How many HW50 owners didn't like the OEM shot cycle?

How many owners of HW50's didn't like the OEM shot cycle and elected to:

1. Replace the OEM spring/guide with an aftermarket kit?

2. Clip, close and polish the factory spring ends instead of installing a kit?

How many left their HW50 alone (OEM)?

I know a kit improves the shot cycle, but was the shot cycle with OEM parts really that unpleasant?

I talked a friend in his late 70's out of a box store gun/scope combo and into letting me order him a new 50S and Hawke Airmax scope. Now I feel guilty I spent six hundred of his dollars. I want him to be really, really happy and am considering ordering an ARH kit now and secretly installing it in the gun before handing it over to him.

How many here think I should?

Does this unscrew?!?! Western Rattler [SOLVED]

Disassembling my Rattler .357

I’ve unscrewed the barrel, removed the shroud, and removed the shell around the LDC.

I want to clean and scope the barrel and then polish if necessary.

My question- I tried unscrewing and it didn’t budge slightly. Before I try cranking down I’d like to ask… Does the barrel unscrew from the LDC double threaded segment segment? (Also appears there’s a bluish substance around what looks like threading…?)

Bonus question-

Does this knurled cap unscrew from the cylinder. I assumed it does but it feels super solid

I’m concerned I’m gonna break something and given the price of a Rattler… I’d like to avoid it.

As always, AGN thank you for your advice!

177 RTI Prophet 2 help.

Just received my 177 Prophet 2 today from Talon Tunes. Thx Tony! Came with the reg set at 150 bar. At that setting will push a 13gr JSB to only 850fps and a 10gr to 915fps. I increased the reg to 170bar and only 885ish with a 13gr ZAN. Seems not alot of speed with such a high reg pressure. Is this normal? I purchased this rifle to shoot 177 slugs as the new valve was supposed to put out big power with lower reg pressures. The Priest 2 I had would easily push a 13gr slug into the mid 900's with a lower reg pressure. Not sure if there's a problem with the gun or this is normal??? Any info would help.
Thx!

Basic (Delta / Alpha Wolf) Tuning Concepts...

A simple video for guys that are new to the delta wolf / Alpha wolf programming. It was confusing to me at first well I think I am closer with kind of step by step process of tuning this beast. So I know this is not 100% accurate but to put it in a rough box to get some basic foundations to a tune without going crazy.

Air-Arms Pro Elite 22

Hi all. I am looking for information in order to sell some air rifles that belong to my father. He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and isn’t able to give me any information about them or values. One of them I am looking to value and sell is an Air-Arms Pro Elite with a scope. Husband believes it is walnut stock. Not finding much about it online. Anyone familiar with the brand and today’s market value? TIA.

Considerations for used PCP

So looking for advice in asking questions for buying a used PCP. I'd like to get into the sport and get a used PCP Air rifle for plinking in the back yard. What sorts of questions should I be thinking about when looking for a used PCP Air Rifle?

Can you respond with a list of questions or considerations that one should consider? I'll update the main post so that anyone else in the same boat can see.

SOLD [SOLD] OldSpook Carbon Fiber / 3D Printed LDC Moderator 0.25 - 0.22 Caliber 1/2 UNF x 20 Threads

Hello AGN:

I am looking to sell an OldSpook 3D Printed LDC / Moderator w/ Carbon Fiber Shell w/ 1/2 UNF x 20 threads. This moderator has a 0.25 caliber opening so it will work for all calibers smaller than 0.25 (including 0.22 and 0.177). This is a great looking mod with the carbon fiber finish and it works very well for it's small (4 1/2" x 1 1/8") size! Price is $85 shipped.

I've got plenty of positive feedback here so please feel free to check them on the Member Feedback forum prior to purchasing. Paypal Friends & Family payment is prefered (otherwise, please add 3.5% to cover the fees). Local pickup in the SF Bay Area is available as well.

Thanks!

My new Challenge Target

Compliments of @ThomasT , I've got a new personal challenge for basement winter fun. This is my first serious attempt at 6 yards with my HW44 177 cal. I'm shooting H&N Baracuda FT 9.57 gn (new line of pellets) which rumor has it were developed for the Luther Walther barrel and perhaps the Weihrach specifically. Who knows, but they are precision pellets out of the pistol.

We are expecting.....

Not what you think. My new Yong Heng compressor should be arriving in a few hours. All things being equal, and if the Amazon driver can make it
up our driveway. Still have a lot of ice out there. The Road grader just passed by and you cannot tell it was there. Not good.

Enough prattle. My question. What videos can you recommend for set up? I have noticed that almost everyone who gets one, recommends watching a video because
the instructions are somewhat lacking in detail.
If you were setting one up all over again, what would you do different? I have a small mud room just inside the back door, which is adjacent to the shooting bench. It has
a nice cement floor, plenty of artificial light, lots of power outlets, and is far enough away the remainder of the house as not to bother.
What else.
Don't forget the video recommends, I need something to do while I wait.

Thanks gang!

  • Question
crown 30

hi guys, im currently shoting an fx crown .30 in a sabre tac chassis with a 600 barrel and im loving it shooting the 44.75 jsb round about 889 and achieving some absolutely great results with my best group being around .82 moa at 100 meters (not yards)

but seeing as where i live my entire area is open and not too far from a lake i usually get severe winds around here (50 mp/h and up)

so for me to be able to shoot more and have less days where is just straight up cant shoot because of this wind im thinking to change to slugs, however i almost cant find anything online when it comes to a crown 30 cal and slugs. so my question what would most likely be a reasonable result changing to slugs? tuning wise. wich slug. wich grains especially

I'm kind of looking to go preferably up in velocity to 950 or so (if possible) any ideas anyone?

FX Superior liners - are they done right?

Hi,

Please take a look at the leading marks of these liners:

IMG_20221027_210133~3.jpg
IMG_20221025_181056~2.jpg

It is evident there are no lands at the very end of the bore (EDIT: muzzle end, crown). I checked a couple of liners in multiple calibers and they are all like that. I think it may be dictated by the production process of making the rifling from the outside. They can't make the rifling to the very end because it would make a constriction there as there is no more material at the very end of the barrel - the material is from one side only so the steel would react in a different way there. However, there is no problem to remove the very end of the choke using a lathe and recrown. It is more expensive in production but can it help with precision?

If you exaggerate that the liner is like here:

What's your opinion on that?

Thanks!

Note about my "new" Krait

New Krait (.22), to me as of Saturday (01-28) morning

This evening is four days since it was last shot by me...no change in the regulator pressure. At least as far as the tiny gauge is concerned ! Still pointing to 90bar.

Although as noted in another post, the regulator gauge needle was almost pointing to 100 (bar), as received in the mail. I "assume" that the Utah AirGuns guys did shoot it as they advertise, and it was in the mail...four days, so I really don't understand that difference. Unless it was a longer period of time since it was shot last, vs. being mailed out to me.
So, at this point, it "appears" that my gun isn't leaking, or is a much longer period of time...to leak..

Will do some chronograph testing tomorrow. Will watch the first, second and third shot speeds.
Will also put a digital gauge on it to get a better idea of the actual pressure in the rear position.

Happy with it so far.

Mike
