Brocock/BRK  Need some help with a BRK atomic and hand pump

I acquired a .177 atomic late last year. Came pre charged, shot two mags out of it, checked for leaks and put away during the unexpected busy work season.

Now I came back to it, but can’t pump it to save my life with a four uncles hand pump. Pumps up just fine until the line builds pressure, then it’s impossible to pump any further. Tried cocking it, no difference. Pressure is slightly above 100 bar, not attempting to charge from zero. Unfortunately I bought the hand pump during Black Friday and it’s well out of the return window (if it’s even the pump that’s at fault). Have a notos and four uncles pump at my vacation home, so I’m not new to hand pumping and know what’s involved.

What could be the likely culprit here? Checked the cigarette filter, it’s not plugged. Unfortunately I don’t have another pcp, hand pump, or compressor to test further. I’m inclined to think it’s an issue with the pump. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Umarex  New Zelos Inbound!

Finally pulled the trigger and ordered a .22 Zelos from Not Just Guns in Mason, Michigan for $425.40 total shipped. Also ordered a Huben Zelos Bottle Regulator from Hajimoto Productions and a 580cc CF Bottle direct from Tuxing.

A couple of questions

Are the stock Magazines okay as to build quality and reliability or are there better aftermarket available?

Looking for recommendations on pellet choice for longer range shots out to 75-100 yards on Ground Squirrels. Hoping it will like the Daisy .22 PrecisionMax Hollowpoints that my Xisico Sentry shoots so well but they're pretty light for long shots, especially with any wind, @ just 15.27 grains.

Also, what's the most effective budget moderator to make the Zelos more stealthy without adding more than 4-5 inches to the overall length?

PCP Rifle  WTS RTI Prophet.177 price lowerex

Original prophet. Comes with two Orion mags. The yellow one jammed my gun but I got it fixed. The other one is brand new from Orion. Recently had serviced at Fox Air power with a new pellet probe and hammer I think. Not sure of fpe but guy I got it from said it like the 13.4 grainers. Haven’t shot for groups but no Little Rock was safe when I was shooting on a dirt road.
Donny included. Make it $925 shipped CONUS with Helix element sfp scope and 725 without

PCP Rifle  WTS RAW HM1000x Mini-Hunter .25 caliber

RAW .25Caliber Mini-Hunter

I purchased this gun in April of 2024 on the recommendation of my friends Rick Rhem and Jerry Kornfield. As a long distance bench shooter, I'm always interested in extraordinarily accurate guns that show great promise as bench platforms. Well, this little beauty did not disappoint. I was so impressed with its accuracy that I actually chose to shoot it in the100 yard pro field at RMAC in 2024. Although I did not manage to appear on the podium, the gun was certainly not the issue. This gun,is everything the average air gunner could want. The Mini-Hunter is light weight, tough as nails, supremely accurate and sips rather than guzzles air all while still delivering excellent energy on target. The only down side of this little gem is that it's loud. I mean, REALLY loud, like 96dbs! That little 16 inch barrel delivers quite a bark. However, in an effort to preserve what is left of my “old man” hearing, I added a Sonus 1350 suppressor which quiets it's bark to a respectable yelp. Additionally, as I have rather big hands, I added a larger Ergo palm rest grip which not only comfortably accommodates my larger hand but ads the stability of a palm rest for those that might choose to shoot the gun off-hand or use it as a truck gun. I also added a Grey Ops Arca rail which allows for M-lock picatinny 1913 rail attachments as well as Arca Swiss mounting. Lastly, since RAW does not supply cases with their guns, I needed to protect my investment. To that end I purchased a Vevor hard shell case from Amazon. This turned out to be the perfect storage and travel container, being both strong and light weight. So,whether you're shooting off-hand, off of a stick (mono-pod), tripod or like me off the bench, this little gun is showroom pristine and an ideal setup that will not disappoint.

My name is Brandon, and I am a retired sheriff's detective living in Riverside County, Southern California.

I have been shooting air rifles and firearms since I was 10 years old. Recently, I gave my Gamo .22 caliber springer rifle to my brother, as he was dealing with an invasion of tree squirrels on his property.

I am looking to buy my first PCP rifle as soon as possible. I recently moved to a new house with an acre lot that is plagued by gophers and a few rats behind my barn.

Additionally, I will assist my friends with their dairy farms in managing their vermin and pigeon pest problems so I believe a PCP rifle would be the best effective tool to use.

HW/Weihrauch  Is This the HW30s’ Biggest Weakness?

I’ve been really enjoying my HW30s — it’s a beautifully made rifle, incredibly smooth and just a joy to shoot. The craftsmanship overall is top-notch, and it’s easy to see why this rifle is so highly regarded.

But… there’s one small thing that’s been bugging me — the rear sight.

It looks great and has a clever design, but I’ve noticed there’s a bit of play or wiggle between some of the parts. There are actually three areas where there’s noticeable play, and unfortunately, it’s enough that I think it could affect accuracy when using the open sights. It’s not loose in a “falling apart” kind of way, but there’s definitely some movement that feels out of place on a rifle that’s otherwise built like a clock.

To me, it doesn’t seem like a defect or something broken — more like a general looseness in how the pieces fit together. Which makes me wonder:

Is this just how the HW open sights are, or did I get unlucky?

I’d love to hear from other HW owners — especially those with a 30s or similar models. Is this rear sight play something you’ve noticed too?

Tuning  Taipan Compact .25 - lead free - sub 15 fpe

Hi all,

I have two Taipan Vet 1 .25 cal rifles, one long and one compact that I enjoy a lot. The compact is my current squirrel gun, as well as the occasional pest bird in the barnyard, and pest rabbit/woodchuck in the flowerbeds if I am walking about. The long hasn't been set up yet, but is going to be my mobile artillery for knocking off pest birds at distance in the breeze off of a tripod.

I have been thinking I need a Taipan .25 Standard to complete the collection. My thought would be to set up the standard as my squirrel/rabbit/woodchuck gun, and setting up the compact as a barn gun, shooting lead free pellets at low power. I have an adjustable Huma Reg for a Taipan that came with the long I bought. In theory, I could set the reg pressure low fairly easily, and then dial back the hammer spring. Or maybe keep the compact as a squirrel gun for walking the woods, and the standard could be the barn gun for hiogher shot count.

Anyone have any idea how a CZ barrel might do with lead free .25 pellets?
Are Taipan Vets set up to be able to be dialed way down in power and still be consistent?

Thank you,
-pg

HW/Weihrauch  I think this 1974 HW30 may need some attention...

I doubt this HW30 has ever been opened up. Cosmetically, outside, the gun is in good condition. Still accurate w/70's Weaver scope - needed no adjustments.
Perfekt trigger is 3.15lbs average. Some air tube galling from the linkage... Gun still averaged 534fps w/7.4gr pellet. Take a look at this piston/seal! I will probably go with a Vortek spring & seal. Lots of cleaning to do... Do the plastic linkage inserts still exist to keep the air tube from getting scratched?

Umarex  Copper coated H&N vs normal lead in Notos

Tried some new "copper coated" .22 cal H&N 14.66 grain pellets in the NOTOS today just out of curiosity. Put them up against my normal JSB Jumbo Heavy 18.13 and JSB Exact 13.43 grain. Was looking to try something "lead free" or close to it, and these appear to be somewhat so, at least on the outside surface. Have to say, the copper coated did NOT perform very well.

Regulator set at 1250 psi, Huben valve with .42 liter CF bottle filled to 4500 psi, all ports opened to 4.5mm, STX 500mm barrel kit. After 45 shots it still had 3500 psi left in the bottle.

Attached below are my 3 x 15 shot string results (JSB 18.13 on left, H&N Copper in center, and JSB 13.43 on right). Huge variance in the copper ones for sone reason in FPS, also in FPE not shown... I want to try the "alloy" version next. Anyone else have any experience and comments using lead free pellets?

Look forward to any insight, comments, etc from all the wisdom holders out there on any lead free alternatives.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Sabre Tactical Chassis FX King .30 700MM W/ Scope, extra bottle, mod., Huma Reg + more.

Hey guys,

I dropped off the face of the earth from airguns after an unanticipated career change and bought this FX King in the green mountain laminate stock last August from Utah airguns in anticipation of doing some hunting with it. I got it all tuned up, had several successful hunts, but now the money needs to go elsewhere so it's up for sale.

The rifle is in absolute flawless condition, with zero scratches or signs of use. This is the 700MM barrel model, and originally came with the greem mountain laminate GRS stock, which I replaced with the bronze Sabre Tactical chassis to closer replicate my powder burners. I added a Huma high pressure reg, Huma pin probe, and Huma Tungsten Hammer. The rifle is precisely tuned to shoot 59gr ZAN slugs at 920 FPS. At 50 yards, it stacks slugs into dime sized groups or smaller.

It comes with the original FX hardcase, the original GRS stock, the original 480CC 250 BAR bottle, an additional new 580 CC 300 BAR FX bottle, the off gun bottle fill nipple, 3 new breech o rings, the original hammer weight, probe, FX reg, an extra .30 FX magazine, the single shot loader, and female QD fill attachment. An Impulse Air IA 1350 mod with an extra baffle and the picatinny mount MDT Ground Pod Bipod is included in the package.

There is a new Athlon Ares ETR UHD 3-18X50 APRS6 FFP IR MIL scope mounted to the rifle currently in a set of Arken rings with an MKM bubble level and flip up scope caps. I can use this scope on other rifles, but it is available to be purchased as a package deal on the scope.

The rifle shoots great and is very, very powerful and accurate. There is over $4,500 invested in the whole package. It is in new condition and deserves a good home where it will be put to use.

I'm asking $2,500 for the rifle with the extras, or $3,200 for the whole package with the scope. Reasonable offers are welcome. I can snap close up pics of specific parts / areas upon request as well. Post here and please PM me if you are interested. I can answer any additional questions over the phone, email or PM's.

I also have an FX M3 Sniper .30 call for sale that will be posted here shortly for a good price in case anyone is interested in that.

Thanks!

1.5 more down

Went to my permission today at 0900 with my faithful retriever Pete, Phil met us there. Cool/cold overcast with the sun TRYING to peek through. Got sighted in at 75 yards, for a change everything lined up. Saw one at 110 yards but wasn't a safe shot, people working on the road. Saw one scurrying into a Burrow close by but no time to grab a gun. Phil sat on it for quite a while but it stayed in. Finally saw one out at 105 yards, let fly with a .25 26gr RMR slug, THUNK, down it went, then it started moving but I could barely see it and didn't have a good second shot, Pete and Phil went out to find the body, but apparently it crawled into a burrow, darn no body for the count. Sun started to come out and ...oh look one to the right by the road side, went over to get a bit closer, Phil ranged it at 53 yards or so, got zeroed in it sat up and, THUNK 26gr. and down it went, I gave it one more to make sure, Pete and Phil went over to find it, they wandered around aimlessly trying to find it, I went over to needle them then Phil found it wedged in a VERY tight hole. Hit it just above the front R shoulder. These things are slippery, I need to modify my grabber a bit to get more of a purchase on them. I was going too say I used my Tequila but....It was my Maverick .25.

We carry the Tequila in case it's still breathing, should carry some Tequila just because....

Good fellowship and something to feed the buzzards.

Apparently they come out more in the evening, just when I can't get there. oh well. On the bright side they actually mowed the weeds this year so it'll be easier to get the few remaining ones.

Edited weight of slug to 26 gr.

Who here can machine a barrel blank?

If I send my JTS Max barrel to you, along with an LW barrel blank, who can machine the breech end to match the jts, and the muzzle end 1/2-20?

Also any of you who do this? happen to have an LW Barrel in .22 in stock? This is for a rifle shooting pellets.

Breech threads onto barrel, then steps up to the barrel nut, then runs .63" all the way down to the muzzle.

RAW Rapid  RAW HM1000x Accuracy Issues

I have the 25 caliber mini hunter, chassis version.

It’s shooting 3/4 to 1 inch groups at 50 yards using JSB, AEA and JTS 33-34 grain pellets. No real measurable accuracy difference between them. 825 ish FPS.

I’ve tried 2 different moderators and bare muzzle.

I called RAW and they suggested shooting at 100 yards to see how it groups. He said I may find the group size to be not much bigger at 100 than 50. He said this is possible because the pellet is still trying to stabilize at closer range because of precession and turbulence behind the pellet. (I’m paraphrasing him).
Has anyone ever experienced this phenomenon? It seems possible but unlikely to me.

He also suggested fine tuning the hammer spring by increasing tension. I’m hesitant to do this because the velocity spread impressively good. It seems like if turbulence behind the pellet was a problem decreasing the hammer would be the way to go, no?
