Ugly shot, Ugly squirrel but I got em

Well it's finally squirrel season now in SC and they have been visiting my oak trees but I've been frustrating myself missing. Several of the shots I could not see the squirrel clearly and should not have taken the shot. Like this morning. I thought the squirrel was in the crotch of a tree and shot at what I thought was the squirrel and hit the tree. I saw it run off. But an hour or so later it or another one was back in that same crotch and I didn't hit it as far forward as I wanted but I got it. I could see it this time. It had three parasites of some sort in it's skin. You can see them bulging the skin out in the first picture and the third picture is one that fell out when I was cleaning the squirrel. Looks like some sort of worm but really short and fat. The first picture also shows some intestine from the exit of the pellet. The bloody side is the entrance side. This is the ninth squirrel I've shot with my P35 in 177 that shoots H&N Baracuda Match 10.6 grain at about 900 fps. About the only good thing about my shot placement is it shows my 177 will take them even with poor placement. I will continue to try and do better but a 177 works. The squirrel took a few steps up the tree after impact but fell pretty quickly. It weighed 1 lb on my fish scale and was 22 yards away at a 30 degree angle up in a tree.

regulator and barrel length relations

what’s up everyone!
does anyone have a link or information about the maximum fpe attainable with a regulated airgun and an 11.5” barrel sending .22 cal at 14.3-25 grain? this is with all relevant ports expanded for transfer of air. im expecting there’s a plateau for each given pellet before i went searching for it, i was hoping someone here knows or can point me in the right direction.

is all the information i need found in regulator valve dwell time at different pressure set points?

Airgun shooters who want to stand out from the crowd already know the Alpha Wolf, the world’s most advanced air rifle, offers unrivalled performance. But for those who really want to be noticed on the range and competition circuit, Daystate has launched the Alpha Wolf Blue Edition.

Though not limited in terms of number of rifles, the Blue Edition will only be available for a limited period in both 12 ft/lbs and FAC/export output. The 17-inch barrel model will be available in .177 and .22 whilst the 23-inch barrel Alpha Wolf Blue Edition HP will add .25 and .30 options.

In addition to the striking blue and grey laminate stock and metal work, the Alpha Wolf Blue Edition has a specially designed cocking handle and comes with a blue 0db silencer, hard case with a special edition plaque and a tin of the type of rangemaster pellets used to test and set-up the rifle.

Also included is a Data Transfer Device (DTD) and cable so the rifle’s software can be upgraded with free updates and to enable backups and custom programming via a Windows PC or laptop.

In all other regards, the Alpha Wolf Blue Edition is crammed full of the advanced features shooters of the world’s most advanced air rifle already enjoy, including a built-in chronograph, Huma-Air regulator, electronic trigger and firing action and touch-screen accessible adjustments and functions.

In addition, Daystate is offering an optional package of extras (shown) that when purchased with the Alpha Wolf Blue Edition, represents a saving of around 50% against the items purchased separately.

Kalibrgun  Spares Kalibrgun Cricket Gen 1

Dear members, I am having Cricket .25 and is the rifle I intend keeping for years to come.
In my country the spares of Cricket are not at all available and importing stuff is also full big hassle.
As I am currently in Lebanon, I am thinking of getting/ ordering few spares. I have already taken extra Firing valves, Cylinder manometer and Hammer.

Now, considering eventual wear and tear over the years, I am in doubt whether to order Sear Bottom, Sear Top and End Plug body (image att). I request for the Cricket veterans and experts as Mr Charlie and Mr Derrick to please guide on this. Will be very greatful 🙏

Utg swat and Discovery scopes

I have 2 Discovery scopes, a 6-24x50 and a 8-32x50. Have used both on 12 foot pound springers and pcps. Never had an issue. Glass is fairly clear, not sure l would trust them to "click" with but good solid scopes. Have owned several UTG swat and same as Discovery scopes. Has anyone been able to kill a Discovery or UTG scope?

Open Pistol Class?

So here is my latest idea to ruin field target.

Limited Class for PFT. There are hardly any people shooting this class. 7 people have shot Limited in GP matches this year. 16 did last year, but half of those were at the Nationals in PR and the GP from PR from February doesn't have any data in the AAFTA website, so I'm not sure if that was a one and done thing for those extra shooters at 2022 Nats. At any given GP, it's a crap shoot if there will be 3 shooters in Limited.

In case you don't want to read the rules, here is what Limited class is. Take all of the rules for Hunter Pistol and remove the bucket and sticks. And you can click your scope, but it still has to be 12x. So limited is an accurate description.

What I propose is an Open Pistol class. Here are the rules. Take Limited pistol class rules and remove the 12x scope requirement.

Now, I know what you are thinking. "If we add another class to an already low participation event, how is this going to help anything". Well, here's what I think will happen. The people that shoot Limited would switch to Open. Some of the people that shoot Hunter would switch to Open (not a lot, maybe 2 or 3). And after a year of having 3 classes with no one shooting Limited, Limited would go away and we would be back to 2 PFT classes, Hunter and Open.

Here's where you come in. The 7-10 people that currently shoot Limited PFT should chime in and say if they would be open to trying Open (pun intended). And any Hunter PFT shooters that would be interested in trading in their sticks and high seats for full use of their scope should chime in as well.

I realize that Motorhead made a similar proposal a month ago, but his idea was little more radical. 20 fpe, sticks, high seat, full use of scope. His intention was to create a pistol class that would compete on rifle courses with the rifle shooters. My idea is more about trying to increase participation in GP pistol matches.

I realize it would be easier to just remove the 12x rule from Limited Pistol, but every time I suggest changing the rules, people tend to freak the eff out. So let's try it this way instead.

Anyway, I've got my protective eye wear on, so let's see what unanticipated direction this post goes.

Ballistol vs Shooters Choice Lead remover

So has anyone used both of these products? Reason I'm asking is something I'm quite curious about. I've used Ballistol for years on airguns and seems to have been a good product and cleaned well. But based on Tom from AAAs recommendation to others I think who were using slugs on best barrel cleaner, I tried shooters choice lead remover. My Evol barrel is 10.5", polished from factory and not choked. 4 groove and probably the only barrel I've owned that been so smooth and consitent. Typical cleaning is 3 patches usually of ballistol with a dry and it's clean. I used the lead remover and I think took me close to 10-12 patches? Had lots of lead come off also. Makes me wonder if the Ballistol has really worked that well before? I've shot slugs through the gun a few times off and on through ownership but not much maybe 100-200 total in the 1.5yrs. But never had that much lead. Unless the JTS pellets I've been shooting lately is leaving lead behind being a harder alloy than JSBs I've been used to shooting? I'm not sure but I did notice lots of lead this time even so that I used a bronze brush to clean after 8 or so patches seeing the lead come out.

Western Airguns  Rattler doesn't fire but once

So I have a Western airgun rattler 30 cal. I have only used it a hand full of times. This is mainly because it developed an air leak at the rear gage and Ive had it in the attic for 6 months. After putting the wrong o ring in it still leaked until I replaced it with the correct one today. After getting the leak fixed I took it out back ready for some fun. It shot one time accurately and wouldn't shoot again. Like there is no pressure or tension on the trigger. After waiting around for about 7 minutes I heard the gun click. So I pulled the trigger and it shot. Then back to the same thing. It's holding air and all of that is fine. I let all the air out and filled it back up twice only for it to continue to do the same. Honestly I need help with a self fix. I can't afford to send it in or ship it for the warranty. Any ideas . I've uploaded a video as well and as I stated it takes about 7 minutes to reset. Also full auto only fires once. Thanks

PCP Pistol  SOLD Custom Prod 22 with Double Tube SOLD

I'm probably going to regret selling this, but I haven't shot it in awhile it's a great shooting little lite weight carbine, but I bought a GK1 22 so this one needs a new home. It has the R.A.I stock adapter with a very nice adjustable stock with a single point sling attachment, 3 mags, UTG picatinny rail under the air tube, a Donnyfl 1/2x20 mod adapter and a Cothran trigger, it's non-regulated but I've been getting 24 to 32 shots shooting JSB 15.89 Jumbos from my old notes H-782 L-714, I fill to 2700psi because that's the best for higher fps starting out. I'm just wanting to sale to thin the herd a little, scope not included. Asking $525 free shipping and insurance....Thanks Terry

HW/Weihrauch  Peeps Open My Eyes

I thought I had some limited experience with peep sights, but mostly because of the battle rifles I used during my Army career. But recently a member here (Beard Of Grayling) got interested in improving the Williams Foolproof Sight by designing and crafting an extension, iris and sunshade for it. It was never intended to be a production item for profit and only a few were made, which he made available to members. I was one of the lucky ones and it has been a revelation to me how much difference an extension, reduced iris size and sunshade can make.

Here it is on my HW30S, which I just bought when I knew I was going to get the package from him.
IMG_0853.jpg

As I said, only a few were produced or I would buy a few more for some other rifles. So, I turned to the internet shopping pages and was reminded how very expensive target aperture sights are. This brings up a few questions for those with the knowledge and experience I lack:

1. What is the sweet spot financially, where you are not wasting money on junk, but are getting a reasonably good aperture sight (that includes an extension, sunshade and adjustable or changeable iris, and that can be mounted on 11mm dovetails)?

2. What exactly is it that accounts for the high price of these things? I assume precise, reliable, repeatable and accurate adjustments for elevation and windage accounts for part, but I just shoot at 10 meter bullseye targets in my back yard and will only set them once for zero. So, what else makes them worth so much money?

Thanks for any education you are willing to give me (and thanks again to bog).

PCP Pistol  SOLD Weihrauch HW44 Incredible .177 F/S $750

Pains me to sell this as it’s so nice. I have two, one in .22 and had a hard time deciding which one to let go. Small cosmetic mark shows on pic but is completely superficial and can’t be felt. That’s the only thing I could see signs of use. Comes with fill probe and mag. $800 shipped! More pics if you’d like.
