I am trying to build a field target club in IOWA. I live in the Iowa city Cedar Rapids area and figure an hours and a half drive is about as far as I would want to drive every month to shoot. More like forty five minutes.
But let’s see where people live before scouting a location

I think the first thing to do is a name.

let’s have some ideas and make sure the name is not taken or mean something that will cause problems or embarrassment.

My first choose is IFTA. Iowa Field Target Association.

It is taken by some other entities but might work.

I will probably have to start a Facebook page that can function as a center point for scheduling and rain out information and dates. Field target does not rain out but Iowa can have weather without rain that keeps you home.

The name is the first thing they need.

Any suggestions?

Just a PSA to folks thinking about getting a March scope. If you need service/repairs, you will have to ship it back to Japan on your own nickel. For my March High Master 10-60x56, it is going to be $140 with only about 1/2 the insurance needed to replace it. I understand the turn-around is 2 to 3 months. For Sightrons or Trijicon, you only need to ship to a US address, despite being built overseas, which is quick and lots cheaper.

This particular scope is having problems tracking elevation and windage adjustments. This is also manifesting itself in a significant amount of POI shift with temperature. I mounted the scope on a picatinny rail attached to a heavy table and watched the POI shift down and left all day with temperature swings, over 4.5 MOA through a hot day. This really explains a lot of the problems I have been having on the field target course (WFTF class). I had to adjust 2.5 MOA to get close to the kill zones mid-match on a recent GP The March scope ranges beautifully, but I am not sure I have confidence to use it for field target anymore.

I have an Umarex Notos and Zelos, both in .22 and both made by Snowpeak.
The airguns are great, but the magazines are crap.

The Notos magazines, do not align properly in the receiver and have to be pushed by hand into a position where the bolt can push the pellet into the barrel.

One of my Zelos magazines stopped working in a week.
The internal magazine drum stopped rotating.

The 15 years old Marauder style magazines work well, are cheap, and can be easily disassembled and fixed.

It has been said that your first site is your best siting. I started pulling the trigger on my HW 97 within three seconds to see what happens. Good or bad I was going to pull the trigger. Three seconds. Strange as it may seem I am getting way better groups. No brain fade. No Trigger mortis. Even made it more fun.

Duct taped some old, expired credit, debit, gift, and health insurance cards into a brick and let the lead fly. Might be less efficient than a shredder, but I’d argue in favor of the fun and effectiveness..

Why does air tanks Plus charge $30 for shipping on an item that only cost $27.50? Is there something I am doing wrong in the ordering process? I looked over it a couple of times and that just seems to be the shipping rate.....

Selling my notos build, internally it is unmolested, no porting has been done, no springs have been cut or changed.

I installed the dream valve along with a 360cc CF bottle that currently gives me about 130 shots from a 28mpa fill.

I have 5 Tango sierra mags for it 3 12rd and 2 15rd.

It likes to shoot CPHP, 15.89gr JSB, 14.3gr JSB and 18.8gr JTS Wadcutters as well as polynags byt the polymags don't fit the magazine.

I also replaced the internal baffles and added the tango sierra mod insert which makes it even quieter. It does add about 3 inches to the overall length, but it is pretty well balanced.

I have taken hundreds of iguanas with this gun already, I like it a lot, it's just not really for me. So I'm letting it got for $475. It will come with all of the original parts as well of you want them.

I'm looking at getting this scope - Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 2-12x42 AHMR2 0.1 MIL. Its for a vermin / hunting application anywhere between 30 to 150 meters as a maximum.

I just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this scope and wanting some feedback. The reviews look good online and I personally love the reticle.

I'm so torn between a fixed prismatic style scope & this, I love the really wide field of views of the Prim's offer, but there are times when I just need that little bit more or less magnification & I'm thinking this is a good alternative / all rounder for me.

Happy to hear of any other suggestions from anyone else or experience with Athlon scopes in general.

I just have a quick question, I own a lot of $300-$800 airguns from Avenger, JTS , Benjamin,etc mostly .22 and a few .25
I have always looked for bargin guns cause I never could shell out a lot of $ on a gun.
What I found is almost all the bargin guns function about the same. some good some not as good.
I would love to get a gun that is accurate and has power at 50 and 100yrds
I am NOW looking at spending a little more $ and getting an FX.
My question is Do you thing it would be worth buying a $2000 gun vs a lot of cheaper guns?
Will I be glad I did or disapointed? I just do plinging bench rest not hunting.

It is still lead and no matter how fine a dust particle it is ground in to, it is still many, many, many, many, many times heavier than air and immediately falls to the floor. I am sorry but it is not true at all. I have lead poisoning from the lead dust. It is enough when you shoot indoors frequently or you chrony your gun indoors. Our silencers are called LDCs (lead dust collectors) for a reason. Have you seen the interior of such a silencer? It is covered with lead dust. I also had a talk with an indoors shooting range employee. His BLL (blood lead level) is 10 times as high as the norm - 500 ug/L. He does not inhale lead on purpose. My BLL was about 100ug/L - twice as high as the norm. Now I am more or less at the norm level. I did some chelation to speed the excrection up.

The most dangerous form of lead is lead dust. Almost all inhaled lead is absorbed through the lungs into your bloodsteam. Then, some of it is excreted through the sweat, bile and urine. The rest is built into the bones from which the excrection can last many years.

The lead inhalation absorbtion is in contrast with the ingested lead as the absorbtion through the digestion system is about 10% only.

I am looking for a place to purchase a general purpose o-ring kit with multiple different o-rings for my air rifles in them.

My father and I each have primary and backup FX Impact MKII .30 cal 700mm Snipers. We have had them for several years and we are ready to upgrade to newer air guns, so I am selling our trusty MKIIs to fund our upgrades.
