How Did You Get Started - Tell Your Story!

I’ve been around guns since I was a kid, starting with a Daisy BB gun. Over the years I’ve owned plenty of others—too many to list—and none of them especially matter for this story.

During COVID, when ammo was nearly impossible to find, I picked up a CO₂ Crosman 2300S pistol on Amazon. Honestly, it was part boredom, part curiosity. I’d never shot a CO₂ gun before, but for around $350 it felt like a low-risk gamble. Pellets were cheap, I could shoot in my backyard, and I wouldn’t have a fortune tied up in it. So, I grabbed a box of CO₂ cartridges and a tin of 500 pellets, figuring those would last me forever.

My first thought was: what am I doing with a .177 single-shot pellet pistol? No power, no rapid fire, no “Tim the Tool Man” grunt factor. Sure, it had a Lothar Walther barrel, but at the time that didn’t mean much to me. I figured if it was a dud, at least I hadn’t lost much.

Then it arrived. One afternoon I unboxed it, slipped in a pellet, and—open sights, one hand, from 50 feet—I was smacking tin cans. And I hadn’t shot in years. I was floored. That little pistol was accurate. Before I knew it, that “lifetime supply” of pellets started disappearing fast.

That was it—I was hooked. Fell straight down the rabbit hole. Since then, I’ve been shooting airguns at local ranges, side by side with the powder-burner guys in bullseye matches, benchrest, and more. I’m not out there to beat them, just to enjoy myself.

This past spring I even bought a .22LR benchrest rifle, shot three matches with it, cleaned it, and put it away—right back to my air rifles. But that’s a story for another day.

I’m curious: How did you first get into airguns?

I think your stories would be interesting.

Reticle questions

I'm looking for a new 4-16 ish range scope and was looking at Athlon reticles, along with others and it hit me. Does anyone really use al those tiny graduations on the reticle. I mean 1/2 mildot is ok, and I would say 5 moa marks are plenty don't you think? I'm beginning to hate Christmas tree reticles, as they are just too busy for me, especially the dot trees, the crossbar trees are better, but overkill in my mind.

I'd like to see a reticle similar to Hawke's AMX, but with a tiny bit thicker crosshairs and a very thin center cross or small dot. Vector Veyron 10x44 has a reticle similar to this also.

What's your preference for reticles?

Air Arms  ProSport Trigger Adjustment - Fires when safety disengaged.

Our ProSport has developed the tendency to fire sometimes when I disengage the safety. It doesn't happen all of the time. Just every now and then.

I don't want to go dinking around with the trigger a lot since I've never adjusted a trigger before, and the manual says if you don't know what you're doing, to take it to somebody who does. And I'm happy enough with the trigger as it is; though it is a bit lighter than I'd like.

Question: If I adjust the Trigger Weight Spring (behind the trigger), turning it maybe ~1/4 turn clockwise, would that likely remedy this situation without making it necessary for me to adjust the other two adjustment screws?

It looks to me like it would; but I don't want to screw things up and make it worse than it is.

FX  FX Impact M4 Extended .25 (6.35mm) with Element Helix scope - Sighting-in issue

Hello everyone,

I'm seeking some advice regarding an issue I'm having while zeroing my air rifle.

I have an FX Impact M4 Extended in 6.35mm (.25 caliber), fitted with an Element Helix Gen2 6-24x50 FFP riflescope. I'm trying to zero the scope at a distance of 25 meters.

The problem is that my shots are consistently hitting high and to the right of my point of aim. I've managed to correct the windage (horizontal adjustment) successfully, and my shots are now on the same vertical line as the target. However, I can't adjust the elevation (vertical adjustment) enough. The scope's elevation turret has reached its upper limit, and I'm still hitting approximately 8 steps (clicks) too high.

This means that to hit the bullseye, I have to aim 8 clicks below the center of the reticle, which is obviously not ideal.

I've already checked the scope's mounting rings for proper alignment and tightness, and everything seems to be secure.

Is this a known issue with the FX Impact M4, or with the combination of this rifle and scope? Am I missing a fundamental step in the zeroing process? Any tips or insights from people with a similar setup would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards, Dutch.

Other  The Falcon FN-12 custom comes through again

Having been suffering far too much stress for far too long lately, much at the expense of my shooting, as the sun approached the horizon tonight I realized not only that the wind had laid almost completely, but I actually had a little time to SHOOT for a change! 😃 Didn't take long to decide what to shoot; something just for pure pleasure, that never fails to please-

FN12 w 16X.jpg

While charging Lovely Lucille I decided she might as well be zeroed at 50 yards, since that's the only range I ever shoot her anyway (and always from sand-bagged bench-rest). For some inexplicable reason I've always kept her sighted 1" low at 50, which is where my first group went tonight (as usual, like clockwork).

The fantastic, Japanese made Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16X rifle scope having 1/8 MOA turret adjustments, it takes me a few adjustments to acclimate from 1/4 MOA clicking. But with each five-shot group and subsequent scope adjustment I also reacclimated to the custom Falcon's unique trigger, ergonomics, balance, and firing behavior. Consequently group sizes shrank as the exercise progressed, all while shooting light faded.

Five consecutive five-shot groups at 50 yards averaged .81" center-to-center. The 4th group, though not yet quite perfectly zeroed, might be the best air-pistol group I've ever gotten at 50, measuring .31" c-t-c-

Gratifying as these results are, they're ever more-so considering I resurrected this jewel from near death at the hands of a professional package-handling goon. Here's that back-story-

Happy Shooting, Y'all! 😊

Zbroia  Zbroia Kozak Fc-2

Hello.

Do anyone here own a "Zbroia Kozak Fc2"?

I'm particularly interested in the short (450mm barrel) version in .22.

What's the quality and shooting performance/shot count like?

How loud is the rifle without an additional silencer?

I'm also interested in how easy it is to tune the rifle (regulator settings/hammer spring).

Thank you. 🙏

AirMaks Arms  Can a 280mm barrel be accurate?

Not sure about all of them, but if it’s a Cz barrel and attached to a Airmaks Katran CB, it definitely can. This rifle is sighted in with 16gr JTS, but I had ordered some 18gr JTS to try because the 16’s were so good. Turns out this rifle will shoot either of them with laser like accuracy! Even better, I’ve got it tuned down to 24-25 FPE for more shots than a man needs. 40 Yards and 5 shots from sandbags on the bench, but who cares, it’s 280mm!

PCP Rifle  NLA FX Panthera Express .25 cal 700mm w/extras for trade

Curious what you’d trade. I’m looking for a Skout Epoch and FX LEOPARD as my primary trading contenders. Might sell for the right offer.
A nice FX Impact would catch my interest too. 300bar bottles, sekhmet gauge, Panthera rear bottle setup included, 2 mags.

STUD Launches the Eliminator 50-Round .22 Caliber Magazine Bundle for the FX Impact

Dual-Drive Chain-Feed with Feeder/Loader System Maximizes Efficiency in the Field

STUD, a leading innovator in precision airgun loading solutions, has announced the release of its newest breakthrough: the STUD Eliminator 50-Round Magazine for the FX Impact in .22 caliber. Purpose-built for pest control shooters, the Eliminator delivers more rounds per sequence while minimizing reload interruptions—keeping shooters on target longer when it matters most.

At the heart of the Eliminator is a chain-feed system driven by dual roller-bearing rotors. This advanced dual-drive technology maintains perfect chain tension, ensuring a smooth pellet path and highly reliable feeding. The result: consistent accuracy, less downtime, and longer uninterrupted shooting sessions.

The STUD Eliminator will be offered exclusively as a bundle, which includes:

  • 1 STUD Eliminator 50-Round Magazine
  • 1 STUD Feeder
  • (4) STUD Loaders

Extra Eliminator magazines will also be available separately for shooters who want multiple mags prepped and ready.

At this time, the STUD Eliminator will be released in .22 caliber for the FX Impact only.

“This bundle was designed to give shooters everything they need for extended, reliable performance,” said Doug Hepler, CEO of STUD. “For pest control work, fewer mag changes mean more hits between bird flights—making the Eliminator a true advantage in the field. The Stud loading system will save the user hours each week in loading time vs hand loading conventional mags".

Key Features of the STUD Eliminator Bundle:

  • 50-round capacity in .22 caliber for extended shooting sequences
  • Dual-drive chain-feed system powered by roller-bearing rotors
  • Feeder/Loader system for fast, efficient reloads

HW/Weihrauch  Enjoying the simpler side.

Yesterday they finally broke ground on my outbuilding/shop.
20250820_144031.jpg

I've been waiting three years to get one built. I'll finally have a proper shop/man cave. Unfortunately I temporarily lose my short range (<93 yard) shooting area.
20250820_144045.jpg

Today I simply changed direction (literally) and shot crushed soda cans with my peep sighted "Baby BB Gun". It's a 177 Hw30.
20250820_144013.jpg

The crushed cans make great reactive targets. They're a little smaller than a hocky puck and they jump backwards when hit. I shot them offhand until I missed them or they hopped somewhere I couldn't see them. Usually about 50 yards. I nearly emptied a full tin of Meisterkuglns today.
20250820_144023.jpg

It was a real hoot going back to silly random offhand plinking. It was good for my soul. If airguns aren't fun for you anymore I recommend getting back to the simpler side of things.

Be well.
Ron

FX  200 yards: FX Panthera, Element Nexus, ZAN Hyper Line, Stud, Accu-Tac, ST7.

It took a bit of effort, but I finally found the right settings and velocity. I tried 920, 930, 940 FPS. The BC didn’t change much, but the group size did. My Panthera liked the ELR Hyper Line best at +/- 920 FPS which resulted in a G1 BC of .23

New guy here, just saying hi

Hi,
I'm Dan, and just getting started here. My last name is probably pretty familiar here (Schofield). I'm just looking at getting those 10 posts behind me. I found this forum while looking for replacement co2 seals for my colt defender. I see there is someone here that sells them. Has anyone used those seals?
