New to PCP

So, finally decided to try a PCP and bought a Hatsan Flash QE. Been trying to get it running for the last two weeks. I have a Four Uncles pump with a QD on the hose, and an Air Venturi adapter for the filling probe on the gun. The QD leaks badly though everything looks ok as far as 'O' rings. I think the tolerances are just too far off for a good seal. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get some pressure in this gun? I'd like to find an adapter that fits the 1/8"BSPP threads on the probe and thread into the filter housing on the hose...get rid of the QD completely. Are the threads on the China manufactured inline filter NPT or 10M*1?

Excerpts From UNITED STATES OF AMERICA v. MICHAEL CROOKER

CAVEAT EMPTOR: I am not an attorney and I am not qualified nor competent to have an opinion on this matter which would serve for any particular purpose.

TL;DR: The Appeals Court ruled that the words "intended" and "for" in the definition of a silencer as a firearm in the NFA was crucial because anything, even a potato, could be used as a silencer.

The pertinent wording from the statute:
18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(3)(C), defined as follows:

The terms “firearm silencer” and “firearm muffler” mean any device for silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a portable firearm, including any combination of parts, designed or redesigned, and intended for use in assembling or fabricating a firearm silencer or firearm muffler, and any part intended only for use in such assembly or fabrication.
NOTE: Emphasis Added,

NOTE: There is a whole lot of text between the above definition and the below finding which you should read carefully...
The misinstruction in this case would justify a new trial, rather than acquittal, if the government had offered evidence that could allow the jury to find beyond a reasonable doubt that Crooker had a purpose to have the device function as firearm silencer. But it had an incentive to develop such evidence-it would have been relevant evidence both of Crooker's knowledge and the device's capabilities (and the judge so instructed the jury)-and even on appeal the government does not claim that it could show illicit purpose. Thus, Crooker is entitled to an acquittal. United States v. Godin, 534 F.3d 51, 61 (1st Cir.2008); see Burks v. United States, 437 U.S. 1 (1977).

Needless to say, Crooker is in the process of doing neither himself nor society any good. His attitude toward shipping chemicals shows an indifference to law, and (quite apart from silencers) even more disturbing is his professed interest as a convicted felon in airguns that could be as powerful as firearms. He deliberately skated close to the edge of the law and took his chances with a prosecution that the government was entitled to attempt. But, given the statute's wording, the answer is not to stretch the present statute beyond its language but to amend it-if the government is so minded-to deal more effectively with home-made or adaptable devices.

The conviction is reversed and the case remanded for the entry of a judgment of acquittal.

It is so ordered.
NOTE: In short, the Court found the statute more constrained when applied to silencers than to automatic weapons because of the ease with which common household items might be adapted for use as silencers and the relative obvious intent when one posses an automatic weapon. You can't accidentally turn a potato into an Uzi. The court felt it pertinent to avoid an over broad interpretation of the definition in the case of a silencer.

OPINION: This case protects the industry more than any other I've been able to find. It is natural for **The Agency Which May Not Be Named** to attempt to enforce the NFA as broadly as they can because this is essentially their charter. The widespread use of devices which can be adapted to illegal use, even though such devices may never have been designed or intended for such use, is naturally seen by them as a threat to their ability to enforce the statute. The airgun industry must POLICE ITSELF with respect to this problem so that we can continue to enjoy the use and proliferation of new capabilities and technology in our sport. Over time these restrictions will become less chafing for both the industry and those who are concerned about loosening their grip over a technology which does not fall under the purview of the statute. Adaptation of a STANDARD FITTING unique to the airgun industry would go a long way towards solving some of these issues because those who would deliberately violate the statute by misusing an airgun device via attaching it to a firearm would have to make a special effort to do that.

Move slowly and calmly but remain steadfast and resolute. Present a unified front if you wish to keep your rights.
DO NOT FEED TROLLS ON FORUMS.
THAT KIND OF BEHAVIOR WILL BE USED TO INFLUENCE LAWMAKERS.

More Pellet Comparisons

Hello everyone,

Received my RAW back yesterday after having it converted from a .22 cal to a .177 cal with a Poly barrel and threaded end. I wanted to get some pellets down the barrel and see what pellets it might like. I shot 13 different pellets with a mixture of various brands and weights. I first zeroed my new scope using the JSB Monster Redesigned 13.43 pellets ( pellet #14 ) and then shot #10 pellet, which I actually shot out of order as shown on the photo. This is not an all conclusive test because I only shot 5 pellets at each target, but it did revel enough information to narrow down to just 5 pellets for a good starting point. Next I will shoot a full magazine of each of the top 5 pellets for a better result. I also found out that this barrel does not like the Hades Diabolo, those shots went all over the target o_O. It has started raining so I am shut down for the rest of this day.

Bullpups vs semi and regular rifles.

I do not like long rifles (above 40 inches) because I feel them bulky and more difficult to handle.

But there is something that we need to recognize, specially when shooting more powerful rifles:

" It is not the same having the action of the hammer 8 inches ahead of the ear than feel and hear it just in to the ear."

So having a bullpup implies a trade off, you gain a more handle rifle but you loose on comfort when shooting.

Strange thing happened on the way to the forum

Dressed up a Diana bandit with some Buck Railaccessories. It was low on air, my Chinese air compressor has a blown O-ring and is spitting oil.
Grabbed my FX hand pump to top it of. All was going well till about 2000 PSI and than pop. The fill probe broke in half in the gun. Never had this happen, not even sure why it happened. Anyone else ever experience this?
Here are some pictures of the Diana bandit carbine. Also a Crosman 2240 with his big can and the threaded adater.
