Pest control - RAW HM1000x or FX Crown

This is my first dive into airgun, so I apologize if my language here is not yet 100% there yet… I’m in need of an airgun for some urban pest control (25 to 50 yards in my backyard, pest are small birds), but I would also like to stretch it out to 150+ yds for target shooting in a PRS type environment… I’m all about centerfire and rimfire rifles, but given this pest control I need to do is in my backyard (urban area) I think an airgun is the perfect solution, and that my main driver and main objective here.

I’ve done some research and apparently the RAW HM1000x and the FX Crown in 22cal may fit the bill perfectly, hence those are my 2 main options right now.

Would you agree? Would a .25cal be better suited for the task at hand? Would I be able to use a moderator to tame down the sound?

Thanks in advance guys! 👍🏻

Previous buyer flaked out and never paid so everything is already packed and ready for a shipping label.

SHIPPING NOTE: you will need to email me a shipping label. This is the best way to accommodate shipping as you choose the type, manner, & insurance specifics for the shipment. Additionally if a claim needs to be filed for any reason you will be the payee for that rather than trusting that I will reimburse you. It is simple enough to create a USPS/Fedex/UPS shipping label online and email that to me.

You’re welcome to call or text me at 847.715.6944 is you have any questions or would like to discuss working a deal.

Repurposed my FX Panthera Rail

The factory rail was terrible on the Panthera .. borderline criminal given the interference issue that shifted my POI as much as 0.8MILs at 50y when my bipod was mounted on the far end of my 700mm 22cal.

The original Leshiy is still my favorite PCP of all, but I liked the minimalistic Weaver rail on it. I pest starlings and critters with it daily shooting offhand, but it's always been way too light up front to be able to hold on target through the long trigger pull. I run a 3MOA red dot on it with a 3x magnifier, but I also tend to use my PVS-14 in place of the magnifier at night, and I've needed a better solution for extra rail space to run my Luna ELIR-3 and thermal monocular. I actually prefer these over the NOX18 thermal, because it gives me both thermal spotting and identification with the i2 analog NV using my L3 PVS-14 (that way I don't shoot my kitty cat in the backyard at night).

I modified and fabricated a few different hand rails for it, but wasn't thrilled with any of them. Realized the Panthera rail fits flush with the Leshiy and the top bridge fits perfectly around my shroud extension. Had to mill a little bit of material off of the Magpul AFG, and I also milled an aluminum Pic rail down so that slides into the AFG and slots into the bottom of the rail's M-LOK slot.

The rail stays in place nice and sturdy on its own (like a press fit), but I also used (2) set screws on the canted sides of the bridge to pin it down. Threw on some lightweight MOE rails and another light aluminum Pic railnthat I had with rounded corners for the front-left rail, which gives me just enough clearance to fold the stock flush.

Very happy with it. It's a hell of a lot more solid now than it was on the Panthera. The forward weight makes it sooooo much easier to control my shots (CG is right at the trigger).

Bipod, sled or sand bags?

What is your favorite setup and why? I can see next pros and cons:

1. Bipod apparently more mobile, smaller, so more versatile and convenient.
2. Sled is more stable, precise and probably better to sight in new scope, but bulkier. Plus, airguns have almost no recoil comparing to firearm, so probably overkill.
3. Sand bags are cheaper.

What are your thoughts?

  • Question
FX  Panthera puff of air

Hello. I have a question about the the fx panthera more specifically the little hole on the right side of the gun next to the action I've had this Gun for a while now and I just switched the reg out to a huma regulator and when I gassed it back up and took a few dry fires I noticed a pretty decent puff of air coming out of that little hole so I don't know if it's just me or if I have a blown oring so any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Here is a picture for reference

Goodwill donation

Not the organization, just personally donating to an organization that introduces air guns to kids in a situation that has a minimal cash position. How’s that for elite level BS! lol! Seriously, I had a Diana bandit listed, and dropped the price so much, still no takers, so I thought “hell, I’ll just give it to a kid that will love it . So I contacted one eye joe, for his name - flat broke airgunner. He has a cool mission. So I said eff it. I’m donating. Sorry for the rambling, tough work day to end my 40.

FX  Here I am again

Ok, looking for a fun, which is subjective, grant you, compact rifle. The brocock atomic or ranger is a pistol carbine. I’m thinking a gasp 😱 FX Dreamtac compact. lol! Yes, I’m hesitant with FX only because of the multiple failure points- hypothetically! Many o rings, tendency for grub screws to work loose. Whatever, I had one that was fun, like almost all are. Is there any real contender in 22, that can shoot hades/ polymags in the mags, AND match the price point. The AAA mini is boss, but it’s a grand more. Who else matches the specs and delivers for price? TIA.

Traditional Rifle  WTS TX200 Walnut. 177 $650

Looking to sell my tx200 or possibly trade for a Prosport if anyone is interested

Asking $650 shipped

It does have a scratch from trying mount a scope and it slip off and what seems like a small indentation in stock but other than that it's like new.

I ordered this gun as a 22 and it came with a 177 barrel but the markings on the gun say it's a 5.5mm/22 cal but it's definitely a 177 barrel on a new gun. I hardly shot it just a handful of times but 177 isn't really my style.

The scope is not included but i do have a soft case for it.

EVERY piece is here. Excellent condition except for scratch on buttstock. $200.00 shipped to you within CONTUS. Has two mags

Newish Member - First Time Posting

Hi Everybody,

My name is Dillon Treloar. I've been shooting airguns for quite a while and finally decided to create my own profile and start posting on Airgunnation.

I lived in Arizona most of my life but moved to Minnesota in the last few years to marry my beautiful wife. I recently became a member of the Oakdale Gun Club in Oakdale, MN where they have a fantastic field target course. I enjoy all types of shooting, I love to hunt and compete in both benchrest and field target.

Some of the guns I own are...

JSB MARK II @ 1030

Yeah, I know that is WAY too fast. Should be spiralling like bent drill bit!
Shooting slugs thru my Huben @960, end of your nose accurate.
Let's try some Mark II, but I don't want mess with the tune. Let's just see if and what it shoots. On the dot accurate @ 90 yds.
I don't see spiralling. Am I just pushing past the skirts range to wobble? ( aeronautical term.)
Sound like a 22 rim and hits like it to! It hits head first, no hourglass hit. If I weren't just messing around, I'd slow her down to the big 900.

Wood stock V Laminate stock V Synthetic stock V Metal stock

Okay all you wizards of air - looks set aside, which material is the best for our air rifles?

Before you start peeing on each other’s legs with emotional drivel, which is amusing, can you back up your claim?

I’ve heard that the metal chassis stocks “have no soul”. I’ve heard that “plastic stocks will never make serious shooters”. I’ve heard that “wood stocks are just too heavy”.
Me personally - I drool over natures wild wood grain patterns even though I’ve never won the cool wood stock lottery. But I also enjoy a light weight rifle that a little marring doesn’t hurt. It would seem to me that a high degree of adjustability would really improve ANY stock.
