Optics  SOLD One of the best Hawke airgun scopes ever made…

For sale out of my collection is a Hawke AIRMAX SF 30, model 13320, 6-24x50 scope with the AMX illuminated reticle. See box end photo below for specs.

This scope has been “babied,” only used on my Air Arms S410 shot on my indoor basement range by my granddaughter.

Is as close to new in appearance as can be for a used scope with no mount marks visible. Tracks as good as the day I acquired it. Has the original box, manual, extra set of scope caps, extra IR battery, all cap and Allen wrenches, and will be shipped in the original packaging.

The only thing missing is the side focus wheel as I have no idea where it is.

I have owned a half dozen of these over the many years with never one ounce of issue.

$330 via PayPal F&F shipped within the continental US.

Thanks for looking.

RTI  Big is in for 2024

I’ve been working on a new project for the RTI. The Montster magazine holding 33 pellets in the .22 caliber.
The design is working very well. But it didn’t come easy. With over 100 changes, I’ve finally got a mag that’s working.
But im still in the testing stages while, I waiting on parts that I’ve sent out to have built. The prototype 3D printed parts are work well. But 3D printed parts.
can’t offer the reliability I’m looking for.
But 3D printing can offer proof of concept.
Here’s a few pictures of what it looks like.

Never ordered pellets from Midwayusa..

Never will again either. Ordered some tins of pellets and they were placed in a thinly padded packing envelope with internal packing at all. I'm sure you all can just imagine what the post office did to them in transit. One tin is so beat up there's no way to remove the lid without cutting it open. Just an fyi. I love midway as I've been using them for many years but never for airgun ammo.

The Victorian Air Cane

I guess this could have gone in the PCP forum! 😄
Be sure to watch his two Youtubes. I would hate to be on the receiving end of this "air gun."

Shooting with a New Person and Kid

Just had a forum member leave my place here and wanted to post about it while I thaw out a little bit.

Wont name the person, he can pop in this thread if he wants. Saw a post by him last week and found out that we are not too far apart here and he is new to airguns and so I offered a range day here. I've offered similar to others and rarely get bites, perhaps I just smell bad...I'm not sure.

Anyway, he came by and brought his young son with him. Great folks and I think we all had a blast. I've never had kids. Had worked with kids for many years, but that was 10 years ago and very rarely ever got to SHOOT with a kid so this was a treat for me. They have a Gamo of some kind that they brought by and said they couldnt hit much with it. We spent some time just talking in the 'man room' before going out to the range and I mentioned that the scope may be bad or it may be a technique thing or could just be pellet selection.

So after a bit of yakking inside, we went to the range by my shop and I put 3 pellets on top of each other at 20 or so yards with that Gamo. OK..so the scope is good. Made a minor adjustment to windage and handed the kid the gun and after a little coaching on technique, he was reliably hitting small spinners at various ranges and even a welding tank cylinder cap at 50 yards with his gun. Just needed a little coaching on technique and the right pellets. Seeing his face light up when he made the first of what amounted to MANY hits was exceedingly rewarding for me. His dad jokingly said earlier to him 'maybe you just suck' after seeing me stack a few pellets...and in fact, it turned out that it was the pellets he was using that sucked rather than him...haha

They both were brand new to PCP's and had done their research on them. They have a couple Notos on order and are awaiting them. Good choice, I think so we shot my Notos a bit later to show them what they were getting. I went through a little 'class' on PCP's in general and had them shooting a few, up to a Texan 457, which was great to see as neither had actually seen a big bore except in videos. Was good to 'break in' a new airgunner and offer some knowledge. Very rewarding for me and they seemed to enjoy it as well!

Hopefully when the weather is better (was a bit nipply out today), we can get together again for more shooting and we'll shoot even more guns this time.

If there is a point to this post, I guess it would be we should share our knowledge and experience any chance we get. Not only does it help ensure the future of shooting sports by lessening frustration from simple things such as using 'pellets that suck', but also is just fun and rewarding.

Is it rude to barter?

So I am looking and very interested in something a member has on here but he also has a second item that is slightly appealing. Is it viewed as rude if I were to ask for a better price if I were to take both? Generally when people sell cars and such they account for some wiggle room, didn't know if that is also the case with these kind of items?

Am I Chasing The Impossible? A True Return To Zero QD Mount?

I went hunting the other day, and I saw the perfect squirrel around 75 yards away, so I thought this would be a no brainer shot with my FX Maverick VP .30cal and my ATN X-Sight 5 5-25x LRF Scope. My groups with the FX Hybrid slugs at 100 yards are just over an inch, so I was not too concerned about my ability to take this shot, so I took my time and let the slug fly for a certain heart/lung shot that I'm so fond of.

To my surprise, I was not awarded with the thwack I've heard countless times before, and the squirrel seemed not the least bothered by my attempt to take his life in exchange for a place on my dinner table. So, now I'm second guessing myself. There is a slight breeze from east to west, so I decided to hold for wind 3 mil, and to my surprize and disgust, a brach just to the left of the squirrel's head exploded into splinters! That's it, I'm calling it for the day, as something is clearly wrong with my setup, but what was it?

  • Did my new DonnyFL QD mount fail me in some way?
  • Did I accidentally bump the barrel while I was maneuvering through the woods?
  • Did my ATN Scope go belly up and not hold zero because of another bug I've uncovered?
20230908_105622.jpg

ATN X-Sight 5 on the Maverick, with the X-Sight 4 and THOR 4 scopes in the foreground, all wearing ATN QD mounts.

After loading up the video of the shot in my video editing software, I conformed the 120fps footage to 24fps, and then added additional slo-mo effects to get this shot as slow as possible. Again, I am completely dumbfounded! How is it possible that I'm so far off on the horizontal (just under 5 inches by the looks of it), but my Ballistic Calculator has got the much harder horizontal axis exactly where it should be?

And then it hit me like a ton of bricks! I was awakened a few weeks ago with something walking on my roof in the middle of the night. Thinking this was either the Delta Force rappleing in because the country needs my help, or it was another pesky raccoon! With the sure money on a raccoon, I swapped out my ATN X-Sight 5 scope for my THOR 4 thermal scope on my Maverick. With no sight of a trash panda, I swapped the X-Sight 5 back in, and went to bed.

I am now convinced that the ATN QD mounts claim for return to zero are exaggerated, or are they really? What is considered proper performance for a QD mount that is true return to zero rated?

Can I expect 1/4 MOA repeatability at 100 yards with one of these pricy return to zero QD mounts like the Scalarworks or LaRue mounts below? Has anyone been able to achieve the repeatability levels I'm after with a QD mounted scope?

Screenshot 2023-12-29 024222.jpg
Screenshot 2023-12-29 024243.jpg

Or am I chasing a unicorn, and the only way to repeatably hit a 50 cent piece at 100 yards after detaching and reattaching my scopes with QD mounts is to do a zero afterwards?

Thanks so much for your time and input!!!

FX  FX Impact MKII

I took out my old outdated MKII in .25cal from the safe today. Due to some health issues and work I had not shot this rifle in approximately 15 or 16 months. Both both regs were sitting where I had them set and the NSA 34gr slug hit where I had the cross hairs aimed at 55 yards. Maybe I don't need to buy the latest and greatest after all.

N/A  Did you yourself an Airgun for Christmas?

Wondering if anyone else used the holidays as an excuse to buy another airgun for their collection? I did, bought two Webley rifles. First one was a Mk3, and the second was a MK2 version 3 Service rifle. Guess I need to find a MK1. I feel luck to found both these rifles in collector grade. Cannot wait to shot them once I get back home.

Traditional Rifle  NLA Beeman R9 .177 or .22 Take you pick

Lots of people wanted pics but no takers.

I think I will just keep them. They’re too nice and shoot too good.

I have ended up with a mint R9 in .177 and .22 and I'm going to sell one of the two.

The .177 has a Macarri upgrade in it. The .22 came from Flying Dragons and Mike did his magic to it before he shipped it.

Both guns are in great condition!! Whichever sells first I will keep the other one. They are both equally accurate.

I'm asking $425.00 shipped to the lower 48. Scope not included. If you want pics PM me and I will send them to you. You will be pleased with either gun.

I've bought and sold many airguns on this forum.

Other  I'm Gettin' A Hankerin'

I'm gettin' a hankerin' for a new airgun. (look it up if you don't know what a hankerin' is) I own an FX Impact M3 .25 cal. 600mm barrel. It's pretty much stock except for bolt-ons. I shoot targets and spinners, etc. only - not a hunter. Most of my shooting is behind my workshop being, 30~65 yards. I want to stretch my legs - and abilities a little and I'm thinking about a .30 cal. slugger for 100+ yard fun and competition. I'm considering BRK Ghost, AGT Vulcan 3 and RAW HM1000X - and open to others.Thought about a Panthera but afraid it might come with pretty much the same issues/challenges that my Impact M3 has. I like my M3 but as we all know it's a tinkerer's delight so I get my fill of tinkering and adjusting with it. Also, opinions on caliber are welcomed. I figured .30 for outdoor long range might be best. Air and shot count are not an issue. As my signature says, "hole-in-hole is the goal." So, your thoughts? (or wait around for something that may be coming soon? :sneaky:)
