If in doubt always shoot a sighter

We had a locar BR match on sunday and took a video of my 25 meter card shooting a 177 airgun in HV.
The lesson learned was always shoot a sighter if in doubt and don't let your mind/time pressure you.
At the end, a possible 250 turned into a very painful 249.
On bull 25 you will see I aimed the 25 bull, then, went to the sighter because I thought I saw something different in my flags but my mind tricked me thinking what the hell, this is the last one, what could possible go wrong, let's shoot the last one, everything will be alright 😅
The video is fast forward and only takes about 2 minutes or less.

Tried some of the Crosman pellets today.....

I tried some of the Crosman hollow points in my Cricket 2 today and it actually likes them...:) I started off at 50 yards with them, the first two shots were low right, I adjusted the scope and put 8 in the bullseye....:) I shot several more targets with them and they will eat the bullseye out at 50 yards...I then tried them at 25 yards and shot a full clip (14) same thing...lol I went back to Walmart and bought 8 more tins of them....they are definitely my new pellets from now on....:) I do have to say that I had made a new carbon fiber moderator for my MK 3 and when I got this Cricket 2 I machined an adaptor and put it on it and it's been shooting lights out for me since...I machined a monocore and made it to accept a stack of K baffles in it...I think this moderator is acting like a barrel tuner with this Cricket 2...one thing is certain, for now on, I will not shoot it without it and it's really quiet also...all I hear when shooting it is a slight ping and the pellet hitting the backboard.....:)

Battling the Green Monster

Got to shoot a 50y Rimfire match today at the Cedaredge Rod and Gun Club. They use the USBR (green monster) cards which are the most difficult inward scored targets out there. The 9 ring is smaller than the N50 10 ring. The 10 is 1/3 the size of the N50 10 ring at .100”. Xs must completely obliterate the .100” 10. Really tough cards.

I shot this 249 7x on my last card. Was happy, yet sad because the miss was completely preventable. There was a significant condition change and I just winged it instead of going all the way over to the sighter to get a feel for it. I’d like to say I learned my lesson, but I’ve struggled with lesson retention in the past. 😀

This is the highest card that has been shot at this club so far.

Mike

STRELOCK HELP!!!

1. Maverick compact. 33.946 ( as per Igor) JSB, zero 41 yds. 18 twist? 847 fps. Why? Cause it shoots hole in hole @ this speed and distance. ( which is a good hunting zero ) 7ES 2SD
MRAD 6X24 ATHLON. Mil hash. 84 yds calls for 3.8 when 2.7 is the BULL. EVERY PELLET TOUCHING EACH OTHER ON THE BULL.

2. WINDAGE, USUALLY 1/2 TO 1/3 VALUE. ie: if it calls for 1.4 is .4.

What the heck am I not understanding or doing flat wrong?
I REALLY WANT FIGURE THIS OUT!

USFT  Let's see those USFT's!

Tom Gaylord has written 2 separate multi part articles about these guns. The first was a 3 part series in 2007 and later a 4 part series just his year (2023). I'll start by showing my USFT that was previously owned by a competitive shooter who unfortunately passed away. When I received it, it had a leak. I repaired the leak and then sent it to Tim McMurray for a full service. It is supremely accurate and an absolute joy to operate.
It has had many upgrades and modifications. It was the second gun that Tim added a second regulator to. It has a custom upper block, titanium air cylinder, and a Lilja 3 groove 3/4 inch full bull barrel. It is currently wearing a Vector Optics Minotaur 12-60x60 scope, which has been the best target scope for the money I have found for critical benchrest. It has a 34mm tube, focuses down to 10 yards and has a zero stop. Best under $1000.00 high mag target scope I have found. Let me know if there is anything else out there I should try.

Please post yours so we can all enjoy and keep track of these limited production guns.

PCP Rifle  NLA Huben K1 22 cal carbine purchased new in September 2022

Updated 8/1/23 --> I purchased this Huben K1 new from Kraz Cool airguns less than a year ago. I ran a cylinder of pellets through it at the time and haven't fired it since. It functions perfectly and looks new as shown in the attached pictures. I also purchased an after market loading gate which I saw demonstrated on YouTube. It looks like an excellent product to makethe loading of pellets easier but I never got around to actually installing it.

This is the 3rdHuben K1 I've owned over the years and they have all been excellent air rifles. Compact and powerful, the adjustable power levels allowit to be used for light target practice or for serious small game hunting. I really like owning a Huben but just don't have the opportunity to shoot much anymore. It will ship in the original Hubenbox and will include a copy of my original purchase receipt from KrazCool airguns and the after market loading gate.

My original cost for both items was $1,900. The asking price of $1,500 includes free shipping CONUS, no counter offers accepted.
Everything will be well padded and securely boxed.

Thanks for looking.

N/A  Looking for a better quailty pcp

New here and looking for some advice for a good quality pcp that can shoot 100 plus and hold a group currently have the gauntlet 2 in .22 and it holds decent groups at 75 but looking for something that's lighter and just overall better quality trigger sucks bolt sucks and what not does have good shot count and can be a tack driver under 75 yard just kind of a crappy gun over all

Todays 75 & 100y try

First 75 just a tad right
shooter1,75y,cphp.jpg

So i go 1 click left and a tad left ( guess i need a 1/2 click🤔)
shooter2,75y,r9,cphp.jpg
So went in for a coffee refill and stuff came back out and tried a 100y with just a sideknob adjustment .

It more left but the wind picked up from pretty much none at 75y the a right to left tailing wiffs worth..

I got to assume that pushed them off that much or somthing ..

100y ( 1 premature trigger pull,🥴)
100yleft.jpg

By the time i walked there and back for a look see and pictures then another refill. The wind picked up more so i gave up for now..lol.

Winning score RMAC/EBR - how good relatively?

I’ve been thinking of how to compare just how well the winning scores have been compared to the other top shooters in that tournament. So for instance, which performance was better, the 229 at EBR 2022 or the 239 at RMAC 2023?

So I looked at post Covid “Majors” and played with some numbers. What I did was average the top 5 non winners in each event (2nd thru 6th),, and compare that to the Winners score.

So, here we go:

RMAC 2023, winner 239, next 5 avg 235, winning margin 1.7%.

RMAC 2022, winner 231, next 5 avg 222.8, winning margin 3.7%.

RMAC 2021, winner 228, next 5 avg 221.6, winning margin 2.9%.

EBR 2022, winner 229, next 5 avg 217.2, winning margin 5.4%.

EBR 2021, winner 222, next 5 avg 213.4, winning margin 4.0%.

So post Covid Major Pro 100Y BR, the most dominating performance was EBR 2022 with a 5.4% margin over the next 5 best scores, and surprisingly, the least dominating performance was RMAC 2023 with a 1.7% margin. Interesting… and it goes to show that score alone doesn’t indicate how well the winner did without a frame of reference.

Theoben  Quick group with the Theoben before work

Spotting with sound?

A nearby powder burner club is inviting me out for a look see.
Their range is out to 800 yards, and he was explaining his accomplisments, and vision to complete it.
He said that members can shoot electronic targets out there. ?? Ok what are electronic targets?
He said "basicly," that there are four microphones at each corner of the target. Each mic hears the bullet penetrate the target at at different times, according to their distance from the POImpact. That info is fed into a computer which recreates the target and the POI, at the shooters bench.

I'm wondering what the speed limitations of that device would be? I know their targets are huge creating a longer sound travel time?

Thats the first I've heard of this one.
That is similar to the technology used in Arak to locate enemy fire positions, for targeting.

Other  PP750 stock upgrade

Hey all I stumbled onto a buffer tube adapter for the PP750 at airgunarcheryfun. I got it installed this weekend and personally Im very happy I got it. The adapter puts a whole new feel to this gun. I had a sb tactical side folding adapter that I put in the mix. I personally thought the original stock was way too flexible for my taste even after I installed a 3d printed check riser on it. I'm looking forward to getting it out and doing some shooting. Here's a couple pics.

PCP Rifle  NLA RAW HM1000x .25 cal Chassis…

For your consideration is a RAW HM1000x .25 caliber chassis rifle. I purchased it recently from the original owner (here on AGN.) He ordered it directly from Martin who shipped it on March 15, 2023 so it has seen very little use so far. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but I thought I would try it out anyway. I have another.25 caliber RAW in a wood stock already and decided I prefer it over the chassis stock. I guess I’m just too old and have a preference for what I’ve shot for over 50 years. The rifle is in excellent shape (see pictures) and shoots great. Included is a Gray Ops Arca Rail. Also comes with one magazine. The price is $1425 shipped within the continental US. Thanks for LQQKING!
