Benjamin  New guy here! Just ordered my first "grown-up" air rifle

As a kid, I had a Crosman 761XL, and it was "da bomb." Stolen from our house in a burglary. I wish I could replace it for nostalgic purposes. I've looked, but the vast majority of vintage 761XL (with gold receiver) are in very poor condition.

Since then, I've been a big "gun" guy with a pretty decent collection of firearms. I like me some guns!

I've been wanting to add a "real grown up" air rifle to the collection for a while. And I finally placed the order yesterday (Pyramyd Air)!

I ordered a Benjamin Marauder Regulated (aka "Field & Target") in .22. Wood stock. Lothar Walther barrel.

Also ordered:

Hawke 4-16x44 Airmax 30 SF Compact Rifle scope, Ill. AMX IR, 1/10 MRAD, 30mm

Air Venturi Mini Wingman, 100 cu in PCP tank

Also an assortment of pellets to try and four extra magazines.

That ***t adds up to some serious $$$! But I can't wait to play with it!

A year ago, a dude at the range had an FX Impact M3 that attracted my attention. He let me shoot it. At 25 yards, I put 5 pellets in one hole. Not a "cloverleaf." ONE hole! Oh, baby... I gotta have one of those! Well... that rifle (alone) is $2100. Sooooooooooooo.... I'm starting with the Maruader!

FX  I hate my fx drs pro

I hate it.

Started by ordering an action and the saber tactical chassis. The SB chassis would not fit, it bound the trigger when installed. UA installed it that way, shipped it to me with the safety stuck on fire, and the trigger not even moving at all. The only compensation for that fiasco was free return shipping. Woohoo.

SO called UA and swapped it for the delta force chassis. OMG this thing is heavier than philosophy class. I could not, for my use case of shooting out back and an occasional field jaunt, lug that thing around.

So I found that FORM from the UK made some beautiful walnut stocks with cheek and LoP adjustments...ordered one of those. Finally get the trigger guard with it, and go to put it all together, and find out that it doesn't fit. Apparently the DRS PRO and the DRS CLASSIC have different trigger groups, and they are not compatible across stocks. The PRO is intended ONLY for chassis style - despite only fitting 2 of the 3 chassis available.

So back to UA, and ordered a standard trigger group, which they claim FX says you can swap, but they never have. I probably should have looked at videos of removing the trigger assembly before ordering that, because now there is no way I am excited about taking all those tiny pieces apart lol.

So, now, 6 month in on ownership, and I still have a gun I cannot shoot. I am ready to stop throwing good money after bad - I just wanted a slug ready FX gun, it just looks like this adventure is down a rabbit hole full of poo.

Anyone want a DRS pro action with no stock? Walnut FORM stock anyone? I'm sure no one does, just really frustrated and needed to vent.

N/A  Why don't PCPs all have safety burst disks?

The only PCP that I recall that has/had a safety burst disk was my Kral Mega Marine. That is a feature that I value highly, but it seems that only a few guns have what seems an obvious safety feature.

Many Kral have them, and a search shows that some: Trimex (never heard of that make), Niksan (never heard of), Reximex, Air Venturi, Pallas (never heard), Kuzey (never heard).

* the "never heard of" comment isn't a shot at these makes, simply illustrating that I haven't even known to consider these for purchase.

AirMaks Arms  Katran Compact in .22 - recommended moderator?

Seeing what the AN forum members with the Katran Compact .22 are using for moderators. Will be running 14 to 15 grain pellets in general. I did contact UA to see what they recommend as Katran sellers. Majority of the shooting takes place around 30 yards or less. What are you running for a moderator?

Shooting with two of the granddaughters

IMG_3730.jpegIMG_3731.jpeg. Had a couple of my granddaughters today and they took a little bit of time to shoot the vixen but they were awfully busy playing with each other today and there was no fussing around which was nice to see , the grandkids seem to be better behaved for me lol. They were frustrated with scope alignment but they are coming around. Good times ❤️

Airgun Technologies  Agt Uragan 3 compact .22 more silent

I have Agt uragan 3 compact model with 400mm barrel.

Very nice and accurate gun.
But i need get it more silent.

My shooting is mostly for backyard and gun need to be silent.

Short and light gun is also handy and what like use.

I have test stock + moderator adaptor M14x1.25 Female to 1/2UNF-20 + Weihrauh Xl moderator.
Too long setup for short gun and good if can have little more silent.

Also test bare barell + moderator adaptor M14x1.25 Female to 1/2UNF-20 + Weihrauh Xl moderator.
Too much noise.

Today did arrive Huma-Air Modulair Airgun Moderator MOD40 Avalanche moderator and one extra modul
chamber.

It was possible to get it M14x1.25 thread so it can be shorter without any adaptor.
Moderator length can also adjust and it easy to open for cleaning, etc.

With that extra modul it is more silent when without it.
Still too loud, but really nice to adjust that moderator length shorter or longer.

Next need to adjust fps little lower, but not happy to mess up agt factory tunes, because it shoot so well.

Now that stock uragan shoot Jsb hades 15.89gr cal .22 for 930 fps.

I have test more heavy pellets, but they need to too heavy when it is silent.

Target is tune gun for 15.89gr cal pellets and about 880fps.
Hoping that it still shoot precise after that tune.

My other pcp hatsan is tuned to shoot 870 fps and it is very silent.
www.airgunnation.com/threads/new-member.1333048/

That uragan 3 can be different to tune what was uragan 2 are.

Is that hammerspring adjusting good way to start for that tune for uragan 3 compact?

Or need to adjust regulator or some else?

Stoeger  And the Scout secret sauce is...

So it's been a few weeks since I received my Stoeger XM1 Scout .22, but I've been getting several pellets lined up with the appropriate hammer spring setting. I've got the right numbers to shoot Hades and H&N barracuda match. Both shot well. I asked Airgun Revisions what they recommended which was the 18.1gr JSBs. Didn't have any so I went with the next best thing; FX 18.1gr. The attached pic is two 5 shot groups at 48 yards. Very impressive I must say. For those of you who want to know I was shooting about 860 FPS and the hammer spring was set at six turns out. I'm happy with that and now can do some serious small game hunting. As the girls in Hee Haw used to say "We're through playin' now!" 😁

Taipan  Taipan Veteran Standard .25 cal

Hello all,
I purchased a Taipan Veteran standard in .25 cal. from Talon Tunes back in 2018. It has developed a leak somewhere? Tony is currently out of stock of the o-ring kits. Does anyone on here know where I can get them? My local hardware store has a decent selection of o-rings but they're all SAE sizes. Taipan seems to use metric size o-rings. I've searched the internet high and low on these o-ring kits but I have struck out in finding them. Any help would be appreciated! I did a total disassemble and reseal on my Gen 1 Mrod. I'm sure I can handle this Taipan as well. From what I'm reading they seem fairly easy to work on. Thanks in advance!

Air Arms  Weird Problem with My New Leupold

The POI at 50yds with a Leupold EFR
VX-3HD 6.5-20x40 on my new FX-King was a good 3” high even with the elevation adjustment down as far as it would go. So I switched it with the Meopta that was on my Air Arms S410. I took the AA to the range today to see if it too had the same problem using that Leupold scope. It worked just fine…I had to crank it back up to zero it at 25yds, and there was plenty of room both up and down after zeroing. The FX uses high rings on a picatinny, whereas the AA has medium high rings on an 11mm mount. Any ideas what’s going on here? All input is welcome. The attached pic is from the Air Arms/Leupold using 16gr JSB’s at 25yds.

Tuning  Energy vs. pellet weight. Possible air volume regulation

I measured muzzle energy for pellets with different weight. It is not surprise that lighter pellets show lower energy due to faster acceleration and leaving barrel much before full gas expansion. My question: Does anyone know of a rifle that allow adjustment of either plenum volume or hummer power for used pellet weight? This may allow for highr number of shots for lighter pellets.

it seems eye relief is more critical when using a scope on a Bullpup.

What are you finding out? I like shorter scopes and because of the weaver or Picatinny rails can not always get the optimum eye relief. This is a problem for me with Bullpups.... shooting offhand vs. shooting from a bench the hold changes thus the eye relief changes for me. Um ,my long neck doesn't help.I also use an adjustable butt plate.
