FX  My FX Impact M3 .25 is haunted.

I have a situation that I can't figure out. I have an FX Impact m3 in .25 cal with a 700 mm barrel. I have installed a Huma slug power kit with the 6.9 gram hammer and 1st and 2nd stage Huma regulators.

1st reg...........170
2nd reg..........140
Macro.............1
Micro..............3
Valve..............4
FPS.................960
JSB KnockOut MK ll 33.49gr.

If I turn the Macro Wheel to a higher number the FPS goes down. A setting of 16 brings the FPS down to 835. The Micro Wheel does the same, higher settings give slower speeds. If I turn the valve to the 5th line FPS goes to 1050.

Is there something I'm not seeing. Why is the Macro and Micro adjustments seemingly working backwards?

Thanks, James

N/A  What Pistol?

I own several spring piston rifles, all Weirhauch, and I very much like the nature of spring piston airguns. I am looking to buy a first air pistol and looked on the internet for videos or written materials on how to choose an air pistol. There was very little that I found, and most of the google results actually were about rifles despite my search query for pistols. I looked at AoA and PA to see what is available and still feel uninformed.

I don't want pcp. The spring piston pistols I saw looked like they might be more difficult to cock than I want given the lack of a buttstock for leverage. I guess I could go with CO2. I want something that is a single shot, and looks like one, no semiauto pistol or revolver look alikes. It does not need to be super quiet but super noisy is out. I want it strictly for 10 meter bullseye target shooting, but in my backyard so I don't need an Olympic grade pistol. I do want good, adjustable iron sights and a decent trigger. Despite the desire for a good trigger, I do want to stay well under $300.

Anything like that out there?

Any articles or videos you know of on how to choose an air pistol?

Thanks for any advice.

H&N .177 slugs.

I tried these slugs in .177 when the first became available.
Accuracy did not happen for me. Decided to forget them, no further testing.

Just looking back over my notes from the last year, I'm mostly shooting H&N, pellets and slugs, in .22 plus.

In .177, I'm happy with H&N pellets but still using JSB and Zan slugs. Multiple barrels, rifles and speeds.

Anyone used H&N .177 slugs lately? Thoughts? Any design changes? Anything 🙂.

I'm keen to try the .177 slugs again but reluctant to throw money at a past failure.
Still, I'm optimistic someone has some recent experience.

Thanks Gary.

Preferred Velocities?

Hello from a Newbie to the airgun world (I'm a refugee from a very long apprenticeship in the 22 RF accuracy world)

From my reading there seem to be "preferred velocities" in the PCP guns to run certain projectiles at e.g. 890's for pellets and 930's for slugs.

Are these preferred velocities a function of projectile performance (oburation maybe, or skirt deformation or ???) or are they a consequence of barrel harmonics or something else ?

Cheers

Snowpeak  Stoeger Bullshark .177 JSB KO 13.43

Stoeger Bullshark .177
1/21 twist
900 fps

I got the slugs late last night and did a quick chrono test/sight-in before trying them at 50 yards. I shot the left 2 Xs top to bottom and them made a scope adjustment on the right X. I loaded 10 and then 5 for the last group so one of them snuck into another hole in the last group.

I think they're showing a lot of promise already. I'll probably play with the hammer spring and try some different velocities when the weather permits. It's looking like rain here for the next few days.

Beeman  From RD Beeman Collection

I recently had the good fortune to take part in the Rock Island Auction selling off some of the RD Beeman Museum Collection. I purchased 4 rifles in total...three R1s and an RX.
One of the R1s is a 20th Anniversary Commemorative with a 0002 stamp. Number 2 of 75 produced. Number 0001 went to the owner of Weihrauch.
The second rifle in the lot was the Prototype for this design. Both came with beautiful cases one being the Commemorative version.
I will be posting the other two rifles once I get them sorted. But for now I wanted to share these Museum pieces with our community in honor of the late Dr. Beeman.
Many people have many opinions about Doc Beeman, but one thing is for sure....he had great taste in airguns! Enjoy!
