My cheap Tuxing compressor

Still work fine but not more than a couple of run hours on it.
Mind you the overpressure valve now leak a little over 200 BAR, but i can not adjust it CUZ its not like it is popping, so will have to take a closer look at that some time here in the off season.
It also still fill to 300 BAR just fine, but with the little leak, well it of course take a little longer, though on the watch timing runs i cant say there is any noticeable difference, but of course i never fill from the exact same pressure to 300 BAR

Only worry is lifetime, but nothing to do but pray i assume.

Back yard plinking

I have just been reading a couple of threads about finding the ideal tune to shoot a specific pellet or slug, it go me thinking, do any of you guys from the US plink in you garden with low powered airguns?

in the uk and many other countries we are restricted in the amount of power our guns can legally produce, here it is sub12fpe. While I can see the benefits of large calibre, high power airguns for hunting and long range shooting but smaller pellets with minimal power has some distinct advantage while shooting in urban areas.

Low power guns use much less air, they are much quieter not just muzzle report but also pellet impact, pellets are cheaper, barrel tend to be less pellet fussy at lower velocities, there is less risk of a ricochet and out to 50yards no compromise in accuracy.

Typically a 8grn .177 travels at 800fps while a 16grn .22 is just under 600fps

As an example My RAW 1000x fitted with a .177 LW barrel does in excess of 400 shots from a single charge, h&n econ pellets cost me £2.50for 500

this is a 10 shot group of econs at 20yards

And this is a 5 shot group at 35yards with .177 jsb exacts

Personally I rate accuracy higher than power……nice to have power and accuracy though 😁

American Air Arms  Oring help on evol

I went to toms website and downloaded the oring sheet with all the sizes and figured since it took me a few minutes to search everything out I would post it here.

Will someone that is familiar orings and the sizes please double check and confirm I'm not ordering the wrong stuff?

If everything checks out then others can use the links to quickly make their own oring kits for their evols.

Sorting. Is x<y<z???

Sorting is quite the polarizing topic. I personally try to avoid it like the plague. I've had a fair amount of field target success with "straight from the tin." But also have more flyers with the .22 MRDs than I like to see.

I sorted some by weight around two years ago, weighing every single pellet in 5 tins. It was miserable. It was tedious. It wasn't something I was very interested in doing again, even though I noted a difference in accuracy and claimed I would weigh for high/power long range ft matches. (I haven't been weighing anything since that experiment, too much PTSD from the first go of it, lol).

So, for those true diehards in the pellet weighing arena...do we think large extreme spreads in weight or imperfections in the head/dome has a grater detrimental effect on a pellet flying straight and true?

Ie, does culling out the pellets with imperfections equate to a greater gain in accuracy than primarily focusing on homogenizing by weight?

Quit my job to go shooting rabbits!!!

Hi Folks,

So I quit my job and I’ve taken the big leap of faith and started a little business doing full time professional pest control culling rabbits here in New Zealand 😳

I’ve just created my first pest control video and uploaded it to a YouTube channel I’ve just created.
Have a look and let me know what you think. Any constructive criticism will be welcomed, and I’ll use any suggestions towards the next video I make.

You might have to copy and paste, sorry, but here is the link:

Many thanks,
Pete.

Alkin W 31 Price hit the roof

I been very lucky with my Sheldon compressor , About six years ago I thought well I will put a little money aside in case my compressor ever gives up, Looked up the Alkin best of the best, 3000. set aside just in case, My compressor never a problem in 12 years or so, Just looked at the price of the new Alkins W 31 Dam a tick over 4000 bucks , What happened , Has the price jumped that much or did I look in the wrong store?
Dam maybe my Sheldon will last another 12 years , I am sure the Alkins will be 6000 by then, Dam , Crazy...

Other  Big bore forum

I have recently jumped head first into big bores and it appears, hopelessly hooked.
I love AGN but the participation level for big bores is minimal at best.
Is there another forum more geared for big bore shooters?
always looking for more information

FX  the pcp that turned me to the darkside has returned home

Logun Solo .22 shooting 15.9 grain jsb @ 880 last time i checked 10 years ago. my bro bless his heart lives in the backwoods country but has no intrigue with shooting or hunting, ive given him the classic ruger 10/22, a nice 30.6 with a grey laminate stock my uncle made, etc and this old school pcp, well i owned a Notos for 3 days and brought it up, the notos is as what all they say for the money but for me it made an excellent trade

N/A  Found an interesting Arca to Picatinny QD plate

I have never seen one quite like this. I can see it being useful / versatile in more than one way.

1696201351661.png

  • I like the single cross bolt and that it is fairly short from front to back at 50mm. Some of my guns only have very short Pic rails and the Picatinny to Arca adapter I have been using like the in the last photo below won't fit them without chopping / modification of the adapter.

  • If you have a bunch of guns with Picatinny rails on the bottom, put this on your tripod head and you won't need an Arca to Picatinny adapter for multiple guns. It is threaded for a standard 3/8" Tripod head. Simply swap out your Arca or whatever clamp you have on the head and voila - direct QD connection for anything with a Picatinny rail on it. Or just insert it in your existing Arca clamp when needed.

  • I like the QD feature, making it an easy on off guns with Pic rails for when you want to mount it on a tripod with an Arca clamp on the head. No tools needed. Would be nice to just keep in the gun case.

I would like to find one shipped from the USA for a bit less money, but the price isn't too bad for what looks like a fairly good build quality. I know OBO tripods and heads have very good reputations.
