.30 AEA 50.5 - rumors or reality?

So, how many have heard rumors that the latest few batches of .30 AEA 50.5 pellets are “different” and don’t shoot as well as the ones that shot so well and were so hard to get last year?
I’ve heard that cavity sizes were different, cavity depths were different, weight spreads were different, and they just generally don’t shoot as well from most guns as they used to.
I compared all of mine and they look the same, but I haven’t bought any this year.

There must be some truth to the rumors as Saber Tactical has been holding back cases of them received last summer for their top shooters.
Does anyone have any solid knowledge on this topic they can share?

It appears any made after this production date are changed - in the spirit of JSB - if it works and it’s successful, change it. 🤔
If you don’t buy them 30 tins at a time, and get the actual box label, you’ll never know from the tin when yours were made.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Brocock Sniper XR Magnum LAMINATE HP, .25 cal, Excellent, $1,135 shipped CONUS

*** SOLD ***

I'm not sure whether I should do this as with the current AoA price of these guns at $2,200 I may never be able to afford one again. But with the loss of our local big range, I continue to part with my high power guns. Just not needed where I do most of my shooting these days - my 25 yard back yard plinking range.

I bought this gun pre-owned from AoA last July. They rated its condition as excellent/close to new, and I would say it remains in this fine condition. Little wear marks shown in pics below on the upper and lower Pic rails, and 2 little dits in the metal shown by green tape arrows.

But it is a fine shooter, accurate and pleasant. I haven't adjusted it as received from AoA, and it shoots 25.39's over my chrony at an average of 871 fps with the transfer port knob full open. And that is just how I have been shooting it. No leaks, no issue, just really nice and more power than I currently need.

Comes with original owner's manual, OEM new-style flip open magazine and OEM single shot tray. Does NOT come with scope and rings seen in pics below.

I have been told that my camera pushes browns over grays in the photos I post, and that may be so. I like the Canon jpeg engine as it is warm and bright. In the last photo below I show the stock with black, white and neutral gray cards. This stock looks more brown then gray to my naked eyes as well.

$1,135 payable via PayPal Friends & Family, including shipping in the CONUS.

Once again, scope and rings NOT included.

First 'I'll take it' PM wins. Won't ship until Tuesday due to the UPS holiday closure on Monday.

Thanks,
Tom

PCP Rifle  SOLD Reduced AIR FORCE TALON SS .22 New Style REDUCED to $400 shipped

Read Everything

For Sale: AirForce Talon SS .22 Caliber (New Style) – Excellent Condition

Selling my used but well-cared-for AirForce Talon SS in .22 caliber (new style with AR-compatible grips). I’ve only put a tin of JSB Hades through it. I’m planning to ditch .22 altogether for my hunting needs—it feels like the ground squirrels around here are wearing Kevlar vests! The .22 just doesn’t do enough damage, even though the gun’s zeroed and I can make headshots on lizards all day long. The .25, though—that one sends them to their maker quick.

A few notes:
-Scope, mounts, and sling not included.
  • I removed the automatic safety, but after doing so, the gun on rare occasions won’t engage the sear if you cock it too fast. If you cock it slowly, it works fine. I’m sure a spring swap or adjustment could fix it, but I’m not messing with it. The little quirk I live with because now you can de cock the rifle and the bolt is smoother.
  • I have the original safety piece, so you can reinstall it if you want.
  • This is the new style Talon SS with AR-compatible grips.
  • I have the original box and original grip included.

Price: $400 shipped

Payment: PayPal Friends & Family

If you know me, you know I take care of my gear. Feel free to ask any questions!

Airgun Technologies  Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal and JSB knockouts

Wake up early and immediately notice there was not wind at all.

Perfect moment to try accuracy with the Vulcan 3 700 mm .25 Cal.

Quickly put on some trousers and a shirt over the pijama, my boots and went to my long range shooting stand (132 yards ).

This rifle is insane accurate at long distance ( my very best pcp for long distance at the moment).

I have a Leopard Bottle Standard (600 mm) . 25 Cal on the way to it's new home. I am expecting 20% more power. If I get the same accuracy of the Vulcan with 20% more power.... Well the Leopard would be a dream for hunters.

This past season I took two javalinas with .25 Cal: One with the FX Panthera Compact and one with the Sidewinder both at 70 fpe.

The gain would be responsible kills at longer distance.

In three week I should be reporting experience about Leopard.

FX  POI shift Impact vs Dynamic v King etc. ?

Most of the time we read about POI shift in Impact.

I would like to know if newer models in which liner is under air pressure like in Dynamic, Panthera and King etc. , is there still issues of POI shifts ?

I feel that POI should not shift in Panthera, Dynamic and King etc.

Please share your real life experience.

Should we write our own product reviews?

Should we write our own product reviews?

With little or no opportunity to actually handle airguns that I’m interested in, I do a lot of research before committing to an online purchase.

Unfortunately, once you filter out the advertising hype and biased reviews there’s not much real information left. In those shallow, glossy videos you never know what the reviewer inadvertently (or deliberately) missed in their rush to publish. Really, can anybody form an accurate assessment of a new airgun by shooting a couple of groups?

Usually, after I’ve done the best research I can, there’s still bunch of unanswered questions. To get honest, detailed answers, I turn to Air Gun Nation to ask people I know and trust for their comments. As a reciprocal, I help people when I can.

As airgunners, we love showing off and talking about our airguns almost as much as we do shooting them. I was thinking that we should post reviews of our airguns that others who are looking for information could benefit.

As an example, I bought a RAW HM1000x and shared my experiences (so far) in three posts: First Impressions; Detailed Inspection and the Honeymoon that were very well received.

I plan a Summary post once I’ve had a chance to do some detailed testing and shoot some “report cards” showing accuracy and groups. The idea is that people can view what a casual shooter like me can achieve with this airgun/projectile and decide if this is an airgun they might want.

https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/hm1000x-first-impressions.1325932/

https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/hm1000x-detailed-inspection.1326163/

https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/hm1000x-honeymoon.1329199/

I’m thinking that casual real user product reviews might be something fun to make and useful to have.

Nothing fancy, just personal experiences as you setup and learn your new airgun…

- What did you buy the airgun for? Does it meet with your expectations?

- What feature do you particularly like or dislike about the airgun?

- How’s the fit/finish/smoothness of the machining and assembly?

- How are the ergonomics (weight, balance, feel)?

- What are the Baseline stats? What performance are you getting?

- What projectiles does it like or dislike?

- What shot-count are you getting?

- How’s the magazine?

- For scope mounts, how high is the magazine above the receiver?

- Will this be a permanent addition to the cabinet or will it be for sale soon?

Basically, any information that’s not in the sales literature would be of value to a new or potential owner to know. I’d be game to write up quick reviews of my airguns on those days when the weather is not suitable for shooting and I’d be interested in reading about your experiences as well.

So, what do you think? Is it worth while having a “Product Review” folder or a “Review” category, or just putting the word “REVIEW” in the post title?

Cheers!

y axis has run out

I am using a new to me ATN HD pro 5x20 and I’m shooting really short distances at night….. like 50-60’. I get it, I can’t move the reticle past a certain point so my current “zero”. Is like 3mil dots low. Is there anything I can do to actually zero this scope or is this the best I can do? If this is it…. I have an AGN 5x20 scope for sale or trade for a less powerful scope like 3x??? Thanks all for any info I can get.

GX-E-CS4I clacking

Hello everyone,

unfortunately I don't speak English, so I use a translator for my messages, so please excuse me if some sentences seem incomprehensible.
I have a Vevor compressor which works well, but is very noisy !!!
I recently bought a GX-E-CS4 I compressor and since the beginning when it reaches +/- 100 bar, there is a little “clacking” however it continues to inflate without problem and rises to 300 bar (with the hose plugged in 32 seconds.
But I'm still worried about the clicking sound.
Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
I'll attach a short video sequence if I can!

Thanks to this great community.

Daniel.

Air Venturi  I ordered my first PCP.

A few months ago, I studied air rifles to death and ended up not buying one. The expenses associated with a good PCP compared to a 22 sub ammo round was a turn off for me. Since then, I've retired and my neighbor bought his own PCP for starlings. He shoots non-lead pellets in order to cut down on lead poisoning possibility of his chickens and other farm poultry. My rifle should be here in the first week of June. Has anyone messed with non-lead 22cal slugs? What did you learn? Thanks, and have a wonderful weekend.

Stupid mistake

I went to the range to sight in my new M4 with Sightron 10-50. Was so excited. I started at 50 yards and slowly dialed in. My final group was 3 within 1/2 inch. I was like great. Let’s move onto 100 yards.

I fire my first shot and it’s no hole near the target. I’m confused. I load a second and nothing near the target. When I load my fourth shot it catches and I realize the pellets are stuck in the barrel. Sigh.

I get home and use some metal chopsticks to start pushing them out. The initial pellet that got stuck was a few inches from exiting but it was really stuck. I ended up needing to drill the initial pellet out before I could get the others out.

I have a few questions. Did I damage the barrel drilling it out? I don’t see any visual damage.

Second, I was shooting zan .30. Has anyone had this happen where the pellets deformed enough to stick in the barrel? Is there anything I should check before using the pellets?

Thanks for your advice.

Umarex  New Member- 2nd airgun arrival Zelos .25

Hi All- after spending some to practice at the range with my custom built 1911 .45 acp, I wanted to figure out how to have a little trigger time in my back yard. Then I found this site. My wallet is lighter as a result lol.

Huben GK1 .25 with some goodies from Krazcool arrived a couple days ago. What a dream air gun.

Then, I decided to purchase a Zelos .25. I really wanted the fix impact but the huben made me slow down $$. My Hawke 3-9 50 objective and mount arrives tomorrow. The donnyfl moderator arrives next week. The Huben adapter and regulator arrives next week. I am still on the fence about what tank.

Appreciate any thoughts on what direction to go. Cheers.

Sheridan  Cleaning a Sheridan

Picked up this 5mm Sheridan/Benjamin/ Crosman. 2002 model. Did a trigger job. Lube and basic exterior cleaning. It started out at 650fps with eight pumps. Using 11.42 grain H&N FTT. Accuracy was mediocre with occasional flyers. So, I went to do a deep clean on the barrel. Using Birchwood Casey ”honeycomb” patches (best patch I’ve ever used) Shooters Choice bore cleaner, then Never Dull cotton brass polish and finally Tryflo lubricant. Probably an hour and 60-70 patches later I finally got a smooth bore and a bench full of green, then black and finally clean patches. Now with eight pumps I’m getting over 700fps. 645 with six pumps. And no flyers. Spot on accuracy. This gun is nearly 25 years old. Doesn't appear to have ever been shot. The barrel had just gone green with tarnish. Very important to clean these brass barreled classics to keep the tarnish from becoming a power loss and accuracy issue. FWIW.

Atomic XR a mixed bag in a crowded house…🙈

Went out for rats last night and was utterly skunked for various reasons and interruptions. Also it was cold and the rats being smarter than I stayed in… So, I went back out this afternoon about 4 pm to see what I might… It was a good session… Took a bunch of sparrows and two rats in this very crowded hoop house. As you can see by the very crowded conditions, judicious sending at all times…! I was surprised to see the rats as I wasn’t expecting them. Atomic XR, Zulus 5-20x atop, sending CPHPs. Furthest shots 30 yards, the little sub 17 FPE Atomic simply wrecks them at those ranges… The starling was my first kill exiting the truck…. This little gun is simply murder on these small vermin out to 50 yards…

Barrel length and FPS?s

I was under the assumption that a longer barrel yielded more FPS. I swapped out my .22 standard Vet barrel for a Vet long barrel which is 3.5” longer. I crono’d the standard barrel at 870 FPS with a 22 grain pellet. Then replaced the standard with a long barrel and shot the same pellet, at the same tune and it averaged 873 FPS. I figured that I would see the FPS increase more than 3 FPS. What am I missing here?
