Best day at the range yet

Ever have a day without problems? I have but generally I fix one thing then begin to work on another till time runs out. Today I had a couple hours to go to the range and make sure everything is ready for tomorrow’s field target competition.Part of that is to try out the range.
I shot the whole four lanes course and the full sight in course out to 55 yards. I missed one 55 yard shot because I used the wrong crosshairs for the hold over. That’s was it. Go home.

I have never .

Quality pellet prices (vs .22LR rimfire)

I'm new to air gunning (not counting kid stuff) and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my big Pyramyd Air order. I've been a long-time firearms enthusiast with a pretty decent collection.

Not a complaint but a bit surprised that quality .22 pellets cost the same as .22LR ammunition. Let's say an average of 5 - 6 cents per round.

Again, not complaining but a bit surprised.

The cost of a decent rifle in both categories is also comparable. Actually, my Benjamin Marauder cost more than any of my multiple .22LR rifles. Wait.... except one... my Browning BL-22 Grade 2 cost a tiny bit more than my Marauder. Less than $100 difference. But all my other .22LR rifles cost less than the Marauder.

And if I factor in the additional cost of a fill tank (and paying for the fills), air gunning costs more. If I add the cost of a compressor.... even more.

Ah.... but I don't care! I definitely didn't decide to get into air gunning to save money! That ship has LONG since sailed! LOL

I can't wait for my new Marauder regulated .22 rig! But I just made these observations. :)

  • Question
What are some over sized .25 pellets? For loose bore .25

I have a hatsan 125 in .25 with a over sized bore. My tuner says it's losing velocity because of how wide the barrel hole is. Do you have any pellet recommendations for this. I want a wider diameter skirt not the head. Hatsan will not replace the barrel. Apparently this is a big issue with hatsans. I've had the gun for 4 years and I like it. Just looking for some ammo to get full potential of power and accuracy with the gun. It's accurate it's just losing about 80fps because of the bore diameter. domed and pointed pellets are my ideal type of pellet but I won't be picky if someone can provide a good pellet.

  • Question
Vevor air compressor

I purchased a VEVOR air compressor exactly two years ago, have used it twice. I went to use it the other day. I attached it to my gun, Made sure the bleeder was closed. I turned it on, let it warm up, then turned on the compressor, in about 15 seconds everything shut down. Has not started since. Any thoughts of what it might be?

Fastest Pellet Sorter in the Works

Sorting 22cal pellets.

The LCD display shows the weight followed by the Bin # and the pellet count for that bin.

"Typical Weight" and "Tolerance" can also be seen. Both are user inputs and the test limits are generated from these 2 parameters.

Pellets are actually being sorted into bins, based on the measured weight (in grains).

At this speed the output can be up to about 4k pellets per hour.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Airgun Technology Uragan 3 Compact .22 $1550 TYD

Selling my U3 Compact .22. Just purchased two more airguns this week and something has to go. Tuned for 15.9 AEA Center Punch pellets in the 880-890 range for 5 mags (60 shots) plus a few more. Loves the AEA 15.9. JSB 18.13’s around 860. The JSB 15.89 chrony numbers were taken before I backed off the hammer spring. It was waisting a lot of air. And it was also before I discovered the AEA pellets. But the SD is still the same. I did not do anything with the regulator so the gun has never been opened up. Also, below is a 50yd bench rest shot card with the AEA 15.9’s. Probably around 200 total pellets through it. Feb 2025 time of purchase. I will probably regret this but bills have to be paid. It will come as it did from Talon Airguns plus an extra magazine (3 total) and everything else from the factory in the same packaging it came in from TA. Buy with confidence. See my perfect feedback. Thanks for looking!
**Bipod not included**

**$1550 Firm TYD**

EDIT: 7/24/25
If it doesn’t sell at this price through the next renewal, (8/7) I will just keep it.

Taipan  Veteran II 25 long

So I grabbed a used Veteran II 25 long and have searched a few threads, but not much has come up. What are people shooting in these rifles? I noticed tightening the moderator changes POI.....Anybody have data on slugs it likes.

I cleaned the barrel and took it out to 50 yards with the AEA 33.9 and it did pretty good.

Any help will be appreciated.

Tony P.

0.216, 0.217, 0.218?

Are any of you finding a significant difference in accuracy and/or velocity with the differing sizes of the same weight slugs? And do any of the pellets come in these variationsI Considering the price of slugs, it can become costly to do a comparison. With respect to hunting, what size groups and at what distance(s) are you looking for?

Optics  NLA Athlon Cronus BTR Gen2 4.5-29x56 MOA- Like New- SOLD

Up for grabs is this near new Athlon Cronus BTR Gen2 4.5-29 x56 FFP with 34mm tube . I purchased it from Cameraland just over a year ago and installed it on my Vudoo 360 to do some 200 and 300 yd shooting. It's been to the shooting bench maybe 6-8 times max. Never used in PRS or such. It was always stored in a padded case and babied. ( I had never paid north of $1300 on a scope before this one so it was handled like it was gold ;-)) Nothing wrong with it at all. I Really nice Japanese quality. I'm just repurposing the rifle to use for BR and switching to Second Focal plane . I've got the original box and such. It also comes with the hard to find ( and correct black color matched $80) sun shade. Otherwise, it's like this: https://cameralandny.com/shop/athlo...r5-ffp-ir-moa-uhd-210113/1b13d570-2203-0139-abb9-00163e90e196?variation=2891635

Umarex  THE ZELOS IS AMAZING

The New Zelos in .22 cal Arrived it's such an amazing rifle. I set the reg to 2,500 , and filled it up to 3,625 I used the 28 grain HP slugs from Hatsan there APOLO line , and got 20 regulated shots with the Chrony reading between 893.2 to 893.8.
The ZELOS is very small , and would not fit my shooting rest , so I had to shoulder the stock , and use the front part of the rest. I attached a new Spina 6 x 36 x 56 30 mm tube scope the center of the retical is a circle I really like it. The ZELOS really loves these 28 grain slugs they are very accurate. Sighting in the scope was fun , and the last 6 shots I made sharpie dots about twice the size of the slugs. I was very wobbly holding the rifle to shoulder , but got off a few good ones anyway. It was just 45 feet to target , but that is all the bigger my back yard is.😆OV.

N/A  First PCP Filling

First PCP walter ap20 pro. I was told the RovAir 4500 compressor would have the correct adapter to fill the tank. I have the air gun but the compressor hasn't arrived yet.

I was expecting the air gun would come with a male quick disconnect. But it came with something else.

Am I going to need to order another part to use the rovair to fill this? If so, what is it?

Thank you.

Airgun Technologies  Vulcan 2 .177 - Perfect no hassle slugger

I’ll admit, I’m not a “slug guy “, nor do I chase extreme FPE. I use my rifles weekly for work and the criteria they must meet are accurate from 10 yards out to 75 yards and reliable. I’ve been using a Leyla .25 for all of that work up until now, but some of the areas I shoot in, it was just too much FPE. The other issue I was running into was shot count. Some days 4 mags worth would be sufficient, and others it wasn’t even close.

All of this lead me to going down the .177 rabbit hole. Criteria was no different, but this time i wanted 20 FPE or under. I knew that those light of pellets tend to drift at longer distances , so that pushed me the slug route. I’ve been the slug route before and failed miserably, but this time, I got super lucky.

This little rifle will eat numerous slugs, but the most accurate with the knockouts @ 10gr, followed closely by the 13gr ko’s. I’m running the 10gr at 885 with amazing results. What’s even better , no need for barrel cleaning until 700 or so slugs have been pushed through her, and even then, accuracy just barely falls off.

In my line of work, pass throughs must be kept to a minimum and with this setup, it just doesn’t happen, the 10gr ko’s act like a grenade inside quarry. Shot count is through the roof as well. With this tune , I’m getting around 135 usable shots.

If there is a downside, these rifles are hard to find. Just a handful imported into the states and of those that got lucky enough to get one, they don’t let go of them. Bright side, plenty of parts available and can be had rather easily through AGT.

In short, this little guy is the most hassle free, accurate, well built rifle I’ve ever owned (I’ve owned an absolute ton of rifles). Zero need to push it hard and break things. Set it for normal speeds/power and grab some KO’s at 10gr, 13gr or both and enjoy one of the best low FPE sluggers out there. As you can tell by the pic, I gave up a little length switching over from the Leyla, but the V2 is much more suited for my work. Videos might take a bit to load, but they are at 40 and 75 yards. At 25, literally one hole.

Crosman PHP 14.3 gr .22 with a few .177 in the tin

I received a tin of Crosman Premier HP. 22 14.3 gr pellets that contained ~30 .177 pellets which appeared to be .177 CP domed 10.5 gr. As I used more tins, I will keep checking to see if that is the only tin.

It is amusing and interesting because the package appeared to be completely normal.

I am wondering how that could happen? This is an interesting & intriguing experience and not a complaint. I have shot more than 50,000 CPHP pellets in the last 2-1/2 years and am pleased with them.

Has anyone understanding of the manufacturing and or packaging that could offer an explanation?

I have learned that trying to pass the information to Crosman, via Amazon is not productive. Amazon does not have a formal process, it seems, to convey not complaint information back down their supply chain. They wanted to credit me for the shipment and I had great difficulty in disuading them from crediting me despite that the product was just fine. Being honest is often more trouble than going along, it seems.

  • Question
Huma air contact

I contacted Huma through their website contact option, and they reply by email requesting some picture. So I hit replay on that email that I got from them, attached the pictures and sent them. However haven’t received an answer back yet. I did replayed a second time to that same email, in case the first one did not go thru, and nothing. So I was wondering if that email you get after contacting them thru the website can be replayed to… or do they have another email that has to be used that am unaware of? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I’m thinking about putting a scope or red dot on my HW45 and HW75

I’d be interested in hearing about your success stories and failures. I have a set of Beeman fully adjustable rings with the pins that I think will work for one. They have an oddball dovetail size and don’t know where to source a set of rings for the other. Maybe a Fastfire would be a better idea. I don’t know. I have a couple Leupold 2x pistol scopes here that I’m not using so that would be the least expensive option.

PCP Rifle  WTS Walnut Streamline .25

I am looking to sell my backup competition rifle , a walnut FX streamline .25 caliber. It is huma regulated, and heavily modded to get high power. This gun has been upgraded by Chuck and myself and will shoot sub moa with JSB 34 grain pellets. This gun has been harmonically tuned as well as tune to shoot the 34 grain pellets at around 900 FPS. This gun also allows for higher power to be shot as well. We did get this gun up to 82-84 foot pounds with the same pellets, but we lowered the power back down for best accuracy at 100 yards. Chuck upgraded this gun to except 300 bar fills, but I personally only go to about 280 bar. I can send pics if anyone’s interested. I just have to go snap some photos as this gun is sitting in my storage unit.

I am asking $600 plus shipping for a perfectly tuned rifle. No optics are included.
