Epic  Tomorrow will be the day

Been sitting on this rifle for a few weeks now with very little time between work, weather, and the lack of daylight to really tune her in and find out what she likes. Epic Two with .22 700mm LW. So far the MRD shallow are showing the best results right around 970fps. Tomorrow I have the whole day and relatively light 5 mph winds to deal with and really give her a go. Stay tuned folks.

The Altaros M24 TCS is an upgraded version of the original Altaros M24 rifle where the plastic stock has been replaced with the new high-quality fully adjustable Altaros Tactical Chassis System.

This stock is made from high-grade aluminum, provides extreme rigidity and high shooting comfort which contributes to significantly better accuracy.

Altaros Tactical Chassis System can be easily installed as a replacement for the original plastic stock on your Altaros M24.

If I could do it over

If I could do it over again I wouldn’t buy most of the stuff I bought and sold. I would’ve been fine with a Talon p, Condor SS and a Talon ss. All simple guns that don’t cost an arm and a leg with lifetime warranty. None are regulated and all are low pressure. Yes they’re single shot but that’s all you get hunting anyway. Remember these work for my life style this may not work for everyone. Did I mention 3 o rings?

HW/Weihrauch  The new HW95n seems dry?

Unlike my others this rifle has yet to deisel?

I got about 150 rounds through it when all of a sudden the barrel closed rough. I lubed the pivot points and pin, then back to smooth as glass. Three more shots, then I felt a difference in the cock stroke, so I let the pressure back off and put it away for the day.

I guess I'm disassembling it for a proper lube job.

Will I void warranty?
What are the premium lubes for this job?
Should I just do a kit now?

👍

Power limit in airguns in its non-FAC version...

Hi all, I am curious to know the power of airguns in the different countries of the members of this forum in its non-FAC version.
If there is any country where there is no power limit you can also mention it.
In Spain the power is limited to 24.2 joules (17.8 fpe).
Come on guys, please answer.

Taipan  .25 taipan standard

I purchased this .25 taipan standar with the intention of change the barrel to a 15mm TJ 1-22 twist. Why .? Because they suck . I have never found a review of the .25 that at least was some what close to the accuracy of the .22 . I personally have had 2 including one of the first original long and it simply can't shoot the 34g pellets in a aceptable way and the 25gr where at least aceptable.. it was really rare for me because I have shot cheap guns like the hatsan or krall and they have shot way better.. THIS least batch of taipan have won the barrel lottery it shoots Great almost any pellets you throw at it including the 34gr wich make the gun as silent as my .22 .. and I was testing at 94y + with pellets .. I'm more than happy with this purchase this kind of acurracy was what i being looking for in a .25 for the last 6 years.. OF this las batch there is only one left .. at only $1,100 what a bargain.

N/A  First PCP - Umarex Notos or Gamo Urban - 4 practical off-hand shooting

So im torn between Umarex Notos or Gamo Urban - i like nice stuff so while i might upgrade to a compact FX impact m4 down the road im really looking for something to get my fingers wet with - to see if this is my thing or not.... not new to shooting hunting etc.... and was looking for quiet and light weight .22 air rifle/carbine that doesn't break the bank and has a magazine of sorts (not single shot). And by light weight i mean sporty - something that can be shot accurately off-hand while standing up - not a bench gun. I had a rws side cocking rifle years ago (Diana Model 48 .22 ) and i swear that MF was heavier than my .308 - it was terrible. Both the Notos and the Urban seem to fit the bill and im sure both are
quieter than 90db which is about what im getting from a 22LR cci CB cap out of an 18" brl - dont need to scare / alarm neighbors... mostly looking for squirrel and opossum control in my urban farm... but nice if there was a way to pump it up manually off grid if needed . i think both of these PCPs also offer hand pump options.

I guess im wondering or rather thinking why doesnt the Urban have a regulator - wouldnt this make the gun shoot more consistent along with the pressure curve? Ive been reading here though that many like 80+% say the urban is more accurate and or a better option - and im trying to figure out why?

is the regulator on the notos not adjustable? is it the shorter barrel? Build quality? I like the look of the notos but would like something accurate from 5-100 yards

Ive seen posts of Frankenstein guns : notos frames with gamo urban barrels - what does this give you (besides a headache when some seal or some part needs replacement)? Interesting ...but IDK...

HW/Weihrauch  R7 compression tube scratches

I have two R7s, both in .177, and they are my most enjoyable plinking guns. Both guns were purchased new about 10 or 12 years ago. A new ARH kit and vortek piston seal was installed in one of my R7s about six months ago, and it is shooting brilliantly. I opened the other R7 to install the same ARH kit and vortek seal combination last week. This gun had not been opened in 7-8 years and had a vortek pg2 kit inside with at least 15k shots. At some point in this gun's lifetime, the rear of the piston was making contact with the compression chamber. I don't recall when this happened, and suspect I just attributed any roughness in cocking to a 'breaking in' process after I installed the vortek pg2 kit years ago 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️.

The problem I'm left with is that there is a rough/scratched area in the compression tube. These scratches are farther back in the compression tube than the piston's stroke when fired. But they do present a problem when trying to install a new piston seal because I have to push the seal past this rough area and there is high potential for the seal to be nicked or cut.

Can I use sandpaper on a dowel, or some other process, to remove these scratches in the compression tube? Or is the tube just toast? Any input on how others have fixed scratches or abrasions in a compression tube would be appreciated. I don't have a lathe and my plan B is to buy another compression tube from Chambers if there is no viable fix. Thanks.

Bipods/Rests  SOLD Hydraulic Bipod - Accu-Tac Hydro-Bipod (Arca Spec QD) with carrying case

REDUCED to $750

This is an incredible bipod for a long-range shooter.

I purchased this bipod and it was never used in the field. I mounted my Air Rifle and soon realized that for my purposes it was overkill. The unit is in near new condition and functions properly.

According to Accu-Tac, “The Hydro-Bipod is our most innovative bipod yet! This model is meant to cater to long-range and extreme long-range users, but will also be a great tool for any precision-driven user. The Hydro-Bipod has the ability to cant, and the center hub has a hydraulic vertical adjustment option that can be adjusted with an X-handle control that pushes fluid through a hose. The legs have outward, forward, and backward leg position options, as well as the option to extend the leg for added height.”

According to Accu-Tac, the bipod is sod out.

It will be carefully packed and shipped in its original case.

The original price is $1,170.

Reduced to $750 net to me including shipping CONUS.

I want a Crosman 2300M !

Recently, I've been helping some friends get started in 10M Air Pistol Competition. What, I've found is that there are now painfully few 10M friendly pistols that can be had in the sub $500 range for folks looking to get their feet wet with decent equipment. Along those same lines, I ended up picking up a used Crosman 2300S to play around with. What I've found in that pistol is that it's basic quality, accuracy and ease of use make it a good candidate for mods to use it for 10M shooting. IMHO, only grips, trigger and sights keep it from really excelling in the 10M world .

That said, it seems so evident to me that Crossman is already sitting on 90% of the hardware to make a 10M specific match pistol if they would just recognize the gaping hole in the current market. :
Here is what I'm thinking for a new 2300 Match model:

- Start with the 2300 body and frame.
-Use the Lothar Walther barrel and power adjuster currently used in the 2300S version
-Add the trigger group from the 1701P or Benjamin Prod
-Add some better sights adjustable rear and blade front) sights tuned to 10M needs. Maybe upgraded from the 2300T but not as elaborate as the 2300S.
- Add a target specific grip with thumb shelf and adjustable palm shelf( similar to what is currently found on the $250 AV V10) . The grip could be wood or composite really

Such a pistol would:

  • give a shooter a easy and cheap to feed C02 driven pistol that would deliver 60-80 shots on one (sub $1) CO2 cartridge.
  • Alleviate cocking struggles often associated with single stroke pneumatic pistols . This would be especially appealing to youth , women and senior shooters.
-Provide excellent balance and ergonomics for one hand shooting.
- Likely have a retail price of $450 ish in my estimation.

All that said, I know I can build my own 2300 in this configuration 9and am currently working to do so) but it would be nice if newbies could just order one direct as they can now with the 2300T/2300S.

PCP Rifle  FOUND WANTED: Something in 30 cal…

Hey all.

So I’m looking for something in .30 cal. Beyond that I’m not sure. Basically I have a lifetime’s worth of .30 pellets and slugs but nothing left to shoot them with, and it’s more trouble to sell them than it is to just buy a new gun to make them disappear the old fashioned way.

Let me know what you have. My price range is flexible, but I know what things cost.

Thanks

RTI  RTI Mora issue

The Mora is easily more accurate than my impact and Panthera. The issue at first was the speed would drop and after filling the speed stayed the same and continued to drop. I took the regulator out and cleaned it. The big issue now is the gun will not pressurize and the gun reads zero on the reg. I set the regulator to max pressure and same issue. Any ideas? I also set the first stage reg higher and same issue.

Magazines  SOLD Sell or Trade Huben K1 Custom .218 mag

Got a custom .218 sized mag from Kelly, i checked all the chambers and they are .218 sized. I put it on my rifle but noticed that the barrel would need to be realigned to the magazine, it is slightly smaller than the mag I had on my rifle. So if you put it on your gun it will likely need to be realigned.

In the picture tye mag is filled with .218 sized 36gr H&N slugs

Selling for $150 shipped or Trade

Collectors and the cathartic culdesac.

Ok. After reading tonight about a poor soul who BAUGHT a 20 year safe queen gun and second cock it’s locked up.
It rings a bell of reinforcement on why using them at least once a month is not only rewarding and pleasing .. Its mandatory for proper lubrication dispersion.
Heat created softens the lubricants and Re releases them subjugate to sitting hardening.. light surface rusting can be smoothed off and new lubes applied.

Secondly , you could coat the outside of the gun with as much oils as you want… Rust will find a way. It’s like life.
internally it only takes a little to cause a hang up in a gun that’s been sitting in a safe. Only to be in the hands of the poor soul who knows nothing thinking he BAUGHT ” private Malone’s Corvette..”. Now that is a old one. 😆 and has a paper weight on his hands.

Thirdly. Here is the one that will flame many safe sailors. THIS INDUSTRY IS A TINY SPECK … NOW ADD IN THE 1% w/o would want to collect for later return On your dollar. I’m going to let you in on a secret. IF YOUR LUCKY YOU DIE AND YOUR KIDS INHERIT AND ARE AIR GUNNERS TO.. IF NOT, YOUR BETTER HALF, LOVED YOUR PASION AND KNOWS ONE OF YOUR GOOD FRIENDS WHO MAY HELP. IF NOT ,,,…CHANCES OF YOUR PRIZED COLLECTION IS GONNA BE EITHER GIVEN TO NIECES AND NEPHEWS WHO WILL LET IT RUST IN A GARAGES AS THEY MAKE VIDEOS ON TOMORROWS SOCIAL MEDIA.

I don’t condone collecting for desire to have a series of guns you love and will use, and shoot and enjoy.. That being said I know a few who buy them with hopes of keeping them as the day they were built … NEVER EVEN SHOOTING THEM. 🤔 DOING MUCH MORE FUTURE DAMAGE THAN GOOD.
I have several so called collectable guns that I use ,hunt and enjoy. Do I try to abuse them HELL no.., But I sure as hell appreciate their value and the workmanship the designers made them for when successful hunts happen or 10 rings are hit.

LIKE I SAID many times. You paid for it. You should maintain it properly and shooting them does not loose their value.
Even if you have #1 of 5 made.
🔥 suit on ……..

Not using and enjoying something you have paid for. Is like not getting busy with your girl ,saving her for the next guy. What good is a eagle who never gets to fly or a Ferrari that never gets to go fast.
Im sure I’ll get 20 reasons of dereliction of my view or opinion.
Remember , you can’t take it with you, and they sure are not hauling a safe in a hurst.
If your lucky your child can continue with proper maintenance ,continue to enjoy it’s fine craftsmanship. ….Or ."…..the garage sale gift that sits rusting

.

Still Trying The Star

Still trying to hit the star with TX#3.
Field Target on Sunday, 50 shots at the yard targets off the bucket and sticks..
Then cleaned and lubed 500 H&N FTT, 8.64gr, 4.52mm pellets.
(That is what I use.)
Then, at the star with H&N FTT.
Holes not as sharp as with the WC, huh?
Still 20 shots, standing, offhand at 10Y.
A couple got away:

Other  Large air tanks

I was at the scuba shop getting a tank filled today and the owner there asked why I don’t get a large steel tank and keep it in my garage. He suggested a 200 tank. Filing it is the same price as my small tanks and I was wondering if anyone else is doing that. He said he has two customers he fills them for. Also he is filling them to 6000 psi for them.

How long does a pcp airgun bottle last for?

So we all know large cf tanks last for 15 years and need hydro test every 5 years. After 15 years shops won't even fill or hydro test it anymore.
So question is, how long does bottles on pcp last for? Do they need to be hydro test evert 5 years? Can I keep using my 480cc bottle after 15 years or do I toss them away? I haven't heard anyone sending their small pcp bottles for hydro testing.

N/A  Choices over choices…

So today wife says “I really struggle with thinking of a present for you for Xmas this year, but how about another airgun?”

I wasn’t really in the market for another given that I got an M4 and a Ghost this year buuuut… here we are :) now I am thinking about guns I was sort of eyeing and thinking about but didn’t pull the proverbial trigger for one reason or another. Cause isn’t that what presents are for? Getting things you wouldn’t buy for yourself? On the list are:

RTI Mora - though the standard seems to be sold out and the sniper may be a little long…

RTI P3 - thinking about it can’t remember why I never got that one…

FX King - maybe the new synthetic? Though I got annoyed with FX for not fixing we’ll known bugs with the M4. But when you get them to do what they’re supposed to?! Oh boy…

BRK Pathfinder - maybe something light and fun for the woods? Loving the Ghost so maybe another BRK…

I know it’s hard to pick/recommend a gun without knowing for what purpose, but if you were offered “pick any” today, what would you pick? I mostly plink in the backyard anywhere from 40 to 75y and occasionally 100y, other than that hunting/pesting small stuff with airguns. All in .22 and .25 and don’t really want to go bigger.

Thanks in advance!

Vevor Compressor no start

Back in August I purchased a PCP air rifle, then I purchased a Vevor Compressor. When it arrived the box was damaged. After inspection one of the cooling line fittings was broke off, no big deal to replace. I also found the top air line bent. I contacted Vevor for a replacement, they refused and wanted a video of it running. I told them they were nuts to think I was going to start a damaged 4500psi compressor and video it for them. They persisted and requested a video before anything could be done. I turned the table on them and requested an email of them accepting liability if anything went wrong while making their video. They immediately refunded my money and said dispose of the compressor. I took the compressor to a company in Edmonton AB that deals in high pressure SS air lines. They inspected and assured me that the lines are meant to be formed and the extra bends are no issue. At this pint I hunted down the special oil required and filled it. When I plugged it in and hit the start button, all it did was buzz or humm. The Vevor compressor failed to start. I can turn the compressor by hand and it rotates.I tested the start capacitor and its good. I dont think the start capacitor is getting power. Can anyone shed some light on this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. I am almost at the end of my patience regarding this venture and tending to want to sell the Air Rifle and be done with it
