Hello everyone!

Currently im looking at making the switch to air riles. Ive narrowed it down to these two rifles. Ive spent about 4 hour or more of research of the pro's and con's of both. Before I make my decision I would like to hear opinions too. I will be bench-rest shooting in 22 cal.

Pellets - what would you do different when first buying pellets?

Advice for the new/newer PCPers . . .
When I got started in December '22 I spent several hundred dollars spent on pellets that are hardly worth shooting now, IMO. If I had it to do over again, I would follow the advice of the experienced shooters on the forum and stick to the brands and weights (caliber specific) of pellets that have proven to be the most accurate in most guns, instead of trying to re-invent the wheel and load up on every tom, dick and harry brand and weight, thinking I am going to eventually discover the holy grail! Save your money for more important things.

Any other opinions?

Optics  SOLD Sightmark 4k MAX w/Sniper Hog Lights IR FS or trade (FC4,Labradar, Nexus, .22 compact setup)

I am valuing trade value at $800 dollars.

Open to anything airgun, regular scope, an AGM Neith , a compact .22 air rifle setup, accutac FC4 bipod plus cash. Just offer up

Cash sale value is $700 Shipped

I am switching over to a different optic for a different purpose, not because this optic is inferior in any way. This has been used a total of 2 times in the field with no marks, no signs, no wear marks from field use. My stuff is always cared for.

Sightmark Wraith 4k MAX

  • Crystal-clear 4K digital imaging
  • 300-yard detection range
  • Night vision mode
  • Daytime color mode

  • 3-24x magnification
  • Detachable 850nm IR LED illuminator
  • Built-in video recording
  • 10 reticle options in 9 colors
  • Up to 8-hour run time on an internal rechargeable battery

It also comes with a Sniper Hog Lights 38LRX fully loaded IR kit

    1st LED X Module color: IR 940nm

    2 extra 18650 batteries: 2 extra 18650 batteries ($20.00)
    Wired slide dimmer switch($14.00)

This IR is extremely powerful, each time I used it, I could not figure out max visibility as none of my permissions had that kind of range but boy is this an improvement over the stock IR system.

Right now if you were to buy this Night Vision scope new you would be looking at $699.99 , the sniper hog lights IR kit runs $255.00
Almost $1000.00 plus freight and tax.

My feedback is impeccable, deal with confidence.

Best rifle around $300-400 for hunting squirrels and rabbits?

I've heard about the Weihrauch HW50S and Gamo Urban, but I'm not sure if these are the only options. I'd want something somewhat quiet but effective. Also, what's the best type of air rifle for hunting (i.e. PCP or break barrel)? Sorry, I'm completely new to this type of stuff.

PR5 ULTRA Stiff Rail for FX Panthera

This is by far the stiffest rail for the Panthera on the market.

Check out our webpage for the full rundown!

First things, this is specifically designed for PRS/NRL style shooting. This isn't a rail that will cover everything. ie bottles and whatnot and everyone's niche desires. This is designed to be the most rigid PRS competition oriented rail.

Bridges will be available soon separately. Furthermore, a barricade stop replacement with integrated ARCA will be coming out soon for it as well. This is a good option for those shooting off tripods.

For AGN members, get an extra 5% off the pre order price with promo code AGN at checkout. This will only be active during pre-order time between now and the 24th of June.

Was going to go down to only 2 airguns but .........

I've been shooting pre-charged (old huh) since the 'late 80's but simply dont shoot much these day's and no one to leave then to so might as well sell most. Right?
So randomly said "I'll just keep 2" well plus the sentimental ones. Well and .............. . Maybe now that they are "pcp's" they are addictive? Still plan on listing a dozen or so "local" as shipping is nut's. Really. No really.

Just reading someone post in pistols to try to help I glanced at Dennis's page for his ".410 Camp pistol" and he had the day before listed .45's & .58 available. While looking mentioned it to the wife and (knowing I was "selling") she said "Oh you NEED one of those"! We all know the Wife is always right. She did enjoy the old .458 LA Outlaw rifle we had.

Such a pleasure to deal with the Quackenbush family. And today my new .45 arrived. Yesterday some NSA .452 ammo arrived. What a fun day! Now I am still selling most but no set number. Just keeping the all out fun rigs' Yah that will do it. Anyone know where the find a Shark pump action? Oh my.
Only fired 4 shots, no scope just pointing 3" group at 25 yards off hand. FUN! Thinking a cheap crosman stock, short range so any scope and hey honest I can quit anytime I want.

Good ol' USPS...I can't help but laugh...

For those of you guys that like to complain about the USPS, UPS and FedEX, here's a comical tracking history for you. I bought a pickleball paddle from a guy in PA almost two weeks ago. Seller sent the package out on June 4th by 2 day Priority Mail and it was supposed to be delivered by June 6th or 7th. Look at that tracking history so far:

usps2.jpg

Yup, that's right...they got it out to the San Jose distribution center 5 miles from my house, then sent it back to PA. Then resent it all the way back out to SJ...only to return it back to PA AGAIN today! Latest status is that it just left the PA distribution center and is presumably on its way back to SJ again for the THIRD time!

Friggin' unbelievable - good thing it's a $200 paddle and not a $2000 rifle. If this thing shows up at all, it'll probably be in 4 pieces. This is so ludicrous that I can't do anything but laugh out loud. SMH...

Easiest way to tell the difference between FX rifles

Maybe it's a futile question but is there a way besides visual inspection or calling FX themselves? I had a Mk2 wildcat for years before I discovered it actually has a liner barrel and a newer style cylinder shaped reg as used on the mk3s. I assumed it had a non liner barrel and a reg with a nut on the end.:D
So I wanted to shoot slugs and decided on a longer barrel mk3 wildcat. I was just researching humas website and according to what they say it turns out I may have a "maverick style reg" or a gen 2 cylinder style. Also does my gun have two regs or just one. I'm guessing only one but I've assumed stuff before:p... I guess the good thing about FX is that they're always changing and the bad thing about FX is that they're always changing... It just seems kinda endless...

Cheap vs. Expensive

Thought I would take advantage of little wind after work today and do a little shooting. Couldn’t decide what to shoot so just picked a couple guns for a fun comparison. Daisy 880 with open sights compared to Daystate Wolverine R with Aztec emerald scope set at 16x. I used shooting sticks off a seat field target style for the position. Range was 10, 20, 30 yd. A bit of a wind gust came up for a couple of shots, but that’s all part of it. I was really surprised how well the Daisy did with the open sights. Even though at 30 yd I was having trouble seeing the bull.
The target is below. I didn’t hold over with the Daisy, mainly because I didn’t know how much. It is usually my indoor 10m gun. I did adjust with the Daystate since the scope allows for that.
I took 3 shots at each bull. Of course the Wolverine did much better all the way, but it was still a lot of fun.

Haven’t had much time to shoot lately so today it was nice to relax for a bit.

Enjoy,

Observation from a newbie

I switched completely from firearms to airguns in 2022. I have obeserved this. If shooting a pcp at low to medium power a regulator is helpful. If shooting high power an adjustable air valve is helpful. At high power a regulator is not helpful unless adjustable, but not necessary. Air valve power adjustment is most useful when changing pellet weight or shooting bullets. The entire range of air valve power adjustment is covering the entire range of possible projectile weight. Within a projectile weight sweet zone the air valve adjustment uses approximately 30% of it's adjustment range. What?

Huben K1 vs. Feral Hog

I wanted to see if my Huben K1 was sufficient enough for dispatching feral hogs at a "decent" distance on my property and finally had an opportunity to put it to the test last night! This is a custom unit from Kelly at Kraz Cool Airguns with a longer LW polygon barrel so it's putting out quite a bit more energy than the stock .25 version. Anyway, I know how much I searched for people using the K1 for hunting medium sized game and couldn't find much, so I thought I would post for anyone interested. It's a laser beam and I felt confident in landing a headshot from 75 yards away.

IMG_7723.jpeg

Note: A 25 cal pcp airgun is actually illegal in Texas to use for hunting on public land, so understand this is on my own private property. I would NOT use the Huben outside of this, even if it is capable of dispatching the animal. I also would not recommend using this small of a caliber without knowing your shot placement as you may not be able to achieve an ethical kill. I HATE feral hogs, but I still prefer not to let them suffer unnecessarily.
