Optics  SOLD Athlon Argos BTR Gen 2 FFP 8-34x56 30 mm tube.

Want to sell Athlon Argos BTR Gen 2 FFP scope 8-34x56
Scope is like new. It tracks well and stays zeroed well. I have the original packaging and owner's manual. I also have the Allen wrenches needed for the turrets and zero stop.
I still have the packaged lens cloth that goes with it.
However, one day this last winter it was really cold and when I reached up to flip the objective lens cover, with my gloves on, somehow the little spring loaded hinge broke. I don't know! I could only guess the plastic hinge got brittle out in the cold. The lens cover still snaps onto the objective,it just doesn't flip up anymore.
Other than that the scope is perfect. Not a scratch anywhere.
I'll take $365 and I'll eat the shipping.
Shipping paid for only the lower 48 states.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Umarex Notos

Want to sell an Umarex Notos. The carbine is basically like new. I have shot less than 100 pellets through it.
I have the original packaging and paperwork including the owners manual.
Everything is there; fill probe, magazine, and single shot tray.
Not a scratch! It's been taken care of!
I'll take $260 and I'll eat the shipping costs.
Shipping is covered only in the lower 48 states.
Would it sweeten the deal if I threw in a new tin of FX 15.9 grain pellets.
That's what I shot in it and they did great for me!

DonnyFL Yokozuna VS Huma40

There’s already a couple threads on the new DFL, but I thought I’d start a new one so as not to hi-jack the existing ones…

So here’s some feedback on the DFL vs the Huma40. The DonnyFL Yokozuna is out of the box stock. The Huma40 has the “Avalanche” inserts, but they aren’t stock. They have some “finger cots” and pellet packing material in the baffles. Both moderators were made for .30 pellets.

I guess for “real testing”, I would’ve made a whole bunch of shots and then averaged the sound levels. I didn’t feel like wasting the air or the pellets so the screen shots represent single shots.

Two airguns were used. The first was a 40fpe .22 20” CZ and the second was a 80fpe .30 24” LW. The same moderator configuration was use for both airguns..swap the mod or add the DFL adapter and go.

The “testing” was with two different iPhone apps, “Decibel Meter dB sound detector” and “Sound Level”. While they might not be capable of exact dB measurements, they do offer a like for like comparison.

The iPhone was placed on the grass and the moderator was held 18” away and off to one side.

To my ears, the Huma was more mellow and the DFL had a hard to describe metallic sound. The Decibel Meter dB app shows graphs with a double spike for the DFL Yokosuna. This same pattern existed in both the .22 and .30.

Here’s the .22 screen grabs..for DFL Yokosuna

Here’s the .22 screen grabs..for Huma40

Here are the .30 grabs..for DFL Yokosuna

And the .30 grabs..for Huma40
IMG-30-Huma40-2+B-dBM.jpegIMG-30-Huma40-3+B-SL.jpeg

I was curious about the metallic DFL sound, so I unscrewed all the sections to do a quick exam. I could tell there was a difference in the way the moderator re-assembled. The “normal” feel when screwing the sections together was a bit of o-ring drag on the threads just as the section started to snug down. When screwing a small section into the larger, empty, “blast section”, there was no drag feeling..just metal to metal contact when snugged down. Hmmm. Wonder if this is the source of the double spike?

Notice the difference in the larger DFL section??..see the red arrow..
IMG-DFL-YOKO-Sections.JPG

I’m pretty sure the area without the threads doesn’t allow the o-ring to contact anything when a small section is screwed into the blast section. Maybe this creates a micro-reverb chamber..IDK Not sure if this is supposed to be normal. Does anyone else have a Yokozuna or Ryu they could disassemble to check? I’d be curious to see if there’s a difference between what I have and what others have.

Just for grins, I took the blast section out and made another shot..just to test my theory..

Screen grab for DFL..without “blast section”

Double spike is still there but spike number two is greatly reduced and, to my ears, sounds a lot more like the Huma. If you believe the app, actually a little quieter, too.

ThomasT's Printable Paper Targets

NOTICE:
Due to Copyright Laws , I can only post pdf files that are my original designs on this thread.

Please do not ad any additional pdf files.

Thank you,
ThomasT

Hello everyone,

I have been asked to start this thread and list some of my original design Printable Paper Targets. I have included a small “photo” ( .jpg file ) of each of the Targets so you can see what the printed Target will look like. The download .pdf file is near the bottom of the page. I almost always have a “SCALE” located on the paper Target, which is shown 1/4", ½" and 1". Print one copy of the Target and use a ruler to measure the SCALE to confirm that your printer settings have printed to the correct size. In the “setting” when you print always choose “Print to Page Width” and you should get an exact size printed. All of these Targets are designed to be printed on standard size 8-1/2" x 11" paper or card stock.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Hope you enjoy and have fun shooting :p

HW/Weihrauch  I’m blown away

I had given up on the idea of a springer years ago, but I’m so glad I decided to revisit them! This hw97 I just got in last week is amazing, like pcp accurate to 30 yards, and maybe more, I just haven’t done anything further with it yet. Not only is it accurate, but it seems to be accurate with everything I put in it. Today I tried the regular crosman premier hollow points from Walmart. This is a five shot group at 30 yards. After that I proceeded to hit bullseye after bullseye off the sticks with this gun. I was not expecting this at all!

Misfire

Was going out to my favorite spot to hunt some Nutria last night (flash light style 😁). Loaded my Wildcat with JTS 45.06gr pellets. Going 880 fps. Locked and loaded, safety on. Walked out back to my field and strapped on the gun, boom! WC went off, wtf ? Never done that one before. I've put about 1500 rounds and never seen this one. I think the pellet went down and out into the field. No nutria tonight, tried a few spots but they were all hiding.

So I wake up and head to the store in my Explorer to get some goceries. Low tire pressure tire warning light came on. Odd, I've had problems with the valve seats leaking in the past and replaced all 4 a year ago. Tires are about 3 year old, about 30k miles on the Toyo Proxies ST II. Oh well, fill with some air off I go. After I get out of the store, I get another low tire warning. Tire looked good, so headed home. Pulled the wheel off looking for that nail or whatever is stuck in the treads. Noticed a small peirce in the sidewall. Then I noticed something was rattling around inside the tire. How in the hell did that happen? I haven't drove in a few days. Oh no .

My car is in one of those carports with the tarp style walls and roof with the metal poles. They work good, last one I had lasted about 3 years before it succumbed to the snow, rain, sun and high winds. Did I shoot my tire last night, no freaking way? Go out to the carport, sure enough. A hole in the side of the tarp, right where I walked by when the WC went off and about where the tire was at the time. Damn. $193 damage, tire arrives Thursday. Can't fix sidewall repairs. Tire flexes and is thinner in that area. Not going to chance a blowout on the Freeway going 75 mph. Get er done and do it right.

Pellet went right into the tire. No ricochet, nothing bouncing off, clean through at 77 fpe at a fully inflated 32 psi tire. So went online and found Ernest explaining details about trigger adjustments. Sure enough, the safety screw was just far enough away from the trigger bar it would fire on safety. Got that fixed. Yep, this was my day. How was yours?

Kalibrgun  Cricket tactical .22 is inconsistent. Solution?

Someone gave me his Cricket tactical for fixing the issue of inconsistency.

I chronied it and it was like 880 fps, 970fps, 940fps etc.

Neither its behaviour is of unregulated gun nor like a regulated gun.

The owner has already given it to two tuners but no one could fix it.

He also installed Huma regulator but in vain.

I disassembled the gun and found that regulator is working fine.

Checked that valve pin is not seizing in the hole.

Cleaned the gun and adjusted the valve return spring at a higher pressure.

Lubed the necessary areas and reassembled it.

Now the behaviour is a bit better but then there is low or high fps by 50fps. The spread is also not like it should be.

Now as the regulator is fine, I can just assume that there may be some rough area on hammer or in the channel in which hammer moves.

I couldn't disassemble the hammer as the screw type pin that holds the hammer inside the action is too tight and couldn't be unscrewed.

I can just assume that due to some reason the hammer strike is not consistent which results into inconsistency.

Please advise.

Regards,

Bhaur

FX  FX DYNAMIC OR KEEP M3?

Hi All,
i,m starting to think to get myself a Dynamic in .30 cal for long distance shooting mainly just for fun and because i can, I,m getting this obsession that ELR appeals to me and the odd bit of rabbit shooting at distance also appeals, My gun cabinet at the moment compiles of a tunned M3 in .25, a tuned Huben K! In ,25, A tuned Vulcan 3 in .22, And a Leishy 2 in .30 i dont like the Leishy but rate the other 3 highly,
i shoot all 3 out to 200yds regular and my question is would a Dynamic open up even longer distances at a better accuracy ?, or even would it be more accurate at 200yds than my collection, The dynamic would be just used as a super long range tool and i never take any of my guns off my property so long length wouldn’t be any issue, I.m trying not to get sucked in by all the hype so appreciate your comments, Thanks

Brocock/BRK  Ghost owners: please check if your Ghost’s cocking lever is jolted when shooting pellets

I've noticed that my cocking lever seems like it's being hit by a hammer when firing a pellet (or possibly being hit by a blast of air within the mechanical assembly of which the cocking lever/rail is part), which imparts some vibration onto the entire rifle. This doesn't happen when dry firing the gun. Do you have the same happening on yours?

Mega pellet trap

I decided I‘m throwing enough lead in my backyard to justify stepping up my level of safety with an effective pellet trap. I’ve been using large cardboard boxes filled with rags but that is a bit of a hassle in the long run (plus I got a few escapes). Also tried some truck mud flaps but they were noisy and I was starting to get penetrations. Way too expensive in the long run.

I listed my requirements:

Safely captures pellets up to heavy .30 and potentially slugs (800-900 fps)
No ricochets.
Large enough to capture most strays without a backstop at 35 yards.
Stable.
Minimum noise emitted from impact.
Retain targets securely.
Easy replacement of sacrificial target mounting surface.
Allows reclaiming most spent lead.
Weather resistant.
Transportable.
Rebuildable.
Built from readily available components.
Cheap.

Seeing many of the concepts on this site and watching several YouTube videos I settled on the storage bin with rubber mulch concept. In my case I stepped it up with the large 40 gallon bin. A word of warning though is this thing is f#%king heavy so a smaller bin with a large backstop may be a better choice for some. In my case I’m only going to move it about 20’ and I like reducing the need for a large backstop.

I used three bins. One to hold the mulch. One to hold a thick rubber mat. One to hold a sheet of 3/4” plywood. I could have used just one bin with all three items but the thing is so damn heavy one bin is not strong enough not to bulge and deflect. This rubber mulch is heavy! Plus with three bins I can take advantage of the three lids. One to contain the mulch. I decided to let the pellets decide over time what minimum openings are needed on this lid to minimize mulch escaping. One lid to retain cardboard to tack target to. One lid to use for storage to minimize impact from weather etc.

This beast took over 7 bags of mulch!

Side note: I am constantly amazed how respectfully accurate the short 250mm alfa barrel Is on my L2. Trigger is the only challange at 35 yards with this air rifle.
