Which do you prefer?

It doesn’t matter what item there is (cars, bows, air gun, etc) you always have high end and low end. The common things to hear are “Until you have one this quality you don’t know what your missing” or “I can have 5 of these alternatives for what you paid for that one they do the same thing”. I can see the point of both sides because I have been on both sides of the debate. So the actual question is if you had to choose do you prefer to have 1 quality one or multiple of the lower quality ones?

FX  Does the FX Panthera make waiting for a Crown MK3 kind of a moot point?

I really enjoy my Crown MK2 .22 in the Saber Tactical chassis. I’ve been waiting for a MK3 version with some of the latest FX goodies. Very recently I’ve begun looking at all that the Panthera has to offer. Then it occurred to me that a Panthera with a front bottle added and the new K&L arca rail installed is basically an MK3 Crown with all the latest FX goodies. Adding a 480cc bottle in addition to the 300cc in the rear makes for a lot of shots. You get the much larger plenum, the cool front facing air gauges and the really nice fine hammer spring tuning set-up. Am I missing something or does the Panthera with its many options make the idea of a Crown MK3 a bit of a moot point? Thanks,
Kenny

New member from The Netherlands

Hello all...

After many hours of reading finally registered as a member.
Thanks for all the information!
I am Rick, 62 years old and for now a hobby shooter.
Have two pcp guns, Artemis 700 (which is for sale) a Hatsan Jet 1 and just bought a used Condor.

Greetings from The Netherlands

how I got my maverick scary quiet by accident

always in pursuit of silence so I can play in my yard like a ninja. anyways I literally have like 6-7 different suppressors and have tried them all on many different models and brands etc and I have finally achieve what I believe to be the pinnacle of silence. 25 more quiet than any 177 or 22 I've own even, on par with my 22 pp750 pushing 15fpe, maverick is 160/112 hammer 0, 26g @ 715fps about 30fpe or so.

so here's the back story and its kind of funny. I recently purchased my maverick from thepelletshop.com. had the bright idea of putting a 480cc bottle for poop and giggles, so I needed a skinny moderator. it was either hugget sniper or DFL koi and went with the koi because it was a little longer and cheaper. so pretty straightforward you would think

but the reason it is scary quiet is get this... the koi is 177/22 caliber! no issues with clipping. and even though DFL has told me directly that larger volume is what suppresses more I've found this is not always the case. because my huma mod40 works better than my mod50 on my AEA SF .30. so with this tid bit of info I took a bit of a gamble got the koi in a smaller caliber,. they even called me to confirm that's what I wanted. works like a charm!

Air Arms  TX200 Lube Question

I have an almost new TX200HC.
I ordered and received(in 5 days) a TinBum Short Stoke tune kit from TinBum in England.
I'm getting ready to install it and I'm going to use Krytox instead of TinBum's moly lube that came with the kit.
I have cleaned all of the old lube out of the gun completely, but have a question:

Do I lube the outside of the compression tube where it slides back and forth in the receiver when cocking? There was a very thin film of something on it when I removed it and in the receiver, but I thought that may have just been the moly from the spring and piston that dispersed though firing the gun.

I have it all so clean now, that I'm being extremely careful about where and how much I lube with the Krytox.
I've looked at dozen's of threads both here and on the other forums regarding tuning a TX200, but nothing has ever been mentioned about lubing the outside of the compression tube where it slides in the receiver when cocking the gun.
I guess that I could call/email TimBum, but wanted ya'lls opinion please.
Thanks in advance.
Norris

Getting started

Hello,
I am wanting to get started in our local benchrest outdoor 50yd matches. I have an RTI prophet 1 in 22 with the LR barrel, Vulcan 3 700mm 22 setup up for slugs at 80FPE for hunting. A Hatsan carnivore in 30cal at 100fpe for hunting and a tx200 in 177 for FT. Also, a Vulcan 3. 500mm in 177 for open class.
I thought about trying the RTI for it and using my rock jr front rest and a rear bag for it.

Now,
I would like a dedicated gun for benchrest. I can't afford a Thomas but I would like a decent gun and scope and a flag setup with maybe something different for rest setup. If had to put a limit it would be 2,000 for rifle/scope setup and unsure about flags and rest. I do know no high dollar rests.

Also, I have never played this game before.

Thanks
Jon

Theoben  Shot the "270" Today...First Year Theoben....

I acquired this Sirocco Delux .22 SN270 from David Slade on consignment while picking up or dropping off some other guns to be serviced about two years ago...he had just serviced it...I had him set the power at 12fpe and besides one pellet when I got it home has been in storage since then. Finally got around to mounting a Vortec 4x12 scope, ran 7 Crosman domes across the crony, 12fpe right on the money...took a few shots to sight it in at 25yds...shooting off my knee as my custom is...printed this group...not bad for a 41 year old just serviced air rifle...if I say so

Pellet Slug Conversion; .30 Pellet to .22

Hello,

Is anyone also doing pellet to slug conversions taking larger caliber pellets, cutting off the skirts, and then using a 3d printed jig for sanding out a spitzer shaped round? I’ve made some rolling jigs and have found this is really an economical way to test slugs without dealing with the metallurgy differences of slugs to pellets. Barrel wear around rifling reduction when shooting slugs is measurably reduced. Using a bore scope I am seeing significant land and grove wear reduction across 10,000 rounds.

So Many Different Rifles

I posted this comment over a week ago and have not received any comments.

"We are all prisoners of our experiences. My first air rifle was a springer Winchester/Daisy model 1000. I inherited it from a dear friend who passed away from cancer this spring. I put a scope on it and it is working well. I then purchased a Ruger Blackhawk/Umarex springer. The scope didn't work so I put a Hawke 2 X 7 scope on it and it is coming along."

How is an air gun newby supposed to understand the myriad of makes and models, especially when most of the posts give a model number but not a manufacturer. Or is confusion the intent?
