Day one is in the books and we were blessed to have nice (but warm and humid) weather. There was some great shooting given the dark lanes and overall level of difficulty.

At the request of @EPG I am sharing my drawings for a Shooting Table / Benchrest that I designed several years ago. Please note this is not a “Set of all inclusive plans”, but instead they are the plans that I drew for me to use to construct my Bench. A few changes are noted and a basic bill of material is included, but screws, bolts, top material, etc. are not denoted. I believe most questions can be answered from my own construction photos attached, if not please let me know.

What’s the best source for GOOD hex/Allen keys/wrenches? Most are undersized especially in the smaller sizes causing stripping of heads. I’ve heard that MIP/Moores Ideal Products are good but expensive. Any others to recommend?

Any body have experience with this brand of rifle. Air gun Depot have them ,they are maid in Spain they make an under lever I’m curious about ,it’s the Norica Dream Hunter

Warning, do not try this at home, I am a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.

Had my Maverick .22 Compact on my 'shooting bench' i.e. my patio table, thought I'd do something brilliant and put my umbrella into the table, table shook a little and down went the gun, call it a drop test. 30" give or take. Landed on the barrel then the scope. I shall not repeat what I said but you can guess. Checked the scope, no apparent damage but who knows, went to insert a mag and....NOT HAPPENING. Upon further inspection the barrel pushed back agains the piece that locates the barrel for proper depth and bent out the aluminum about .006", it also wedged the barrel, so loosened up the set screws, took a piece of wood and a soft hammer and gently tapped the barrel out then pulled it out. Took a fine file and started removing material to get the mag in. THEN used the mag as a depth gage and reset the barrel. Test firing, pellets went exactly were they were suppose to at 30 yards.

Results of the destructive testing, and I'll leave it to the engineers to calculate the forces involved but, the barrel didn't bend and the Arken doesn't doesn't appear to be worse for the impact test.

Next will be, do I live with it or see if the FX warranty will cover stupidity.

addendum, those expensive wide stance bi-pods aren't stable enough.

addendum 2 It seems that the delicacy of the barrels of FX airguns is vastly overstated.

Beyond blessed to be the caretaker of this one.
Super comfortable with a terrific 12 FPE shot cycle. So far just into a trap in the garage. Can't wait to get a scope in it and actually shoot.

After installing a Williams FP-AG-TK rear diopter sight on my HW30S today I removed the Weihrauch factory rear sight. I'd like to install a cover of some sort to cover the exposed screw holes from the sight, does anyone have any leads on such a device? Thanks in advance!

For sale is an FX Impact M3 compact in .30 caliber with power plenum and block. Gun is in excellent to like new condition. Comes with 2 magazines, factory hard case and a number of Griffith 37 grain LDC slugs. These are very accurate and shoot about 980 fps as it's currently tuned. They pack a wallop!! $1500 firm.

Ok, mainly just some thoughts for now. I'm looking for some experience/input on a PCP rifle.

Firstly, I haven't owned a PCP rifle and have only shot springers.

I recently purchased a HW90 for hunting use and to be honest I think it's a pretty potent gun from what I've seen so far.
I do find it a bit heavy and not really suitable for use with the irons.

I let a neighbour shoot it a little and he's falling in love with it and has asked a couple times to sell it to him.
Not really sure if I want to part with it (Actually I don't want to at all-lol) although I am wondering if I might make better use of a PCP at times?

Looked at the HW100 Sporter carbine in 22 and an Ataman BP17 in 22 cal online. I like the idea of the Ataman. Both appear to me to be similar in fpe and fps to the hw90?

Anyone have any experience with either? Looking to keep a PCP rifle 8lbs or less and under the length of an 8' 2x4.....basically compact overall that is.

Shot count is very important to some shooters. But can be an overstated and overrated criteria. Because there are other attributes that trump it. Depends on what “an individual” is doing with their airgun. For instance, a 30 shot count PCP in a high intensity pesting environment? Subjective? You bet! But even if you go 75% on kills? Heck, even 50%, that’s 15 kills. The majority of air gunners would be lucky to do half that. If target shooting competitively? You have fill sources near by… I used to overly worry about shot count. Now? I just simply shoot and refill when necessary. The only hardship is to the pests. Now take the above and apply it to a scenario where you’re after a game species? You have more than enough shots. Because game bag limits are way below any shot counts. For plinking? All bets are off. Then we just want to “shoot and keep shooting”. Overall a fun, first world problem to have… Thoughts…?

Thursday late evening the wind died down enugh i set up 100 rack and sighted in , yesterday gale force no shooting,. This morning before the sun broke over the horizon it was still so checked my work..

R9 , cphp .177, 100y,. Stock irons. Rested on o"lsock and a block.

I assume that the Walther Reign M2 is limited to 12 ft/Lbs in Great Britain. Krale has a few available in .177 but they list the energy as much higher. I'm tempted to buy the M2 in .177 even though I would prefer it in .22 cal . I could live with the 12 ft/lb rifle since I will only be punching paper at 25 yards with it. Anyone know if the gun would ship to California at the lower power rating and if a Donny FL moderator can be installed on this gun?

How come more people in US aren't into small game eradication hunt (rats etc).



I think there's nothing wrong with prestigious big game hunting, for instance getting a deer or a moose or something like that. Hunting feral hogs looks great. However with all of this you could spend one day or several days and only get one kill.

Also the logistics in doing something like moving pigs would require a lot of physical labor ATV's and things of that nature.



I think it would be much funnier to hunt rats pigeons or iguanas

Maybe it's just me but shooting 100 rats would be more fun to me than shooting one large animal.

In the US it doesn't seem like it's as popular as in Europe or in England. It seems like in Europe and England they're huge on rat hunting probably because of gun restrictions. Just like to get people's thoughts.

on another note if you're in the New England area I'm looking for people to do eradication hunting with.

Just received my new Crosman 2300T today and after looking it over I attempted to mount the supplied rear sight. No go! They, believe it or not, supplied it with the wrong size Allen wrench Called Crosman and they are to send me a correct one next week. Any one else have the same bad luck? Anyway this is my second bad luck with new Crosman pistols this week. The first bad one I received this week was a new 2240XL that leaked quickly. Hopefully the replacement will be better. Charles

The previous owner marketed this gun as "Travis's personal Max Air from JSAR" and "pristine safe queen". I can’t confirm, but it is in great condition with only a couple of very minor blemishes in the wood.

It groups JSB 18.1s and old domed Premiers under 1" at 50 yards pretty consistently and will occasionally do 1/2". It cycles reliably and holds air. Very quiet with the included 3D printed moderator. I haven't recorded a complete shot string but it seems to shoot forever on a fill and I have no reason to doubt the claim of 80 shots per fill.

It's a fun gun but I mostly shoot paper at distance and that's not the point of this gun. Comes with 2 magazines and fill probe. $600 for gun and moderator shipped CONUS, PayPal plus fees or F&F. Scope and rings for another $40 – with purchase of gun only. Bipod not included.
