Riding a bicycle

Hello everyone,

I know everyone has heard the old saying “ it’s like riding a bicycle, you just don’t forget”. Well shooting different air rifles is surely not like the bicycle thing! I have shot my Diana Stormrider all week and although it doesn’t have a great trigger, it really isn’t too bad with a pull of 2-1/2 pounds. I have not shot my RAW for just over a week and decided to shoot the 30-yard Challenge with it this morning. The RAW only needs 6-ounces for the pull so it is a lot lighter than the Stormrider. Anyway I get my target set up and settle down at the bench and get a good look through the scope and BANG. What the heck........ old mussel memory expecting to set the first stage on the trigger at 2-1/2 pounds and I have a wayward pellet. I said to myself, hey dummy this is the RAW, remember it is only 6-ounces. OK throw that target away and put up a practice target and relearn how to shoot again....

FOUND WTB .22 or .25 Rifle

My dad is looking to get into the hobby after seeing my first pcp at work

Looking for a quality shooter in the .22/.25 caliber range

He’s looking to take varmints up to raccoons, and plink some.

I believe the budget is $600-$700 - he’s open to most designs, priority is reliability and precision

Also, if you’re located in the SF Bay Area, Central Valley or anywhere in Southern California (north of SD), we can make the drive and pick up with cash

Thanks as always, hoping we can get lucky for him and find a great option

Barrel tensioner/shroud

Bullet central and their shroud/barrel tensioner got me thinking because I like the way they look and I would love to have a stiffer barrel on my 35 cal impact.

The barrel on the 35 cal is nearly 14mm and the shroud is 28mm. Aquiring the end parts to epoxy in is the issue, at least for me. So if anyone has experience in putting together one and aquiring parts, let me know as I would be interested in building one.

While looking at the bc version, I wondered if the tension would loosen over time and from just handling the gun. If a different style end cap, where the shroud tapers down to the carbon fiber barrel piece was used near the block, perhaps a cyclindrical aluminum c type clamp could be machined to connect the block with the shroud taper piece to more permanently hold the tension.

My Mutants

Gator and anonymous. Gator Mutant Standard sporting a 19"LW no choke polygon rifled barrel. anonymous shorty with full .177 conversion and 13" CZ .177 barrel and 1 of 5 full conversions to .177 in the USA. Recently sent gator off for new pants. And is back and together now as kryptek raid.

Fx m3 impact?

Just got my new impact m3 and havent even mounted a scope and rings yet but i got to thinking do i or will i need a stiffening rail or backbone to prevent my impact from flexing when shooting? If soo which one?
Ill mainly be shooting .22 jsb 18.1 grain pellets if that helps any?
There is the possibility of slugs being shot but that would be very limited to just a few here and there.
Are there any must have accessories for the m3?
Thanks

Perfect way to align the scope.

Well, call me stupid for have not find this until now.

If the scope is not perfectly aligned if you zero it at 50 yards and then you shoot at 100 yards you will hit right or left and if you shoot at 20 yards you will hit at the opposite side you hit at 100.

What I always did before today was using two bubble levels, one over the weaver/dove tail rail and another one over the vertical Tourrent of the scope = absolute mess and waist of pellets.

Today I found and confirmed that the best way to assure the scope is aligned is to hang a cord with a plumb at above 70 yards, and use a bubble level over the rail of the rifle. Loose the scope rings, sight at the cord, confirm that the bubble is centered and the vertical axle of the reticle is perfectly aligned with the cord with the plumb. Then fasten the scope to the rings and confirm the thighten did not move the reticle and still are aligned the bubble and the vertical axle of the reticle.

And after that you will hit exactly in the same vertical axle at 100 yards and at 10 yards.

I share this just in case not every of you are smarter than myself and had not found before this way of confirming the dully align of the scope.

NLA WTS Weihrauch HW100 $800

This is a a very nice little rifle in.22 caliber. It’s extremely accurate with JSB Hades and JSB Exact pellets. It’s shooting about 860 fps last I checked. It comes with two factory magazines and the factory fill port. I’ll also have a package of orings and tools that go with it. It’s always worked good for me and I’m able to consistently hit a 3/8” nut at 40 yards. The scope and rings are NOT included in asking price. Any questions or concerns just ask.

Correcting the only Major Flaw of the FX M3....The Trigger

It was a shame that such a nice PCP with great Potential... Would have such a bad Trigger action!
Out of the box, the trigger was at least 8lbs..If I remember correctly.
After getting new springs. Trimming them down.
You could get a light trigger pull, but it had a hitch in the movement.
If got to the end of the 1st stage take-up, then if I decided not to fire..
If you backed off, the trigger would not return... You would have manually return it!

So I honed both the trigger sear roll and hammer sear arm..using diamond hones
20220224_125529.jpg

20220224_124255.jpg

This helped, but not enough.. So I closely examined the trigger sear roll piece.
I decided it could benefit from a 3° undercut.
So I setup my mill......1/4" carbide endmill and 3°angle block....
Sear%203deg.jpg

I setup the trigger sear roll in a jewelers vice. Made sure the sear roll surfaces were square.
Then I set the undercut angle with my angle block.
I blacken the sear surface to make sure I only kiss the edge. I didn't want to move the sear'edge position!
I took very light passes until all the black surface was gone!!
Finally I remove the Trigger Sear roll from the vice and honed the surface. To make sure the surface was smooth!
Sear%20cut.jpg

Well I am Glad to report it Worked Perfectly.
The 1st stage take up is around 12 ozs.
1st%20stage2.jpg

Now if I back off, it will return(reset) by itself!!
The 2nd stage break is about 1.5lbs. Crisp..breaks like glass!!
2nd%20stage.jpg

I love when a Plan comes together as you Planned!
This what make airgunning Fun!!
