How about not using 100% lead for slugs?

Here's a thought how about not using a 100% soft lead but a lead alloy instead for lighter weight slugs that are the size of full size slugs. For example you can have a slug the size of a 40 grain 22 but only weight 34 or 30 gr thus allowing higher bc. Easier to obtain high speeds? And with the new Pantera magazine even longer slugs can be made but still maintaining lighter weight.

Thoughts?

Glock PCP Pistol!

Hopefully, a maker will read this and make one!

For a police officer like myself, along with fellow CCW civilian shooters, such a pistol would be a dream come true since we would be able to practice at home with a copy of the gun that we carry every day

I have a Umarex Glock, which is close, but because it is a CO2, the trigger feel is very different than that of a real Glock, plus we need to have an endless supply of cartridges.

Why hasn't anyone made one yet? My guess would be limited space for the air source, but I would gladly fill it with my compressor every 30 shots or so

What do you all think about this??

I would be interested to know

And Merry Christmas

Problem installing fx integrated harmonic barrel tuner

This morning I have been trying to install the integrated harmonic barrel tuner. From all the videos I have seen it should go on to the impact the same way the oem threads on. I have been trying to install the new shroud for a while but it does not seem to line up the same way the oem one does. When looking down the shroud during installation I notice the holes do not line up with the barrel so it seems like the integrated tuner is defective. Seems as though I need to return it. Has anyone else had this issue?

The 3 different JSB 25.39 redesigned

MOST already know this.... But I have found there are 3 different JSB redesigned pellets. Out of my 2019 and before tins, I have found the top two pellets about even depending on the tin and out of my 2020-2021 tins seem to be between the middle and bottom pellet, the middle pellet being the majority. The 2022 tins I have bought JSB or FX branded seem to be all the bottom pellet which I call the deep base. The top shallow base pellets seem to shoot the best out of my pellet rifles, followed by the middle pellet and lastly the bottom pellet, the current one. You have to shoot what you can buy.

FX Impact M3 Loss of Velocity

Hi All

I am in need of help as my 16 month old FX Impact M3 600mm barrel (.22 / 5.5mm) has suddenly lost velocity.

FACTS:
(1). M3 - .22 - 16 months old - 4000 pellets shot - never had a slug in the barrel

(2). All original factory settings - Never adjusted, tuned or changed.
Hammer Spring = 16 (Factory - Never adjusted!)
Micro Adjuster = 1.5. (Factory - Never adjusted!)
Valve = 4.5 turns. (Factory - Never adjusted!)
First Regulator = 150 BAR (Factory setting)
Second Regulator = 75-78 BAR. (Factory - Never adjusted!)

(3). Velocity (JSB 18.13 gr) was, for 16 months always around 870fps on the factory settings as shown above.

(4) About 3 weeks ago velocity dropped to 840 fps

(5) About 2 weeks ago velocity dropped to around 800 fps

So, when I noticed 800 fps, I now decided to try increasing the regulator pressure (bear in mind, that until now all settings were still factory and had NEVER BEEN touched). Increased the second regulator pressure to 95 BAR and velocity dropped to around 720 fps with hammer spring on 16. As the velocity had decreased further I decided to return the regulator to original setting.

(6). Removed bottle, depressurised gun and reset regulator to original 75-78 BAR. Ran FX Radar chronograph over 8 shots and velocities were: 779, 784, 800, 821, 810, 823, 786, 810. Spread of 44, Standard Deviation of 17.1.

(7) I stress, this rifle has NOT had any tuning or changing of the factory settings (as above) because it gave me the accuracy and velocity I required. However, for some reason the velocity has dropped and the extreme spread is indeed extreme!

Has anyone got any ideas. Something has gone wrong somewhere.

Thanks

Matt

Hunters insurance

Going hunting on public lands is OK, but private land hunting is much better, IMHO. Getting permission can be frustrating. One of the biggest impediments is liability. A landowner will worry about the idea you might have, or cause, an accident which they may be liable for. After all, the best accident attorneys will sue everybody in sight just to see what sticks.

I've seen some companies offering special hunting insurance policies that alleviate this worry. Anybody here have such a policy? Does it help you find places to hunt? Is it worth it?

BSA Meteor Super Initial Impressions

Got my .177 Meteor Super in this morning and have about 50 shots through it. I can't imagine anything is going to change so here are my unasked for thoughts and opinions on this gun.

20221224_140513.jpg

Stock: Looks darn good but that comb just isn't great for iron use. I had to crane my neck forward and down to get a decent sight picture. For scope use though it is fantastic. My head falls right into place and I'm ready to go instantly. Zero complaints in that department. The butt pad is soft and grips my shoulder well. If really does feel great to shoulder this gun.

20221224_140742.jpg
20221224_140720.jpg

Metal finish: "meh". The bluing isn't great and machine markes are pretty obvious if you look closely. From a few feet back it looks absolutely fine though. Good from afar, but far from good. While this isn't really a "finish" aspect of the gun I would like to note that BSA was kind enough to add a threaded barrel. That was a nice touch!

Trigger: Suprisingly not terrible. I do want to say I like it better than the Terrus trigger but I need time with it still. Its absolutely no Rekord but I don't think anyone was expecting it to be. I didn't use a scale but I'll put it somewhere around 3lbs. There is a very light "first stage" take up followed by a solid wall. Theres a bit of creep before tripping but it really isn't terrible. Its a hunting trigger through and through but nothing to write home about.

EDIT: NOTES TO ADD TO TRIGGER PULL

Trigger pull weights (5 pulls):
2lbs 11.5oz
2lbs 14.2oz
2lbs 13.8oz
2lbs 12.4oz
2lbs 14.6oz
20221224_183215.jpg

Trigger pull weight is on the heavier side but it is pretty consistent which I am happy about. Like I stated before, it is certainly no Rekord but still plenty usable.

Cocking Effort and Feel: I like it. Pretty easy and pretty quick. Very smooth down stroke but entirely too much rubbing noise in the up stroke. It sounds like the cocking arm is dragging across the stock and its annoying especially concidering how quiet the lockup and cocking stroke actually are. I'll be fixing this first.

Shot Cycle and Recoil: Its quick but the recoil is fairly tame. I dont hate it at all but time will tell here too. I did find the gun to be a tad jumpy but getting my hand between the gun and front bag completely fixed that issue. Suprisingly the jumpiness didn't affect the group sized too much.

Iron sights, trigger and safely are all a big turn off. They are incredibly cheap plastic which have no place on a gun with a $350 ($499 retail?) price tag. The rear sight is held on by a Phillips head screw. I don't know about any of you guys but I hate Phillips head screws. They just scream "good enough" and "costs were cut" when I see them on a gun.

20221224_140804.jpg
20221224_140745.jpg

Accuracy: I am happy with the accuracy so far. I did not shoot this gun a whole lot but I did put 20 shots on paper at 12yds (10 per group) to see where the gun stands. I used a few different holds through this process and did not find the gun to be particularly hold sensitive which is fantastic on a gun I plan to use for small pests. I fully expect these groups to improve with time as there was a very distinct smell of dieseling throughout the whole process.

20221224_134955.jpg

Accuracy Update: 10 Shots using 8.2gr Meisterkugeln @ 12yds. These appear to be the clear winner as of now. Hoping the wind dies down soon to see what the gun can do at a more appropriate 30m

20221225_120706.jpg

Velocity: 5 shots over the chrono (will test more) show very consistent readings with JSB 8.44gr. ES of 4fps with a SD of 1.5fps. Two thumbs up if that remains consistent. I'll be very happy with 12 and 3 over a 20 shot string though.

Screenshot_20221224-132026_FX Radar.jpg

Weight and Balance: Gold star and I do mean GOLD. It is an incredibly handy little rifle that keeps up with the Terrus and HW50S all day in this department. Its a pleasure to shoulder and even with my heavy 4-16x UTG Swat on there the gun balanced phenomenally.

Would I recommend it? In a world where the HW50S already exists, absolutely not, at least not for its going price. The 50S is basically the same price and is superior in nearly every way. While it does look very nice for the most part the overall quality is closer to what you would find on a Gamo than you would a Weihrauch yet the price tag says differently. I'm not upset that I paid $350 for this gun but I honestly don't see it being worth more than $250-$300 out the door. That being said, so far I do truly like this gun and I look forward to toying around with it over the next few weeks. This gun seems to have great potential.

I finally did it...and I don't know why I waited so long!

Hey AGN:

I got into PCP's about 15-20yrs ago (it was so long ago that I don't remember the exact year) and have spent many thousands of dollars buying every rifle and accessory I've ever wanted...but never committed to buying perhaps the most important piece of equipment for this hobby: a compressor.

I'm a seasonal airgunner that's mostly only active from October through February and spend the rest of the year golfing. I don't punch a lot paper and I don't sit behind my guns for hours doing full shot strings trying to figure out shot counts, extreme spreads & standard deviations. In most years, I'll probably only go through about 3-5 tanks of air and 1-2 tins of pellets.

Early on, I got several SCBA tanks and bought a 12 tank fill card from a local dive shop way back when they were only charging about $4-$5 per 4500psi fill. I've only used 3 of those 12 fills all this time because of my infrequent use, it seemed like every other time I went to that dive shop to fill the tanks, they'd require a new visual inspection or full on hydro - which ranged from $35-$75 depending on what was needed. This felt like a lot to pay for use little as I was filling the tanks.

Several years ago, local airgunning buddy jack.k got the deal of a lifetime on a top-tier Alkin compressor and that poor man has been filling my tanks for me out of the goodness of his heart ever since! On a number of occasions, I started to do the research on compressors and it seemed like you really only had two choices: 1) buy a cheap $300 Chinese junker and accept the fact that you'll be replacing them every once in awhile or 2) spend $3,000-$4,000 (or more) for a top tier unit (all of the mid-tier stuff all seemed very unremarkable and randomly unreliable). None of those options were very appealing to me so I never made the commitment and, instead, made the 40 minute each way a few times a year to bogart some air from Jack.

Truth be told, the other reasons I put off getting a compressor were concerns about: how complex they'd be to use, how much maintenance they'd require and, probably most importantly, that I'd do something stupid and blow myself up! Since COVID, I'd had a lot more time to really start tweaking my rifles and have gotten to know them at a much deeper level than ever before. That involves a lot more air than I'd typically used in the past. As luck would have it, I arranged to pick up a rifle from local Bay Area seller who also happened to be selling his Omega Air Charger compressor as well.

I did the research and it turns out that this is one of the mid-tier compressors that has generally received very good reviews over time. It's far from the fastest option out there but most everyone raved about their reliability year after year. So I ended up picking up the Air Charger along with the rifle and am so glad that I did. I'm not going to lie - I still thought I was going to blow myself up the first time I used it but it turns out that it's very easy to use and can top off my 60 minute SCBA tank from 3000psi to 4500psi in about 25 minutes!

I've used it 4 times now and honestly don't know what the hell took me so long to get one! The freedom of not having to rely on someone else to get air is incredibly liberating! I can shoot, tune and test for leaks on my rifles all day long now and not have to worry about dropping my tanks off somewhere and waiting days to get them back filled! In hindsight, I was pretty stupid for not getting a compressor sooner; I won't be bothering Jack with air requests anymore but I'm sure I'll still manufacture enough issues requiring his assistance that I'll still see him regularly :)

Morale of this story: if you're going to be PCP'ing with any consistency at all, do yourself a favor and get a compressor! Which one you get and how much you spend, that's entirely up to you but no halfway serious PCP'er should be without one!

I’d also consider a well cared for MK2 Impact but with some modifications. RAW would be considered too…Daystates will be considered too

IRS Changed Reporting Requirements Delayed 1 year

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/12/23/irs...ange-for-1099-k-on-venmo-paypal-payments.html

I thought this would be good to share, the change in transaction occurrences and total limit won’t go into effect for another year. So for now it’s still $20,000 and 200 transactions.
