Niksan  Escalade Aluminum Bottles

I was looking at my Escalade bottles and I noticed that the rear bottle has a working pressure of 200 bar. I cant see the rating on the front bottle, same size as rear, and they have loctite on the threads so no turning it. The gun is rated for 250 bar.

So I sent a support ticket to DonnyFL. The response was bizarre. They claim the bottles were mislabeled by the manufacturer. The bizarre part is that the bottles were not recalled and scrapped but actually used.

I'm not worried about a bottle tested to 300bar blowing at 250 bar. But how do they justify using "mislabeled" bottles?

I actually doubt they are mislabeled.

Ignoring the serious liability issue, DonnyFL knows about the markings and regardless whether or not it is mislabeled the consumer (me) should have been notified.

Anyone ever hear of mislabeled air bottles before?

Pyramyd pellet shipment using Amazon transportation.

I got a shipment of H&N slugs today from Pyramyd with Amazon as the shipper. It was the cheapest shipping option so I gave it a try. The slugs were packed the normal Pyramyd way with foam squares and double boxed and are pristine. I think the issue I've had with ordering pellets from Amazon is the packing. A bag made with bubble material is not enough protection. With the big foam squares Amazon did not seem to hurt the slugs.

Shipping? I can’t find a way to get my air gun to Spain!

Hi, I’m moving to Spain and want to take my airgun with me. Sub 12ft/lbs. Airlines charge a fortune and I can’t find any couriers that will accept it. How can I get it shipped to Spain for a normal cost. If I pay 100£ and above I might aswell sell it as it only cost 180.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Arca Rail to Picatinny Bipod

Received my new Skout Epoch last week and added the Arca rail. All of my bipods mount to picatinny. What do I attach to the Arca to accept the picatinny? I found only 1 solution on Amazon for $45. Don't want to spend big $$ to do this.

Also why the industry switch to Arca if they don't offer solutions for many guys like me.

Amazon product is pictured

RTI  ❓ Recommendations for a Low Power .30cal Gun?

❓ Recommendations for a Low Power .30cal Gun?

😵‍💫 Dozing during a dark drizzly night my mind concocted a semi-crazy idea.
😊 And before I mess up my carefully tuned guns, I thought I'd better ask the collective wisdom at AGN.
I am prepared to take a certain amount of scorn and ridicule for my idea. 👍🏼

If you ever shot quarry with a .30cal slow pellet — say at 500fps:
● How would you describe the hit (especially on a pigeon)?

● Any comments/ recommendations?

My Imagined Scenario:
▪ I'd like to shoot pigeons at 10 to 60y — and scopecam the hits.

▪ I'd like to have a muzzle velocity of around 500fps with either Polymag (44.75gr) or JSB Heavy (50.15gr) — unless you recommend something else!

▪ I'd like the shot noise at the gun very very quiet (with silencer).
(And the impact noise nice and loud.)

Your recommendation —
What gun — and why?

▪ Option (A): RTI Prophet 1 — regular valve

▪ Option (B): RTI Prophet 2 — balanced valve

▪ My barrel is an RTI LW barrel in .30, length 600mm (=regular size), with the large double-transfer ports.

➠ Thanks for any input you might have for me. 👍🏼

Cheers, 😃

PCP Rifle  SOLD Skout Evo

I bought a very nice Evo here a few months back in .25 with 35” barrel and lots of extras. The 25 shoots 25.39 very accurate. Crazy accurate. I have 8 boxes of skout slugs it shoots good. I don’t like 25 so I ordered from skout a 25” .22 barrel 15.75 twist and cal change kit. I got the 22 to shoot 40 gr atp and it’s crazy accurate with them up to 950 fps. It’s just to big for me to hunt with. It comes with all these extras , and a bunch of parts for an epoch that the seller sent with it, a donnyfl mod adapter,a .30 sumo 800 .25 slugs. Gun is as new no issues. $1900 shipped.

HW/Weihrauch  I should have played the lottery today.

While sitting on the porch swing with my wife after dinner the wind died to dead calm. I decided to push my luck and grabbed the R1, sat down at my improved table and shot these groups. One is fantastic and most of the rest are pretty darn good. Especially considering its making 20+ FPE with left over parts.

Again the whole page. No cherry picking. It's been a great day here in beautiful Arkansas.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Fx Wildcat MkIII Synthetic Sniper Bt .30 cal DISCOUNTED INVENTORY! 1399$

ITEM IS IN NEW AND UNUSED CONDITION

Precision Sport Airguns

Introducing the new and vastly improved FX Wildcat MkIII BT! The iconic airgun bullpup, the FX Wildcat, now comes with power and air capacity to handle slugs and heavier pellets in all their various shapes and sizes. The form and function of this epic airgun has made it the favorite off-hand hunting PCP the last 7 years. The enhanced power comes courtesy of the massive 89cc Power Plenum, nestled in the stock of

the Wildcat. This large plenum really caters towards slug and heavy pellets. Effectively extending both the muzzle energy and thus the range in which you can use this new and powerful Wildcat.
(Those preferring classic sized pellets are better served by the standard Wildcat MKIII). Taming this massive power center and refining accuracy, is accomplished using dual FX AMP Regulators. The first AMP regulator is placed just after the carbon fiber bottle (aluminum bottle on the lower priced VP version) to reduce the initial pressure in preparation for the second regulator.

This provides less stress as well as allowing the use of 300 BAR bottles. The second AMP regulator allows the precise amount of air needed for consistency with each shot. Combined with the world’s most competition winning barrel system (the FX Smooth Twist X Barrel System), this ensures you have the most accurate rifle possible in your hands!

Complete adjustability is in your hands with the Wildcat MkIII BT! Both regulators are externally adjustable, and the rear power adjuster makes dialing in the right power easy to adjust for shifting hunting situations. A shooter can shift from the higher speeds needed for a long outdoor shot to dialing down the power for a shot taken in a barn or for target practice in the backyard. This rear power adjuster also allows quick micro and macro adjustments to fine tune the desired speed for the projectile you are shooting. The FX Wildcat MkIII BT comes in three configurations: The Compact with a 300cc carbon fiber bottle and 500mm barrel, The Sniper with a 580cc carbon fiber bottle and 700mm barrel, and the value priced VP with a 400cc aluminum bottle and 600mm barrel. Additional barrel kits in calibers .177 thru .30 are sold separately and are easily interchangeable.

FX Wildcat owners also have the option of using the FX Wildcat Slug Power Kit (sold separately) that allows for even more power and velocities to tailor to heavier projectiles. The original iconic Wildcat completely changed the airgun world, offering the perfect offhand shooting air rifle. The Wildcat MkIII BT perfectly matches the advances to slugs and heavier pellets the modern shooter desires, ushering in a new generation to the brilliance of the FX Wildcat.

Other  Which Bullpup style .177

So, I've decided I need a short, accurate .177 to play with at 25+yd and I have a few on my short list. They are: Snowpeak T-Rex($246), Snowpeak P35($443), Brocock Compatto XR non-regulated and regulated($779 & $899), and finally the Brocock XR Sahara($1299). I wont lie that cost/value mean a lot, but accuracy has to be there. Anyone with firsthand experience? What pellet worked well for what airgun. Need some insight. Thanks

PANTHERA

A Dedicated, Purpose-Built Air Rifle made to win .22lr precision rifle competitions

The FX Panthera is unlike any previous FX Airguns rifle. It is a dedicated slug rifle, purpose-built with precision competition in mind, accelerating the FX
Airguns legacy and pushing the boundaries of airgun performance. The Panthera includes technology displaying a generational leap-forward for an airgun.

It begins with the new Dynamic Block, a new breech block designed from the ground up for performance slug shooting. The Dynamic Block utilizes a compact one-piece valve. This High-Power / Short-Impulse Valve is extremely efficient while allowing an immense and precise flow of air.

The plenum design (i.e. Dynamic Plenum) feeding the Panthera is revolutionary and the first of its kind. It is an over-the-barrel plenum which provides a consistent regulated pressurized plenum around the barrel, adding increased rigidity to the barrel as well as allowing multiple plenum lengths to be employed to match the caliber and power of the rifle. Precise levels of pressure are maintained by the single AMP MKII Regulator. Three sizes of plenum will be utilized initially: a Micro Plenum (sub 12ft/lb rifles), Macro Plenum (62 cc) & Magnum XL Plenum (156 cc). The results of the Dynamic Breech & Plenum are extraordinary!

Testing has yielded constant 10 shot strings with standard deviations in the low 1.0–2.0 range and extreme spreads as low as 3-4. This ability to precisely control air flow paired with the world-class FX Superior STX barrel using premium slugs will yield competition wins, and not just in airgun competitions. .22LR precision shooters will identify the ability to shoot the same BC slugs and weights they are used to, but with the control and standard deviations that only FX Airguns can deliver.

Stock is designed for competition. It features a 14.75” long Arca rail complete with M-LOK sections and a barricade block nestled next to the breech (you can achieve an ideal balance point by adding external M-LOK compatible weights or internal FX Barrel Weights that attach under the shroud). The Panthera further fits the shooter using a fully adjustable buttstock and an adjustable cheekpiece that is also ambidextrous.

Air source is a 300cc carbon fiber bottle attached in the rear and is filled via a rear located foster quick disconnect. The Dynamic Block has a larger breech than previous rifles that allows projectiles up to 13mm in length. It uses the Standard Side-Shot Magazine but with a newly designed deeper lid to accommodate longer length slugs. The FX Panthera employs the Quick Tune System (the same as found on the FX Impact M3), uses a 20MOA picatinny scope rail, comes standard with a zero-angle AR grip, and has an ambidextrous sidelever cocking handle that is reversible to the left side of the rifle. Dual angled Manometers on the left side of the block show the bottle pressure and the regulated plenum pressure.

The FX Panthera will be offered in three configurations, the Panthera 700, Panthera 600 & Panthera 500 (corresponding to barrel length). The Panthera 600 & 700 utilize the FX Superior Heavy STX barrel liner as standard as they have been purpose built for slug shooting. The Panthera 500 uses the standard FX Superior STX barrel liner that shoots both pellets and light weight slugs. The rifle allows for the quick change of barrel liners but changing calibers and affixing different barrel lengths to the Panthera can only be done by an authorized FX dealer.

Additional accessories will be offered to further customize the rifle including a bag rider, barrel weights, offset M-LOK weights, smaller profile competition Mini-Mag, Picatinny accessory sections, and an optional tungsten hammer. The new FX Panthera will forever change the precision rifle world. It feels and shoots like a precision 22LR, enjoying straight back recoil, but with laser sharp precision and accuracy only found with an FX Airgun!

Standard versions comes delivered in a tailored cut-out hard-case.

Note: Muzzle energy listed in the specifications of each rifle is for maximum setting. Due to differences in regulations the rifle is often produced with a lower muzzle energy from the factory. Contact your dealer for more info about muzzle energy in your region.

I was sure my GX CS4 needed rebuilt.

EDIT: I had 20-30 hours on the machine I'm writing about prior to purchasing an hour meter for it. So 70-80 hours filling tanks.
I was filling a 9L tank a few days ago and I stopped hearing the clop clop clop.. (this one makes a slight clopping sound vs the CS4-I for some reason.
But it stopped filling over just over 200 bars.
I checked a few things over, checked the check valve, burst disc.. Nada
I decided to take it apart and take a look in the cylinders.
They were covered in grease, like smothered in grease.
All the check valves were full of grease as well.
So I cleaned it all up inside. Gave a very slight lube with the good stuff (Renewable Lubricants NLGI 2 Food Grade EP Grease)
Put it back together and it's doing a dead head test at 29 seconds (about the same as new)
It has 51.9 hours on it and the rings looked pristine under that grease. No self caused maintenance required still. Just some maintenance from me turing the grease knob too much I guess. Amazing.
The over one, CS4-I, has well over 60 hours on it now.
Just be very sparing with the grease pot. Use almost none I guess..
Best little portable compressors I've owned.

Tuning  Optimal Regulator Pressure based on Unregulated Shot String Bell Curve

Looking for some input from those experienced with adding regulators to previously unregulated rifles...

Scenerio: Unregulated rifle with a nice 50-shot bell curve - with velocity peaking at 150bar at current hammer spring preload.

Determining Optimal Regulator Set Point:

Would you set the regulator at 150bar?
Higher than 150 bar?
Lower than 150 bar?

My experience to date is that I'd set at 150bar or slightly less. (145-148 bar).

My reasons are that #1: Rifle seems to be at peak power/efficiency at 150bar. #2: unregulated shot string are smoother on the way down from the peak of the bell curve vs. om the way up. Essentially, on the upward part of the bell curve, the rifle is operating in a state of partial "valve lock" - making shot to shot velocity slightly less smooth.

I'd be interested in those that have added regulators to previously unregulated rifles - how they determined their "optimal" regulator pressure.

Thanks,

-Ed

N/A  Need help and your advise/expertise

Hi Guys!

First of all I'm sorry to do this question "again". But I read almost all posts from you about this argument of which should be the best choice on a middle range PCP.
But I didn't found the answers I'm looking for....

Said that, I'm looking to buy the best rifle my money can buy! Based on 4 important principles. But first I need to say that I'm located in Europe and as I saw of what you guys from USA "think" or have said on the posts given advise from others with my same questions that I read, and consider as a budget price rifle ( 300 USD), here in EU some of them are the double!

BTW I'll give you my 3 important things that I'm looking for...

1 - Price range I would like to stay on 300/400 euros ( here now the UX Notos is for around 420e, just to give an idea... others stays on the 300 range)

2 - I would like to have a powerful rifle, but also that on the near future I can be able to tuning and power up (as I saw you can do on the Snowpeak T-REX, but none has available here in EU).

3 - accuracy and cal. .22 (but if is best can be also .177)

4 - Finally a rifle that I can fill up with a hand pump and NOT a compressor.

So guys I would loved to know your opinion and advises on which brand/model is the best chose for me!
Thanks in advance to all that will replay and interact!!

Anschutz  Anschutz LG380

I finally got to shoot my (new to me) Anschutz LG380 yesterday. Some tweaking of the diopter and I was ready to go. Here are the first 5 shots at 11.8 meters. I am very pleased with that, especially with my old eyes looking through a diopter sight. I have to do some convincing in my mind that what I am looking at is actually centered:rolleyes: I wish I had the eyesight I had when I was younger!! I plan on installing a scope on it in the near future.

It's amazing how much fun these 10m rifles are to shoot. I now have the FWB 300s, Diana 75HV and the Anschutz LG380. All 3 bring a smile to my face when I shoot them. While I have some more powerful springers, there is just something about these old 10m rifles. The precision and craftsmanship are like a finely tuned swiss watch.

Mini Lathe for Small Parts?

So I have a cheapie HF small lathe that I've had for about 10 years now. It was always rickety and now even moreso. Thinking it's time for an upgrade.

Been off an on looking at smaller units. Space is a major concern. Saw a South Bend 1944 9A locally for 1700 with some tooling, and as much as I'd like to jump on it, I just dont have the space and I dont want to have to restore, mess with it, tinker, etc, etc. Seller states 'excellent' condition, but I dont know enough about them to verify that. I know there are a ton of these around and so good user support, but want something I can plug in and run.

So usage. I only infrequently use my current lathe. Partly because I dont have much I need to machine often, but also because I look for reasons NOT to use it because it's just not fun to use. It's fiddly, nothing on it seems 'tight'... I cant really do much with it other than delrin or aluminum without a ton of frustration. Case in point, yesterday I chopped off the choke on a barrel I intend to shoot slugs with. I could only get through 1/3 of the barrel and it was rough. Ended up using a hack saw and then facing it with the lathe, which was an adventure, but I eventually got it done.

I know Little Machine Shop sells the China lathes already QC'd and with upgraded parts and apparently their customer support is top notch.

I've looked at some of the larger benchtop Grizzly options, but see a lot of issues with them from folks. Seems hit or miss. I have a Grizzly band saw and after quite a lot of truing it up, etc, it does fine... but any adjustment to it is a PIA.

I think Precision Matthews is in the same category with LMS from what I've read.

Sherline has some interesting options, but their lathes are tiny... as in like 25lbs tiny. I've read that they perform above their weight, but would seem that there needs to be some mass there. Maybe these folks are making RC car parts and similar with them.

Any others I should look at or does anyone have any advice? Biggest criteria is I'd like to have a machine I dont have to mess with constantly to use. Price around the 2500 mark max. Benchtop size but still stout enough for some small parts from steel on occasion. I'm good with smaller cuts, been used to that.
