My DIY scopecam project

I decided a few months ago to build my own scopecam. I had watched lots of YT videos and researched lots of threads looking for information and options. I decided to use a cheap $89 action cam from Amazon that would film 240FPS at 720p. Similar to the Firefly but less than half the price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09LH8JFVF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Yes, I love watching Orion's video's smacking iguanas in slo-mo with tracers! One more thing about the camera. The 170* lens will not work, and has to be changed out with either a 12mm or 16mm lens. I ordered one of each off of Amazon for less than $25. Some cameras the lens is easily removed and others it is not. (I have an old GoPro 2 that it is impossible to swap lenses in, so do your research.)

Next I ordered a prismatic cube from Aliexpress that would turn the images 90* and reflect images to the camera. It has a 70/30 split, so I directed 70% of the light to the camera for better images. It took over a month to arrive but was less than half the price of ebay items at only $28. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...cs6yMVr&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa&_randl_shipto=US

Here I'll say that I am not a machinist. I wish I had machining skills, but everything I know (very little) I've learned watching YT videos. I made several mistakes the first of which was cutting my mounting bracket into two pieced diagonally first thing. I should have cut a square, then drilled/tapped the holes for the mounting screws, bored it too size and then cut it diagonally with a slitting saw on the mill. I faced the 2 cut edges on the mill, then mounted it in 4 jaw on the lathe, drilled and bored to the proper dimension to mount on the scope. I left a lip on the back to hold the prismatic lens housing and keep it from slipping out.

Free air

Less than a year ago I bought and Alkin compressors. It is a great compressor. But now the college that teach at is building a new building for the trades and one of the programs that will be in the new building is structural fire fighting. They are installing a cascading (not sure exactly what that means) HPA system for their bottles. So know that I recently invested in a high quality compressor myself I have easy access to free air. Should I keep/sell my compressor? Any unforeseen disadvantages to relying on their air? Even though my compressor is very good certainly their system will be even better, meaning even drier air, right?

FX Impact?

Hello all, brand new to the forum! I have been watching a ton of videos on PCPs for many years now and I think it may be time to dive in.

I currently shoot 1000yd BR, have shot .22 NRL matches, and am a big predator hunter. But this Airgun stuff is new to me.

If you were to get one gun, that you could shoot squirrels, woodchucks, fox, other vermin, and still take to the bench for a few matches….is the Impact a good choice?

I like how you can change barrels, and all the upgrades and mods you can do. I recently bought a compressor from a local guy that strongly recommended FX, so now I just need my first gun!

Thanks for any guidance!

I have 1 zero DB in .30 ($150.00) compare at $269.00

From the Southern permission today

First post....

From our Southern permission today. 55 ground squirrels met their maker between the two of us. That brings the total on this property to 279 in the last couple of months.

On the white ground squirrel. There is a few of them on this property. I had never seen one before hunting this property. To date, we have taken 5. Seen a couple more today that were too far out to shoot at. Kind of different...

BSA Gold star SE edition .177

I was after a used Steyr 110 or an Air Arms HFT 500, no luck. I’m impatient so… Then I almost had a BSA gold star Union Jack edition - but it was lost in the mail 😩 any of these platforms would be a nice way to get started in HFT. Two days ago I caught wind of a website called Ransony. They had one BSA gold star edition FT model in black pepper laminate available at <$300 less than anywhere else; $980. They are also a seller on Amazon. I Took a chance and less than 48 hours later I have a beautiful new BSA HFT platform to begin my HFT journey with. It arrived without damage and It charged right up and held air. I cycled a magazine through it without even putting a scope on it. All good. Now I have to wait on some dovetail to picitinny adapters so I can scope it properly with my FT specific scope. Does anyone know if I need to add some elevation to the scope mounts for FT?
Although only.177 and <20 FPE, It does bark. I tried to put a 0DB moderator on it’s pre threaded barrel but the moderator is a millimeter or two, too fat and unless I remove the charging port cover the moderator causes the barrel to deflect upwards ever so slightly - I’m wondering if the barrel is slightly tweaked downward or ??? It comes with an air stripper but it’s not a quiet thing. Any sage advice welcome!

Impact M3 louder than usual (probably a simple fix I'm overlooking)...

Hello AGN:

I haven't done much with any of my airguns this year due to work and other hobbies (mostly golf). My previously uber trusty (and relatively quiet) Impact M3 0.25 is behaving oddly after I recently double loaded it by accident. Shortly after the double loading, there's a noticeably louder pop at the breech side near my ear when I shoot it. I tried replacing the Tatsu with a larger Sumo then Ronin mod to check for any change in the report - and the pop sounded the same with all three mods so it appears that the sound is coming from the breech side and not from the moderator side.

I thought maybe I'd blown out the breech o-ring but it was still there; I replaced it anyways thinking it might have been damaged. The louder pop was still there even with the newly replaced o-ring. I tried re-seating the barrel and pellet probe as well as swapping out multiple magazines but those didn't fix it either.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?

[FWIW, I shot my M3 0.22 that is shooting slugs at a much higher FPS and don't get the pop at the breech - only the normal muffled report on the moderator side...]

Thanks in advance for the help!

SOLD Shoebox F10

Consider this a parts lot as it is currently NON-FUNCTIONAL, and reflected in the price.

92-93hrs on the thing, I'm the first and only owner.

I'm realizing I don't have: mostly the time, but also a little bit the patience to get er running again.

Sale includes 4 complete rebuild kits (and a couple partials), 3 spare slow-blow fuses and some random parts like spacers for the large piston and some not very used felts for the oiler.

I know for sure that it needs a new fan and new brass bushings for the crank arm connection. The brass bushings are a couple bucks from McMaster Carr.

It MAY need a new power switch b/c the current one will turn it on, but not off, it has to be unplugged to turn it off. The switch may be fine though, after a new fan is wired in? The switch also controls the fan.

And it MAY need something else that I'm unaware of? (If I knew exactly what it needed I wouldn't be selling it.)

There's also something going on with the bushing on the right support column to where it won't stay in place. That may go away with new bushings in the crank arm connection?

Estimating a weight of 30# and looks like shipping to the East coast would be about $100.

I'd like $200, net to me. Buyer pays actual shipping. I've been slightly burned on "buyer pays shipping" before so I would like $300, through PayPal and then I'll refund back the difference in actual shipping, up to $100. And I'll send buyer a photo of the shipping receipt.

(example, you want it, so you pay me $300 through PayPal, F&F. I take it to shipper and it costs $50 to send it to your location. I will send you a photo of the shipping receipt and pay your PayPal account $50 back since that was the difference in shipping). That way, I get the $200 net, and you paid the $50 for shipping.

Located in AZ if that helps to factor in shipping. And I'll only ship to contiguous 48 states, unless you're willing to pay more than $100 for shipping, if it costs that much to get it to you.

I've still got the original box/packaging that it came to me in and it'll ship in that same packaging.

PM if interested

Search my post history and past classifieds dealings if the refunding of excess shipping costs concerns you. A sale of the compressor will play out exactly as described above.

(also, for any interested buyers that will be at EBR in a few weeks, I'll be there and a pass-off at the event would be the easiest for both of us. For an easy peasy EBR pass off I'd take $175).

SOLD RTI Prophet Compact .22 cal Like New lotsa pics

I only shot it maybe 50 times since I bought last year. I installed a bigger 300 cc FX tank and adjusted the hammer spring to shoot 18 grn JSBs at 910 fps with the reg pressure that came from the dealer set at 140 psi. I don’t know how many shots per fill but it should be more with the larger bottle. I really don’t want to sell it but I have an FX M3 in .22 as well. I don’t want to part with that one so the prophet must go.
I will ship it in the case it came with. It also has a vertical ergo grip. I no longer have the original grip but can include a factory fx m3 grip if you like. This is a nice gun to carry around because it’s so light and handy. I also have the manual. It will ship with one magazine.
I would like $1100 shipped to cont US addresses via FedEx ground. Payment via PP plus the processing fee. This is for the gun, case, mag, owners manual and the parts I mentioned earlier. If you would like the scope, a Veyron 3-12x44 FFP and rings, add $150. For the Hugget Atom, add $75.

No trade offers please.

Thanks for your consideration,
Gabe

Guess what I got…

I got back into airguns as an adult (I’m 32) about 6-7 years ago. Since then I’ve had a few guns but they have all been budget guns usually around 200-500 dollars. I played with PCPs and gas ram guns, and recently I purchased a Hammerli Hunter Force 900 based off some good reviews…Well it sucked, it’s really bad as far as fit and finish and the trigger is 8+ lbs and I started to realize I just need to get what I always wanted so.

I got a TX200 and it’s the best thing I’ve purchased in a long time. Pyramyd Air is only an hour from me so I got next day delivery and WOW! I understand the jaw dropped reviewers now bc I am already so accurate with this and I haven’t even shot 50 shots. I’m using FTT 4.51 right now bc that’s the first tin I grabbed running out of the house to shoot it. I’ve never shot high end anything and this is just a dream come true to shoot. I got the Pyramyd Air scope package bc it came with the scope I wanted for it anyways and the bundle was cheap! I know everyone has one of these now but it’s a big deal to me and I’m super pumped to have it.

I will be doing a chrono test and the works soon but I just wanted it sighted today and it’s already so easy to be accurate I’m happy I waited this long to buy one bc I learned a lot.

Advantage of hammerless?

I’ve wondered for a while why all the hammerless guns are semi/full auto. If you could run a traditional biathlon setup and magazine you would have a smoother cocking, and no ping. I also thing this would be much quieter then the semi auto setup and more efficient. Just a thought, hammerless setup with side shot style mag in a bullpup.
