HW 35D iron sight tricks.

Starting to like my HW 35 with iron sights since scoped, it is shooting poorly. I only got one insert for my front sight and it is narrow post. The iron sights line up good but I cannot seek the front post very well on the target. Gets worse with my glasses although the target looks clearer. What sight insert works best with being near sight. I want to order the right insert. Any tricks to make your front sight easier to see. Thanks for any replies.

I finally had a chance to push my slug guns out to 200 yards!

Our intentions were to shoot some Peeps, but with the sun in our eyes we had to settle for some 1/10th size steel targets!

Shooting this far with an airgun is seriously fun stuff!

NYPD goes PCP!

As a lifelong airgunner who's enjoyed them not only as a source of endless shooting pleasure but a means to keep my shooting skills sharper than any "real gun" shooters, it warms my heart to see them being embraced to combat the criminal element RUN AMOK in none other than New York City! It occurs to me the new PCP might be employed in a dual role as a less-than-lethal stun-gun... assuming an officer with skills enough to employ my preferred 'head shots only' against dangerous game.

Spring buzz vs accuracy?

I'm really curious, does spring buzz cause a decrease in accuracy?

I have absolutely no reason to ask, other than just plain curiosity.

We were out shooting our springers yesterday. Son was shooting his 22 cal Chinese break barrel and considering the limitations of the SKS looking sights, it's quite accurate at 20yds. At that distance, an equal for my hw35e. (My 35 e is considerably more powerful though). The Chinese Break barrel has no buzz whatsoever, just a dull thud. My HW has a pretty strong buzz to it.

Just curious.

The best and not so best trigger pull and cocking PCP rifles.

I'm sure this has been dragged over coals many times but without searching to find out I thought I'd put my inexperienced experience about trigger pull and cocking of the few air guns I have.

First off, I'm not putting down any or uplifting any, just my opinion.

I know for sure that the FX has the best trigger pull and unbelievable cocking mechanism! Can't believe anyone can argue that.

Next is the LCS, trigger pull, of course no cocking.

Without covering all my guns the HATSAN has the hardest trigger pull and for the non semi-auto the hardest cocking mechanism.

Having said that I totally enjoy all of them.

Is there a way to adjust the trigger pull on HATSAN's?

Joe

How much would you pay?

If you could get a Lothar-Walther barrel for your FX Maverick, machined what would it be worth to you? The reason I'm asking is I'm finding the only way is one off's but if enough were interested the machining cost might come down. I'm guessing either choked or un-choked, it MIGHT be cheaper to use an existing transfer port. Just a few random thoughts

Magazine issues

My recently purchased air rifle has an issue that the dealer claims is fairly common…..if you cock the gun with the barrel elevated , a pellet falls backwards against the probe allowing the magazine to rotate which prevents returning the cocking lever to closed position. If you insert a loaded magazine with the barrel pointed down, a pellet falls partially into the barrel. In other words, you can’t hunt critters in the trees or on the ground! I texted the dealer to see if the magazines were covered under warranty but no reply. To solve the problem…order mags from CARM.

Classifieds and pricing

Am I imagining it or are used guns not moving very well on the classifieds? I have seen quite a few nice guns of all brands sitting for what I would have thought extended periods of time and often not moving at all.
Are gun sales seasonal in this hobby? Or are folks hanging onto their money a little tighter these days? Do people have an exaggerated sense of what their guns are worth?
Just looking for some thoughts and opinions. I have no idea. Maybe I am seeing something that is not there?

200 yard first shot accuracy

It's fun to shoot groups at 200 yards (even further) and get yourself all dialed in and then shoot your 3 or 5 or 10 shot group quickly while the wind is consistent. But ranging your ground squirrel at 192 yards, and taking the shot in a few seconds before the squirrel runs away is a totally different ball game... First shot accuracy is paramount for hunting or pesting, and an order of magnitude harder than shooting 200 yards (or further) groups. What's my point? Hell, I don't know, was just thinking of long-range airgun hunting. :sneaky:
