Now Im really confused what to get.

So, had an ATG Uragan 2 on order for a few weeks and delivery day kept getting pushed back. At the last delay i said f**k it and drove to a shop and bought a Daystate Delta Wolf. Took about a week and 6 tins of pellets to decide it was a piece of junk. Fortunately the shop seem happy (in fact suspiciously happy) to accept it back, no questions. I said I would pick up one of their M3s. Shop guy says if you think the Daystate is trouble then you have no idea how much worse an FX will be. All rather strange if your business is selling guns.

I like bullpup. I don't actually need all the amazing adjust ability of the M3 and worry if it could be a source of error, however the ATGs all need pulling apart to adjust the reg and dont show reg pressure. Also not great but once set it should be ok.

Anyway, no BS. Which one (all .22 )?

Start of a new week of airgunning, end of a hectic one.

So last week after shooting my freshly built slug impact , hitting wiffle balls at 265 yards, sub moa at 105-130 yards, I still wasn't impressed.... well I take that back, I was very freaking happy with how the rifle shot but it just did not feel right. When I say this , I mean , to me, the impacts feel like a tube with accessories, they do not feel well built, they do not feel rugged, they really are not as smooth as everyone makes them out to be (mine shot smooth from the trigger pull on but the action and magazine etc, nope not so much) even with an eaglevisioncam mag). I can say that if you went from a "low end" rifle to an impact, yes they are smooth as can be and I can understand your AWE... but if you went from a Taipan to an impact, furthest thing from it.

With that said I sold both impacts I had, the .177 compact and the .22 75fpe energy beast. The .177 was actually traded for one of MTNghosts supervet compacts and I am very excited for that now giving me 2 veteran compacts in .22 , one making 25 fpe for small critters and the supervet is at 45-50 fpe capable of 70 plus with a 12 inch barrel! and capable of moa accuracy at 100. I am not replacing the slugger with anything because the realization that I don't need anything else once I took my taipan out after focusing on the two impact builds and wanting to give it some trigger time, smile the whole damn time!!!! I didn't get that with the feel of the impacts (or even my dreamline I built when I had it 🤔..

Its funny too because I was ratting with another member here and he was allowed to borrow @brawler1588 taipan so he could make sure he wanted one (because he too was having the conflicted what the hell am I chasing sensation going on), he didn't even have it 24 hours before he went out and bought all 3, a compact in .177, a standard in .22, and long in .25. Saying good bye to his fx rifles.

Needless to say , I am grad I scratched the long range airgun itch but its truly a novelty unless you are using something .30 or bigger shooting slugs, I don't see myself shooting rabbits at 265 yards lol

Had a great time ratting with my compact taipan .22 , my ratting partner was testing out the zan .177 slugs, OH MY ****ING GOD. DEVISTATION !!!! blowing rats heads clean off, legit. I wish we had pics of that rat missing half his head!!!!

We shot about 60 rats, heres a picture of just a few of the ones we recovered (there was more) , they are very big hardy bastards!!!!
Also another testament to taipan greatness, I let the farmer take a few shots with the rifle (it is his property and his permission granted to us after all) AND HE DROPPED IT FROM 5.5 FEET IN THE AIR!!!!!!!!

Total accident, I did not show I was upset as mistakes happen but my heart did drop, well guess what, I picked that rifle up and POI didn't change, checked velocity this morning and it did not change. I can promise my .177 impact would not have taken that fall like that nor would my slugger. Have a couple parts to replace due to cosmetic OCD but thats it.

Now I am not saying there are not other brands that can make YOU feel the same way MY taipans make ME feel but do not get sucked into the hype just because the airgun society says you should. Not all of us want to tinker, regardless of if we can. Not all of us even understand what we are hunting for when it comes to these airguns but in reality we all just want to have fun, I mean that is the reason we do this right? Dont fall for the you need this , you need that, it wont shoot if you don't do x y or z because the influencers say so. My mk2 can hang with 85% (if not more) of the M3s out there, 1045 fps , sub moa at 105 yards, with only 1 regulator?!!?!? you don't say.

Anyways just some thoughts in my head take them as you will and here are two pictures from last nights events.

Also unrelated, does anyone have any suggestions on a compact powerful IR (compact width wise, not this huge giant lens )?

Target fixation

So i set off yesterday wanting to shoot some pellets at 50 M with my Vulcan 3, so i grabbed 6 different tins all weighing in around 10 grains.
This however was not terrible successful as i had a hard time to get a flat shot string at the 800 - 950 FPS speed range

So after making Swiss cheese out of a BR50 target with those shooing mag sized groups, and messing around with the hammer i concluded that my REG pressure was too high for this stuff, and so loaded up some Beasts i had in my ammo box, and they flew just fine, even managed to shoot the head off a fly, leaving just a hole in the paper with a little splatter around and a few little pieces i assume was legs,. the rest of the fly i saw drop strait down the paper, making me think at first i just scared it, but after a close up inspection of the hole i think i decapitated it.

So with my REG pressure more in line for 13 grain or heavier i turned to the slugs in my ammo box, and put up some of the 3" shoot N - C targets 82 M / 89 Yards out.

First up i shot my 12.5 gr NSA slugs, determined to "kill" the little red dot on the shoot N - C targets, a dot i think are at most 1/4 inch.
At the time the wind was still up so it was not easy to hit that damn red dot, so before i finally managed that i had dispensed 2-300 slugs, and made Swiss cheese of that particular target and the general area of two sighter dots.

T1.jpg

So as i put 3 of those Shoot N - C targets on the cardboard backing, i figured " i can do better" with 13 gr Zan slugs.

As fate would have it, and me resetting the chrono before i set off, i know i had exactly 150 Zan slugs in my tin, but again killing the red dot was not easy, so when that finally happened i had 1 slug left in the magazine, so a whopping 149 shots to kill a little red dot.
Mind you many many of those shots when in the same ragged holes all around the red dot.
Clearly if red dot are sentient, it must have been very very nervous.
T2.jpg

After that i changed to a fresh tin of KO slugs, so 400 lined up to kill the last little red dot, but i dident have to go that far.
first shot and follow that with 1 click on both turrets - 1 shot more and again 1 click on either turret, and then a 3 shot,,,,,,, and then i almost wiped the red dot in 1 shot, so my feel good was strong now and i did not shoot any more on that target.

T3.jpg

After changing cardboard and targets i shot some of the little repair dots on that, and made a OK 82 M 5 shot group with the JSB slugs.

Back to practicing CUZ if it take you150 shots to kill a little red dot, then you need to do better. :giggle:

M3 trigger

I have had my M3 for about 3 weeks now and am learning my way around this thing when business allows some spare time.
Right now I am working on the trigger and I am not winning this battle. Not ready to toss in the towel but my frustration is growing.
I tuned the triggers on three Maverick and thus far the results are better than what I am getting out of the M3.
I watched Newman’s video on it and that helped but I cannot get the three stage mess cleared up. Get what you think is a good two stage set then go the bench and you notice that there is actually three stages with the second being a gritty creep just before it engages the sear.
Also cannot get the safety screw to move or the spring screw. Not too sure the spring screw even does anything besides retain the spring.
Does it help to take the trigger out and then polish things up a bit.
At this point I am starting to hope there is an aftermarket alternative.
Would think a gun of this price would have a much better trigger and that has me wondering if I am missing something.
Any helpful hints or advice would be appreciated very much.

.177 Carbine Options

I am looking for a .177 carbine for rats and small game, and I could use a little help. I want something compact but not a bullpup, has collapsible and/or foldable stock, multi-shot, and ideally, adjustable power, but if not, at least 12 ft/lbs. So far, I have narrowed it down to three guns - an FX Dreamlite Compact, and FX Dream-Tact, and a Brocock Atomic XR Carbine. All of these check the boxes I'm looking to fill, but I am wondering if there are any others I haven't thought of. I am looking to keep it under $1,300, just for the gun. I have all the equipment to charge it, and I have a scope already. Does anyone have any other suggestions, or recommend one of my choices over the others?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Riding a bicycle

Hello everyone,

I know everyone has heard the old saying “ it’s like riding a bicycle, you just don’t forget”. Well shooting different air rifles is surely not like the bicycle thing! I have shot my Diana Stormrider all week and although it doesn’t have a great trigger, it really isn’t too bad with a pull of 2-1/2 pounds. I have not shot my RAW for just over a week and decided to shoot the 30-yard Challenge with it this morning. The RAW only needs 6-ounces for the pull so it is a lot lighter than the Stormrider. Anyway I get my target set up and settle down at the bench and get a good look through the scope and BANG. What the heck........ old mussel memory expecting to set the first stage on the trigger at 2-1/2 pounds and I have a wayward pellet. I said to myself, hey dummy this is the RAW, remember it is only 6-ounces. OK throw that target away and put up a practice target and relearn how to shoot again....

Looks like it was a fun event!

FOUND WTB .22 or .25 Rifle

My dad is looking to get into the hobby after seeing my first pcp at work

Looking for a quality shooter in the .22/.25 caliber range

He’s looking to take varmints up to raccoons, and plink some.

I believe the budget is $600-$700 - he’s open to most designs, priority is reliability and precision

Also, if you’re located in the SF Bay Area, Central Valley or anywhere in Southern California (north of SD), we can make the drive and pick up with cash

Thanks as always, hoping we can get lucky for him and find a great option
