Hatsan jet 1 .22 Accuracy issues and modifications.

I've had my Jet 1 for about a week now and I really like everything about it...except the accuracy. I can't get it to group to save my life. I might have 2 good shots in a row then 2 flyers in complete different directions. There isn't anywhere on this gun to add a bipod so I modified a barrel band so I could add a foregrip or bipod. Also slapped a 3-9x40 scope on. I had a red dot on before. I also cleaned the barrel last night so hopefully when I go out and shoot this morning I can get some decent groups. 🤞

Is anyone else having these issues? Any solutions? I've seen reviews online of it shooting good so is there a chance I just got a lemon?

Air tank manufactured date & expiration date question

If I understand correctly, the tank was manufactured on March 2013, and it is good for 15 years. Which means the tank expires on March 2028 correct?
I also saw a thread on here that said there is a new DOT regulation could push it to an additional 15 yrs since this is a Carbon fiber tank... That would be cool if 15 yrs is added, it would save me $ from buying a new one in a few years.

One brave bunny

But then you wind up with this situation....$2,000 worth of gun and glass and the darn thing is too close. That yellow thing in the distance is my target. I just couldn't shoot it, only because I knew I'd miss it that close. I kept shooting, it kept eating. Honestly, I just couldn't bring my self to shoot it, until it and it's kin totally mess up my lawn then it's dead bunny time.

SOLD Hawke Sidewinder 3-12 x 50 scope

I am selling a well taken care of Hawke Sidewinder 3-12 x 50 illuminated reticle scope with original box and paper. Only thing I don't have is the focus wheel. While the wheel is not necessary in order to focus...but nice for field target ranging . I am sure an aftermarket wheel can be found. (I have another Hawke and I purchased an after market focus wheel for it. I am original owner. Very minor scuffing where rings were attached. A very nice scope and would be a great evening scope for predators. Half Mil dot reticle(10x tactical) $375 free shipping to lower 48 only

Oversized suppressor...? Would this work?

Before I spend a lot of time on STL files and design and so on, I have this idea of making an oversized suppressor. I know that practical use scenarios prevent suppressors from being a certain size, but if I didn't care about interfering with the scope or looking silly, and would just raise the scope with adaptors, is there a reason a very large suppressor wouldn't work much better than the commercial options out there? I'm looking to make one or two backyard shots a month (a particular nuisance varmint that visits sometimes) but eliminating as much of the sound as possible, (no matter the cost or inconvenience) is super important. My airgun and pellet combo leave me tons of power to spare. Is there any reason a much larger suppressor wouldn't make a much bigger difference? Part of me feels like if this were the case, there's be at least a few designs out there kicking around, but in the past year of looking each time it came to mind, I never noticed any.

Any input on the idea from experienced users would be very much appreciated.

An observation on some rail height comments

I see people make comments on...how much better it is when the rail (Picatinny/Weaver) is closer to the barrel bore centerline. The scope can be much better aligned to the barrel........

BUT...then everyone that I can remember seeing in photographs...has...TALL scope rings used !!! So the scope Center Line ends up right back where it would be with a higher rail, or at least within about .06" or maybe .09" .
OK...yeah...it's adjustable, heightwise. Makes no difference, when the scope ends up mounted in the nosebleed section anyway, to be...usable !

Just a funny observation.

Finally got the sucker

For at least 10 days now, I could not go out on my deck in the early morning or late evening without hearing a squirrel eating a pecan. Must have been picking up older ones on the ground that nothing wanted before that fell on the ditch side of the road. Only time I ever saw him was looking with my thermal scope and walking all over the place, small little sucker. Of course by the time I saw him, he saw me and dissapeared post haste. Not that I could have done anything anyway, thermal was on a large caliber centerfire PB, I just wanted to know where he was hiding all the time. Seems he always was hiding on the road side of my oldest pecan tree, and when I moved to a point to see other side of the tree he would instantly run. He made a mistake this evening, finally. I was on the deck smoking, and knocked a block of wood off the railing accidentally, clanked off the steps. Made the little bugger curious and I saw his head and half his body look over a V between two large branches. Uragan was just laying on top of the grill waiting for him to be stupid. Had to shoot through an old web that had a few dried leaves stuck in it, pulled the trigger and there wasn't a deep thud or a crack, but something between the two sounds. I actually never heard that sound shooting a squirrel before. Turns out shooting one in his breast plate straight on makes that sound. He fairly quickly went up a limb 6 feet and I just knew I made a bad shot based on nothing but a sound I never heard before. I fumbled turning down the mag on the scope, I had it on 16x to see through the dirty spider web at no more than 13 yards. Looked up and he was coming back the way he went up the limb, looking perfectly healthy, he stopped a second and I was quickly settling the crosshairs when he just fell like a rock, pure dead weight falling. Probably the smallest and skinniest squirrel I ever saw other than baby squirrels, I swear he is skinnier than the dead one still stuck up in a tree that is fully dehydrated after staying stuck there since November. I can't believe it hasn't rotted and fallen yet. I've had lots and lots of 70 degree days and mid 50's nights since then, and he won't rot away. Wish it was warm like that now, blower motor in my HVAC air handler locked up yesterday morning, sitting here in long sleeves, jacket, sweats, and wool socks. Seems electric motors, like a lot of other stuff these days, is in short supply, company said it may take several days to get a replacement in, they didn't have one in stock that would fit and no HVAC business around would even bother checking, only way they would give up one if they had in stock would be for one of their customers.

Can a high end scope help make up for lack of experience and skill when hunting pest animals?

I'm sort of new to hunting pests, where hitting your target where you want to is really important. Not only did I get a gun with great accuracy, I ordered the match grade pellets. Of course I'm doing research and also practicing, but I'm still wondering if a very high end scope is just nicer to use, or if it would make up for a lack of skill and experience and help with accuracy?

Compressor Price vs Performance

I think the best bang for the buck will be the Coltri MCH6 compressor. I don't want to buy a Yong Heng every year and I refuse to rebuild them. The Alkin is obviously the Rolls Royce but the Coltri seems to offer so much dollar for dollar. Especially at their current "close-out" price.

Going the other way… Atomic XR #2

My PCP journey started with a Gamo Urban and a hand-pump. My second PCP was a Brocock Compatto . Both guns were astounding to me in what I could do with them. But I got tired of pumping them both and purchased an SCBA along with a Stickman adapter. Then the true cost of traveling to get that SCBA filled? Led me to a HPA compressor and then a bottle gun, a Bantam Sniper HR. This quickly became a costly, slippery slope… I got into Airguns to shoot inexpensively, what happened? Enter the Atomic XR in March 2022 and it blows my mind. 17 FPE of outsized power, in a small, light package, it is a pleasure to handle this little beastie. Hundreds of pests down, tons of plinking, great groups out to 50 yards with CPHPs. The Atomic XR has proven itself to me over and over again. That it is so easily pumped by hand? A big plus, no compressors or bottles needed. Since its arrival all my other Airguns just sit. So I’m back to square one. My Compatto and Bantam Sniper HR are on their way to AOA. They have been traded in for an Atomic XR “We the Plinkers” package. My two Atomic XR should keep me satisfied for the long run. It feels good to not be dependent on my HPA compressor or, SCBAs. Yes, I will continue to use my compressor. But when it finally dies, and can’t be rebuilt? I’ll just continue hand pumping as long as I can. I use my Atomic XR as if bow hunting, I get close. Small game and pests, sub 50 yards in good conditions are toast. I came to PCPs because more “power” (.22 rimfire) meant “less” shooting opportunities. Then the same thing happened in my situations with 30 FPE PCPs, too powerful, even at the lowest TP setting to use inside buildings or around livestock and equipment. We all use Airguns as we will, this is my journey. Did I happen to mention I really love my Atomic XR?

P.S. The Compatto and Bantam Sniper also had hundreds of kills on rats and starlings. Both fine guns, I just want smaller and lighter as I age.

New case

Got a deal on a new case, so even if it is a tight fit for my Vulcan 3 at least, i still pulled the trigger on it.
The brand are Negrini and look very familiar beside the case for my maverick.

IMG_20230207_171243.jpg

The tight fit dont bother me so much, its better than the soft bag i have the maverick in now as it outgrew its original case, also just need transport to and from my car, so that should do just fine.

Now i just need my maverick back from repairs where it have been for 2 months now.
A bit long if you ask me for something so simple as a broken cocking handle, but hey Sweden are also just the next country over from here, or in layman's terms 173 stone throws away.
