Hunted countless pigeons on my uncle's farm with a Daisy back in the 60's then moved away and no air guns until the 90's when I bought 10 acres in the country and battled non-native American birds with a Diana model 52 and 34. Moved again and no air guns until I retired now and renewed my interest. I do have lots of smokeless and black powder experience over all those years though. Deer were getting too heavy to carry out of the woods so we started hunting squirrels with .22LR and THAT is what rekindled my interest in air guns.

Bought a Gamo Swarm Whisper .177 and practiced in my basement until I read more on this forum and others and then bought a Gamo Swarm Viper .22 on sale. I just extended my 13 yard indoor range to 25 yard outdoor and shot about a 10 shot quarter size group from the Viper (benchrest) with Gamo Red Fire pellets which is pretty good for me!

I was trying to decide what forum to join when I saw the @orangeokie post of his Daystate Huntsman Regal (or is it a Revere?). That rifle is beautiful. That is what I want when I move up to PCP.

So my first two questions:
1. I tried TS-22s, Crossman Premier Round Nose, Meisterkugeln, and the Red Fires. The TS-22s and Meisterkugelns were not accurate. The Crossmans were accurate at 13 Yards but a pretty big group at 25 yards. Is there another 22 pellet I should try in the Viper?
2. I live in southern Ohio. I there anyplace I could go within a few hundred miles (I am retired) and actually hold one of the Daystate Huntsmans in my hands?

34 with no to1 markings from a friend of mine, it has set in the corner for years broken and begging to be repaired. Well today it received a new lease on life! Replaced spring and seal from vortek and it is now back in service! Previous owner did a not so great finish on the stock but it functions well. Haven’t run it across a chronograph but the owner is happy to see it shooting again.

Dreamline Lite tube, 600mm barrel in great condition. Comes with 2 OEM magazines, speed loader and a hard case. Will come with 1 new tin of JSB 25.39 domed pellets.

Which one would you buy between the two and why? I'm considering one or the other and would like to hear some input.

Traded in my Delta Wolf for a new .22 HP Ghost. Just set it up with a PARD DS 35 50. Also a new BR 4 Accutac bipod. I just wasn’t using all the features of the Delta Wolf. Plus I went to go ratting one night, and after I got to the farm, I realized my battery was just about dead. That was it. I really wanted the non- electric Ghost anyways the first time I saw it. Tomorrow I’ll sight in the PARD and get ready for the rats. I’ll be shooting the 25.4 JSB MRD’s from it, like I did with the Delta. AoA tests shots showed it averaging 966 FPS. Same as I had the Delta Wolf shooting.

Got a couple buddies stopping by this week end to try new extended range . They are in for a shock. None of this 35, 45 , 55, and 85 yd crap. Handing them 3 paintballs glued to cardboard and marching them out to 100 yds to setup. Wearing my "Do not play well with others " tee shirt. Lol.

Please don’t shoot at them. I watched a pellet come back after a fellow shooter HAD to put one out at 50 yards. He was shooting a magnum powered break barrel .22. His bench was a good 20 feet away from me. We both lucked out that day.

So. Having more and more fun shooting the .22 Marauder that the hand pump is becoming tiresome. I am thinking about ordering a Yong Heng compressor and a portable tank.

1. If I order the compressor, is the auto stop verson (329 vs 289) worth the extra 40 bucks for either safety or efficiency?
2. What else do I need to order( line, fittings, oil, moisture filter ...)?
3. recommended tank other than the branded Benjamin tank?

I know this topic has been beat in the ground over and over. Gee.......pictures of my Sniper HR have appeared in this forum more than Taylor Swift at a KC Chiefs game. I have bought and sold many airguns , some high end some , not so..........but after owning this particular gun for over 5 years..( I bought it from Trenier in 2018 as my retirement gift to myself). I don't hunt ; but when an athletic squirrel defeats the baffle on our feeders , it's lights out. My set up is 38 yards from the feeders and there is less than 1/2" between a clean humane kill and destroying the bird feeder. Needless to say , this gun is zeroed at 38 yards with JTS 18.1 gr pellets. I got it out of the safe today and aired it up to 250 bar , and shot a string over the chrony...............high - 870 low - 865 es - 5 sd - 1 . I rest my case.

I have a Diana 34 but I’ve been thinking about jumping into the PCP world for a few years now. At first I thought about getting a marauder to start. Seems like a decent entry level gun but here lately I’ve been thinking about just going all out and getting an FX impact or maverick. I know nothing about tuning or any of that. It’d mainly be for paper punching (at distance) and pest control (short distance). Money isn’t an issue but curious if I’d be getting in over my head with an FX. I’d like to get something in .25 or .30 cal. Any insight, suggestions, advice, or recommendations would be appreciated.

Would it help at all to stuff some sound deadening foam or fabric in the open area of the shroud, especially with a big vented air stripper?

I know the expansion area in front of the muzzle makes most of the difference, but im making an air stripper that will be dumping the initial blast backwards into the shroud and making chambers in the rear section of the shroud for the air to foil through.

Would putting felt or something in those chambers reduce the DBs any more than just venting the air into those chambers?

I had to shoot several times to finally be able to eliminate the iguana because today I was shooting with my less powerful, first gen .22 cal Avenger and the lightweight 14.13 grains crosman ultra magnum pellets. Not the best setup to hunt them because they have a extremely hard skin. If I had been shooting with the 15.99 grains hades hunting pellets or with one of my others more powerful Avenge-X .25 cal with the FX atomic 26.6 grains pellets I would have dispatched her with a single shot to her head. I recorded a video during the hunt.

Just did the first 4 color print with the automatic filament change system. Surely som US shooter will think that is nice.... Printer is Bambulab P1S prints like that 30 minutes after i opened the box. Just speechless.. so easy. And no i am not trying to sell anything or promote Bambulab just amazed that it can be so easy.....

Hope this is ok to post here. It may be better suited in the classifieds, but since I do not have the guns to 'sell' I chose to post here. I have a buddy who was into airguns for a bit. Ended up getting a Matador long and a Leyla, big tank, fittings for the tank, etc.
He is now looking to get out of airguns and reached out to me.

He's not very computer savvy and is not a member of any forums. I have shot the guns and can vouch they are real and were working perfectly a few years ago last I shot them, but that's really all I can say about them. I dont even recall what calibers they were, but likely .22 or .25.

I'm wondering, how big is the force when you accidentely shoot a beefy pcp with the bolt not locked in the vertical slot?

I'm sure it will slam backwards, but how hard?
