DonnyFl Clipping issues

Hey guys,

Say I have been shooting my ghost more lately trying to get a slug worked up. Before when I had my 30 barrel I was using a DonnyFl Yokozuna and was having really bad clipping issues with both pellets and slugs. I thought I had a massive issue with the barrel not shooting, but when the Yoko was removed everything was fine. Well now that I have my 22 barrel I wanted went to test pellets and slugs today. Well I was able to get some basic tests done and accuracy looked decent with a few pellets and a few of my slugs. But when I put on either the Ryu or the Yokozuna I was watching the projectiles spiral like crazy. Removed the units and the accuracy was right back to where it should be.

I am wondering if anyone else is having issues with the quick removal mount on these units? I have a few other units to try out but with this ghost I am not having any luck with the Donny units on this rifle.

The original barrel had the full shroud and not in the 22 I have the tension barrel kit.

So what are you guys experiencing with these units?

Umarex  Made my own Notos magazine

Fist of all, I know that there are plenty of good aftermarket Notos Magazines (Carm, Maple, etc.). Partly I just like the challenge and the fun of trying new things. I designed a Avenger magazine previously, but made this one a bit differently. So for, it is working well, but I think I have a few small adjustments I will make.

- 10 rounds
- removable lid (attached by magnets)
- shot indicator for the last 4 rounds (although the last one is hidden when in the gun)
- I inlayed the text by printing a 2 layer STL of just the text, then switching filament and printing the rest around it (first time I tried that technique, and it worked very nicely)
- it doesn't have the ridge on the back, making it easier to print, but it still locates just fine (and take less fumbling to get lined up).

FX  M3 @ 1100fps Results might surprise you !!!

I am going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons...

It seems to be the accepted "Normal" to run velocities of sub 1000fps.

My preference and use of my Airgun is extended range... my go to distance i shoot most is 200yds ... and all the way out to 500yds.

Along the journey of many many many "Slugs" downrange by chance i found the NSA 22cal 27.5gr ( 218 ) in my M3 "Loved" velocity !!! This combo has produced some of the best groups i have achieved with the M3.
I usually just shoot this slug and tune at 200yds to which it is very consistent and very accurate . Today prompted by my "Other" thread i thought id run through some groups at 105 yds....varying breeze and a mother of storms brewing in the background.

As can be seen , of the groups a few are just over 1/2 moa......and as the wind settled towards the end i shot the 20 shot group that goes at 1 moa, BUT ...19 of the shots went 3/4 moa!!

This combo holds up extremely well... :)

N/A  Help me brainstorm the right airgun

for my next gun I am looking for something in either 30 or 35 cal. I am looking for high shot count. Ik this isn’t an easy feature to ask for but I know that there are some guns out there that fit my needs. I’m talking I want at least 30 shots per fill. So far the only guns that ik of that fit these criteria are the fx impact and the fx maverick. Can anyone name any other guns that I can look into? Thanks

EDgun  Leshiy 2 double cycling

Just got a like new L2 .30 from the classifieds here. I think it is a 2024 build. Today I was shooting the JSB Match Diabolo Hades. 30 Cal, 44.75gr, Hollowpoint pellets. I have noticed they fit really tight. You kind of have to press them in a little.

I have this issue where after a shot the magazine skips a pellet. In other words, it steps 2x. Sometimes it steps 1.5 times and the magazine needs to be adjusted. So out of the 8 shot every other shot is fired. Also, my pellet speeds are inconsistent from 850 slowly going down to 650 after like 10 shots with the regulator still reading 240 bars.

Any ideas?

Other  Sad stats for springers

For those who don’t follow the Tinbum Tuning channel on YouTube, Nick posted a video yesterday where he shared statistics on what age groups his audience is composed of:

18-24: 0.5% (Nick, “Where’s the future of our sport?”)
25-34: 4.4%
35-44: 9.2%
45-54: 17.6% (Nick’s age group)
55+ : 68.5%

Here’s the link:

I'd be interested in hearing what Airgun Nation thinks about this.

AIR GUN PELLETS QUALITY

I am wondering about this. Is the price for a pellet determine the quality and repeatability of a pellet? I dont know much about tolerances of a pellet ,how they do it. Is one company the best for repeatability and tolerances? If so, I wont waste my time on one brand , I would just go for the more/most expensive one to save time and money knowing I am going to get the quality pellet for competition/hunting purposes.

First compressor purchase

I'm about to take the plunge into the world of PCPs and looking into my first compressor purchase. This unit would primarily just be used for directly filling rifles. I think I have settled on the XMI Bullshark, but would like this compressor to be able to handle filling bottled rifles and possibly small tanks in the future, but not sure if this will ever become a need. I'm currently leaning toward the GX CS3-I, but also considering just going with the CS1-I to save some money. I have read many recommendation for the CS4 units, but I do not plan on needing the power and do not want to step up into that price range.

It's difficult to determine what the advantages of the CS3-I would be over the CS1-I for the increased price. I believe either would suffice for just filling rifles directly. Would either of these options work for filling smaller bottles up to maybe 3L if I eventually get deeper into the hobby?

WTF PA?!

So I ordered some pellets for the fortitude build. PA shipped them out via AMAZON!!! These jackasses sent them to the wrong address in THE WRONG STATE! I've emailed them but no response yet.

Why on earth did they sub out the shipping to Amazon? They have the absolute worst handling I've ever seen.

Needless to say I'm pissed and it's highly doubtful they'll ever get my money again if they don't resolve this properly. They're overpriced on airguns anyways, I only buy pellets for the 3+1 deal. I'd rather send that money to The Pellet Shop or UA now.

Looking for Guidance with Stock Checkering and Woodworking

Hello Friends,

I’m interested in doing some work on a stock and grip and have been looking into checkering and wood carving (hence the recent post looking for @cavedweller ’s stock made by Jose Valencia). I watched some YouTube videos from Midway, another from a gunsmith and I think I generally understand the checkering process but just want to make sure I’m getting the correct tools because they seem outrageously expensive. The cheap Dem Bart starter kits seem to be no longer available, I can’t tell if gunline is still in business and carbide tipped tools range $70-$120/piece.

I suppose it’s a dying art so the tooling is being produced in smaller runs. However I’d love to give it a shot! Seems like I need the following at minimum->
  1. Tool to scribe some reference lines
  2. Flexible ruler
  3. Layout guide
  4. Push style single line cutter 60 degree
  5. Push style single line cutter 90 degree
  6. Skip line or double line cutter to ensure the next line is parallel
  7. Small pull cutter for work close to the edges or a V style veiner.
  8. Some sort of flourish cutter for the borders.
  9. A bigazz pile of walnut scrap to practice on
Can someone confirm if these are the right tools and if I’m missing anything or if I can get by with only a 90 degree cutter or use a 75 degree so I don’t need to buy both.

I’m aware of how time consuming the process is and that actually makes it even more attractive. I find those types of activities very relaxing, I used to paint miniatures so this is right in line : )

Of course any recommendations for books, videos, articles, etc would also be appreciated. Including for all airgun related woodworking. I already saw the fantastic 6 part DIY stock making guide on pyramid air’s blog which I believe was written by a member here.

Thank you and hope you’re all having a nice start to the weekend!!!

Tuning  Would a tank enjoy a depinger, or only cylinders?

I have a Benji Kratos and was looking at doing things to make it even more quiet. I found out about depinging, but I only really see those used on guns with cylinders such as the Marauder, etc. Do guns with tanks have the same "ping" issue as those with cylinders, and would my Kratos tank benefit from adding a baby bottle brush or something?

Context.

Thanks!

Airforce  Talon SS Refurbishment

I picked up a non-working .22 Talon SS a month or so back. My first foray into AirForce. Didn't hold air and the seller was not mechanically inclined. Got it cheap :) .

Fixed the valve on the bottle, o'ring came out in 3 pieces. That made the gun serviceable. Fired it didn't chrony.

I had a 1.1L fat bottle from one of my less stellar *ideas* and figured WTF and ordered a Cricket Z-Valve from Huben Power. It arrived and is now installed with the 1.1L and in the "does it hold air overnight" testing phase.

In the mean time I ordered a bunch of parts from Trajectron in India. Springs, hammers, Spin-Loc kit. The latter turned into a farce so that got put to the back of the queue.

Ordered some high flow (6mm orifice) internals for the standard valves from AliExpress.

Tomorrow I'll put it through the chrony and see how it works with the Huben/1.1L combo. Try some pellets and slugs, get the baseline with the same mid-point power setting.

Once all the parts are in I'll play with the high flow valve, 2 different hammers and a heavy spring. Probably start with the Huben Regulator to see how it does with the heavy hammer and spring. Then the high flow valve.

I have a Huben MAX-ATH Universal coming in so I may see if that 50cc plenum adds anything to the mix.

Still not a fan of the single shot form factor. Lacks the instant gratification of a Semi auto and the usability of a bolt/lever action.

N/A  Pistol for wife

Bought her a Crossman silhouette for Christmas. I didn’t really look at its specs before buying, I just thought its nice. But before shipping I realized it was single shot. Tried to cancel with amzon but too late. So I gave it to her and then returned.

So I want to get her a replacement. Man I like that Huben but not yet. I have a Reximex rpa which I like. I’ve been looking but not finding.
Pricewise tops $700 ish.

any recommendations that are actually buyable would be appreciated
thanks

Where to buy Airguns for good price

I want to share a few places I know where to buy Airguns.
I have been buying from these 3 places for a long time
1st is Natches shooter supply, and when you do this search go to the 2 ND listing down on Google.
There is a little secret here. In the website click on 3 bars in left hand corner choose shooting. Then choose recreational shooting at bottom.
Choose Airguns high to low they have some good sale prices , but here is the secret don't search just airguns go back , and search airgun accessories.
Here you will find some more airguns for great sales. I just missed a Hatsan
Neutron star for $505.
Place 2 is Buds gun shop. Just type in air then scroll down to airguns. Again go high to low to avoid little things.
Both places have the Hatsan Sniper Long at great prices. And Buds has a Gauntlet 2 sl in .22 for $327 free shipping. The last place is Guns Arizona.
I'm hoping this post will help some air gunners in this Nation.
