Custom Stock for Taipan Veteran II - Michal Osyda?

I am considering getting a Taipan Veteran II (not the tactical) air rifle based upon the immense number of positive recommendations. I don't like the Taipan stock because it is too blocky. I saw a video where a fellow (Poland?) made a beautiful walnut stock for the Veteran. Does this fellow still do this? How to contact him? The cost?
Thanks

FX  NEW! Am I in the right path? _Choosing attachments for Fx Panthera for Hunting and PRS

Hi ! Billions here. This is my first time in airgun nation and Im new to the hobby, i like it so far :D.

My goal is to practice prs and hunt small to medium game.
I´d like to start the hobby by buying 1 pcp rifle, 1 scope, 1 rangefinder and 1 chronograph once in my life time or as long lasting as possible before stuff breaks (stop spending that cash money $ and pay rent vibes :ROFLMAO:).

This is my shopping list so far:
Panthera fx 700 mm barrel, .25 cal.
Arken EP5 or EPL 4
Fx pocket chrono v2
Maven CRF.1 - 6X22 | 5-2400 YD or Leupold RX-1600 or tidewe budget option ?
slugs (not a clue which ones are right)

This list is made by me and my knowledge base on research i made. Im really not so sure what im doing.

My plan: I´ll start by practicing prs (350 yards max?) and eventually when i can afford it i´ll start buying parts to convert the panthera fx 700 mm .25 cal to a compact (shorter barrel, maybe folding AR stock, maybe change calibers, tanks etc...) for hunting and back to the original for prs, but using the same scope on both hunting and prs. Tell me, am i delusional? 🫣

So... my questions are:

HELP! am i in the right path to get to what i want?

Any other comments or tips on my plan?

Im open minded to constructive criticism and other recommendations or ideas. They would be greatly appreciated before I purchase stuff i can´t return.

Thank you guys for the support and information. Im looking forward to being part of the community and hopefully contributing cool stuff to it too 😎.

Why didn’t I read more about the atn pro 4k…

Or for that matter Atn products. Freeze from the get go. Well, update the firmware good sir…uh, let’s see, the firmware on my scope is more recent than what they have available to download so there goes that idea. Try this, try that, then turn off this and that. REALLY ..but wasn’t that part of the selling point? So brand new, turn off every option, look for software, OUT THE BOX? No thank you, right back to ATN. Oh, the sales guys called me each time immediately when I was looking to buy…but now? Vmail, vmail, vmail. It’s ok, I’ll take my refund and go elsewhere ATN.

  • Question
How to repair dent in stock?

Hey homies,

During a shipping mishap, my precious lefty Air Arms TX200 sustained a number of small but very noticeable dents to the walnut stock.

Is there any sort of quick trick for removing these? I have heard that boiling water works?

I tried the search function but didn't turn up anything definitive.

Thanks y'all - Nico

N/A  Air gun reviews, the good, the bad and the ugly

Does anybody have a source of true, unbiased air gun reviews?
Reviews where the reviewers do not gain anything by making the review ?

Negative reviews, is there a single negative review out there since I have not seen one?

The vast majority (90%+) of the air gun reviews are very positive.
Many air gun owners complain and have many bad things to say about their air guns.

I choose to trust the air gun owners who shoot thousands of pellets through their air guns, not the reviewers who may shoot a few hundreds (at best) and call it a day.

Accessories  NLA Solid Oak Long Gun Cradle - Brand New (I made it) - $100

After retirement 2.5 years ago I began repairing and making furniture for my children. I made a couple of oak gun cradles between these family projects. I made these because I grew tired of taking pictures of my air rifles and rimfire rifles laying on the ground, carpet,, floor, and couch.

This is a very sturdy cradle. You can see most of the parts are made of nearly 2" thick oak. The dimensions are 28" long, 9" wide, and about 7" tall. Each of the large vertical parts are bolted in place from the underside. I inserted metal threads in each of these pieces and stainless steel hex bolts are then screwed in from the bottom and counter sunk. Very sturdy and easy to assemble. I've used cow leather for parts where the gun stock will touch the wood. I made the 1 1/4" diameter wood bolt out of oak (soaked in mineral oil) and threaded the bolt stand.

This is a very adjustable cradle. While most commercial cradles have some type of adjustment to pin the butt stock to the stock support mine also has a double set of rails the grip support slides upon. This allows the cradle to be adjusted to fit many different long gun configurations.

The entire cradle is finished in boiled linseed oil and I have put squares of velcro loop on the bottom corners. This cradle weights 16 pounds so It isn't going to be shaken no matter the firearm placed in it.

I only made four of these. I'm keeping one, I've sold two and this is the third.

I will send it dismantled with simple instructions for attaching the parts to the cradle.

Please add $30 for shipping. If you like PayPal so do I, but USPS money order is fine as well.

Thanks

Whoops, I didn't know the title tag I assigned to my pictures showed on the pictures. That "close up of the butt" is quite a bit misleading!

Possible hazard…need help

Now I’m familiar with the carbon fiber bottles having a max pressure of 250 bar and tested at 310 bar. Some CF brands allow for 300 bar fill which is nice. However, with aluminum bottles I have no experience.

I got this 500cc aluminum bottle that is probably from an older FX. On the bottle it says tested to 375 bar. I intend to put it on an Avenger that is capable of 300 bar fill (4350 psi).

Can I fill it to 300 bar safely? Or should I stick to 250 bar for safety?

  • Question
Break barrels under $400

I've been wanting a Hatsan Carnivore since I first saw a guy using it on a YouTube channel. Nitro piston break barrel. Before I ordered one, I thought I would ask if there was anything else similar to the Carnivore that would be equally enjoyable to land black birds and other large nuisances in the neighborhood, with the option of small game hunting.

Cold Weather Shooting

The weather here in Michigan has turned towards winter again. The cold can really put a shooter down and keep them indoors. My friend has a solution and it is called an ice fishing shanty. Chuck has had the shanty in his garage for ten years gathering dust. His son goes fishing all year and fills his freezer with walleye so no more ice fishing. We repurposed the shanty into a shooting shanty. We filled the fishing holes up with plywood and cut some big shooting holes in the front of the shanty. The shanty is a standard sized sheet of plywood so plenty of room for each shooter.

We use an indoor rated heater to keep the cold at bay and it gets pretty toasty. The shanty keeps the temps in the 60's even with two big holes cut into it. When the weather gets colder we put a big horse blanket on top for insulation. We typically shoot for four or five hours with some breaks thrown in. When we are done shooting we take it back down, takes about five minutes to put up or take down.

I hope this gives other shooters an idea on how to keep shooting in the winter time. I suggest looking on Craig's List for an old ice fishing shanty. They are easily repurposed and keeps the elements at bay.

FX  What is the limit of crown mk2?

I have a mk2 i want to "adjust". As is stands now I have pin probe, huma spring and tungsten weight. Reg is at 155bar and I shoot .25 33.49 KO mk2 at 950fps with good groups.
BUT my tune is hopfully way off since i only get around 25 shots from 250bar down to 155, but thats is maybe how it has to be to push the slugs at that speed? Should I be able to reach that speed with lower reg pressure?
I tried to lower and get speeds around 900 but the slugs didnt like that somehow.
