O rings on Probe

Just put Orings on one of my probes, Yes it was leaking air when I tried to fill Pistol,,, Seems there would be something to spread the o'ring out and just slide it on the probe,
Is there any such tool?? Maybe a wood or steel stick just a little bigger than the probe, a cone shaped tool ..
Took me an hour just to put two small 0 rings on a probe, Got to be a easier way..
Maybe we need a space just for air gun tools ,,

Air Arms  AA TX200 MkIII will not cock

All,

Experiencing the below problems. This happened while shooting it. Was going fine until a shot that sounded louder than norm. Then the below issue is noted. If anyone with experience in troubleshooting and solving this, please post.

Problem:
- The gun will not cock
- Will release to uncocked position (bear trap latch will hold until I release it)
- Cocking lever will not stay latched

Observations (don’t know if normal or a problem)
- Cocking shoe is loose in its recess on the compression tube (normal?)
- Where the cocking shoe contact the compression tub, it is peened, fore and aft end (normal?)
- Rear guide washer missing (per schematic it show needs to be in between the spring and the rear part of the spring guide) (when I disassembled the gun, did not see that part, don’t know if it is really missing or just not needed or an actual part on this model)

I did the following and checked:
- cleaned off lube and inspected parts for damages or “workie-ness"
- spring is undamaged
- piston seal and the baring guides all appears undamaged (plenty of lube)
- O rings in the breech appears ok
- breech area appears ok
- seems to have good “suction and compression” when I relubed and tested by plugging the hole and pushing on the piston in and out
- cocking arm and the link have no unusual wear and appears undamaged (not bent)
- cocking link fits into the shoe ok but not allowing travel enough towards the muzzle to allow the detent to latch (when assembled)… had to unlatch to line up the hole to reinstall the pin… will not line up if latched.

thanks in advance for your insight

Rusty Barreled HW97K?

Hello All,
Tried search and not 1 result for rust.
Im guessing this barrel on a newly acquired HW97 is rusted. Over the course of two sessions Ive spent hours cleaning and polishing trying to get all of whatever is in there out and its not fully coming.
Picked up a 97 from a member here used. Shoots ok. At 55y I get fliers in all pellets.
Ive cleaned with Ballistol, Hoppes 9, JB Bore Paste, Flitz polish, WD40, a patchworm, cleaning rod, bronze brush, felt pellets and more.
When I went to clean last night the first ballistol patch was super black! Leading me to believe that brown on the patch is rust and its fouling super bad.
Ideas? I did just acquire some Kroil but haven't tried it yet. Maybe plug it somehow and fill it with Kroil and then brush it?
Patches start black, then turn brown. The JB paste turns brown immediately. I ran a scope down it but cant see super clearly can can see where there is brown in the rifling in most of the barrel. Hope its savable.

How to measure scope height?

I’m attempting to set up Chairgun so I can better understand holdovers and close range shooting. I have an impact m3, warne 20 moa cantilever mount and athlon Midas tac 6-24 scope. How can I get an accurate measurement of scope center to bore center?

I’ve read taking 1/2 the objective lense + 1/2 barrel diameter + distance from barrel to scope but didn’t know if anyone else had similar setup that could let me know roughly what that distance would be. Thanks 👍

  • Question
Paying full boat for preorder

Does anyone else have a problem paying the full price of an airgun, on back order, up front? Mind you, I don‘t mind putting down a deposit, up front, which would be forfeited if I canceled the order. But dropping $2200 with an expected delivery date makes me pucker up!

N/A  scope problem turrent wont turn anymore!

So i have come across this problem with two different scopes now. my new Nikko sterling arrived today. i mounted it and whent to zero it in. I ended up maxing the vertical turret out completely but my pellet was still dropping about 2 mill dots too low. (18 yards distance). this cannot be right at all. i think my gun may have a defect with the structure or barrel. last time, i solved it by putting a strip of thing cloth under the rear pillar and remounting the scope so it was slightly tilted downward. but over time it ended up sliding back little by little. Any idea why this is happening and any solutions. Thanks Good day

Airgun Technologies  Uragan 2 177 vs vulcan 3 177

I've been on the fence on the Vulcan 3 .177, there is little to no info on them anywhere I have searched. Only thing I can find about then is that they have a ton of shots in sub12 and FAC and that they shoot well.

I have experience with the Uragan 2 Compact and the 700mm as I have both in .22 but I want one in .177 whether that's the compact or the 600mm doesn't really matter.

Does anyone have any experience to speak on both .177 platforms, more importantly the vulcan 3 .177?

Thanks, Jean-Claude

Air Venturi  Odd size o-ring question

Hi all,
Sorry in advance if this is too long a read, but I'm hoping for some advice...

I've been trying to fix a slow air leak in my Avenge-x .22 and not having much luck so far. I've replaced o-rings on the axle (they were brittle and flattened out) and replaced the dowty seal behind the fill pressure gage (and gently tightened that down). Although not as bad, there is still air escaping somewhere that I can't seem to locate with soapy water or silcone. Even though they look okay, I'll probably try replacing fill probe and air cylinder o-rings next before venturing deep into the receiver to replace 0-rings. For those interested, there are a couple of videos on YouTube by Shooter's den in Pakistan that give a very detailed and closeup view of how to completely tear down the Avenge-X. They're very helpful, especially if you use english translation closed captions!

Anyway, as I've been doing this, it occurred to me that I should probably build up a supply of spare o-rings for future repairs. I could buy a complete reseal kit for around $30-$40, or I could put together an order from a place like O-rings and More and get a lifetime supply at a fraction of the cost. I've ordered from them in the past. It's hard to beat a pack of 25 o-rings for pennies plus nominal shipping. I can also wait for Captain O-ring to start selling an Avenge-X reseal kit - an attractive option because Jon puts together a color coded sheet to go along with the color coded o-rings, making it so much easier to identify o-rings. But Jon tells me that kit is weeks away and I'm sure it'll also be in the $30+ range.

My question has to do with odd or non-standard 0-ring sizes and what to use if I can't get them. For example, nearly all the 0-rings needed for the Avenge-X are standard metric sizes (20 i.d. x 2 c.s., 4 x 1.5, 2.5 x 1.5, etc.) However, there are a few that aren't so standard. I'm referring to both the shematic drawing of the rifle from Pyramyd Air along with a parts list (partially in Chinese) that I found from Nova Vista. On that list, there are 0-rings such as 12.4 x 2.6, 2.4 x 1.8, 20.2 x 3.5, and one that's simply denoted as 10 (#69 on the schematic - any ideas what that is?). I can't find any 0-rings with these dimensions and I'm wondering if I can use the nearest standard size instead. So, for example, instead of 12.4 mm, use 12.5 mm; instead of 20.2 mm, use 20 mm; instead of 1.8 mm, use 2mm. What do you think?

Also, a few of the 0-rings listed do not specify the hardness (Buna 70 or 90). In cases like that, which do you go with?

Thank you for any help you can offer with this!
Mike

Winters' Winds - the ultimate master of the cold pellets fate

Yep, it's cold outside... and it's a blowin too... even howling.
That perfectly zero'd scope held no chance against a 20 mph crosswind; yet it is still a great starting point; at least i thought so.
Took aim (11"x14" splatter burst target only 25 meters out), pull the trigger and the pellet goes......?
Well that sucks.... even if i was sitting in a heated shooting shack.
Head says..."Put the airgun away, back to the coffee and the forum".

Still glad I live in the deep south where i can "usually" shoot year round.... just not today as i don't like donating lead to the winds.

collector, enthusiast, hoarder or just obsessed?

Are you a: collector, enthusiast, hoarder or just obsessed?
or maybe, just maybe you are a perpetual tinkerer who loves a project?

When you read through AGN threads past and present, it becomes quite obvious to me, that people who enjoy airguns, of all types, have more (many more) than just one or two. I also notice that most airgunners are "tight" or frugal. All good.

But, i also notice a strange thing where the frugal (on various threads) bemoan the high cost of airguns while at the same time they have purchased 5-10-15 or even more than 20 low end el cheapo airguns.

That said.... what is a cheap airgun? (relative term to your income and spending habits) V what is an expensive airgun - same basic definition.

I'm scratching my head wondering..... would ya rather save your moolah for 2-4 high quality airguns or would you rather nickel and dime your money away on a bunch of so so stuff? What is your motive(s) behind your multiple airgun acquisitions? some have suggested it is almost an addiction; i might agree.

Before you share your thoughts.... i must mention that some "relatively cheap" airguns can shoot pretty darn well along side some really pricey airguns.

You might wonder what is my definition of a relatively cheap airgun is = $650 break barrel, to $1100 PCP. but that's my definition.

I am reminded that the market = makers of airguns, cater to various income levels to specifically meet certain price points which will maximize their sales.

What are your thoughts?

Boosters

Gettn somewhat frustrated with finding certain info and products involving boosters. I get their not cheap but who cares, I’d shell out the $ to be able to go to the range with several big bores, an scba tank and not have to bring a compressor cuz I’d have a booster. You can’t find one, you can’t buy one, it’s like the industry DOESNT want us to have one. This is what I got in reply from Altoros
