Windy day low shot count but I can took this postal, that I share with AGN friends

Gents,

Those of you who pay any attention to the occasional drivel I post know that I am a big fan of the Brocock Sniper platform. Given this, and the fact that L. Leon had pulled ahead of me in the Ultimate Brocock Fanboy competition, I quite logically concluded that I should have another one, lest ol’ L. Leon run away and hide with the fanboy title. As the new Sniper Sahara was making my sticker peck out, I reduced one in .177 to possession, courtesy of the fine folks at AoA.

After some thought and a few hours at the lathe and mill, I had a suppressor machined up and ready to go. And as I LOVE the power range, my new toy was topped off with a Swamp Fox 2-12 power scope with the MOA reticle. After a few hiccups and a flurry of pellet testing, she was shooting dots with the JSB Exact Monster Redesigned. It was time to hunt.

Alas life, as it often does, got in the way for a spell and the Brocock languished in the dark confines of the gun safe with its brethren. It was a shame. Maybe even a crime…

But nothing will make a man forget his obligations faster than the appearance of ground squirrels around his locale, in this case my neighbors pasture. Tools were dropped on the spot and chores were forsaken. The water heater could continue to leak. A Brocock jihad was in order.

The below is the result of the Sniper Sahara’s first two trigger pulls on live game, one at 48 yards, the other at 53, both shots right in the hard drive.

UPDATE:
It looks like the moisture I was noticing was from water that had accumulated in the fill hose from my 100cc Portable Air Venturi Tank. This is how it happened: I usually have the tank sitting up on a workbench, while the compressor is down on the floor. So as the water condensed inside of the hose it would flow down to the compressor's moisture reservoir. Every time I had filled the gun in the past, when I was done filling and I bled the line, about 1/2 tsp of water would come out of the compressors moisture reservoir.

During the last couple fills I was using the compressor in the field and it was being powered by my car. So I stupidly had the compressor sitting up on the car and the tank was 4 feet below on the ground. So all the water that was condensing in the hose was flowing toward the tank instead of the compressor. Thinking back I remember noticing that I there wasn't any water coming out of the compressor when I opened the bleed valve. All that water was still in the hose.

I detached the hose and there was about 1/2 tsp of water inside. I dried it out and now I'm not noticing any water in the quick connectors after filling the gun, or when bleeding the line. I disassembled the gun, bottle, and air tank, all were completely dry and showed no signs that there had ever been any moisture.

Next time I'm filling in the field using my car for power I'll put the tank on the roof.

I made an air filling station with a coalescing filter in between the compressor and tank. There a lot of debate if a filter is necessary, but I figure it can’t hurt.

ORIGINAL POST:

I just realized that the air used for the last several fills/top-offs of the 500cc bottle of my Impact contained inadequately dried air. I noticed this during the last fill when I removed the hose from the gun and there were a couple drops of water around the fill nipple. Then when I bled the line of the 100 cui fill tank, the air was misty and left a damp spot on my pant leg. Very bad!

I’m asking for recommendations on how to best move forward in terms of removing all moisture from the gun, replacing/repairing o-rings or other parts that may be damaged.

As for the bottle and fill tank, I’m thinking it should be straight forward: degass and remove the valves, clean, dry.

As for the gun, I’m guessing I should take the gun completely apart - or at least until I can access the inside of the plenum, carefully drying everything as I go with lint-free wipes, swabs, maybe a blow drier. And relubing all o-rings that don’t appear to be damaged.

I’ve since corrected the moist air issue with an improved filtering setup, so this wont be happening again. I’m very frustrated with myself for not being more knowledgeable about proper air filtering before I started using the gun.

I new before I bought this Ghost that I was probably going to be limited on trigger unless I go deep or send it off. Unless I'm totaly missing something I can't get it even close to my liking with just the 1.3mm hex adjustmants. I have to it right were it won't cock then a we bit back & done. Still heavy as all get out, It gives me fits because I know I can do a sub 1/2"@100 group with this Ghost on any given day with 50.15. , but fighting this trigger has me in a corner. Off to Derrick or I do it myself. It doesn't look easy to get it were I nee it.
This was the 1st 3 of 5 @ 100 & woulda been 1/2" all day. I took pic at 3 as I know 4-5 will be trigger blown.

What is everyone doing to get there triggers in a doable mode for bench @100 ?

I have a beautiful 2019 .30 caliber Uragan offered at $950 PayPal friends and family sending 50 grain knockout slugs at 900 ft./s humor regulator tuned at 170 bar shoots lights out 150 yards this thing is rocksolid. Any reason not to get this kit?

I have a Brocock Sniper XR Magnum with the Safari stock in .25 caliber for sale. Condition is excellent. The gun has maybe a tin of pellets through it. I have a RW HP in .25, a Huben K1, and a @zx10wall tuned Uragan in .25 so the gun doesn't get much shooting at all anymore. Time to hand it over to someone who will shoot it. Plenum reg set to about 150. I have shot JSB M2 33.95gr at 935 FPS (FX Chrony) and it will drive a tack at 50 and 100 yards. The gun is way more accurate than me. Comes with the BRK magazine and a CARM magazine. Scope, mounts and moderator are not included. $1550 TYD using PP F&F. I'm kinda interested in this model but there isnt a grease pot like the normal CS4. Instead it says now "grease filling". I'd like to know first how the grease should be filled on this model.

Does anyone have an idea?

would like to hear about anyones experiences with lower speed slugs,
specifically in the 790 to 820 ish fps range.

i have been wringing out the rainson edge and trying out both barrels......

.22 barrel reg at 135bar shoots jts 18gn pellets at 900fps amazingly well. (full mag 13yd groups i can cover with an aspirin)

.25 barrel seems to love LOVE h&n 28gn slugs at 795-800fps,
and when i say love i mean LOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOL

it shoots both the .249 and .250 h&n slugs very well,
but the .250 standard hp slug (not the II version with the deeper hollow point)
is really really good.

i left the reg at 135 when i switched to the .25 just to get a baseline,
they came out at 795-800fps
out of curiosity i started shooting groups with them,
and was amazed they shot just as good and better than pellets,
and it just does group after group very consistently like this.

heres a picture of a few groups,
yes its very close range (13yds)
but for the larger caliber slugs to beat the group size of pellets,
well,that impresses the hell out of me lol

2 groups on the left are with the .250 hp II 28gn,
a 5 shot on the end,and then 2 more shots.

I have been ill for a few days. As a means to kill some time I did a pellet prep bing yesterday. I prepared about 3000 pellets for the final lubrication phase for use in my TX200. I don't do that phase until I am ready to shoot them.

I typically use AA Field Heavy 10.3 grain in 4.52mm as they work well in my rig. They are usually very clan with a consistent head size. As such I do not generally clean or sort by head size. However when I get an inconsistent batch I do head sort.

I sort into bins routing to the nearest 1/10th grain. It usually takes 4 bins. I pull any damaged at that time as well.



After that I then set them up for lubrication. I use bees wax. I stand the up to keep the lubrication from getting behind the skirt.



I have been told I am perhaps overdoing things.

At benches 11 & 20 each shooter had bipod with an elivation/windage handle and am wondering
where I can find one?

While the filming for the new season is all wrapped up, we wanted to give you a sneak peak of how we get some crazy slow motion footage. What camera are we using? We use the Chronos 1.3 to get this type of footage.

So I have an S45 and it takes a fill to 300 bar. When I connect my air tank it will only fill it to a tad over 200 and stops. Anyone else have this issue? SCBA tank is full.

mounting nikon p223 on my Avenger. With the rings already on scope I have VERY small clearance of barrel(like 1 sheet paper thick). Is clearance on airgun as important has ceneterfire? Has you can tell, I'm new to sport

I bought a naked prophet 1, a short barrel, and a small bottle for it to make a true compact air rifle, so I put it together yesterday, pellet pusher first, then the barrel, the shroud and end cap, the bottle and regulator, then the butt plate. No issues at all, it was as easy as it could be. Until I filled the rifle.
I had a prophet 2, I rebuilt the regulator, put it together, and worked flawlessly on the P2, but something is wrong, the regulator should be around the 50 bar mark as the set screw is backed almost completely out as in flush. But as I fill it the reg pressure matches the bottle pressure to 160 bar, am I doing something wrong that is obvious? Because this is blowing my mind for a day and a half now.
