of confidence was not delusion (this time), as I cleaned both those suckers on my first attempt!



Yes, that edge-hit did knock that huge field target down, despite roughly half the pellet diameter catching the face-plate. It sure would be interesting to know how much of the 18.1 grain pellets roughly 19 foot-pounds of remaining energy at 70 yards impacted the paddle. Regardless, I have no doubt whatsoever that had the edge-hit been anywhere but the top of the paddle the target wouldn't have fallen. Apparently "God watches over fools and idiots."

The ten-shot group on the 70 yard bear measured 2" center-to-center, and that on the 80 yard elk measured 2.5". So intoxicated on my success (LUCK) like a drunken sailor in port, with equal abandon and as any self-respecting fool would do, I 'thought', "wonder if I can kick that bear's ass AT 80 YARDS".

Yes, I know; 'Extremist' is a relative word. 'FOOL', not so much!

With shooting light fading fast, I mustered all the Zen-like confidence AND egomaniacal abandon of a drunken sailor in Boystown, and went to work on that 3" KZ bear at 80 yards as only Uncle Josh could (before ME, that is). AND CLEANED THAT SUCKER TOO!

And with nary an edge-hit. That group measured 2.1" c-t-c.

An interesting exercise to say the least, perhaps a better term would be 'enlightening'. But enough so to decide on 75 or 80 yards as the maximum range for MAGNUM Air Pistol Field Target competition? Still intoxicated on that most-memorable display of super-human pistol shooting skills (pure, BLIND LUCK), I "think" I'll wait till sobering up before deciding on 75 or 80 yards as the MapFT maximum distance.

I'm a new player who has recently started with PCP airguns. I've recently spent a significant amount of money buying four PCP airguns: an LCS-SK19 in .25 caliber, two Leshiy 2 airguns – one in .35 caliber with a 450mm barrel, and the other in .22 caliber with a 350mm barrel. I've also purchased additional 395mm liner in .30 caliber and a 600mm liner in .25 caliber. The final one is the FX Dynamic Express 700 in .25 caliber. I really enjoy the Dynamic and Leshiy2. The first one I bought, the LCS-SK19, is now somewhat neglected because its full auto feature seems to be more for entertainment. There's no denying that the LCS sk19 is a great gun; it's just that aftermarket accessories are quite scarce. Now, I'm also considering getting an FX M3. I've noticed that the M3 looks really cool after modification. Should I keep the SK19? Could any of the experts offer some advice? Thank you!

Rainy today, so decided to shoot in basement. 7 yds and 5 shot groups with the Atomic in pistol form - 22 cal. Keep in mind that MOA is .07” at this distance.

I mounted a new Sightron scope on my new Impact M3 tonight. After about a hundred shots the point of impact suddenly dropped 7 mildots and shifted left and right each time I fired. My elevation turret was maxed all the way up. I checked the rings and everything was correctly mounted and tightly fastened. Everything looked right with the scope and I began to think that the erector tube must be free of the turrets. In other words; broken beyond repair. I was upset to say the least and ran through some choice vocabulary before a friend calmed me down over the phone. I shot the gun more and noticed that the elevation remained fairly constant at about 7 mildots down, but windage p.o.i. was hitting randomly right and left. What would do that? Loose barrel? As I went to check the barrel, I noticed the air stripper on the end of the barrel was angled down slightly. It was loose and you guesses it, that was the culprit. I screwed it back on, re-zeroed the scope, and presto, all fixed, my temper included. Any of you have a similar dumb airgun problem story to share?

Surprisingly it was not the case with Impact mk1 and mk2 but three M3 have come to me with bottle threads stripped.

When some incident happens three times with three users in a country like mine, it makes me think about the reason.

I understand that it's the first time in M3 when the bottle threads perhaps made out of mild steal are screwed on the stainless steel part of 1st regulator.

I understand that upto mk2 both the threads, male female were made of mild steel. In those models this incidence was very rare.

I feel that stainless steel is a hard metal. When the bottle is tightened on the front stainless steel part of 1st regulator, the nature of combination of these two metals doesn't suit each other.

It's just like some metals get seized with certain metals while with the similar clearance other metals don't get seized.

I don't know whether anyone else in the world has faced this issue with M3 or not.

If there are more such cases, FX should change the combination of both metals being used in male and female threads.



As the regulator body is perhaps made of stainless steel, in all cases that came to me, the threads of regulator part are good but the threads inside the bottle are ruined to the extent that the gun has become very dangerous.

Please users keep an eye on this issue and play safe.

I'm curious what everyone feels is acceptable group size for shooting 50 yards offhand? I usually shoot off a bench so give me a break .

I've just started practicing offhand at 50 yards and my 1st go was laughable. This was my 1st attempt with the uragan 2 compact 22. At least it leaves lots of room for improvement i painted a black spot to aim at then decided i didnt need it for the other groups.

Then I started aiming high on the target and dropping into the kill zone as I squeezed the trigger. This improved my group considerably but still not great. This group was from the taipan vet standard 25. Mag only had 5 rounds in it

This group was my attempt at redemption with the uragan 2 compact 22. Much better but still not real good


I'll be practicing more each day to see how much I can improve. My goal is to be able to consistently hold 3 inch 5-10 shot groups at 50 by the end of October. Not sure I'll reach that goal but I'll try.

Feel free to post your 50 yard offhand groups or just let me know what you consider acceptable by your own standards for 50 yards. I'm not talking cherry picked groups either. What's your average out of 10 groups of 5+ shots per group?

Also if you have anything that helped you with offhand shooting feel free to post up the info. Never know what I might be missing or doing wrong. I try my best at having good trigger control but I'm figuring out the rest as I go.

A couple of months ago I started exploring airguns. I was thinking of a neighborhood friendly gun that I can shoot off my back deck and enjoy putting holes in paper. I read about pump up, CO2, PCP and springers. Long story short, I decided on a springer. Ultimately I decided the HW 30 in .177 was for me. Problem was, I couldn’t find one for sale. Next on list was HW 50. None for sale. The 35e intrigued me with its walnut stock and long heritage. Also, I love nicely figured woods on musical instruments, furniture, etc. I ask the guys at AoA to pick out a nice one for me. Boy, did they deliver. It has a distinctive ‘flame’ pattern the full length of the stock on both sides kind of like tiger stripes. I realize it’s a completely different gun from the 30 and 50. I’ve had it about 3 days now and am in the break in period. Really enjoying it.
I am going to have many questions for you folks on this forum. Which scope, rings, how to deal with barrel droop, etc. (yes, I know how to use the search button but I like to hear from you experts).
