FX  Impact m4 micro won't move

I was trying to set up a new tune for a light pellet. I wanted the micro at 1 - 1.5 as a starting point.

I moved the micro down from 3.0 by spinning the micro adjuster but it stopped moving once I got below 1.5.

Now it won't move at all!

It won't move with macro rotation either up or down and the same with the micro adjuster either left or right.

Help, please.

Thanks

Plenum Volume Confusion

Ive seen this stated many times. More plenum volume gives a higher shot count along with higher velocity. Logic tells me other wise.

I'm pulling these numbers out of my @$$

If you have 600 CC tank and 5cc plenum = 120 shots

Now you add a external plenum which increases plenum volume to 15cc........that extra air in the plenum would certainly increase velocity.....but 600 CD tank divided by 15cc plenum equals 40 shots .....

This in in a perfect world where no more air leaves the tank and goes thru the plenum and with the projectile out the bore

Am I wrong?

PCP Rifle  NLA 30cal FX Impact 700mm $1,600 + FX Panthera 30cal 700mm and 395mm $1,250

Bum Bag Suppliers?

Hello All,
Ive been wanting to pick up a bum bag for quite some time. I have only found two resources but now down to just one.
Looks like Creedmore discontinued their bum bags so its just AoA and the Primal. I dont really care for the look of that one and really wanted the Creedmore one.
Anyone know of other suppliers? A google search did not reveal anything.
Thanks

Air Venturi  New Avenger Owner

Well one of the members here had a great deal on a .177 avenger and I couldn't pass it up. I purchased this for pest control I do at a pig/cattle farm locally and I think once I tune it up, it will work perfect.

Currently I use a .22 FX Crown for all my pesting and it works great but is overkill at 30ftlbs for sparrows (mostly what I shoot). Most of the shots are 25-75y with the bulk being around 50y. Over the last couple years of being there I decided a powerful accurate. 177 would be my best bet...

Tuning... I looked all over for some type of guide for .177 with really no avail. Since I know these run super hot, I plan to use a 13+ grain pellet or slug. When I recieved the rifle, it was set with the reg at around 1600psi and no idea on the hammer spring..yet. however I couldn't get really decent groups with any weight pellet until I gave the reg a boost to 1800psi and the hammer spring a 1/4 turn in. Currently shooting 10.65gr Baracudas at 925fps (a little hot) but accurate to 50y.

I'm going to try to redneck document everything for the tuning process (within reason) due to the lack info out there on the 177 platform. I have a new shipment of projectiles I'm going to work on (and a new chrono) to hopefully get this thing launching some heavy pellets or slugs at a decent speed.

If anyone has suggestions on tuning settings for the 177, or what your getting, please let me know. Overall, I'm in love with the shot cycling and trigger weight. Such a fun rifle to shoot and with the Tatsu it's quiet, at least for now lol. PS: Don't mind the horrible mess in the picture I just took one quickly for the post!

  • Question
GX EL portable cordless compressor?

Does anyone have any experience with this compressor? This is the first compressor I am seeing that runs on its own battery. That would be an absolute game changer for me in the field. At the moment I am bringing my small orange Chinese compressor to my truck, walking back and forth from the truck to refill. It isn’t really a fun process. If anyone has anything to say about this compressor I am all ears! Thanks!

Knurling Slugs - Is it the Solution?

I am intrigued by the folks knurling or canneluring slugs. Is it THE solution for a better all-around fit to most barrels rather than specific diameter slugs? I have been disappointed in my attempts to try .22 and .25 slugs - I never seem to have the right size and they shoot like open-choke shotguns at rather short ranges. I can never seem to get them to workout, granted I get quickly discouraged and go back to pellets. I was thinking, though, if knurling or canneluring slugs creates an oversize slug that fits easily into many bore size and easily adapts/crushes to the right size, this technique might be the solution. What do you think?

Bi-Pod

Those of you that have bi-pods on your rifles is there one that you really like? I have rests and bags, but I hate packing them up to take to the range. This is not for anything like benchers shooting, but I also don't want some wobbly set either. I have looked online and there are sets all over the price range, but without seeing one I hate to drop hundreds of dollars only to find out that I really don't like it.

Thanks,

Jerry

New SWFA SS Gen 2 Scopes

Looks like SWFA came out with their SWFA SS Gen 2 series of optics with zero stop and modular turrets. Anyone have them or checked them out yet? I need to replace some of my old optics on my airguns. Hopefully they're still made in Japan like their original lineup.

Corbin is now selling .218 rebated boat tail slugs

For all of you longer range .22 caliber slug shooters, Corbin is offering and selling .218 sized rebated boat tail slugs in 28 and 34 grains. It comes to $0.13 each which isn't comparatively cheap to a strait walled slug, but may fly exceptional with the right barrel and tune.

Hunter Field Target "Shooting Sticks"

I have been looking more at the hunter side of things to get people into shooting, and making it a little easier for people to shoot. That had me thinking about different shooting sticks. I see MANY people using the Primos shooting sticks and some using just sticks that they have made. That got me to wondering about something different....... are you unable to have the sticks attached to the rifle?

What I was thinking was I have a large tripod that I would be able to remove a leg from.

Just trying to think of things that I already have instead of having to buy more things.

After the Worlds' - Back to Hunter and Open Classes???

Well, at almost 75 years old, it was a real challenge to give the worlds' a go. I had started my FT shooting in the 12fpe WFTF class with USFT #44 back in 2008. Over the years it's got very difficult to endure the position challenges for the entire match, but I usually did pretty good for the first half, but cramped up and fell apart in the second half... So, a few years back I went to Hunter.

Randy and I were challenged by LD to get in shape a year ago for a go at the worlds. It's a once in a lifetime chance for someone like me who doesn't like to fly anywhere. And to boot LD said he had a 12fpe USFT he had built, he wanted me to shoot in the worlds and if I could come in the top ten, he would give it to me... so I had to go for it.

Of course my expectations were not real high, but it was good motivation to start eating better, and doing a lot of stretching and walking in the morning with my wife and dogs... all good stuff anyway.

Expectations were about right I only shot in the bottom of the top third of competitors 50 something out of I think about 165 competitors... not great, but I was able to shoot all three days without cramping up and actually did my best, a 37/50 on day three on the Blue course that is on the rocky hill side where pushing my cart up the hills was a real pain.

There is way more competitors Nationally and on the West coast in the Hunter PCP class and WFTF class is pretty sparse out here. So, I'm leaning toward going back to Hunter next year... I'm only getting older:)

How about you?? I know a lot of you folks switched from Open and Hunter to attend the worlds like me.. How many are sticking with it? How many going back??

$27 chronograph

Amazon clamp on. Recently tried getting my old shooting chrony working inside. Bought a set of led lights and taped on several different ways.
No luck, figured it wasn’t bright enough and ordered some multi light panels that I have to wire up. Should have just ordered the factory light kit for
$60. In the mean time I ordered and received this very inexpensive clamp on.

It works, and seems to work well.

FX  Critique my tune

I’m new to PCP’s, have looked at several tuning videos and have experimented with the various adjustments to see what they do.

I think I have a good setup for my gun and this pellet, but have no idea if that’s true. So I’d appreciate a critique, especially from other Impact M4 shooters.

I tried to tune first for FPS, then accuracy, then air usage. When my sights behave I get very good groups at 50ft.

Gun: FX Impact M4 Sniper .22 cal – standard 700mm barrel
- FYI: I’ve fired over 1500 rounds, all JSB, so the gun should be normalized.

Pellet: JSB Exact Jumbo, 15.89gr

Regulator: 93 bar

Macro: 8

Micro: 3.0

Valve: 4 + 1 notch

FPS: Average for 27 rounds: 933, high 946, low 924

Air usage: 0.67 bar/round

How did I do?

Thanks for the help

FX  DRS walnut stock refinish

Well, I've purchased the FX DRS 500/.22.
I've been interested in this "air tube over barrel" concept ever since I saw it announced last year. After decades of owning and shooting airguns of all types, I'm really liking the bull barrel "firearm look" of this rifle.

I wanted the Grade 2 Walnut, but couldn't find it in stock anywhere. Utah Airguns said there should be some Gr-2 walnuts coming soon, but couldn't really be sure when.
So, I decided to buy the Grade 1 from UA, and add some features myself.

I went with Ebony caps, with English Holly spacers, on the grip & forend. Installed a white lined recoil pad, and front sling stud.

I'm really liking this new FX platform, and it shoots as good as it looks, (to my eye). Typical FX accuracy, and only weighs 5Lb- 15oz, with this light scope.
To help achieve this light weight....
I drilled some large holes into the butt stock to lighten that heavy area up. (Actually saved 2.9oz with that). Also reduced the width of the raised cheek piece by 1/4". I kept the height the same. That gave me a better scope alignment, and also saved some more weight. The final task was applying four hand rubbed coats of Maccari Royal London stock oil, for a satin finish.

I'm using the Huma Mod-30 moderator, but only using the first section of the M30 to keep the rifle as short as possible. It only cuts the report by about half, which is acceptable for me. I don't have any noise restrictions at my home.

I wanted to share my excitement with this new FX rifle, by posting a few pics during the build sequence.
Anyone else done any customization to your DRS? Or other beloved airgun? I'd love to hear about them.
Have fun!!
