PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Panthera 500, .22 cal

*** SOLD ***

I bought this gun used last Fall from Airguns of Arizona. Haven't really shot it much as we haven't really bonded. Don't like the feel/form factor. Give me a Crown in a GRS stock and I'm happy as a pig in slop. But this gun is no Crown wearing a GRS stock.

Took some 50 yard shots with it this morning. The on-target performance shows that I'm not much of a marksman, and that I'm not all that comfortable over the gun. Only one screw up on my part though, where the trigger broke earlier than I was expecting. Trigger has been set up by previous owner as pretty much a light, clean single stage.

Gun comes with 5 each FX magazines, a single shot tray and a CARM single shot loader (the latter being my preference). Plus the owner's manual and the OEM FX hard case.

Gun is in very good condition, but has some little marks on it courtesy of the previous owner. I've tried to show all of them which I see in the photos below. And it looks like it is missing 2 bolts from under the barricade block? Don't know what's up with that.

Price is $1,400 shipped to an address in the CONUS, with payment via PayPal Friends and Family (the only form of electronic payment I have).

Thanks for looking,
Tom

EDIT: Not really looking for trades, but you can always offer. I have been thinking about maybe wanting to try a full size Sidewinder in .22 or .25...

Other  Diana/ Daystate Raptor Revolver?

AoA has 4” and 6” models of the Diana Raptor .177 pellet revolver, as per AoA’s website the gun is manufactured by Daystate.

Anyone have any experience with these? Seem to use the same moon clip type pellet carriers as the Gamo revolver, but unsure of compatibility.

Is this gonna be about as close as you can get to a Umarex 586, but in a Python?

Daystate rifles seem to have a solid reputation, could you expect close to the same quality of manufacture at this sub $200 price point?

AEA  Bintac T9

Edit to add: I've shot 900 pellets now in this T9. It really likes JSB Diabolo and Hades, almost no issues with these. Will have to wait for the proper bintac certified slugs to be made for it. I was just shooting at 20 yards with it and it's a fun pistol to play with!

So I just got my bintac T9. Seemed like something fun to play with. The only time I can get it to fire a full mag in semi auto is if the pressure isn't all the way up to 4500psi. At full pressure after the first shot it won't reload, I have to pull the charging handle back to chamber another pellet. It seems to work better if you don't try and rapid fire it. It also doesn't fit very many kinds of slugs since the magazine is so narrow.

I have 7 kinds of slugs in .357. Most won't fit. I have some zan slugs that fit great but it won't cycle them correctly. I bought some texoma T9 pellets but they are too long for the magazine, I tried filing them down but no luck. Polymags are way too long. I got the best results with pellets. The JSB hades and exact .35 pellets worked better, but the only thing that would fire reliably was the pellets that were included with the gun, they don't have a brand on them.

I did figure out that if you have a threaded western rattler adapter from donnyFL it will thread on to the T9 barrel and let you use a moderator. The threaded rattler shroud screws on also. I'm going to test DB readings in a couple days.

When the thing fires correctly it's pretty accurate at 15 yards, I haven't tried it at any distance yet. I seem to get 16 shots from 4500psi, but the first 8 are a headache having to pull the handle back and try not to double chamber rounds. After 16 shots I was down to around 150 bar.

Just thought I would share. :D I've only shot about 4 mags through it so maybe I'll get it dialed in and figure out why it won't work in semi auto at full pressure.

HW/Weihrauch  HW80/R1 Soft tune by cutting factory spring?

I was thinking of trying a soft tune kit for an R1 carbine that’s in need of attention. I happen to have new original spec seals and a factory spring in my parts collection. Can I achieve something close to 12 ftlbs and a softer shooting gun by cutting the new factory spring? If so what would be a good starting point a far as number of coils to remove? Am I totally off base here and need a different wire diameter to achieve my desired results? Thanks in advance for any experienced opinions.

Problem with elevation turret, brand new Athlon Ares

Hi all. I just received a brand new Athlon Ares ETR 3-18x50. It was purchased along with a bel ghost. The shop set it up and zeroed at 20 yards. When the shipment arrived to me it was shooting about 3’ low from point of aim at 30 yards. Pressure is showing ok. The fps from my chrono match their sheet. I attempted to adjust the elevation turret to zero the scope thinking maybe it got jarred in shipping. I for the life of me can’t get the elevation turret to turn. The windage turret turns smooth and crisp with ease.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong with the elevation turret? I also called the supplier and walked through a couple steps with no success. They suggested calling Athlon Monday when they open, but I was hoping someone here may have ran into a similar issue before and have advice for me.

I'm struggling to decide between a .30 Impact M3 or a .30 Panthera.

The only reason I'm leaning twoards the Panthera is because of the cross-compatability with Wildcat/Maverick magazines which I have several of already.

I like the range of modifications for the Impact, as well as the bullpup style action vs the Panthera's traditional style action that's directly above the trigger.

I'm primarily a benchrest shooter but do a little bit of hunting too. I've never owned a dedicated .30 airgun and I'm just interested in shooting slugs, not pellets. My desired FPS is ~900fps for hunting over longer distances.

If you were buying a new PCP which would you choose and why?

JSB .22 20.83g MRD Light

I just received a bunch of tins of these new MRD “Lights” today.

I’m hopeful that they are a good match with DS Wolverine R HP. It shoots both the 18.13g and 25.39g very well, but I have a feeling that 21g should be about perfect velocity-wise…

…. I’ll post results when I get a decent wind day.
