2023 TEXtreme Field Target December score board

I too would like to thank the sponsors of Textreme Field Target; Airguns of Arizona, Sightron, Pellet Gage, and a very special thanks to Billy Davidson who made and donated the coolest door prizes ever! Thanks Billy!

The score boards are below stating with the overall rollup and equipment lists with days 1 and 2 separated below that. If any of y'all are paying attention, the scores are getting better as time goes on. Ron might have to think of way to "hamstring" some of these guys.

If you look closely enough you will see a score on day one that is out of numerical sequence. That is because a shooter with the initials of JW and a scorer with the initials of JM turned in a card that they added up to 35. Only problem was it should have totaled 45! Oops!

I'll see y'all at a shoot real soon.

N/A  Reaching THE PLATEAU.... ⭐ — and the contentment I found

Reaching THE PLATEAU.... ⭐

❓ In your search for more and better guns and accessories, have you subscribed to classified sections all over the interwebs, including forums and Ebay?
➔ I have. Like my life depended on it. 😳

❓ Have you been gobbling up those threads dealing with new guns and innovative accessories?
➔ I have. Like a bag of BBQ chips, or German chocolate. 🤪

And then....

I reached THE PLATEAU. ⭐

I came to realize: I don't need to hunt anymore for more:
▪ I GOT what I wanted. ✅
▪ And now I GET to enjoy what I have. ⭐

✅ Last year I GOT a beautiful PCP. It has full adjustability, just as I like it. 🤩
➠ Now I GET to use it!: Running pellet tests, BC tests, and hollow point expansion tests, and killing hundreds of pigeons in the process.
(For that, I need to go shooting instead of shopping.)
❓ What are YOU doing?

✅ Half a year ago I GOT my dream scope. 🤩
The price on a firearms classified section was so low... — my fingers literally were shaking as I was typing my response to the seller.
➠ Now I GET to use it!: Shooting extreme long range!
(For that, I need to go shooting instead of shopping.)
❓ What are YOU doing?

✅ Just now I was granted victory in my fight with the Peruvian customs agency — and GOT a (for me) very high power PCP — 75FPE in .25cal.
Very short, very adjustable, very beautiful. 🤩
➠ Now I GET to use it!
(For that, I need to go shooting instead of shopping.)
❓ And YOU?

✅ The only thing I might be lacking is a bottle clamp rail (52mm). But otherwise: 🤩
▪ As good laser rangefinders are unobtainable in the country where I work — I GOT a backup LRF for my backup LRF for my backup LRF for my regular LRF.
▪ I GOT over 50 varieties of .22cal pellets to test to find the magic pellet for each gun.

▪ I GOT a similar amount of varieties of slugs.
▪ I GOT all the adjustable scope mounts in all sizes that I could ever want or need.
▪ I GOT chronies, compressors, bottles, the works.
➠ Now I GET to use it — well, a very small part of all that! 😆
(And for that, I need to go shooting instead of shopping.)

🔴 Because there is really no REAL need to keep shopping.

Because I reached THE PLATEAU. ⭐

That unique place of contentment,
that level of thankful enjoyment,
that lofty goal I had been striving for and climbing towards for years and years.

➠ So, I have finally unsubscribed from the classifieds and other sales platforms.
I will control my pining for the next new gun or the next amazing scope to come out.
I'm going shooting. No more shopping. 🤩

❓ What about YOU?

I have been greatly blessed, far far beyond of what I deserve. ✅

Cheers,

Matthias 😊

N/A  Low power springer on a budget

I need some help from the springer folks. I’m a PCP, CO2, and SSP guy. I have a friend that has an invasive lizard problem, small ones not iguana.

He wants to spend under 200, so an HW30 is out of consideration. I’ve thought of CO2, but spring seems better for his application and use.

I’ve found the BSA comet and the Hammerli Hunter Force 600 as options.

Any of those worth a hoot for close pesting? I’m open to other recommendations please

I’m going to let him borrow my M853 with a scope in the meantime.

Thank you.

FX  Mav, imp, king or keep the crown?

Is 41gr slugs (zan) able to be stable at speeds under 900fps?
I want to shoot heavier slugs and dont know if my crown Will be able too (my superior heavy have not arrived yet).
Out to 150 and 200m.

I dont need to buy anything new, but something in me want something shooting faster even if I dont need it.

So my options is:

1. hope that the crown Will manage it

2. Buy a mav sniper .25 (1600usd)

3. Buy a used M3 .177 (1600usd) and buy a sniper liner kitt .25 (450usd)

3. Buy a king 600mm .25 (2200usd)

Edit: should maybe mention that this is not for hunting or competition, only backyard plinking

Any toughts?

Beeman  Beeman HW97 .20 cal update

Last spring I posted about my fortune to find this as-new right handed Beeman HW 97 in .20 caliber at the west coast airgun show and a number of members were polite enough to ask for a follow on post regarding its performance.

We’ll, I am not sure the gun had ever been fired and as expected it was packed full of grease. A couple of test shots when I got home were accompanied by excessive muzzle reports, my chronograph indicating the gun was making 18.5 fpe. Yikes! So I put it away as a rainy day project.

Winter has arrived and I finally got into the gun the other night, cleaned it and replaced the 15 year old seals. I am not a fan of heavy moly paste but that’s what I have on hand so lubed it up and put it back together. It has a fairly tight fitting main spring guide and a satisfying shot cycle, albeit a little slow at 13.5 fpe. Maybe a little too much lube or maybe the Vortek seal needs to wear in, I don’t know. Whatever the reason I am not inclined at this moment to chase more velocity as it feels and shoots great.

Below is my final (for this evening) 50 yard sight-in target. A tight little cluster slightly to the left followed by three slightly right after a few clicks for windage.

I think this gun is a keeper. I may have to put a proper field target scope on it and bring it to a match, lol!

Huben  Huben pistol in da house,....a long term review. Now with pictures.

Sorry I don't do those sexy YouTube review, but what I do is take you into a journey slowly giving you a bunch of data, a lot of pictures, mods and my personal take on things.

Today I spent a lot of time shooting my .25 ( I shot Billy's two .25s before )

As I did before I can just say that this pistol is amazing and I absolutely love it.

About the loading gate :

Today was the first time I used the factory one, and I found it just fine since I have to go get pellets out the tin one at a time and as I do that I rotate the cylinder with my left hand.

I already started re-shaping the grip,...first pictures will come when that is done.

Set the power so I get 6 shots from 250 BAR to 200 BAR, an other 5 to 150 BAR with the JSB MK II.....will eventually chono that.

Huben  Question about safety issue

I was looking at this for EFT but have safety concern. I know it has a safety but the gun is still loaded and hot. How do or is there a way to make it not "work" between stages besides the safety? Is it a matter of not having any pellets in the mag until you sit down and then load the required number of pellets and line the mag up and then shoot? Just curious because I know if I was a match director I wouldn't allow any gun on the range to be hot between stages. Is this the drawback with Huben?

Traditional Rifle  SOLD HW30S Urban Pro .177cal

Weihrauch HW30S Urban Pro .177cal tuned.
This airgun is basically new. (200 shots through it)
This is the quietist springer I have ever had in my life. The mod really does work, along with the tune. (I have a HW97 with a Mod on it and it's not even close to being as quiet as this HW30S)
Shoots JSB 7.33 at 687fps and H&N Baracuda Greens at 735fps, H&N FTT Green at 821 fps.
I tuned it myself with Vortek tune kit and Vortek piston seal. (I have done over 30 through the years)
Comes with the original Weihrauch 4x scope and mounts.
Price is $525 shipped, double boxed and insured
PayPal FF and MO's are accepted.
PM me with any questions as I always enjoy talking airguns.
If you need more pics, let me know.
Thanks,
Jason

Altaros slugs for 100 and beyond

I am going to start this off by saying that if you don't believe what I am posting than join the crowd because I don't either lol. It started off with following yet another rabbit hole with seeing different peoples experiences with altaros slugs and the general take on them was good so I decided to order some I ordered 2 packs In each weight ( 25cal ) so I got them and I didn't like the 50gr (because I wanted more power out of my fx panthera 700mm) and I wanted to shoot the 66gr but they didn't fit in my magazine so I ended up right in the middle at 60gr so i took them and velocity tuned them(850fps recommended by altaros) at home and got my es and sd really tight but i knew from experience tuning to many different slugs (including NSA H&N Patriot Javelins) that just getting your numbers tight doesn't mean that that you're going to get good groups. You have to harmonic tune, so I got out to shoot the first opportunity I had and of course it was raining foggy and some wind so I set and got sighted in at 50 yds and then shot a 3 shot group and it was one of the best 3 shot groups I had ever shot with slugs so I decided to move on out to 100 yds and I couldn't believe how good the 3shot group was especially considering the conditions
Ballistic-X-Export-2023-12-04 14_47_08.141659.png.jpg
so I shot a second group and this time I picked up the speed of my shooting because the wind started to pick up but I think it hurt me more than it helped me
Ballistic-X-Export-2023-12-04 14_48_48.502171.png.jpg
and for the final group I slowed down again and the results are nothing short of amazing
Ballistic-X-Export-2023-12-04 14_45_31.748217.png.jpg
I have spent so much time on tuning different slugs but these I spent almost no time at all and already they are shooting way better than I could've dreamed of shooting my other slugs

seeing the results of my gun my Dad wanted me to tune his fx impact m3 for the 50 gr slugs (850fps) and the next day we went out to our other range that has 300yds and we could not believe how good he was hittng all the way out at 200yds and 300yds here are some of the groups at 200 yds pretty windy conditions

2023 TEXtreme Field Target State Championships Match Report

Somedoggy looking forward to the State Championships!

Somedoggy.jpg

Contested in the most loverly December weather we could realistically have hoped for, the 2023 TEXtreme Rifle & Pistol State Championships weekend also went off not only according to schedule all weekend, but with nary a hitch, glitch, bobble or squabble. SAY WHAT?!?!

You heard it right. Contrary to some previous TEXtreme cluster-f… correction- ‘less than bobble-free’ events, somehow, miraculously, that senile OLD match director🥲 apparently got it right (this time).

Yes, the Earth has reversed polarity… like TEXtreme winds on (any) match day.🌪️ The three match days included.:D

Precipitation having ended overnight before the Friday Pistol TFT match, the pistoleros did endure cool, wet, and muddy ground conditions early on. However that not only improved as Fridays match progressed, but put no damper whatsoever on the HOT pistol goings-on.🔥

When the steam cleared, 2022 TEXtreme Field Target Pistol State Champion Pablo Bracaglia had successfully defended his title in no uncertain terms. Pablo’s perfect 60/60 score left little room for doubt about his pistol skills with ‘Ugly Stick’, a Benjamin Marauder rifle-to-pistol conversion of his own not-so-immaculate conception. Pablo’s perfect score ties the sixty-shot TEXtreme pistol course record. Ugly wears a UTG scope (the gun, not the shooter), and shoots 16 grain JSB pellets (the gun and shooter). For his efforts PB nabbed a $300 Airguns Of Arizona gift certificate, $150 in Airguns Of Arizona CASH 💵, a TEXtreme Airgun Sports Pistol Champion gold(ish) medal🏅, a TEXtreme Airgun Sports Pistol Champion pellet tin, and a Match Winner hat-pin. Congratulations Pablo; AWESOME SHOOTING!

Sixty-shot course record co-holder Derrick Wall was hot on Pablo’s heels👠 with an awesome 59/60 for Second Place. Derrick shot a .20 caliber Brocock Commander P topped with an Athlon Talos scope, shooting 13.73 grain JSB pellets at 800 FPS. DW pocketed a $200 AoA gift certificate, $100 in AoA CASH 💵, and a TEXtreme Airgun Sports Second Place pellet tin. Great shooting, Derrick!

Caleb Dickenson captured Third Place in the pistol championship with an excellent 57/60 score shooting a .177 Daystate(?) Pathfinder. Caleb’s Pathfinder wears an Athlon Talos 4-14X44 scope and shoots some kind of pellets 800 FPS. Caleb won a $150 AoA gift certificate and a TEXtreme Airgun Sports Third Place pellet tin for his pistol shooting. Good shooting, CD. (BTW, I report the information as written on scorecards.)

Since my partner in crime😎 Art Womack is going to assemble and publish spread-sheets on the RIFLE matches that include each rifle shooters’ equipment, for the sake of readers with low tolerance for my r-a-m-b-l-i-n-g, I won’t report the rifle equipment information here. I’m SO good to Y’all!

Aforementioned partner in crime🦹‍♂️ set a new TEXtreme sixty-shot rifle course record in Saturdays Rifle Match #1 with an incredible 58/60 score.:D Art negotiated the tricky NORTH winds in super-human🧌 fashion in edging Extreme Field Target National Champion Caleb Dickinson by one point in Saturdays rifle match. Obviously the hot shooting didn’t end with the pistol match.

Not far behind in Rifle Match 1 came Jim Martin with a 55/60, followed closely by me with a 54. That mostly sets the stage for Rifle Match #2, and the final rifle podium results.

With Sundays Rifle Match #2 starting earlier than usual for TEXtreme matches🥱, for the first third to half of the match wind conditions were considerably less obnoxious than usual. However forecasts for winds arriving about mid-match proved accurate; unfortunately did not foretell how devious said winds could be! Swirling and shifting upon arrival, they then decided to be southerly; still swirling and shifting. Consequently totally different winds than Saturdays rifle match. Just how much the different winds had to do with a rearrangement of the podium is anybody’s guess, but rearrange the podium they did! 🤨

Caleb Dickenson’s third 57/60 score of the weekend was excellent enough to secure him the 2023 TEXtreme Field Target Rifle State Champion title, to add to his 2023 Extreme FT National Champion title. His 114/120 aggregate rifle score proved a comfortable margin of victory.👌 Caleb nabbed the Sightron SIII rifle scope, a $100 Airguns Of Arizona gift certificate, the 2023 TEXtreme Field Target Rifle Champion gold(ish) medal🏅, the 2023 TEXtreme Field Target Rifle Champion pellet tin, and a Match Winner hat-pin for his fine shooting. Great shooting, Caleb!(y)(y)(y)

Having hoped to hang on to Fourth Place or jump into Third with my Match 2 result, although my 53/60 in Rifle Match #2 isn’t particularly impressive, my 107/120 weekend rifle aggregate proved just enough to leap-frog🐸 two places from my Match 1 standing by the hair on my froggy chin-chin. And though I usually consider Second Place an ungratifying consolation prize🤮, this is one of the most gratifying First Loser🥴 titles I’ve captured in decades of competition airgunning. The $400 AoA gift certificate has much to do with that. However I won’t be embarrassed to wear the Second Place silver(ish) medal🥈 to the Old Geezers Disco🕺, nor put the Second Place TEXtreme pellet tin to good use. Maybe even in public.😱

Jim Martin’s 106/120 aggregate score was good for Third Place. Jim pocketed a $300 AoA gift certificate, a Third Place bronze(ish) medal🥉, and a TEXtreme Airgun Sports Third Place pellet tin for his efforts. Excellent shooting, Jim.

Tied for the fourth podium place after Sundays Rifle Match #2 with aggregate scores of 104/120 were Art Womack and Derrick Wall. Derrick prevailed in the one-round shoot-off to capture the Fourth Place $200 AoA gift certificate and a TEXtreme Airgun Sports pellet tin. Good shooting, D.

For the first time in TEXtreme history we crowned a two-gun Rifle/Pistol TEXtreme State Champion based on the aggregate of each shooter’s weekend match scores. Consequently Caleb Dickenson added yet another title to his relatively short Field Target career with an impressive 171/180 weekend aggregate. Also a solid 24 karat gold (colored) TEXtreme Rifle/Pistol State Champion pellet tin. BIG CONGRATULATIONS, CALEB!🍾

Two Gun Award.jpeg

Although there were no other aggregate awards, for interest sake Derrick finished second in the two-gun aggregate competition with a fine 163/180, and I was third with 160.

Prior to Saturday’s shooters meeting we had door🚹🚪 prize drawings. What we lacked in quality door prizes we made up for in quantity and ‘differnt’. Most of the weekends seventeen shooters won door prizes.

Besides the most-generous donation of the SIII Field Target model rifle scope awarded to the 2023 TEXtreme Field Target Rifle State Champion, Sightron Optics also donated very nice Sightron caps, boxes of 50 Sightron lens wipes, and Sightron catalogs for our schwag-bags. MANY THANKS, SIGHTRON!

Strangely, Caleb’s Sightron cap that fit with room to spare Saturday wouldn’t fit at all Sunday evening.🤠 Must’a shrunk overnight… or something.

Of course we want to thank Airguns Of Arizona not only for the gift certificates and $250 cash 💵 distributed to the top shooters, but their sponsorship and support for TEXtreme efforts all along. THANK YOU, AoA!

And thanks to Jerry Cupples for the PelletGage notebooks used in our schwag-bags. And your ongoing support.

Lastly, thanks to Worm’s Smokehouse for catering the Saturday and Sunday hot lunches. They were great!

With the State Championships now behind us, it’s time to start pondering the 2024 TEXtreme Airgun Sports competition season. Stay tuned, Y’all.

And Hoppy🐸 Shooting,
Ron & Maggyy

Huben  Carbine Conversion Kit for GK-1

I received an e-mail from Buck Rail this morning, it appears Terry already has a working prototype Carbine Conversion Kit in the works for the GK-1.

Image 12-5-23 at 6.18 AM.jpg

Looks like this could be a winner for those wanting to convert their GK-1 to a compact carbine with a folding stock. Personally, I'm really interested in the shroud that appears to have a full length Picatinny Rail on top and under the air cylinder.
