Pellet/Slug impact angles

I hope someone can help me out with this one. I have watched numerous videos over the years of airgunners shooting long range (100 yards and beyond). Something stands out to me. The angle and impact, especially when shooting paper targets, appear to always be perpendicular to the target. I have watched, in particular, a lot of AirTac Hunting videos where they show the looping trajectory of the pellet or slug. In my mind, there is no way the strike on the target could be at a 90 degree angle. I am NOT calling anyone out in any way. Just trying to figure out projectiles and aerodynamics.

Keith.

Sheridan  Recent Auction Purchase

Picked up this nice Sheridan Blue Streak at a recent firearms auction here in Ohio. Paid $150, and it came with the original box (showing quite a bit of storage wear) as well as the instruction book. Serial number indicates a 1976 build, just before Benjamin stepped in and bought them out.

I purchased the gun thinking I would probably need to drive it over to Baker Airguns for a seal job, but when my order of .20 cal JSBs arrived today from Trenier, I took it out for a quick test. Despite being nearly 50 years old, it looks and shoots like new! Took about a dozen shots with anywhere from 5 to 8 pumps and was knocking the bottom out of some Coke cans from about 20 yards shooting freehand with iron sights. I'll put it over my chrony when the weather warms up, but I can tell it has some pretty good zip. Despite having some nice modern PCPs at my disposal, it's still a joy to get out the vintage guns for some plinking fun!

New member. Have a G2 SL .25 as my first PCP.

New to the group, I have had a Umarex G2 SL .25 for a few months now and it has been great. Already install the Hajimoto 2 stage trigger, carbon bottle with 2200PSI regulator, also have a DonnyFL SUMO moderator. It shoots pretty good and I have no complaints other than of course the size and weight and because of that I am looking for a second AG. This time I have my eyes on the Uragan 2 or 3 Compact with carbon stock in .22 cal.

Just figured I would introduce myself....

N/A  Metamorphosis

I bought my first springer in the early '70s, a Wischo 55. As a teenager I was fascinated with its accuracy and power, exceeding the familiar store brands I owned. I continued to prefer break barrelled springers, acquiring a few more as a young adult and married man. In the late '80s, we moved to our current rural address. I abandoned my air arms since I had acreage and the ability to discharge firearms on my home ranges. I believed that .22 rimfires were superior to springers in every respect. I put my springers away, seemingly forever. As I enter my 4th quarter of life, however, I'm delighted to reintroduce myself to pellet guns. I have grandchildren now, and they enjoy firing my Daisy, Crosman, Beeman , Weihrauch and other air arms. Should I eventually return to suburban residency, I'm sure I'll find my collection to be more appropriate and valuable, as before. Finding this website will make the years ahead even more enjoyable.

N/A  PCP Dove Hunting Rifle

Hi everyone, I currently own a Taipan vet 2 and love this platform. If there is no user error I can hit anything. The other day i aimed for the head on a dove at around 120m and thts right where it hit. Everything about the rifle is great other than the weight atleast when I walk around and try to shoot without anything to lean it on. I originally bought this rifle for dove hunting after alot of research , but I’ve had a change of heart. I don’t want to abandon the rifle in my second home and use it for 3 weeks out of every year. With this out the way I am looking for recommendations for a cheaper PCP rifle. Main use will be for hunting doves anywhere from 30-120m far. I want it to be accurate with a decent shot count and in .22 cal. Mainly will be shooting jsb 18.3g . Also the lighter the better. The scope mounted on it will be a Element Helix 6-24 apr1c reticle. I don’t mind buying used and the cheaper the better since it will mostly be stored away. So any recommendations?

No brand china compresor first experience

Hi lads. Recently I purchased a aliexpress pcp compresor for 90 bucks on a super commy Tianmen offer, why I purchased it? because I saw the exact same device in Amazon, branded as Tuxing, but at much more price.

(This is the Amazon one, the aliexpress one is exactly the same but without letters and engraving)

Well, I start filling my GK1 with it, I already know and asumed that the thing can only go up to 4500PSI/300bar, and GK1 fills up to 5000PSI/350bar, but I don't really care that much, I just wanted to shoot the gun without having to manually pump it.

I wrongly assumed that the thing, as the manual say it, will stop at his max pressure that is far below the pistol max, and i go doing other things... when suddenly, the TV showed something about ***†** -Are you really trusting a chinese crap?- Oh boy... what I am doing! I inmediatelly ran to the compresor to see with horror the indicator at 5200PSI. I turned of the compresor, bleed the valve and shoot the excees of pressure out of my GK1.

Now I'm confused. I'm partially happy because the stupid thing can actually fill to the max GK1 pressure, but at the same time I'm concerned about it. Should I use the compresor that far beyond his max rated pressure? does anyone have experiences with this exact compresor branded as Tuxing?

I may work on some sort of safe encapsulation enviorment for if the thing decides to go Allahu Akbar on me, because it's obvious that I must be there when this is filling things.

How to refill grease pot on GX-CS4 Compressor?

Hello everyone and hope all is well.

I just received my GX-CS4-I compressor and I have a questions regards on how to refill the grease pot. After I unpacked the unit I unscrewed the pot and noticed it was mix of yellowish grease and white grease combined together. I unscrewed CCW the small plunder knob all the way in, took the existing grease I wasn't happy with and added some of my SuperLube Silicon Lubrication grease. My question is, once the grease if filled all the way to the edge (flush), once I screw the pot grease back in, do I need to turn the small plunger knob once or twice prior firing the compressor for the first time? Or should I screw the grease pot and leave it as is and only turn it twice per manual after the first 4-6 hours of usage? Any advice or tips would be helpful. I appreciate in advance!

BANG…. “Oops”…

So I had a buddy over earlier to help me putting up some heavy storage shelves in the basement, which is also where I currently shoot out of the window and my rifles are on a wall…

He saw them and goes “can we shoot a bit”? Sure, why not, you’re helping me out here so obviously. Pick your poison :) Looks at the P3, thoughtful facial expression, “this one looks like it packs a punch!”. Off we go, I put the bipod on for him, show him the safety, mag, how to load and cycle etc… “careful with the trigger, it’s very very light”. He is a PB guy so… yeah yeah, don’t worry, I got this. Oki doki. Anyway, I turn around cause he wants to try the impact as well so I go back to my wall of toys and grab the impact to put another bipod on and top it off… The next thing I hear is a pretty loud BANG, followed by a couple of seconds of silence. Then comes a very lengthy “Oops…”. What did the idiot do? Take the mod off? Shot himself in the foot? Neither of those… he didn’t open the freaking window… so if you ever wondered how a 34gr at around 915fps goes through a window, it looks something like this:

Tuning  When did you decide to start working on your springers?

I remember the exact moment. I have been working on firearms for 40 years but was always hesitant to work on my springers because of the "danger" that a lot of people in the airgun world had me believing. Well one day back in 2017 I was having a simple issue with my Diana 240 classic so I called PA since that's where I got it from. Figured they would say "oh yeah this is what your problem is" WRONG, they transferred me to some lady at Umarex who was extremely rude and knew nothing about airguns. I ended up hanging up on her and said to myself "I have to learn to work on these things myself". So I started reading every article I could find, love Tom Gaylord's articles btw, and watched every video on youtube that I could. I ended up tuning all of my guns and a couple for friends, it was so much easier than I could have ever imagined and they all turned out spectacular. So if you're hesitant to work on your gun and you have any kind of mechanical background, don't be they are very simple. Usually whatever needs to be done there is a detailed video of it on youtube and everyone on here is always willing to help.
