Results  Team Centercut at EBR 2023

EBR 2023 was the best run, most fun event that we’ve competed in. All events were full and things went off smoothly all weekend. Great job AoA!!
The Team had seven shooters competing Pro and two in Sportsman, plus two additional in Sportsman that were staying with the Team, so eleven total.
Five of us made the Pro finals (100Y) and Derrick Wall @zx10wall finished 4th overall. Auggie Sotelo @Bigragu was staying with the Team and finished 2nd (100Y) in Sportsman class.

Left to right, Derrick, Mike, Dave, Scott, Caleb, Tony, Barbara, and Peykan.

The Team standout was Caleb Dickenson @okieairgunner, who won the Pro Speed Silo, defeating Tom Adams who had won in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Caleb also won the Extreme Field Target event shooting 39/40, and finished 2nd in the EFT GP National Championship one point behind John Bagakis. Great shooting Caleb!!

Inconsistency in Pellets can be frustrating

Hello everyone,

I just finished shooting a full tin (250 pieces) of JSB Jumbo 15.89gr pellets and found them to shoot fairly consistent at 10-meter and 25–yards. I opened a new tin (500 pieces), loaded 10 in the magazine and had to push with a good bit of force to load the first pellet into the rifle. Made the shot and the POI was almost 1-inch high left of the Bull. Second pellet also hard to load and the POI was 3/4-inch low right. Shot a third and the POI was 1-inch right. Removed the magazine and pushed out the remaining pellets. What the heck  ?

Got my Pellet Sizing Tool and inserted the first pellet. Normally a 5.5'ish pellet will drop about 1/3 the way into the Tool and require very little pressure to push it through. With this first pellet and the next four the pellet only dropped in to the point that the Skirt was flush with the opening. It required quite a bit of pressure to push them through and even the Head of the pellet shows where it contacted the inner wall ( see photo - yellow arrow ). I loaded and shot these 5 re-sized pellets and not one was within ½ inch of the Bull? So now I have 500 pellets that not usable. Note the wording on the Tin’s lid that I circled in yellow ~ Carefully Selected ~ really o_O???

FX  Does your velocity change depending on full tank or less?

FX Wildcat MK3 VP with a 300 bar bottle been having issues with consistency where it was varying almost 200 fps within a few shots. I got it to be consistent but now while trying to tune, the velocity changes depending how full the tank is. If the tank is at 300 bar down to about 220 bar it shoots at about 860fps on power wheel 3 but once it drops under 220 bar, the velocity goes up to 930. First reg is set to 160 and second reg is set to 120... I can only think that the velocity is going up as the tank pressure goes down because the valve is opening more due to not having to fight as much pressure from the reg and this only happens on the lower settings of the power wheel. Power wheel 5-7 stays the same velocity no matter what. Overall it is just weird because the regs should be preventing any of these changes coming from the bottle anyways. If it is the regs, which one would you suspect or maybe both?

Airforce  Pa Small Game 22 pcp ....Umarex Origin or Aiforce condor?

First off I already have a compressor.... Scba tanks...Aqua Environment External regulator... I have property here in Pennsylvania I'd like to small game hunt....Our regulations are .177 and .22 cal airgun s only.... Sucks a lil....I'm limited on funds but hate to miss another small game season. I can buy a refurbished Umarex Origin 22 cal for $206.00 on EBay... I'm Also considering Airforce outlet page ...seconds on a Airforce Condor 22 cal....probably 24 inch version... $500.00 and some change... I assume barrels on both will be rough...I'm experienced in hand lapping bore with lead laps...I'm familiar with Airforce platform.... Have tethering set-up..... Origin has a stock.... Probably not hold.sensitive..... I know my Umarex Airsaber much less hold sensitive and easier to shoot than my Texan....Weight is a concern... I'm semi handicap.. Any thoughts of you who.are 22 cal small game hunters chime in...I'm also.setup up.for.casting ... So id like to cast for either choice in the future... I'm willing to modify and upgrade for performance if cost effective..... Thanks friends

Umarex  Notos and Bug Buster

My shoebox compressor came today so I aired up my Notos and set out to zero in my Bug Buster 3-9x32. This is my first PCP, and I am having a bit of a difficult time with the eye relief on the Bug Buster - I may need to sort out mounts to bring it back further.

It seemed like it was fairly easy to zero I at 12 yards, but I noticed that it was getting pretty inconsistent - especially if I changed my magnification lower then back to higher.

I realize they aren’t premium glass, but are big busters notorious for not holding zero with magnification changes? I’m more of an iron sights guy, so trying to figure out where my issue is.

Thanks!

Spectrum Analysis

A spectrum analysis is a compilation of all frequencies and the power levels associated with each over some specified interval.

This is a spectrum analysis of two signals.
Both signals (red and blue) are about 0.35 seconds long.
This graph shows a comparative spectrum analysis of the samples.
It shows frequencies between 0Hz and 22kHz in 512 bins with each bin representing a channel 43 Hz wide.
The two signals are over laid.
The blue signal analysis is for the bare rifle.
The red signal analysis is for the rifle with the moderator. The moderator used generally tests as about 10 dB below the bare rifle if you are checking with a cellphone microphone from a distance of about 15 feet. The cell phone microphone favors the low end of the spectrum. It also sounds very good and flat to the average listener.

red&blue.jpg

This very clearly shows what is happening with this moderator (or pretty much any moderator). The moderator captures the low frequency energy passing through the moderator and translates it to higher frequencies. It emits that energy at the higher frequencies. Those frequencies are mostly above about 6 or 8 kHz. The higher the better. The longer this takes the better.

So the moderator should take a blast of high pressure air which contains some set of frequencies and slow that air down so that the signal takes longer to pass (removes the crack) while at the same time translating those low frequencies to higher ones.

That is what it has to do.

EDIT: I want to make clear that the graph represents the PEAK power level for each "bin" during the sample period. IOW the graph does not start at 0 seconds and progress forward. That's not how this works. If you pick any point on the graph, that point is the PEAK power level for the frequencies (the bin) represented during the sample time.

RC Shock oil as a pellet lube?

Hi Guys,
Has anyone tried using radio controlled car shock oil as a pellet lube?
I believe it is silicone based so dieseling should not be a problem. There are different weights (viscosity’s) avalible from 20 to 45. I’m thinking the thinnest, 20 might be worth trying.
If you have any experience using it please let me know how it went.
The other option I’m planning on trying is bicycle chain wax.
Pic attached of both.

Tuning  M3 700mm 25 cal tuning process

I am trying to get 1MOA at 100m shooting slugs with my M3. I have documented the process of tuning:

At the end of this report I have couple of questions. I could get 1moa groups, but could not be consistent.
I hope this report could be useful for somebody new, and experts could give me some ideas for better tuning to make the gun more consistent.
