JTS  Bolt catch snapped

Picsart_24-06-08_14-41-46-893.jpg

So I purchased a heavy hammer spring for my airicuda and I'd say it was a little to heavy. Backed all the way out it did shoot faster for the first 5 shots but then I went to cock it back and SNAP POW something sounded broken bolt went limp. Took it apart and seen that the little piece that pulls the hammer back ofcourse to my luck had snapped. I'm working with the guy who sold me the spring he says he can make a stainless piece that threads in but I don't see any threads. Anyone have any idea how I could fix this? Jb weld maybe?

UPDATE!!
I've removed the broken screw from the threads with an easy out bit #1
Alien Airguns on eBay is going to send a reinforced replacement pin bolt catch thingy. Shout out to that guy.🤘

“Right” vs “Left” hand actions-why aren’t they swapped??

Just for background, I’m a lifelong shooter and I’m right handed but left eye dominant so I’m already a “mixed bag” but especially when it comes to air guns with side levers and bull pups with linkages, it seems like a lot of the actions out there would actually work far better “reversed”. There are a few(my Uragan is a good example) that are already set up this way, but I’ve always favored maintaining a shooting grip and a cheek weld behind the optic as much as possible. Obviously on the firearms side these principles weren’t prevalent when the common designs like bolt actions were developed, but with all the more modern airgun actions like side levers and linkages it seems like a better “right handed” set-up would be a lever on the left side and maybe more forward so the shooting hand can stay on the grip and the eye can stay behind the optic while the support hand works the action. There are a few designs out there like the Uragan and the Notos but other than “tradition” and familiarity, are there any really good reasons that aren’t occurring to me why left sided(and forward) action levers haven’t become more standard for right handed shooters?

FX  FX Maverick .22 settings ....a little help needed .

Hello , I have a Maverick VP , .22 cal with a 600mm heavy liner to shoot slugs .I put a power kit with a 14 grams hammer . After changing many times the hammer weight, regs pressures , preload screw lenght...I'm a bit lost and it seems that all these changes put the system out of balance. Actually my 1st reg is on 130 bars , 2d reg on 120 bars , hammer weight 14 grams and preload screw is 6mm out. Despite this I cant' achieve the correct speed to shoot 30 grs slugs , which should be around 930-950 Ft/s . Moreover , when I decrease the hammer power wheel the speed increases ......something must be wrong , but I don't understand what . Thanks for your help .

Shipping to California, PCP air rifles?

I'm from California, and sometime in the last 2 years something has happened. Nobody (Amazon, Walmart, EBay, AirGun Depot, and Ima through Bug-a-salt in there too because I could not but the grey one) is willing to, or they cannot ship me for reasons none of them (except big-a-salt) seem to know. I'm trying to figure out what law or new mass punishment my state has imposed on me and everyone. I have entered multiple address, within Southern California, and the aforementioned companies still deny me. Does anybody know what is going on? I'm not happy and I want to know whose fault this is. lol! I want to write a strongly worded letter (nothing scary or illegal) to it or them.

Other  Advice on first pcp

I'm looking to get my first pcp. This gun will be solely for pest control. 35 yards max rabbits and chipmunks. I want a PCP because I am hesitant to mount my sightmark wraith nightvision scope on my break barrel. I'm leaning towards a umarex notos. For the price are there any other guns I should consider? I also plan on hand pumping as I plan to shoot less than 50 shots per year. Any advice for hand pumping? And as far as cleaning the barrel, do I need to use special cleaning solvents or flip the gun upside down when cleaning? I don't want to ruin anything.

Diana  Which is a Better 10 Meter Air Rifle and Why do you think so Pls? Diana 75 or Walther LG55 Tyrolean stock

Hey Guys,

Please help me decide between these two great rifles. I cannot afford both. I am weighing the differences between Diana 75 and Walther LG55 with a Tyrolean stock.

Over the years I have used the Diana side cocking platform considerably, First I purchased a model 48. Then a recoiless 54 Air King (easy 1 hole accuracry) with 6x24 scope. Sold Air King 54 (mistake) . There is a gentleman offering Walther LG55 witha Tyrolean stock It is very lovely and very pricey. Another fine gentleman has Diana 75 for $ale, the co$t i$ le$$ then the Wather LG55? Any suggesstions, insights and/or personal experiences accummulated by usage are all welcome.

Thank you guys -- I know there are a few a very "accommplished" 10 Meter shooters. luring around here Again Thank you
Kindest Regards,

Randy

Other  Modern day Girardoni ? Or “The Frontiersman Air rifle”

After watching this video I wonder why we don’t see a modern version of this? A self sufficient frontiersman air rifle seems like it would do well in this day in time with SHTF discussed so frequently. Combine that with hunters and hikers seems like it would be popular.

500fps
45 cal
800psi
Easy hand pumping.

If there is currently anything that checks some of the above boxes above list them.

Functional versus Superior Quality: Finding Value in Airgunning

Hello Airgun Nation community,

I recently embarked on the exciting journey of airgunning and have been thoroughly enjoying every moment. As a newcomer, I find myself constantly weighing the merits of investing in higher-quality equipment versus starting with more affordable options. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic.

From the outset, I’ve been inclined to spend more money and time learning to use the best-manufactured equipment available. My reasoning is rooted in a few key observations:

1. Quality and Reliability: In my short time in the sport, I’ve found that lower-end equipment often comes with questionable quality and reliability. Issues like inconsistent performance, frequent malfunctions, and a lack of precision can detract from the overall experience and learning process.
2. Long-term Value: While the initial cost of superior equipment can be daunting, the lasting value they provide seems to justify the investment. High-quality airguns and accessories not only perform better but also tend to have longer lifespans, reducing the need for frequent replacements or upgrades.
3. Learning Curve: Starting with better equipment can also enhance the learning experience. Precision and consistency in performance allow for a more accurate assessment of one’s skills and progress, making it easier to identify areas for improvement without second-guessing if the issue lies with the equipment.

However, I understand that everyone’s situation and preferences are different. For those who started with more affordable equipment, what were your experiences? Did you find that upgrading to higher-quality gear significantly improved your enjoyment and performance? Or did starting with budget options help you appreciate the nuances of superior equipment later on?

I’d also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the veterans of this sport on these forums. Your wealth of knowledge and willingness to share your experiences have been incredibly valuable to newcomers like myself. Your insights and advice help shape our understanding and appreciation of airgunning, making it a more enriching and enjoyable pursuit for all.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences on balancing functionality and quality in airgunning. Do you think it’s worth investing in superior equipment from the start, or is there value in beginning with functional, inexpensive options?

Thank you!
